This is kind of a neat little site that has lots of ideas about really inexpensive cooking ideas and different ideas to live frugally. The thread below about the laundry detergent made me think you all might like this site if you haven't seen it before.

I heard "retired housewife" for the first time
the other week. Her husband was dead... so is that when she retired as a wife? She lived with her son instead of in her own house - so is that when she retired from housework? Sounded so silly.
Not typical hillbilly
Most of us were taught to say yes ma'am and no ma'am, don't speak to your elders unless spoken to and then they were Mr. or Mrs. so and so, never first name. But I'm from the older generation and things have changed an awful lot. Sad.
Cheesehead or hillbilly ? Which is better?
I was born and raised in WV. I now live just across the state line in VA. I know what many people think of us "hillbillys". I am proud to be from Wild, Wonderful, West Virginia!
I'm a cheesehead hillbilly!
Born in WI, and now live in NC. I've definitely got the best of both worlds!
