How long have you noticed your hard drives lasts when you are on the computer 24/7. My computer is
doing odd things and it looked like the hard drive is getting bad. It is about 2-1/2 years old. Actually the whole computer is about 2-1/2 years old.
I want my mommy
My parents use to live near me in GA, but when my grandparents died they moved up to TN around the rest of our family. They hate being so far away. They can't stand being 4 hours away from the grandkids. They were thinking about moving back, but that is a big step. I wouldve loved to live near my grandparents growing up and I think it would be wonderful if my kids could.
You're a good mommy!
He's going to feel much better with your plan I think.
Proud mommy moment
My oldest son was in the Special Olympics today and came in first in cross-country skiing and snowshoeing :-) I think the whole Special Olympics is awesome!
She's gonna let her mommy take care of
.
I get Mommy and Mama for now, DH get Daddy, Dada (sometimes) - sm
I kind of like Mama though, guess it will change over to Mom soon though as they are 7 and 8 now. A girl in our Brownie troop has to call her mom, Ma'am, which I think stinks and I feel bad for the kid (and the mom as she is just making her child feel unwanted I think, plus it is a little weird).
Love the doggie car-seat idea - you are a good mommy :)
I'm so sorry about your sister's dogs.
Who me or him? hahaha! nm
nm
hahaha!!
I totally freaked a couple years ago when I saw my male lifting a leg on the tree. Actually he did it at least once before that because... well, let's not go there.
Anyhow, that's when I went to 4-foot tree on a table with a nice long skirt. The only consequence now is my female tries to make a bed in the skirt that drapes a foot or so on the floor...
Funny how our lives revolve around our animals... OR ELSE!! ;-)
HAHAHA, so that tells me they went
you're so funny.....
this kinda tells me that Tommy Chen's specifically went and sought out cats/dogs to serve up to the public...OMG - I'm nauseated...
I love Asian food today but I never order chicken in Chinese restaurants...I'l order shrimp because a shrimp looks like a shrimp....cannot be something else made to look like a shrimp.......*lol* Also, eating lots of Thai these days, versus Chinese....because I never got over what THEY did up there in NY....and I'm older than dirt *laughs*
hahaha, I just went through the same thing....
I have had larger dogs most of my life. I can't think of what size a pekinese is, but I had 2 huskies prior, and they both actually potty trained within a month. I now have a small dog, part chihuahua and part yorkie, and let me tell you, its been HARD. But, I think we were "set back" a bit because we got him from someone else, a woman who was pregnant and decided after she had the puppy for 8 weeks that it was going to be too much to have a puppy and newborn, and 2 other kids, so I took the puppy as my son has been begging for a dog for a couple of years. First time I had to potty train a small dog. I learned through a lot of reading online and talking to my cousin who has 4 small dogs, that because of their smaller bladders, its easier to start off by getting in the habit of taking them out often at first, and time when you feed/water them to when you take them out. My cousin told me to take out the puppy soon after feeding/watering, and then a couple of hours after that, an hour to 2 hrs afterward...then slowly lengthen the time in between taking the puppy out, reward with either a treat or just a cheery sounding voice and a good petting when the potty was done, and make sure to say "potty" or "outside potty" or whatever phrase you want to associate with going outside to potty. I haven't figured out how to get him to tell me by going to the door when he has to go, but hopefully that will come. When I got him, he was using piddle pads, but his crate was stinky when I got him, and I found out he was peeing in his crate during the night, the previous owner wasn't letting him out at all at night and was told by other dog owners that he probably got used to having to go in there, and I find that now if there is a blanket on the floor, he will go on the blanket, because he had a blanket in his crate to sleep in. I removed the blanket from his crate, and for a while I would take him out after 4 hrs into the night, and he stopped messing in his crate. He now can go 7-8 hours through the night without going potty if I don't feed him an hour or 2 before bedtime. I take him out to potty before bed, and first thing when I get him in the morning out of his crate we go out to the yard for him to potty. He still has accidents if I don't watch him, and I've been told its because of his smaller bladder, I'm not sure as I have never had a small dog before him. I live in an apartment without a fenced in yard or patio, so when I got a new MT job and had to train in-house for the first 3 months, I had him in our utility room because it was the only room with a linoleum floor versus carpet, aside from our small bathroom. The utility room is as big as one of the bedrooms, which we live in a small apartment, so while I was at work, I put his crate in the room, his food and water bowl, and on the other side of the room I put down newspaper and he did fine...and now I find that now that I'm back home, he will scratch on the utility room door (which I now usually keep closed) and if I don't take him out, he will piddle in front of the door, so I think he now thinks that's his potty place, haha. I had to put him in that room, though. So, now I keep newspaper or piddle pads on the floor in the utility room in the corner in case I don't catch him (I'm a single mom, so sometimes I don't hear when he's scratching as I'm doing other things), and that way he can just go in the room. So far he's been fine with this, but I can't figure out how to get him to scratch on the outside door instead since most of the time that's where he does go potty is outside.
He is 1 year old now, and rarely makes any messes unless I have the utility room closed and don't pay attention to the time.
hahaha, same thing here!
I have friends call me while I'm working asking to babysit their kid! I'm like "umm, I'm WORKING!" one job I had, we had to have yahoo messenger on as that was how they contacted us during our shift if they needed something, well I had this one friend constantly send me messages, and even if I was invisible to everyone but my work, she knew I was working and don't answer my phone, so she would just keep messaging, and if I didn't answer, she'd be constantly sending messages. I eventually had to change my user name to have one just for work so I didn't get any more interruptions from her. People just don't seem to understand that just because you're at home doesn't mean you don't have hours to keep and work to do.
My dad understands, he works from home sometimes through his line of work, so he is about the only person that knows to leave me alone.
As far as schedule and stuff for the OP, when I started working, I had a spare bedroom that I used for work, it was my office, and I was able to get more done when I treated it strictly as a work place, only went in there to work and only left during a lunch or potty break, lol, until I was done with my shift. But, now in my small apartment, I don't have a spare room, so now I have it out in the open, its harder for even me to keep away from doing things like laundry...so I do understand. I work midnights now so its a little easier, I live in an apartment so I cant have my washing machine running during the nights because it would wake up the neighbor, lol....
I hope you find a schedule that works for you!
HAHAHA- Wait until you hit menopause.SM
forgetfulness - returns in middle age to late middle age - happens to many/most w/menopause - you will become forgetful....*lolol*
and there is no escape unless, of course, you CHOOSE to take hormonal replacement therapy - which many have not and do not today due to the other very severe problems HRT causes...
YO - but a shout out to you - BEST OF LUCK IN YOUR MID 40s-50s......and 60s-70s w/that forgetfulness. *roflmao* and it doesn't get better into your 80s and 90s either. THINK ABOUT IT....*lol*
Your problem seems to be that you leave ABSOLUTELY no room for error, and it's all gonna come back and slap you in the face in a decade or two or three. I promise this - I don't wish it on you.....but it's KARMA -
KARMA - very much like a kinahura (spelling is wrong but YOU know what I mean) equates to what goes around, comes back around, and bites you right on the face (or in the tuchas.......take your pick)......
HAHAHA Aint that the truth!
Are we sure it's a new person!?
You wont believe this!! hahaha.. Mine is
nm
Hahaha! You made my day, this is too funny!...s/m
I feel the same.
Begging for $ 100.--???
Isn't this a little too much?! LOL!
hahaha! REAL grown up, gals.
I'm back in high school. weee
Half dollars? And that's supposed to be attractive???? HAHAHA! Not.

Hahaha, cute. Dogs are not only smart, they are good neighbors. nm

Looks like someone's kid is on their computer.

My computer also
I am going to be buying a new one and have this one as back up and give my old back up away. But mine is 6 years now. But it is starting to grind and make noises. My neighbor that works on it says it is still okay but I think it is time to get a new one. He wants me to get an HP that has nothing on it and he will download Windows 2003 and take off the Vista. Will also help me transfer everything over. Needless to say, I have started backing up more lately. I am on my computer between work and play 12 to 15 hours a day and so to me it has paid for itself over these six years.
RE: Any computer pros out there? SM
Would like to see what sites my nephew has been in but he is smart enough to delete the history. Is there another way to check and then delete off the computer? Thanks.
Yep, messed my computer up big
time and other programs too. I also got a virus on my computer and my virus protection wasn't resolving the issue. Once I took of IE7 and re-installed IE6, no more problems, virus gone. My other programs work great too now. I don't recommend it at all.
I use my own computer and have a genuine
version of windows and still had a bunch of problems with it.
Something else needs to break on your computer.
Bake him another pie! :)
why were you on his *personal* computer anyway? sm
It sounds like you already have a trust issue with this person. Since he is still your BF and not your DH, I feel you had no right to invade his privacy. Maybe he had viewed those things a long time ago, prior to you being his GF. Besides that, I learned a long time ago not to go looking for things, because inevitably, you will find it. You snooped, now you are hurt, and have a very different view of this person. Your relationship is probably doomed now, because you will not be able to get past this. I am sorry for both of you.
Kitty and the Computer
My kitty likes to lay at my feet on my pedals. The long hair gets inside and causes them not to work properly. I am on my third pedal in 2+ years. You have to love being able to work from the comfort of your home though . . . with your cat by your side. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Just wish I could fall into a better work-at-home job.
My 2yo son is a computer whiz and...
my 6yo daughter is a budding artist!
Okay,I know these things aren't about myself but I am sooo proud of both my kids!
My son will "work" on his computer next to me (real computer). He navigates in and out of the web icons we have set up for him and loads his own CD roms and plays them! I only have to show him a few times how to do something and then he will master it.
Must take after his dad, the computer geek!
Most are compatible with any computer
It's a good idea to buy it from a store that has knowledgable computer salespeople, like Best Buy or CompUSA, or from a local computer store that you have worked with before.
When I replaced my hard drive a couple of years ago, the smallest one I could find was 80 gig. It really wasn't all that expensive, though.
I just hopped over to the CompUSA website. They are out of 40 gig hard drives but have a 120 gig for $49.99. I am putting a link below - hope it works.
Best way to ship a computer? sm
My daugther is moving to Spain and she needs to ship her computer tower over there. Does anyone know the best way? Quotes from FedEx and UPS were over $400! And I have seen how they throw those packages around so need to know if there is another way.
Thanks
Computer shorthand for D sm
D could also be used for DIL - daughter-in-law, IMHO is in my humble opinion, there are lots of shortcuts and a list should be available for you, don't have time to search now, but perhaps someone can give you a quick link, saves time. Kind of works like "TTFN" - Tiger's version of tata for now. LOL (laughing out loud), ROLF, rolling on the floor laughing.
I need to buy a new computer. Any ideas??
I need a new computer, and I do not know which brand is the best. I am going to wait until the after-holiday sales. I would love to get a mini-tower. This way my computer will be more portable. I do not want to work on a laptop, I tried it and did not like it. The company I work for will only program 1 computer with their software, so I want something portable. So far, I have tried Sony (Vaio laptop) and was not impressed. These are considered "disposable." I have had HP, which have been good computers with no problems. I recently obtained a Dell, which is okay, but everything you buy for it has to be from Dell and I do not like that. I would love to have an Apple, but have to run Windows XP. I know there is a way to do this, but I do not want to have to buy a lot of extras and I am pretty good with computers, but not an expert. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I tried to reasearch online and have come up with a lot of advertisers or I would have to suscribe to see the results. Thanks!!!!
I download to my computer..sm
and print from that, if I want to. You would need a UBS cable to attach to the camera and your computer, as well as some sort of software to post the pictures to. However, I also have a printer with memory card slots. If you use the memory card inside your camera, and your printer has a slot that it fits into, you can print right from the memory card. I have never done this, though. good luck. and YES, the books ARE confusing.
My computer is more than 5 years old - sm
I used to work 60 hours a week and have now cut down to less than 25. Mine is still humming away. Let me add that hubby is the computer king and takes care of any little issues I have. He says mine is still fine. I highly recommend Dell if you are replacing. This is my second Dell. Love them!
not computer savvy
How do you check the history on your computer? How do you know if there is a separate e-mail account? Thanks!
Slow computer
All of a sudden my computer is running as slow as mollasses. I used to know what to do but forgot. Even when I'm typing it halts and takes about 30-40 seconds to continue. Please help!
slow computer
Panda Titanium - an old program
i get low pay from sitting at the computer all day
actually I think my neck problems are from my computer use, staring up at the screen for so long
They are hiding behind a computer
They know if they said it to the OPs face, it would be punched.
I see it on all message boards that I go to. Sometimes the OP is in the wrong but I do think there is a nicer, gentler way to put it.
NOTE: I am not referring to the one below, I have not read it. I am just talking about MB posters in general.
computer addiction
see below.
I'm not working - so why am I at my computer?
Today is the first day off I've had in about 2 weeks or more. Sometimes it feels like I haven't had a day off since the 5th grade. Weather is getting cold here in Oregon so bringing our plants inside (we're expecting a freeze tonight). I should be cleaning, quilting, and doing a ton of other things, so now that I've read this board I ask myself - why am I using my off time to type? HA HA HA - Okay I'm off to clean.
Only take a cellphone and computer away?
She would be sitting in a room without anything, no television, no books, no activities of any kind, nothing except 4 walls. She probably has been "mouthy" for sometime and it seems like she has gotten by with it. Sorta late in the game to rein in now cause at 18 she basically can be on her own. I would cut off any funding to vehicles, phones, etc., etc. if she completely go against your wishes. You have a child out of control but this has not just happened, right?
You are correct..it was my computer...Thanks! (NM)
xm
go to start, my computer, C-drive
cookies to start - and if you can find a history click on there - but if he is tech saavy - he will have already deleted all that via tools, internet options, and from there you can delete files and cookies and history - that's another way to see.....tools (top of browser), internet options, then settings and then VIEW FILES.......but if he deleted them - you won't find them, unfortunately
question for you computer experts
Is it possible to send a song via email? I have a bunch of songs downloaded on my Windows Media. I don't know how to transfer them into email or even if it's possible.
Go to my computer, highlight the drive sm
and make it run. If it is a DVD, then you need to have a DVD drive. If a CD, then you should be able to make it play if you only have a CD drive.
my computer updated just fine--sm
with the downloaded windows update, but my smartset alarm clock did not. This is the SmartSet I am referring to, not my computer. thanks though.
I was ok in a computer-generated kind of way...sm
all real actors though. Visually very beautiful, even the gory scenes! Story so-so...that Gerard Butler kept my attention though!
