Golden Globes - anyone watch last night

First time in a long time I agreed with most of the choices they picked for winners.
I was especially thrilled when whatever category someone from the HBO series "John Adams" was up for they won. What an excellent and superb series that was. I went and bought it when it came to DVD and I have watched it many many many times.
I was also equally thrilled that whatever Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were affiliated with did not win anything. That really made my night.
There were a couple Hollyweird people I lost what little respect I had for them. Glenn Close. When they announced the foreign winner (some Israel movie) they showed her face and you could tell she was very angry about that. And the other was Angelina Jolie. My DH had told me earlier yesterday that there was trouble because Angelina was stating something about Ann Hathaway "kissing her way into Hollywood" or something along those lines, and when they announced Anne's name for one of the awards they tuned in to Angelina's face and she gave Brad a look that I can't even describe, but it was obvious what she was thinking.
Anyway.....loved the Globes last night.

did you even WATCH last night?
in Africa and in the Adirondacks in this country and NOLA. This was not the usual american idol - no one got booted off the show and they collected MILLIONS of dollars during this 2-hour special.
Unless you watched it last night, best hold your tongue because you have no clue.......last night was not a REALITY show American Idol -
AGAIN, IT WAS A TELETHON.......
N/T - anyone watch last night? What did you think?
I loved it. The previews look like it's going to be a very interesting season. Poor Christian.
Did anyone watch House last night?
'I always want to kiss you'. I thought that was great! :)
Anyone watch Jon & Kate last night?
It seems to be me that Kate is willing to give up her marriage for this new quasi-celebrity life style. She kept saying over and over how everything she is doing is for her kids, but I really don't think so. She's enjoying herself. Jon wants to go back to his old life, said this isn't what he signed up for. It's all very sad.
Did anyone watch the national spelling bee last night...sm
and feel like a dunce like I did? My husband & I felt brilliant when we were able to spell the words they used.... but missed most.
Did anyone watch Wolfgang Puck on HSN .ast night..
Lord, did that hostess with him talk to no end. I couldn't believe it. Everytime he'd start to say something, she'd butt in and yak, yak, yak. She was talking nonstop. And saying the same thing over and over. Also, did you see when Wolfgang Puck sneezed into to the towel? THen he wiped pans and the counter with it? Then I noticed not too long after that he put some fritata on a plate and gave it to the talkative host and I didn't see her take a bite, in fact when the camera shot back to her she had put it down. It was so funny. I have to hand it Mr. Puck for the amount of patience he showed with Ms. Butt-In-Ski. Well, I guess t.v. has really gone downhill when you end up enjoying the commercials more than the shows, but I do...especially when they are selling cookware.
Anyone watch American Idol last night and ?
I thought a much better group last night than in the weeks past. Von opened with a bang and Adrianna I thought not only pretty but a pretty good voice. I missed the song with the next to last guy, from Puerto Rico but think he was pretty good and of course the hit of the night probably last of all Lil Rounds. Well, 2 more nights of this but I still don’t like how they are choosing the 3 up front this year, makes for an uninspiring Idol this year, in my opinion.
No - my golden's name is Roxy the golden retriever. nm

Globes of my eyes moving- anyone else
Do not say should see neurologist, just did that yesterday for another unrelated matter and I did mention the eyes. I noticed this Friday. I thought at first it was the eyelids but no, got a mirror, checked closely and the right eye first was shaking in a vertical direction, a while later the left eye did the same, thank goodness not at the same time, might not could work. Has anyone had something similar and if so what was the end result?
My current cat doesn't watch much TV, but my last one liked to watch hockey. sm
He would sit in front of the TV and swat at the puck now and then. The only time my current 4-year-old cat watches TV is if the TiVo restarts for some reason and that little animated video comes on with the dancing TV and the loud music. He's fascinated by that and will come running to sit and watch it.
I have a golden too...
And they are the sweetest dogs in the world. I can't imagine anyone treating an animal that way. I hope they go to jail or, at the least, get fined big time. Makes me angry. I live in a part of California that is very hot in the summertime, and we let our dog get in the pool with us all she wants, but mostly I let her lie around inside all day when it's as hot as it is here today (107 degrees, yuck!).
You definitely did the right thing by calling the authorities. I would have wanted to take him in too, but I would have been worried like you about getting in trouble for it. Bless your heart. At least the poor dog isn't suffering anymore.
golden lab retriever?

There were 5 Golden Girls
Sophia, of course!!!.....Wise-crackin' momma...she never missed a beat! It's all in the timing!

my golden retriever and me
I did not go anywhere for ten years because my golden retriever would have a nervous breakdown if she was away from the family. She bit a family member when we tried to let her sleep over at another person's house and she would not eat one bite at the kennel, threw up everyday, and fell apart.
THIS TIME, when we got a puppy we PRACTICED boarding. She would go for a couple of hours, I would pick her up, she would practice an overnight visit, and I would pick her up, practiced getting a bath at the kennel, etc.
We taught the first dog to not be able to live without us. We taught the new dog that sleepovers are not the end of the world. It is a really good skill for dogs to learn.
Alternatively, a LOT of hotels take pets!
1 Sheltie, 1 golden, 1 Brat Cat
Presently:
Crissie, bi blue Sheltie.
Jamie, golden
Kazie, AKA Brat Cat.
Just in the past year I lost:
Starting in March, 06 my 21-year-old kitty Dinger, then in July 10-year-old Taz Duh Golden (not too bright), 15 days later, B.J.'s a cat who absolutely loved Taz and I know mourned himself to death!, then in Feb 07, 'Stash a 15-year-old kitty.
Happily, I've had many grace my heart before this and are now waiting for me at the Bridge. Three are my absolute heart dogs....Jennifer and Tyde were goldens and Casie was a Sheltie/Shepard mix. I miss these little critters so much!
Which of the four Golden Girls do you most resemble and why? SM
I would say I am most like Dorothy. I give and get hurt, I love and am left, always trying to help my mother! I tell it like it is!!
Having just lost my golden retriever a
few short weeks ago, I can totally relate to how your are feeling. It never gets any easier to lose our fur babies. Hugs to you.
Love the pic. My golden who died 2
months ago LOVED the snow and would always run out in the yard, stick his whole head in and then do a slow dive and wiggle around in it. Thanks for the great memory.
Golden Retriever and Rottweiler!! nm

My golden gets hot spots in the summer sm
I shave the hair off around the hot spot and put Neosporin cream on it. Oh, and check your dogfood. We figured out he can only eat Purina Beneful or Pedigree. He devleoped many hot spots to Walmart brand and when we switched him back, the hot spots cleared right up. I keep his hair short and thinned out in the summer to help his skin get some air.
I have a Golden too - I hope that poor dog makes it.
It certainly didn't deserve to suffer like that. Thank God you took action and helped it. Keep us posted on its condition.
Meant - Lucy is my golden's name, not mine. nm

I just hugged my Golden for an extra long time
I'm so sad for this poor dog. I know it is at Rainbow Bridge and at peace but what a horrible way for it to die, and it sounds as if it's life wasn't too hot either. I hope it's owners get the book thrown at them.
To poster below, I have seen on TV for heatstroke they put alcohol on the pads/paws which supposedly helps cool them, also cold water on the body, etc. (I watch Emergenc Vets on TV sometimes - love those docs).
The students at the Golden Lab Academy eagerly awaited their first fieldtrip.

Estelle Getty of the Golden Girls passed away this morning SM
at age 84 after suffering with advanced dementia for the last several years. What a talent. The Golden Girls is my all time favorite show and I still watch it every day and never get tired of it.
And Thursday night is safer than Friday night - how?
We used to live in a town that was once in the Guiness Book of World Records for number of churches per capita (which by the way was the worst place I've ever lived - discourteous, Nazi schools, etc.), and they wouldn't let us trick or treat on Sundays. Ridiculous! People can say what they want but celebrating Halloween doesn't make you a devil worshiper! Just my 2 cents!
Do you LOVE your husband? Want to spend your golden years with him?? Drop this fantasy at
s
I did. I leave all judgments up to the Lord, I take his golden rule to "love thy neighbor as the
to be the supreme rule, try to live by it always. I do not have to condemn, or judge in any way, Jesus is the supreme judge, what is wrong with extending earthly concern, friendhip, and love? Sometimes that works oh so much better when trying to "enlighten' someone than judgment, or hate, or harshness. That is all.
I had the same thing the night before...last night though (sm)
made teriyaki chicken and macaroni and cheese from a box. Tonight is chicken and rice. Tomorrow night is leftover teriyaki chicken :-)
I actually watch Fox as much as CNN, but (sm)
I am a Democrat and I'm a news nut, so I pretty much divided my time between the 2 channels.
My only gripe with Fox is when they rag on other news shows and/or reporters/anchors. I find it pretty unprofessional, but other than that, I appreciate the diversity. And I'm a long-time fan of Bill Hemmer. I was pleasantly surprised to see him pop up on Fox ;-)
I only watch Fox...
and I am a Republican, but I don't think that's why. I like their whole set up as far as different shows all day and I enjoy Hannity and Colmes as much as The Factor. They do lean more conservatively, but I think they have a pretty decent mix of all points of view.
I don't watch much TV either
The number of commercial interruptions is something I can't stand - there are so many FOOD COMMERCIALS! No wonder this country has a weight problem. We are given subliminal messages to eat, eat, eat! I like Animal Planet and Discovery Channel mostly but that's about it.
why would you want to watch
it's the same dialogue day after day after day, with the same expressions day after day after day, do these people seriously go the the job site and read these lines and make these expressions day after day, what a waste of time when they could be doing something good, but worst are the people who sit and watch the same dialogue and expressions day after day after day, when they could be doing something good.
Okay, well I watch it
every day and have all my life that I can remember! I don't remember a Maureen, so when I read what I did, I had no idea who it was talking about. How did you know she had a connection with Amelia and Sam?
You better watch yourself!
I just may have to write you as well and talk about my favorite thing in the world! That would bring you into the forbidden chain! Thank you so much! God gave us these beautiful animals to co-exist with, and we can all learn so much from them. I just love cats as well. They are all different. You can have 1000 cats and 1000 different pets totally. Thanks again!
I will keep a watch out for him.
I will also see if I get CMT. Thanks for the info.
Don't watch it always but I really like... sm
The blond 16-year-old (can't remember her name), she sang "I love you more today than yesterday" and I also really like the guy with the dredlocks, but can't remember his name either!!
I watch!
I love history, thanks to some gifted teachers I had back in grade school. They told us that in order to understand and enjoy history, you must put historical information in context. That is, you need to remember the PEOPLE and relate to them. These were people just like the rest of us with the same concerns for family, home, safety, etc. So, I always try to imagine me doing the things that people in history did. If things were so bad in the U.S. today, could I fight to change and throw off that government, then work to build a new country? It's amazing what these people did.
So, I've always tried to imagine myself in the position of the people we learn about in history. I try to imagine life in their time, and try to imagine doing what they did in the current time.
And when it comes to David McCullough, I can't praise enough. He can bring history alive for even the most history-hating person. I highly recommend his book on which this series is based. There is far more detail. The series really doesn't show the depth of the friendship between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. They were the fastest of friends and admired and respected each other greatly. That friendship developed during their time together in France, but that part of John Adams' life was only briefly shown. I believe the next episode will show how their friendship crumbled when they were President and Vice-President together.
Oh! I also have to admit that since I live in Philadelphia, it's very easy for me to imagine these events in the place where they happened. Back in the early 1980s, I worked just across the street and on the eastern corner from Independence Hall. Prior to the 9/11 security, I could simply wander in and out of that building, and all the other historic buildings in the area. I used to just sit on a bench and look at that building and imagine Adams, Jefferson and all the others walking in and out of the place.
If you really like American history, I also recommend McCullough's book on Harry S Truman. I downloaded it as an audiobook and listened to it on my iPod. I loved it, and I hear it is also in the works for an HBO miniseries.
How can you watch her do this?
It scares me just looking down there. Does it bother you. She's a cutie.
OMG! Watch this!
Link below...
Don't watch much of anything then, do
Just kidding.
I don't watch much TV but when I do -
Tudor - I am hooked. I love the characters - especially King Henry ;-)
Also catch House and Red Eye. Don't watch too many shows because after awhile they become predictable.
Also, can't wait for the new season of True Blood.
let the dog watch you
When my teenage son picks on the dog, I just wrestle him to the ground and pretend to pound him into submission and I get the dog to join in. She still mostly avoids him and prefers me, but maybe when your son walked in, he was alpha, you changed the way you were behaving and the dog just picked up on it.
Snapping a dish towel on the head of your grown son can be really good for the soul!
No - I did not watch the trial
start to finish, as I had to work. I lived in LA at that time. I think the timing of this was crucial - just after the Rodney King debacle. I think Johnnie Cochran was very charming and had that jury in the palm of his hands. I think the investigation was botched. I'm not an expert on the trial and it's true, I don't know everything about it, but just my opinion. Even if he didn't do it, who in the heck would write this kind of book - it's just distgustingly insensitive to the victim's family, who think he did do it and who were there from start to finish.
I don't get to watch Dr. Phil much, but I did --sm
happen to see the same show you are talking about. It was VERY eye opening. I felt so bad for the woman who was involved with this scammer. It is much the same as women who get *involved* with men in prison. All these men want is money and they do not care who they get it from.
Even if the mom has no money, he does not care. His *anger* is just a ploy to make her feel guilty. I can guarantee that he has no son, he is not who he says he is, and he is probably in the middle east somewhere, as I do believe the man on Dr. Phil was in the middle east and tried to pass off his accent as from somewhere else. Please don't be too hard on your mom. She is vulnerable and *love smit*, but she needs to know the truth. Perhaps contact the Dr. Phil show and they may send a tape of that show, or he may have some personal advice for her. Good luck.
I like to watch sports... sm
I like pro hockey and the NFL. But are they overpaid? OMG yes. I can't believe what some of those guys get to hit a ball or tackle somebody. It's insane. Not to mention the special treatment they get when they break the law. Anybody else would be sitting in jail for some of the stuff they get away with.
I do not watch AI except very, very rarely, BUT.....
I have 12-year-old daughter and I feel she is just as entitled to vote as I am (if I voted which I don't). This is America and we all have rights no matter our age.
Now, if older people are playing games with the voting, that is a whole other story and AI should change their voting policy somehow so it is fair and the most talented person wins.
No, I asked did you watch all of the
case when it was on, all.
And I would say to your post, WATCH out
I had a little girl who came for the summer to stay with her father and his family down our street. The child came to play with my daughter. She was so nice, sweet, etc. but my hubby then told me to watch out, the child had loads of issues. Now how he would know that, I sure was not seeing it. Bottom lining it, my child had a bird and this little girl decided to kick the cage with the bird in it. My daughter told her to stop, 1 thing lead to another and the visiting child wound up biting my daughter all over her back, shoulders, etc. On taking my daughter to the emergency room, the nurse there said worse case of bites she had seen in her 20 years experience. I had shown this child nothing by niceness and yet this is what wound up happening.
If you didn't know them before, watch out.
You will be their best friend while they are in prison, they will probably want you to keep sending or bringing them things. Usually you will never hear from them again when they are released. Not always, but often that's what happens. Just beware.
Does anyone watch Days??
