I don't really think Gene Simmons thinks he should
be fired from anything. I could not believe his arrogance. I was really glad that Donald got rid of him. I was sort of scared he might keep him just for ratings.
Simmons has a mattress that is
advertised for that problem. Sure enough, when we went to the bed store, that's what the salesman directed us to. DH is a flopper, and he's big. Light doesn't wake me up, noise rarely wakes me up, but having hubby flopping around on a mattress that transmits motion sure does.
There is something called the MDR1 gene...sm
MDR1 (multi-drug resistance gene). It's found in herding breeds like collies, aussies, etc., and somel other breeds as well. It's a mutation that causes an adverse reaction to certain drugs if the dog is given those drugs. The only way to know is to test the dog to see if has the gene or is a carrier. (I think that just involves a cheek swab.)
Were these dogs related to each other? I wonder if that gene was the cause, or if the vet was negligent, or if it was just terrible luck. It's hard to say.
Before surgery, I talk to the vet and make sure I understand what kind of drugs and anesthetic they use, and how the dog is monitored during anesthesia and while recovering. Just like with people, there is always a risk. Some vets have all the fancy, high tech equipment for monitoring, but others rely more on an assistant to do it manually. I prefer 'high tech' but either can be safe if done correctly. There are not nearly as many vet anesthesiologists in the vet world as there are in human medicine.
I'm not an expert on Australian Shepherds, BTW. I've never had one. I just read about this gene when I was helping a friend research the breed. Her first aussie died at a ripe old age of about 14 yrs old, I think, and she has one that's about 1 year old and has had no health problems that I know of. I'm so, so sorry for your friend. To have a dog die after a flea dip of all things... and then another after routine teeth cleaning. There is always a risk with anesthesia, but we get so used to thinking it's no big deal.
>> She took her current Aussie to the vet for neutering. When he came home he was lethargic. They took him back and the doctor put him on an IV to flush his system of any anesthesia?>>
This s/l either the dog had a bad reaction to the anesthesia, or the vet went overboard and gave too much...
Thank you for a voice of reason
I think there are more than one or two of us in this predictament. Making the changes I'm trying to make right now is actually exacerbating the anxiety, but I know it's my only way out and in the long-run will alleviate the anxiety. My body and mind have been screaming at me for a year now, I can't live on Xanax to keep this job, I'm getting less and less effective and more apathetic. My spouse is supportive and has recently put his foot down on "no dinners at the computer" and "no vacations where I look at you hunched over a computer," and "tell them to take their vacation policy and stick it where the sun doesn't shine." I think I needed that nudge and am glad for the support, though I still feel someewhat guilty when I don't push myself to the limit.
Quietmoods, you're not alone.
Everyone has a right to voice their opinion - (sm)

Anyone who never has to raise their voice to get (sm)
I have an 8 year old an almost 11 year old and my husband is gone a lot. They are basically good children, never get in trouble at school except occasionally for talking, don't really do anything malicious or mean. But sometimes the bicker incessantly with each other and many times I feel as if I have to tell them repeatedly to do something and finally have to get a mad voice before they listen -then their feelings are hurt because I raised my voice. Right now my son is crying because I told him he has to help clean the house before he can have friends over this morning (he is almost 11). On school days they don't want to help because they have been at school all day. On weekends they don't want to help because those are their only days off. I am making them help even though they don't want to, but why the tears? It makes me feel like a mean mom, but I can't do it all myself and don't feel I should have to.
I think Blake has great voice and
a very unique style all his own. He deserves to still be in the competition.
Oh, the voice of Darth Vader!
I've definitely been spending way too much time on the Medquist board! Thank you everyone who reminded me about James Earl Jones and the finer things in life. Isn't it amazing that he has a problem with stuttering but has managed to develop such a beautiful voice? See what some of our docs could do if they tried? When I'm done working for the day, I think I'll listen to his narration of Aaron Copeland's A Lincoln Portrait. Beautiful music, gorgeous voice.
A truly magnificent voice and talent. nm

I CAN have my opinion and give voice to such.

Thank goodness, another voice of reason!
My husband did not "cop out", he provided more than enought support, insurance, braces, etc. The deadbeat mother who didn't want to work is to blame here, she taught her daughters to take men for all their worth and then move on; nice role model. As long as she got the child support and played the "victim" she was happy as could be, yet still dumped her children off on other's to raise without notifying the father. Yes, he did go back to court, but guess what, when kids are in their teens they are allowed to decide where they want to live and dad was not one of their options. Too bad because had they have given him one ounce of respect and kindness there is nothing he would not do for them. Now that the well has run dry for them support wise we don't hear from them. Grow up, accept responsibility and get a job to help pay for school; millions do it and have survived!
Just say "Dave ain't here, man" in your best stoner voice... nm
haha
Finally - a voice of reason in the wilderness!
and please, OP - GET OVER IT - he WAS just being nice!
Rachel Ray also drives me nuts with her voice.
I like the woman who does Barefoot Contessa, calm and relaxed with a soothing way about her.
that's not surprising; he has an awesome sounding voice

I thought Adam's voice was SO annoying.

Cat
Album: I Love It
(Craig Morgan/Kerry Curt Phillips)
He had plastic bags wrapped 'round his shoes He was covered with the evening news Had a pair of old wool socks on his hands
The bank sign was flashing "5 below It was freezing rain an' spittin' snow He was curled up behind some garbage cans
I was afraid that he was dead I gave him a gentle shake When he opened up his eyes I said,"Old man are you ok?"
He said,"I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree I was runnin' from some honey bees Drip dryin' in the summer breeze After jumpin' into Calico creek I was walkin' down an old dirt road Past a field of hay that had just been mowed Man I wish you'd just left me alone 'Cause I was almost home..."
Then he said,"I was just comin' round the barn" 'Bout the time you grabbed my arm When I heard Momma holler son hurry up I was close enough for my old nose To smell fresh cobbler on the stove And I saw daddy loadin' up the truck Cane poles on the tailgate Bobbers blowin' in the wind Since July of ཱི That's as close as I've been
"Yeah, I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree I was runin' from some honey bees Drip dryin' in the summer breeze After jumpin' into Calico creek I was walkin' down an old dirt road Past a field of hay that had just been mowed Man I wish you'd just left me alone I was almost home"
I said,"old man you're gonna freeze to death" Let me drive you to the mission He said,"Boy if you'd left me alone Right now I'd be fishin'"
"I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree I was runnin' from some honey bees Drip dryin' in the summer breeze After jumpin' into Calico creek I was walkin' down an old dirt road Past a field of hay that had just been mowed Man I wish you'd just left me alone 'Cause I was almost home"
"Man I wish you'd just left me alone I was almost home..."

No, Robin...You're the VOICE OF REASON on this topic and
And you're saving me the trouble of posting since you're beating me to it.
Keep posting and keep the reality checks coming, please!!!
I heard the voice yelling out about broken record
and I figured Kara was saying similar statement as she had for previous round. Had no idea Megan's brother. I, like you, could not believe how she was acting and basically think she shot her own self in her foot. What music producer would take a wannabe and try to make a star out of that? Besides do not consider her that talented at all.
Yes, I watched that. She has a beautiful voice. A real joy to listen to!! nm

Basing on talent, I think Taylor Hicks has a phenomenal voice.
t
The voice of Darth Vader was James Earl Jones.
DEEP
It's a catchy tune, she has a unique voice, different sound blending 60s Motown and current lyric
