I soooo love Friday Night Lights, except sm
they are actucally putting it on Friday Nite. I am afraid that many people that watch this show actucally go to Friday nite hight school football. My hubby and son always go see our high school team play. I just don't want them to have low ratings and get dropped.
my mom is always telling me about Friday Night Lights
That is one of those that I didn't start watching from the beginning and never want to just cut in in the middle.
i saw a preview for it the other day and went wish i would have watched that one... my mom is ALWAYS like i can't believe youre not watching that one!!
must be pretty good? But is it not a high school show? i thought it was like a 90210 kind of show, and im too old for that! :)
And Thursday night is safer than Friday night - how?
We used to live in a town that was once in the Guiness Book of World Records for number of churches per capita (which by the way was the worst place I've ever lived - discourteous, Nazi schools, etc.), and they wouldn't let us trick or treat on Sundays. Ridiculous! People can say what they want but celebrating Halloween doesn't make you a devil worshiper! Just my 2 cents!
I had a miscarriage Friday night...sm
8 weeks into the pregnancy. Yesterday I e-mailed my friends/family the entries I had made in a journal starting the day after I found out I was pregnant. If you're interested in reading the various emotions that I've (and others that have been through a similar situation) been through then keep reading (Rick is my husband, Kyley is my stepdaughter and Kerstin is our foster child we're adopting)....
October 21, 2006:
Yesterday we found out that we were going to be your parents. Your dad & I were VERY excited when the home pregnancy test was positive & later in the day Dr. Desai confirmed that I am 4-5 weeks pregnant with you. I've had dreams for a couple of months that we had a baby and for the past 2 weeks I've had dreams every night about having you & your being at various ages from pregnancy to newborn to toddler age. I fully believe God was telling me through my creams that you were already growing in me & I didn't realize it yet.
I love your dad VERY much & we very much want you and have planned for you from the day we got married. We haven’t told anyone else about you except for my friend Lisa but will tell the others soon. We know that everyone will be excited to know that you’re joining our family.
Over the past week I’ve had a few times where I felt like you do when you go over a dip in the road too fast. I know these sensations are you moving around in my womb. Dad is already rubbing my tummy & talking to you because we want you to know how much we love you. I love saying things to you & rubbing my belly as well – it feels so good knowing you’re in there – God’s gift to us. We love you! Mom
October 22nd:
Today we told Kyley, Kerstin, grandparents, aunts & uncles about you. Everyone is excited & eager to meet you next summer. Kerstin was so happy she danced & kept screaming “we’re going to have a baby!” then asked me to take her to Target to buy you some things. She wanted to buy you a lot of things but I told her that we had to hold off a little bit as we could get somethings now & more later. I love you, baby Oldham! Mom
October 23rd:
Today we told our friends about you. They’re all eager to meet you in the future! For lunch I had Spaghetti-O’s and about an hour later I could feel you moving all around – so I think you like them!
Kertsin likes talking to you & telling you that she loves you whether you’re a boy or a girl – but she thinks she wants a brother. We’ll see as time progresses. Love, Mom.
October 25th:
Kerstin stopped people in the hallways at choir tonight telling them about you. We’re so excited!
October 29th:
We had a busy weekend, baby. Your nana sent you some booties. We went to Kerstin’s soccer game, the Smyrna Jonquil Festival, church & Drew’s soccer game and and didn’t make me feel sick at all. However, some Wendy’s french fries with supper didn’t settle well with indigestion agalore. Dad & I love you & are excited that this week you grow arms, legs, eye rims, intestines & pancreas. You’ll be quite busy for sure! Love, Mom.
October 30th:
Hello sweetheart! I continue to have occasional sensations of you & love every minute of it & knowing you’re growing inside of me. You are very much loved by me, your dad and sisters. Love forever, Mom.
October 31st:
We had our 1st Halloween with your being a part of our family. While at the church fall festival tonight Rick & I looked at the babies there & commented that next year you’ll be 4 months old by then. We can’t wait to dress you up & show you off!
Your dad has given me 2 very sweet toy stuffed baby dolls to remind me of your coming in the future. Your have a GREAT dad who is very excited to have you growing in me. We all love you very much! Love, Mom.
November 2nd:
Hi angel from God! I love you & want you to know that you are a true gift from God to your dad & myself. We love you immensely. Love, Mom.
November 5th:
Hi Sweetie! You’re entering your 7th week of growth. This week you’ll start developing your fingers, toes, eyes, ears, nose, intestines, & teeth. Dad & I are very excited thinking about seeing you on ultrasound on the 13th. We love you immensely & look forward to being your Mom & Dad. Love, Mom
November 7th:
Hello honey! I’ve had yet another wonderful day with you continuing to grow inside of me. I still have indigestion after eating & occasional flutter sensations, but both are neat because I know that they come from you. Dad & I love you VERY much! Love, Mom
November 9th:
Hi “Baby O” – life has been great this week knowing you’re working hard at growing to be an incredible child. Your dad & I went to an OB class at the doctor’s office tonight where they talked about your upcoming arrival. We both love you VERY much & look forward to your 1st photograph on Monday. Love, Mom.
November 11th:
Little angel, we had a good day today. Dad, Kyley, Kerstin & I went to the zoo & we look forward to taking you there in the future. Dad & I went to Hobby Lobby where dad picked the softest yarn for me to make you an afghan with. I started this project tonight. You’ve had a busy week with all of the growing you had scheduled to complete. In 2 days we get to see how well you’re doing. We love you! Mom & Dad
November 13th:
Hello honey, we went to the doctor’s office today for the ultrasound & found out that you’re not as big as we expected. They drew lab work on me & will repeat it on Wednesday to see if you’re OK. Dad & I are trying to not worry & remember that your life is in God’s hands. We’re praying that He hasn’t called you to heaven & that you’ll continue to be with us still here on earth. We love you sweetie. Love, Mom
November 14th:
Little angel, Dad & I were at the doctor’s office again today because I started having some bleeding this morning. Dr. Morell & the staff were great & sympathetic, and it’s too early to know what will happen. The good news is that you are still in me. I’ll go back tomorrow for more blood work. They’ve put me at bedrest for a couple of days. Dad dreamed last night that you were OK so we’re trying to stay positive with that & my dreams I’ve had before & after we found out that I was pregnant & you were fine. You’re in God’s hands now for the final outcome. We love you honey. Love always, Mom.
November 15th:
Hello sweetie! We found out that yesterday’s HCG level was good & high. Tomorrow we get the results of the Monday & today’s tests. We continue to hop & pray that the numbers are going up. I didn’t work today. The bleeding is less but still present. We’re still rooting for you honey. We love you very much! Love, Mom
November 16th:
Hi honey! We found out this morning that my lab work was inconclusive so they’re repeating the HCG tomorrow. We’ve got a lot of people praying for you, Dad & I that you’ll continue to grow & this scare will end soon. I did work today but was able to take breaks to rest & didn’t do much of anything else. Dad & I love you tons. Love, Mom
November 18th:
Hello little angel in heaven. Dad & I were devastated to find out that you will not be joining us here on earth but instead are already in heaven on yesterday. Please know that we both loved you while you were in my womb & look forward to the day in our future when we meet you in heaven. We love you, Mom
After all these years, the love lights are
burning stronger than ever.
I fell in love last night.
I was browsing youtube.come last night and I found a video by Erasure sing O’Lamaur. I fell in love. Just a while ago, I looked at it again and saw the comments. Come to find out he is gay and has HIV. I know, I know even if he was straight he would not have anything to do with me but it was a nice fantasy while it lasted. LOL. I also watched the video to Always and not only can the guy sing but he can do acrobats. I had never seen these videos before but this was the music I used listening to while getting dressed in the morning to go to high school. We could not afford cable back then.
I love 80s music maybe because it takes me back to a time before I had real responsibility as in kids, mortgage, line counts. It drives my husband nuts.
Love Brooke. Everyone has a bad night every
once in a while. There are several that were a lot worse last night.
Brothers.
All you can do is be there for him. You're fortunate that he called you to tell you this information. A lot of men (my brothers) keep their health problems to themselves and I usually don't know anything until the crises are over. I wish him the best and will say a little prayer.
Me and my brothers do this, too! So funny!
.
My brothers were in Cub Scouts
and did pinewood derbys. My Dad helped and so did I actually. I think it is supposed to be a family event, but I'm not sure if it is for church that the same rule would apply. It does give some cars the upper hand when family members help, but it was actually encouraged in Cub Scouts.
Forgot to tell you, have brothers and 1 gay
and the other not. I still love them, they are my children but 1 really has to, shall I say, watch his back??
What do you all give your brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law for Christmas? Last year, we gave "family buckets" (my husband has 4 sisters plus 3 married nephews/nieces) which included a decorative container and inside had coffee mugs for both, packages of tea, coffee, and cocoa, coasters, snacks, and a blanket.
I'm at a loss for this year though and would like to start getting a little bit at a time starting like yesterday!! LOL
oh yeah, sign me up for my two drunken brothers
After what happened at last years' Christmas party, count me out! The drunker they got, the funnier it was to point out all of the ways I'm a failure: No money, raising my kid by myself, rusty car .... the list went on. Nothing better than driving home crying on Xmas Eve. No thank you very much to that again, which I have made very clear.
Just bought Jonas Brothers Tickets for 12 yo niece
Her and 2 of her friends. Should be interesting. LOL. Don't forget Bobby Sherman in that group.
Sisters
I'm from a family of 5, 3 girls and 2 boys. My younger sister at the age of 42 died a year ago suddenly from a heart attack. It was a total shock . Some times I feel guilty because I am still alive, but I've been trying to make each day more special than before she died. I don't understand why she died, as she was the most active and healthy out of the family. She lived a crazy life and for some strange reason I admired her for that. There are still days when I wake up hoping that it was just a dream. I keep in touch with both brothers because they live close. My older sister lives in another state, so we don't talk or see each other very often. Sure stuff happens in families and people fight. I have learned that most of the time the fights are about petty and superficial things, like money and who gets what. It's just not worth it.....because when you think about it....in the end money can't comfort you or talk to you like a sister could. My mother also died a couple of years before my sister, and I just miss them more than I could explain in words. I'm stuck in a house with all guys, husband and two teenage boys. It would have been nice to have had a daughter to do things with.....but it's not gonna happen at my age.
To make a long story short......there is no other love more special than between sisters and I would give anything to have her back. Before she died, she told me she was moving back to be near family again. That night when she called I was too busy typing to talk...boy do I wish I could do that over again!!!! We live and learn, but it was a lot more fun when she was still here.
My 2 sisters.
Would love to have more friends. It seems that everyone is too busy.
OMG! We might be sisters-in-law!
LOL!! No kidding - your in-laws sound like mine. My husband had a very cold, formal upbringing. When he was 17 he found all his baby pictures in the barrel by the curb waiting for the trashmen!
I don't understand people like that, but that makes it even more crucial that you show your boys true love and affection - even your husband is probably learning a lot by watching a real loving mother in action.
You go girl!!
Including sisters
What is another role 2 sisters could play in a wedding besides bridesmaid? I was thinking about having them both stand at the guest register. It is a small, simple wedding and there are not a lot of "parts" for them to have. Only having one matron of honor. She is the groom's sister and introduced us. I think my sisters will be a little miffed for not also being bridesmaids but I only one since I'm keeping it small (as well as other reasons). Also, what is something else a 4-year-old boy could do other than being the ring bearer? Thanks so much for the tips. You guys are the best. Thanks for letting me pick your brains.
Sisters . . can't pick em
As the oldest of 10, 2 brothers, one passed on quite young, and 6 sisters, it's bittersweet. Sometimes I think I am the odd one as I don't think like my sisters, and therein lies the problem. Our parents died young. Three of us married sisters took in two younger ones each, and did a relatively good job, not great, but they were loved, cared for, included in everything, and I truly enjoyed and relished their company. Now we are all adult women, and I hardly see them because they are too weird. I have always praised them, and have always been proud of them. They all educated themselves, have masters and bachelor degrees in the medical field. What they have in education they lack in common sense or the ability to gain insight. It amazes me and floors me that they hate my mother's family. My sisters target them for neglect and abandonment, when in reality we had lousy, abusive parents who did not take care of themselves, which is in part why they died so young. My sisters focus their hurt on our mother's family. My sisters are narcissistic, antisocial, and completely paranoid of me because I do get along with my mother's family. My sisters do not include me in any of the holiday functions. Oh well, I say, I am the lucky one because I can be objective, look at painful situations, hold no one accountable for my lot in life, gain insight and grow from my past, and love being around people and socializing. What hurts me is that I have finally figured out why they are so distant with me - pretty much without saying it clearly, this summer, the sister I was the closed to, had a talk with me and pretty much feels that it would have been better if they had been adopted out!! Unbelievable. That is so easy to say because it did not happen that way. Now, I think the only sad part is that they all have such beautiful children, and what a loss that they do not allow me to have a relationship with them. I would love to have a relationship with my nieces and nephews, take them out, have them over for sleep overs, and cookie baking. Life is so funny sometimes. In spite of it all, I think that I am the one truly blessed and pretty lucky.
he was 19 or 20 and sisters were 12 or 13, and 8 or 9, very young.

What would your teacher sisters say to your views?

Cat sisters: Fluffy and McKenzie...

NM
My mother and her sisters all had copies
of my grandparent's along with the doctor's office and there was a copy in their hospital charts.
Were the sisters children when this happened??!! sm
If so, then yes, I would leave him immediately. I was thinking of them all as young adults.
shame on your 2 sisters! Did they talk
your mother into disinherit you or leave you out of her will? If there is nothing in written by your mother against you, you are still a legal heir and can still go to court!
Believe me, God will get them! Shame, shame!
My sisters and nieces and nephews and I stopped
exchanging gifts several years ago. My mom and dad and my family stopped exchanging gifts a couple of years ago. This year, my 2 grown children and my husband and I agreed to keep Christmas very, very simple. One gift each. No big major spending. We have a new grandson who is a week old and, of course, he will receive gifts from us, but, even for him the spending will be kept to a minimum this year 'cause he won't know the difference. Maybe you need to just tell your family that you've decided to cut back this year. They may not understand, but you should not have to stress about such a beautiful time of the year. I know that I am actually looking forward to the holidays for the first time in a long time because I'm not so concerned about how I'm going to be able to buy gifts for everybody. We are by no means rich people, but we do have what we need and a lot of what we want. There is really nothing that any of us needs. We are truly blessed.
Seems awful strange your sisters coming out - sm
out with this 17 years later--- do they have a motive? Do they want your marriage to break up for some reason? Would they band together and lie to make you miserable? Any bad blood? I find it hard to believe a 20-y/o guy would try to seduce and 12 and 8-y/o-- unless he is a pedophile--I know guys can get freaked when a baby is born, no sex for six weeks and all that, but still find this hard to swallow. In any case your trust is broken, you need to go to counseling. I would not trash my marriage over it though especially if you both still love each other and it is a he said/she said thing. It is hard to believe someone would make up such a story, but then again why did they wait 17 years to come to you with this info, that makes your wonder too, what do they hope to acheive by making you miserable and possibly a divorced single mother? You are in a lose-lose situation no matter what you do. If you stay in your marriage your sisters will never forgive you--- how have they been acting with him for the last 17 years, seemingly okay, or aloof, etc? Look at everyone's interactions over the years, it may give you some insight. In any case, counseling is a must, if he won't go, go without him, but if he wants to help restore your trust in him, he will attend. Good luck.
3-way lights
They do now make them for 3-way lights. They are hard to find, but they are out there.
lights
We put ours up every year. We only leave them on for about 2-3 hours a night and not every night. We do it because our kids love them.
lights
I use hooks and bread ties.
Christmas Lights
Did you know that Orthodox Christians around the world do not celebrate Christmas until January 7th? (We call it Nativity). We then keep our decorations up until Theophany, which is the baptism of Christ, which happens to be today. Just thought you might appreciate a view from a different angle.
got my new one - 1300 lights on a 7-1/2
I posted earlier about prelit trees. Ordered one from Home Depot because it was free shipping and delivered to my home since I have no way of getting a huge box home. I always got a skinny one - but this year everyone is gone but me so I figured it could take up the whole living room! It is stunning!
We don't do christmas lights. Instead we
do halloween decorations. We have more fun with that and it helps that halloween usually falls during a time when our energy bills are normally the lowest for the year.
I found the lights very helpful
I suffer from SAD to some degree no matter where I live, but I did not realize it until I started breeding birds as a hobby. I had a room with dozens of cages stacked together. On the two long walls, I vertically mounted two 6 foot uncovered natural lights and on the short walls I horizontally mounted two 3 foot of the same lights.
After I brought the birds their breakfast in the mornings, I would sit in the room for an hour to watch the birds' behavior. After about a year, I realized I was feeling better than I had ever felt in my life. Not only no depression, but my energy level was higher, my house stayed neater, I was better able to concentrate, I interacted better with people...
My work space is now located next to a sliding glass door and I keep the curtains pulled back all day every day. If you want to go look into the lights before you buy, a good source is in a pet shop in the lizard/snake/aquarium area where natural lights are sold in different strengths and shapes. They are NOT cheap, but the ones in pet shops last a long time and you should find something that would blend into your home. If you can't find them in the pet shop, look for a magazine like Bird Talk online and go to the merchandise/advertiser section for a distributor.
Those low-mounted driving lights that - (sm)
illuminate both sides of the road are really helpful on dark country roads at night, and in the rain, too. They help me see puddles of deeper water, especially those along the side of the road that can get you spun around if just one front tire hits them. They're also good if you're watching for deer, pedestrians, etc.
I've learned a few tricks that help improve night driving vision:
First, if your windshield is pitted, replace it. The pits diffuse bright lights and make it hard to see.
Keep your headlights, tail-lights & turn-indicator lights clean so they'll be as bright as possible.
If I've been doing a long drive from daylight into night, especially if headed into the sunset, I'll wear sunglasses that are as dark as possible during bright daylight. Once the sun sets, I'll switch to more lightly tinted ones and wear them for as long as I can to help get my eyes better adjusted to the dark.
Once it's pretty dark, I usually take a break at a service station, and in addition to the slight rest I get from topping off the tank, I also take that opportunity to get my windshield as clean as possible - inside and out.
Next I'll wipe off my driving glasses, and finally, use some "Clear Eyes" eye drops in my eyes.
Finally, a sort of "last resort" trick I use to improve my vision right after passing an oncoming car with very bright headlights is to close one eye for a few seconds as the on coming car is within a certain distance. That way the iris in that eye doesn't have to readjust as much as the one that was blinded by the oncoming headlights.
All of those things make driving at night a little easier.
Anyone not putting up Christmas lights?
I usually make a big to-do out of having the house and yard lit up, but this year I don't think I'm going to. The few hours they are on a night sure packs a punch on the electric bill. How bout everyone else?
I live in the boonies, have never put up lights nm

putting up Xmas lights
Sorry if this may seem really dumb but I've never done this before - how do you attach the lights to siding on a house around windows and doors? It's not wood siding, it's an older home with aluminum siding.
Christmas lights and decorations up after New Year's!
We always take ours down New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. Our neighbors still have theirs out (lawn decorations and everything) and up until just a week ago they were still turning them on at night! Ugh! It also bugs me when people leave the Christmas lights on their houses year-round. I love the holidays and I love having my Christmas stuff out, but when the holidays are over, so are my decorations!
sorry...pot lights or high hats over the mantle...nm
s
I'm going to turn out the lights, lock up the house, -
and instead of doing the trick-or-treat thing, am going on a Halloween night costumed inline skate through the streets of S.F. with my skate-buddies. Most likely WE will eat the candy I originally bought! ;)
Wow! Those glowing eyes fit right into the tree lights!

We went to the local botanical gardens for the lights - sm
then out to dinner, home around 10, 1 daughter had a friend sleeping over so they watched The Grinch who stole Christmas (Jim Carrey), my other daughter and I watched the old (first) version of The Posiedan Adventure until 12 or so then went to bed. DH went to bed about 11 and slept through. Okay evening for the most part. No hangover.....haven't done that for years.

Next Friday
it's in stores. I'm going to buy it. I have tried everything including hypnotism and exercising my behind off to lose weight and just can't get rid of the fat. Also doing low carb and still can't lose weight. I'm counting down the days to buy Alli. Never tried Xenical but it's half the dose of it so it still should work. I'm desperate. I am in a wedding in Sept and need to lose a lot of weight in the next 3 months.
Friday
Home made chicken pot pies for dinner tonight. It's so chilly outside today. Plus, I can easily toss it in the crock pot during lunch. :)
