Fantasy is always better than real life -
He is a stranger after all these years and nothing more. Stop lying to your husband and yourself. Be happy with what you already have and stop longing for what might be. Trust me on this. Went a similar route myself that nearly destroyed me and everyone in my path 8 years ago. I was very luck my husband forgave my temporary insanity!
I believe she means the actress, in real life . . .
I think I read about that somewhere on the net a few weeks ago, just did not know who she was at the time.
I read the book. Even better.

Read this Book
The Fourth Turning by William Strauss and Neil Howe.

You don't have to get mad about pulling funding for schools because it is never going to happen.

You might get mad because of sacrifices YOU personally will be asked to make in your old age, but from here on out, kids will be treated like the future they are. History repeats itself.
No, I just read the book sm
This is a close up of the wedding cake I did for my daughter earlier this year. It was a double layer cake, about 150 buttercream roses I made to cover it. This is my signature cake, done probably 50 of them.

My mom took classes and never mastered the rose either. When I bought supplies 25 years ago, I bought a Wilton book took and followed the instructions. First thing I did was a rose, had it down after about 12 of them. It is drop flowers I can't do well!
yep, those *pristine* areas never show REAL LIFE

PLEASE do NOT think that *pristine* neighborhoods are free of drugs, crime, domestic violence, child abuse, alcoholism, methamphetamine labs, and all the REAL stuff that goes on in MOST neighborhoods - because ALL these problems have crossed over ALL socioeconomic lines in this country!

Let her rant and rave....nobody really knows what goes on behind closed doors!  Pristine, white collar, no matter what kind of area - the blight has crossed over EVERYWHERE over 30-40 years now!

I think you need to get out of the house and meet people in real life.
Any man can seem fabulous on the phone or through email. Your relationship has become inappropriate and you know it. IF he cheats on his wife, he WILL cheat on you. For your own sanity and well being, you need to end things now.
How old is Meredith/Ellen in real life? I thought she was
maybe very late 40s, pushing 50, a little old to be pregnant with your first child...
BEST book read in ages...
Wow...cannot remember when the last time I have read such an INCREDIBLE book.  If anyone is a reader like me, check out "For One More Day" by Mitch Albon (author of 5 People You Meet in Heaven).  I had never read anything of his, but WOW.  Once I picked it up, I could not put it down.  Read it in less than 2 hours and it is simply FABULOUS.  So good, I'm going to read it again!
You know, when I read the last book, I thought
that Dumbledore's relationship with the other great wizard seemed a little "warm and fuzzy", shall we say?

But, please don't forget that her audience for these books was not originally intended for small children. The books are meant to be read by children the same age as Harry in any particular book. So the first book is appropriate for 11-year-olds, and the last book is appropriate for 18-year-olds and up. I think people forget that. Yes, the marketing definitely is geared to a wider audience, but she has always maintained that this series of stories is meant to grow with a child, and on more than one occasion, she has reminded people that the later books are not intended for young children.

I really didn't think it was necessary for her to out Dumbledore, but, oh well. There it is.
If I buy book for SIN for XMAS, but read it

I read this book and actucally
where "The Glass Castle" was supposed to be built is about 30-40 minutes from here. I also heard the author speak at a dinner. I still don't quite believe "everything" in the book but it did make for an interesting read.
Everyone should read his book, it's wonderful. sm
I originally borrowed it from the library and read it, but it was so fantastic that I bought my own copy so I could read it again and share it with others. He was truly an amazing man and has touched the lives of so many people.
Yes, I read it and it was a great book....nm

The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. It teaches you how to be debt free and get out of the hole you are in. I am gonna try it. I have heard 2 people say it worked for them. Just give it a look.

It shed a whole new light on the drug industry for me.

kitchen confidential...the book is on tape/maybe CD by now read by the author...sm

Kitchen Confidential (2000) is Chef Anthony Bourdain's personal and professional memoir of 25 years in the kitchens of New York. The book's full title is Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly, but Bourdain, who studied at Vassar College before graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, with knife-sharp prose cuts through the underbelly and straight into the entrails of New York's culinary world.

Beginning with a boyhood introduction to his first raw oyster, a "glistening, vaguely sexual-looking object, still dripping and nearly alive,' and navigating through soaring heights and devastating lows of a career simultaneously fueled and marred by drugs and alcohol, Bourdain's constant companions, this memoir not only tracks the coming of age of a now-celebrity chef with his own Food Channel series, but it maps the restaurants and kitchens that came and went during Bourdain's formative cooking years.

Though he is currently a highly-regarded executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles, Bourdain's early years were spent ricocheting from one failure to another, particularly during the period he refers to as "the wilderness years."

It is one of the central ironies of my career that as soon as I got off heroin things started getting really bad. High on dope I was, prior to Gino's, at least a chef - well paid, much liked by crew and floor and owners alike. Stabilized on methadone, I became nearly unemployable by polite society - a shiftless, untrustworthy, coke-sniffer, sneak-thief, and corner-cutting hack, toiling in obscurity in the culinary backwaters. I worked mostly as a cook, moving from place to place, often working under an alias.

Despite a total immersion approach to drugs and debauchery, Bourdain maintains his love of food and a passion for his work throughout. He is a purist with an ironclad work ethic, an ironically common badge of the addict. Bourdain's prose is peppered with profanity and he frequently refers to his customers as "rubes" and those who exist outside the restaurant industry, "civilians." His approach to writing is the same as his approach to food: clear, concise, and lacking in ephemeral B.S. He is, in short, a pleasure to read - or to listen to, as in this case.

As an audio book, Kitchen Confidential soars, because who better to deliver Anthony Bourdain's biting assessment of the restaurant industry than Bourdain himself? The sardonic tone emanates perfectly from the author's own voice. With oaudio books often not the case, but Bourdain proves equally capable behind the microphone as he is behind the laptop, lap tope chef's counter.

Pick up a copy of this book. If you spend any amount of time in New York City restaurants, Kitchen Confidential is a must-read. If you've spent any time working in the culinary arts, Kitchen Confidential is a must-read. For anyone else, Kitchen Confidential will be one of the fastest and sharpest works of memoir that you'll ever have the pleasure of digesting.

Oh yeah, real cool. Read on...
“Kid Nation,” which is scheduled to have its premiere on Sept. 19, is a reality show that takes 40 children ages 8 to 15 to a New Mexico desert ghost town south of Santa Fe for 40 days and challenges them to build an adult-free society.

Several children were injured during the production; four children drank bleach from an unmarked soda bottle and another was burned on her face with hot grease while cooking in an unsupervised kitchen.

The children on the show were required to be available to the producers 24 hours a day and often worked for 14 hours or longer each day

And, last I checked, Lord of the Flies was FICTION!

This is just so unbelievable to me. A reality show bordering on child abuse and neglect? Yeah, what a country!

:(
I read it nowhere - I lived life in many big cities

where they will most definitely confirm, most girls do not report rapes.........in the big urban communities..........and even in small-town America.

Don't have to be stoned to enjoy life. Read the OP
OP said society frowns upon "escaping reality" and should it not be ok to "feel good." I was answering OP, her words, not mine. I do not have to escape anything. I do not consider illegal drugs "cheap entertainment." I have never done and don't care to do. Yes, I am very unusual. I have a wonderful, happy home, no stress, no husband troubles, no children troubles, no financial stresses, do what I like, enjoy my job and don't have to have "little cheap entertainment."

Changing my name.
Too many MT in MT on here now.  I'm changing my name for those I chat with regularly on here.
I think I would consider changing vets, too-sm
after this, as it is not wise to give a cat just dry food. They need the wet food to keep from getting dehydrated. Dry food does not contain everything they need to maintain good health as they have mostly grain and no true meat products. Check with other vets. This one sounds a little too pushy and has a large ego. JMO
changing your OB in the last month of pregnancy?

I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience with changing your OB in the last month of pregnancy? Or if anyone knows anyone who changed their OB late in pregnancy?

Without going into too many details, my OB was away on a personal emergency this week and her partner was not in the office due to the holiday. I was having some problems this week and I needed an OB on Friday. I called but my OB's office only had a recorded message. There was no answering service. So I stuck it out until Satruday and went to the emergency room at the hospital where I was supposed to be delivering this baby. The Triage Nurse at the hospital was so awful and mean to me that I burst into tears and stormed out of there. She didn't flat out refuse me medical attention, but she gave me such a hard time about being there that she made me feel very uncomfortable, and in so many words she forced me out. She was the nastiest most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with in the healthcare industry. DH agrees.

So now DH and I are totally turned off to that hospital and I don't feel comfortable at all delivering there. Fortunately for us, we have 2 other excellent hopsitals close to our house. The problem is, my OB only delivers out of the hospital where I had this incident. So I was thinking of changing back to my old OB for the end of the pregnancy. He delivered my nephew and my sister said she liked him and had no problems with him. But he has not dealt with me pregnant. I just went to him for 2 annual checkups several years ago, then decided to change over to my current OB because my sisters and friends raved about her.

And it's really been a textbook pregnancy -- no problems with me or the baby. He would just need my records sent to him, and he'd need to know that I will be a scheduled c-section. Really at this point all I need is for someone to go in there and get the baby out for me.

Any advice? Do you think he would refuse my case since I'm 35 weeks already? The whole incident is unfortunate, and I love my OB, but I am so turned off to the hospital that I'd be willing to go with another OB just to be able to deliver out of another hospital where we'll feel comfortable and taken care of.

time changing? Eastern

Was Eastern time delayed for some reason- my regular clocks on the eastern and 2 clocks fell back an hour? What is happening?

So tired of changing my clothing day after day after
well, you get the point. I basically am ok while sitting- just when getting up or in the morning, unable to make it 10 feet without an accident. It has been past time I should have seen about this, too busy trying to make that $$$ and other things I got going on. Now is the time!
Changing shoes helped me.
I had a touch of this years ago. I realized it was from one particular pair of shoes. It went away when I quit wearing them. Are you seeing a podiatrist?
Does anyone know if we'll be changing time?? sm
I thought it would've been this past weekend.  Every Halloween it's dark by about 5 pm.  I haven't heard or seen anything about time change.
changing 35 mm slides to pictures?

Has anyone recently changed 35 mm slides into pictures? Do you know who can do it?  I just found loads of slides from my honeymoon 28 years ago.  I forgot my husband and I used to take slides.

You are only responsible for changing your behavior, not someone elses
I am the product of a divorce years and years ago and thank goodness my mother had enough sense to not stay with my father. He was actually caught running around on her with other women. I knew my father growing up, spent time with he and my stepmom, loved her but I missed absolutely nothing by not having him in my house every day. You are responsible for your own self-. The advice you are giving is like saying a man messes around on a woman, drinks too much and maybe after the marriage he will change. You can only make yourself happy, no one else can do that for you. I have never had a time when I could not stand my husband, never and I would believe he probably feels the same. We laugh when others say they have to work at marriage- we just do not get this. Like I said, product of divorce, happily married myself, never missed my father, saw him but never, ever close in my life. By the way, I am one of the older and wiser group also.

We just got our copy this week and after the first few pages - I believe it is going to hurt!! We need it though - husband is really stressed. We have two kids in college and one goes in next year. Two oldest are getting married soon - SCARY STUFF!!
best book
Thanks for the insight. I love to read and have trouble with finding good books. Have you read The Kite Runner? It is one of my all time bests. You have to stay with it though.
In the book
The Five People You Meet is Heaven (obviously fiction) tells about choosing the best time in your life and that is what "your" heaven will be like. I love the thought of that. Am still trying to decide what I could choose.
Do you have his book?
Cesar would say that nobody has established the leadership role, so the dog has taken it. Somebody has to do it.

She's being dominant. The good news is that if you learn how to be the leader and your kids learn to act like Cesar has taught his kids, your dog will happily fill the proper place in the pack. It wouldn't matter if she was 14 years old. Dogs live in the moment. She's been learning all you've been accidentally teaching all this time.

One thing about the process is that you need to dedicate whatever time is needed; you don't give up in the middle of a lesson or you have to start over next time. Get Cesar's book or books and be the a pack leader your dog can be proud to follow. :o>

There are other methods as well, and you can get other books. Many "real" dog trainers think his tactics are way off base, but often they soften after reading his book and seeing where he's coming from. But IMO your dog is a candidate for his methods.

Nothing-In-Life-Is-Free is one popular training method.
