I'm in Florida 30 years and those beautiful beaches
There are plenty of beaches in S. Florida where they have found over the many years MEDICAL WASTE DUMPING. So, no I don't agree that Florida's beaches are all beautiful..........maybe northeast and northwest in the state but certainly not in south florida......
just my take is all........
Have you considered Florida? They have some of the most beautiful beaches I have
ever had the pleasure of walking on in the U.S. My son was stationed at Eglin AFB in Florida; he and my DIL lived in Ft. Walton Beach, and I would go there quite often...I immediately fell in love with their beaches..I usually don't like sand but theirs is white and very fine..they don't call it the Emerald Coast for nothing. The people are very friendly and I had the time of my life there. I also love to fish and they have the best seafood. I am a native Californian but I LOVE FLORIDA. They have a very special place in my heart...just an idea for vacation..
Beaches
.
Do you think those are the only 2 beaches
in the U.S.? You don't have to pick an area with crime to still enjoy beautiful beaches & keep your tourist dollars in our country to help our own damaged economy. We have how many miles of beaches in the U.S.?
Fl may have humidity, but our beaches are
a
Beaches near Disney?
Are there any nice clean beaches anywhere close to DisneyWorld that would be a nice place for kids too on vacation?
Disney has its own beaches
Ah, maybe 5-6 on the property and really loads of fun for everyone. Other that that, Orlando is middle Fla as far as I know, not close to beaches but people more familiar might know differently.
Most beaches have bicycles
for the sand. They are seated like a go kart, sort of, and you lean back/recline, steer with your hands on levers at the side, and pedal out in front of you (like a pedal boat, for lack of a better comparison). I've always meant to rent one. It looks like major fun to me!
My favorite CA beaches:
For wild coastlines, rocky shores, big waves emptiness... the further north the better, such as Mendocino, and on up into Oregon. Upside: Great walks, quiet time & beachcoming. Downside: Colder weather in summer, surf to rough for swimming, and lots of seals = sharks.
For warmer water but more people: Santa Barbara county has outstanding beaches. Further north there are less-populated beaches with good surfing. Also some, like Emma Wood State Beach or Gaviota State Park, where you can camp.
UC Santa Barbara actually has a lovely beach, as well, and the campus is fun to explore on bikes. In town, there is Stearns wharf, warm sandy beaches, art shows along the Cabrillo Blvd. sidewalk on Sundays, a bike path, a zoo, great restaurants, lots of nice day-trips from that area.
Ventura Beach has some nice hotels right near the water, good bathing & surfing beaches.
LA county has many from Zuma to Santa Monica, too numerous to name. Malibu Creek beach is good for body-surfing, because the water coming into the ocean from the creek there is warmer and clearer.
Santa Monica, Venice & Marina Del Rey are my favorite choice because of all the things right along the water there are to do. The bike path goes all the way from Malibu from the north, all the way down to Huntington Beach and beyond. GREAT biking (you can rent them there) and skating (you can rent those there, as well). If you like to shop, there are lots of funky little shops along the Boardwalk near Windward Plaza. On weekends there's always some sort of entertainment going on. Lots of restaurants, from pizza joints to upscale eateries. Also just 10 min. away from the LA Airport, so a short, cheap cab ride from LAX will get you there.
More expensive hotels are along the waterfront, obviously, but with a family and a budget, stay on Washington street - the further from the beach, the cheaper the rates.
Between LA and San Diego, also too many beaches to count. Of course, the further south you go, the warmer. La Jolla, Oceanside, lots of good surfing down there, too.
San Diego - Mission Bay is a great family spot, tons of stuff to do, bike paths, etc. Plus there's Old Town San Diego, and the side trips of the San Diego Zoo & San Diego Wild Animal Park, that you actually drive through.
Now I've talked myself into wanting to go, too! I'd love to spend 4 or 5 days in San Diego or Venice Beach!
I am in California
They have not called yet with results. I am hoping that is a good sign (it is 2:30 PM PST) as with a positive, you'd think it would be a RED FLAGGED biopsy report. I could call but the longer I do not know, the longer I can pretend everything is normal.
I have never been to California but
in Florida my husband and I love Destin. It is very family oriented. We love to stay on Okaloosa Island which is just outside of Destin but just a 2-3 minute drive from restaurants, etc. I would stay away from Panama City as that is where most of the teenagers go to party, but that is just my opinion.
California
Central eastern California in the desert.
Beaches Negril, Jamaica
.
SE VA has some of the ugliest, dirtiest beaches
I've ever seen. Humidity isn't always bad, not nearly like FL. I don't know about WI, but if they have mosquitos like MN does, I'll take humidity any day.
Texas beaches suck.
nm
Agree on TX beaches - not very good.
Crowded, murky and high crime. Would make the drive or flight to FL or Mexico before my short drive to a TX beach.
until the DNA is done in California (case)....they had
Well I do NOT believe Stern is the father at all........but Bahamian law is vastly diffferent from USA law....unfortunately. But there is the DNA case in California ongoing......
I think they didn't want Daniel's DNA accessible and is why he is buried in the Bahamas. However, Larry Birkhead may very well be the father.......so we will all still have to wait until the DNA case is over in California.
Patience............the truth shall prevail..................eventually....even if it takes decades..........it shall surface one day.
Central California . . .
a cool 85 for the high predicted tomorrow - yipee - we haven't seen the 80s in many moons. Still in the 90s here. We all better enjoy it. The Farmer's Almanac is predicting record breaking heat next summer. Hope they're wrong.
Oh come on! California is great. sm
I live near Palm Springs, and it's gorgeous, year round. Oh, as long as you don't mind anywhere from 100-118 degrees for 3-4 months each summer.
But it's a *dry heat* as they like to say, heh. Yeah, like the surface of the sun! Seriously, there is almost no humidity with the heat, which I do think makes a difference. I can't take hot AND humid.
The smart/rich people here leave for the summer and go to their nice cool homes in... Montana, or wherever. Then they come here for our nice, mild winter. (I don't even own a heavy coat.)
Not bad. But it's expensive here, and crowded.
Lots of flu in California
Flu vaccine only covered 40% of flu bugs so I hear.
Southern California $2.20-ish.

Vacations in California
Hi everyone,
The post below got me thinking...I live in WA, and I just wondered - from what I know, the nice beaches I know about in CA are private ones in Malibu. Are there any beautiful, clean beaches in CA that you can take your family to when on vacation? I love the beaches in Mexico, but would like to stay in the US. What do you recommend, if you live there?
California pizza
I always wondered if they were any good... now I can try one
How about the beaches at Miami or even Daytona Beach
Talk about crime. It happens EVERYWHERE or do you not know that?
Santa Rosa, California
Back in the mid to late 80's - I don't know what it's like now.
Picture this: vineyards, apple orchards, redwood forests, ocean 15 minutes away, average temperature 70-75 degrees year round.........oh, I miss it!!!
California Fires, so horrible. On FOX
they were just showing a San Diego reporter reporting on watching his home burning. He had lived there for 25 years. So sad.
It depends where you live. In California, they
have beautiful mobile home parks with lots of amenities. The houses are so expensive there that many people are going to mobiles. In Texas, we have a lot of trailer park trash type places, but in Austin they are building really nice mobile home parks like in California. There aren't many of them though. A few other communities in other states are doing the same. They do depreciate, however. My husband used to sell them and many are crap. Check out ratings on the manufacturers.
Sonoma County, California nm

I am in California but I remember 15 years ago sm
requesting to be placed in a non smoking area of the apartment complex. I guess I am naive - I thought they pretty much had to work with you on this as it is a disability - your asthma? It sounds like a chronic health problem. I am not really saying actual physical disability enough for the ADA but saying it is a health issue and your apartment management should be more cooperative. I do not agree with below posters who say nothing can be done.
Again, I transferred in California to a different district...
and it did not cost anything. I just had to catch the bus at an existing stop for the school I transferred to, which was actually 76 miles from my house, but the bus stop was only 11.
In California, it comes from driver's licenses...
because they don't want to discourage people from registering to vote.
California Pizza Kitchen
makes a very good frozen pizza; for a while I was hooked on the 5-cheese and tomato. You can just see the calories dripping off of it.
If you want clear aqua water and beautiful beaches
or at least they have been in years past, try Cancun. What surprised me was the sand there not hot even with days being in the high 90s or so. Visited other beaches in Mexico as well but Cancun takes the cake. Been to several places in Jamaica but most of the time either Club Med or inclusive resort so mostly used the pools where we stayed. I had the best vacation though ever in my life in Montego Bay, cannot say enough for the fun my children and I had there - would definitely return there. Lots of side trips, just really good times.
MYSTIC SEAPORT, PEABODY MUSEUM, VARIOUS BEACHES sm
Maritime Center. All in CT
Orlando is near middle of state and no beaches close, so
xx
I was born in El Centro, California. I haven't
been there since we left when I was 7 years old (military brat). The town I graduated high school in is where I live now - I remember my senior year I couldn't wait to get out of this place. Seven years later and kids and I couldn't wait to move back - they have great schools!!
I may have to Google my birthplace and see if anything is like I remember. - thanks for the thoughts!
Hi; I was born and raised here, only went to college in California, my cousin recently......sm
bought a beautiful big house and land in North Carolina near the Virgina border, so much more for the $$$$, great area, I don't know about jobs because her husband is older and can take an early retirement, but it is very temperate there, usually lovely weahter, and not AS MUGGY in the summer as it is if you go further south, and also the seacoast is gorgeous. Hope this helps, God Bless, at least the days are getting longer here, it is actualy 53 degrees as I write this, I think the Winters get longer every year, though, in New England, even though I love NE. Take Care!
she's probably in FLORIDA!!!
Yes, it is hot and I am in Florida
I feel the same way, very hot, do not feel like working.
Are you a Florida gal?
Tax free weekend here, too. I'm going shopping!
Hi From Florida
Hi All,
I live in South Florida and I am new to MT Stars. Anybody else from Florida?
At least in Florida
Arrest records are public record. I can go on my county's website and find out if someone has been arrested and what they've been arrested for.
Yep.Florida had one, wonder if we still have it..
When I moved here 14 years ago it was over 500 bucks per car. We did not know that, my husband was just out of law school. It was another way of saying, Yankee go home. I don't know if I dreamed it or not but I think this may have been changed. Not sure. People who still have it should have a redo of the Boston Tea Party only with car plates. LOL.
in Florida also....no problems with
I have heard of HARTZ causing many problems in animals but not Frontline or Advantage. You could probably Google this issue to see what they are saying *out there* about these products but personally, myself, and my daughter (who has 3 dogs and 2 cats) have had no problems with these 2 products. Best of luck to you!
Jacksonville, Florida...
Always something to do and the weather was beautiful...
Florida vacation
There are several things to consider when planning your vacation to the theme parks: If you stay in Kissimmee you'll have to drive to the parks. There has been a lot of road construction on southwest side or Orlando. I don't know if it's completed or not. The hotels associated with the parks have a lot of extras for the kids so you can relax while they watch movies in the pool, ect. The rooms are often suites with murals and fun beds for the kids. There are some that are close to the parks, with shuttles, that might be a bit more affordable than the big ones on the parks. While you certainly have to go to the Magic Kingdom, especially for the younger kids, if you love the big rides Universal's Islands of Adventure is a must too. Our kids are into the bigger thrill rides so they prefer Universal. There's also a nice area for the younger kids at Islands of Adventure that has a Dr Suess theme. October will still be hot down here, but if you want to take a day trip over to the beach it's best to come before December. December temperatures are typically fall-like, but it can get down into the 40s on occasion.
hi there - I'm in south florida....sm
and due to the multi-multi ethnic groups here - MULTITUDES of different groups - we have it all in the supermarkets....
You never had chopped liver? Never eaten chicken livers and onions together just fried up? Never had chicken livers wrapped in bacon and then cooked? Ramaki's I think they are called (can't remember)....
The Argentinians I just read eat twice as much beef as Americans....not a good thing...*lol*
Hmm, what does Florida not allowing have to do with ?
Does Florida allow more things then say the rest of the states or something? Please explain.
The Florida Keys, they are everywhere!

Hey!
My dad used to take me to a campground that was right on the beach. Of course as I go to write this the name of the place has slipped my mind, I'll have to find out and get back to you. But it wasn't that expensive at all (definitely cheaper than a hotel room or condo) and it was so much fun! There is a park right there and a dock to go fishing on and at night you can catch ghost crabs on the shore!
Hope this is helpful! When I find the name of the place I'll let you know!
