We have three dogs - two outside and one inside. About two months ago my husband "babysat" his friend's two labs. Apparently they had fleas and infested our dogs kennel's with them. We have tried every flea shampoo we can find and cleaned their sleeping areas thoroughly and sprayed for fleas...but they keep coming back. And now our inside dog has gotten them....we keep bathing him with flea shampoo as well. But now - the worst!!! They are in our house! So we have used flea powder for the carpet and washed everything and sprayed what cannot be washed or vacuumed. I feel like our whole house is toxic. And I am not convinced we are done with these little critters!! My daughter actually went to school the other day with flea bites on her (all bugs love her)! The rest of us have not been bitten but have found one or two on us at times. Is there a solution??? Please help if you have any ideas! Thanks

What other solutions are there? (sm)
It doesn't seem to me that you are really listening to what people are saying. I wasn't at all nasty in what I advised in my post.
You seem to be focused on the fact that she feels about this dog like it is a child. So let's go with the child analogy. If her human child came over and killed your cats in a violent way and your SIL was like "oh, I'm sorry" and didn't DO anything about her pet-killing child's behavior, how would you feel?
Or go one step better and let's imagine for a second that you felt the same way about your cats as SHE does her dog, as children, members of the family, and her child killed yours? What would you do then? Would you be as concerned about her feelings?
I simply don't understand what you are looking for here beyond what people have said.
mrsa=toxic shock
Did she express anything to get a culture...that is the only way to be sure, and also to be sure what antibiotics she needs. I don't want to scare you, but I nearly died of this ib 1994...I had a cyst/boil. I was waiting for it to get big enough to drain...I get these about every three yrs. This was in my armpit, from shaving. It spread throughout my whole system. Three yrs before the one on my big behind got bigger, but since it was not near any vascular supply, it was just painful rather than deadly.
You can't take this stuff seriously enough. Most of the older antibiotics will not touch it.
The main thing is to get something to culture. That is the ONLY way to be sure what you are dealing with.
There is one from the 10 Minute Solutions group.

But, don't use Advantix if you have cats in your home as it is toxic

Fleas
I have used Advantage in the past but in the last year I noticed that it was not really working. Apparently, the fleas are becoming resistent to the product. Frontline still seems to work very well. I found this out when I googled about my flea problem and also my mother-in-law was a vet tech. She confirmed that Advantage has become less effective. I find the best prices for flea products are on Ebay.
fleas
I use Revolution, got it w/o a script from Canada and it kills worms and earmites too. Love it. Cats seem to be happy about it, too.
FLEAS
Vacuum AT LEAST every three days. I was paranoid that I had them and vacuumed every day. Dump the vacuum canister or bag as the fleas can get out if you just put it back in the closet or wherever you store it. Also fleas will get into the grooves of hard wood or in the linoleum--so vacuum everywhere. I think it takes 3 days for the eggs to hatch.
Program for fleas
I have not heard of Program, but I use Frontline. I have not had NY problems with it. My vet charges $15 for it, but I can also get it at our local Humane Society for $10. With 4 cats, it adds up to quite a bit of money. You might want to try that.
Advantage for cats/fleas
Has anyone found a source for purchasing Advantage at a very good price? I have 7 inside cats and 4 outside. I would be willing to buy this in bulk if the price was more reasonable.
Also, has anyone used something other than Advantage with good luck.
Thank you.
are you sure from mosquitoes? I thought from fleas...nm
