With so many family members with terrible allergies to real trees (or the spray used on them), it's safer for me to have fake. Plus it might be less tempting to the boys to lift a leg on. We'll see.

Only need to get paper products and fish. I have lots of tuna, Spam, canned chicken, sardines, corned beef hash, etc.
Got our veggie seeds last week.
Stocking up on more canned veggies and fresh veggies, mostly potatoes, as soon as I can. Potaoes last quite a while in our cold room, which is an extra bedroom with no heat. Also want to get extra bread. Love homemake bread, but DH doesn't like it for sandwiches, so I have to get store-bought bread for that. I can still buy bread at my local produce store at 2 for $1.75 and it freezes very well. In spring, it used to cost 2 for $1.25, but that's still cheaper than other places.
I'm not doing this because of what's coming. I'm doing it because I've done it for years, but usually in the fall. This fall I could only buy a few things at a time because DH not working, so I figure another month, I'll be back to normal.

very purpose -- to keep the cat off the kitchen counter... stubborn tom cat. All I have to do when he's looking longingly at the counter now is to shake the water gun & he knows what would happen if he decided to go for it... LOL.
Since I'm not average sized, it's hard for me to find really nice fitting clothes.
But I do know how to sew, just haven't done it for a long time. I have stacks of really lovely fabrics, from wools to silks in my attic. Lots of it is inherited stuff that is now vintage. I have a serger and a good machine, and lots of beautiful classic patterns. I did make a nice wrap dress for the holidays, so I've been inspired to do more. What I'd like to do is find a really good used dress form somewhere... maybe ebay. It's so much easier to tailor the fit if I can stand next to a dress form, exactly my size, and adjust the pattern and seam lines. You can't do that while you are wearing an incomplete garment with pins in it! It's like trying to cut the back of your hair for yourself.

On a personal note, I do think he did better last night, but IMO he is not good enough to stay. There are far better others, and even some that are already gone!

Christmas in ND in 1992 and cats not staying out of the tree no matter what, drinking all the water, chewing on the needles. Went to fake and up to 9 feet tall now and really no problems at all even if there is a kitten at Christmas time. Such a difference at our house going from real to fake. Plus, no zillion needs to clean up. I do miss the fragrance, but it was either the cats or the real tree and the cats won! :-)

I'm allergic so real is not an option. We have a big one but bought a thinner one last year. They are both pretty tall though. It just took up so much room in our living room. We were tired or rearranging the furniture around the xmas tree. The new one rotates so you can see all the ornaments!

First fake tree ever!
I put it up last night and I have to say, it's quite impressive! Lots of lights, nice shape, easy to put together and even has a remote control to switch the lights on and off. I miss the smell of a real tree but not the mess.

Fake for the past 3 years
I love it. Lights came attached and are remote control, no untangling of lights! Not to mention I bought it on sale 3 years ago for $99 so it's already more than paid for itself. I miss the smell of a real tree but not the mess and constant watering and picking up needles, trying to keep my animals from drinking out of the water in the base, etc. :)

at all. I know that when my son first got his braces off it was very, very strange. I called him Willie Wonka for a few days. They were just sooo perfect it was kinda freaky, but the strangeness wore off after a few days. Does your son like how they turned out?

When you go to church and your husband puts his arm around you in front of everyone and they all think he's so great and that you are such a nice happy family. And if I ever say anything about things not being great to anyone at church they act like I am just being a bad wife. However, I have not talked to the pastor, which now that you mention it, is probably what I should do right away.

I know full well that I was able to...
say "no" to sex at 18 years old, and 17 and 16 and even before that. I knew what sex was and how babies are made. I dated older men and I held my ground. I do believe that all 16, 17 and 18-year-olds know exactly what they are getting into. I think the man is a creep and that he, because of his authority position, had an obligation to stay away from her, but I just can't see two consenting adults having sex as a crime. Many of them dedicate their ministries beyond the pulpit to domestic violence and abuse. I'm not saying he is or isn't a scumbag, I'm just saying if you had no idea the woman's husband left her until after she had died and you were at the funeral, then you probably don't know much else about her personal life.
