When a person decides to cheat, they find all kinds of excuses to try and avoid the basic fact that they are doing something wrong.

When a person is cheated upon, they have a tendency to wonder what SHE did wrong to deserve to be treated that way. In other words, classic blame-the-victim mentality. Nothing could be further from the truth, though. But much like Medquist, the men have a way of making the women feel like it's their fault that they weren't pretty enough, interesting enough, or whatever enough.
