May I remind you that Roe V Wade was the product of a handful of activist judges?? ANYwhere wholesale abortion has been on a ticket for all of US out here to vote on, it was defeated. They tried first to make it a "state" issue, and it was voted down. So activist judges overturned the will of the people and now we have abortion on demand. So PLEASE do not insinuate that the majority of people would vote FOR abortion, because you are VERY MUCH mistaken.

In the minority
My parents have 20 acres in the middle of nowhere with a few other houses scattered on their hill. They leave doors unlocked as the norm. Not unusual for them to come home and find one of their horses on their back porch. The "good ole days" still exist in some places!
Okay, I am in the minority here, that is okay, it was JMO.

in my family. My husband and stepdaughter think he is hysterical. My daughter can take him or leave him. Only one agreeing with me is stepson.
The guy I really hate is the "Girls Gone Wild" jerk. Again, stepdaughter and daughter think girls are to blame for getting involved with that, whereas stepson and myself feel they are being exploited.

I would definitely say something to him and his wife as well so that way she can know how ignorant he is as well. That is terrible to say that to a kid. They have to deal with enough growing up right now. They should have to deal with ignorant parents like that to!

I would wager the majority of women in the world do NOT wear spiky high heels. I certainly don't because I'd fall off! And her remarks about makeup? I don't wear 5 layers of makeup either.
Oh and not to mention her comments about long hair are based in a verse in Bible from a letter from Paul to the Corinthians. NOT the word of God but the opinion of Paul so :P

That just shows that he really doesn't care all that much about how you feel or what you want. He seems to think that it's all about him. I would be furious if my husband pulled that kind of stuff! Mine is very good about that sort of thing, and he always asks or suggests and doesn't just say "this is what we're doing." I would be especially annoyed if he was planning a vacation with someone that I didn't even know!

Now this may not be your answer, but he said that most cameras don't print directly to a printer. You would have to connect the camera to your computer and then to the printer. He said that if there is the capability to print directly from camera to printer, you would need a USB port.
I just bought my daughter and my son's GF Sony digital cameras, but they just download onto computer and don't print; otherwise I'd ask one of them.
Hope someone can help you out better than I. Might want to call Best Buy (or similar). They might be able to help you too.

what about the german shepherds or the chow-chows that attack people? pitbulls get blamed because they get put in the hands of BAD OWNERS. because of their reputation, bad people like to own them cause they think they are tough, therefore not properly caring or treating their pitbulls right, and therefore leading to the injuries you speak of.
Guess what, my dogs are aggressive dogs, one of them is a freaking jack russell/border collie mix and the other is an american bulldog (bulldog family not pit) and a boxer! for god's sake!
dont ONLY blame the pitbulls. it's pathetic how people do that. Any attack on a human from a pitbull is terrible, but they are not the only ones that do it!
You are ignorant about feed lots.
There are many large feed lots for horses that are fattened up and then sent to one of the 3 big slaughter houses in Texas to be sent off to Belgium, Japan, etc, in the form of steaks. I have myself rescued riding horses from auction by outbidding the killer buyers. There are bills pending that will outlaw this terrible thing, but the administration of Bush is against the bill and is supportive of the horse slaughter trade. I have known individuals over the years, being a horse owner and lover, that would buy horses and then fatten them up and resell them to kill buyers or to the slaughter house themselves. Many of these were horses that weren't fast enough on the track to make money, and also good riding horses, they were just worth more as meat. Go to any horse auction and you will see good horses going for slaughter just because that is who is the highest bidder. It is a heartbreaking experience.

I was taught to "always ignore the ignorant."
Unfortunately, I've run into people like that before, and I just ignore the comment, make nice chit-chat for a few minutes and "see you later alligator." At least, I demonstrated what my values are and did not degrade myself to their level. The main word here is "ignorant." There are so many people out there that are ignorant of their own manners, ignorant of other people's feelings, just tactless mules.

It's merely a case of misinformation or improper education to her family on how to treat the problem, in no way is lice infestation and lack of getting rid of them completely a sign of neglect.
Maybe this mom just plain doesn't understand how to get rid of them completely or perhaps there are other things going on in her life that this isn't getting dealt with properly. They need support not ridicule as some of the posters have said - obviously since you've been there you should know it isn't as easy as people think to get rid of them.

The only human thing doesn't cut it. I have worked in hospitals for many years, observed nurses and MDs in action. When administering drugs, there is no excuse for massively overdosing newborns with Heparin. The nurse was probably talking her head off to somebody, had her mind on 10 different things instead of what she should have been doing - passing meds.
If she was tired, then she should not have passed meds or should have had somebody help her to doublecheck herself.
I hope they sue the pants off that nurse and the hospital, too.

I would just tell her sorry, want to go when we girls can spend some time together. If invited somewhere, anyone knows you just don’t make arrangements for a third party to come along- unless you ask first if ok.

when caught with contraband. He is probably just experimenting at this point but you want to nip that in the bud. He needs to really see what the effects of that will be and that he may think he can stop at any time but the problem is he won't know that he can't stop until it has already happened. I've always felt that stressing the inside damage they are doing to themselves is important but with a teenager looks are really what they care about- try stressing how unattractive and smelly they make a person, where girls that might be interested would pass because of the smoking.

How about using the economy as an excuse? You could phrase it that you don't want her to spend her money or something like that. She may seem to enjoy it, but she might jump at the chance to cut one thing out of a crazy shopping season.
Good luck. My family and I stopped exchanging gifts years ago. None of my brothers or sisters have kids and we all decided that we were broke and stressed and just didn't need to do it. It's made Chrismtas much more relaxing. We just get together for a nice dinner and have a good time.

I am a Pastor's wife. Well, that will probably tell you volumes in itself. He is right-wing Lutheran, and I come from a moderate Lutheran background. Well, needless to say I know what you are going through except I am supposed to set an example to the ladies at church that the man is the leader of the house and we are not to publicly or privately question his decision, because that is the Biblical way. Well, sinner or not, I think this leads to men thinking they are always right, we are not their equal, we have no say, and it becomes a control issue. So... my heart is with you. I have yet to figure out this patriarchal thing. Believe me, I have voiced many times that I am good at some things, he other things and in discipline with children, we are equal not one better than the other. I think men are supposed to act responsibly not controlling and this is where the confusion comes in. When they refuse our opinion or disrespect us, I feel they are not living up to their role as protector and are acting like babies. But then again, they say I am a Pastor's wife who needs to go to Pastor's wife school, because my opinions are for equality and I have zero tolerance for domestic abuse. I am sorry if this does not answer your question or help you, but I do want to say I sympathize and you are not incorrect. There is no reason for a man to be controlling or to be rude, senseless and overbearing. When I figure out the answer to my situation I'll let you know. All I can say is to this day publicly and at home I stick up for equality, and I do not accept abusive male behavior and I don't care who doesn't like it. Zero tolerance from me. Leads to a tense household, but it could be worse, dishonesty is absolutely worse. Sorry for the soap box. Please hang in there and keep yourself safe and happy. :)
