My hubby and I are Civil War re-enactors and after living together for 6 years we decided to kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak. We were married in a non-denominational chapel by a Protestant chaplin from the Dept of Pub Safety in Detroit. (he re-enacted also.

your son returned the stuff?
Perhaps something more could be worked out between the store, your son, and the police (or his counselor) so you needn't pay this fine.
What's the basis of their civil lawsuit if they got their stuff back?
It's not like he's a habitual criminal. Tell the court you'll just add it to your bankruptcy because that's where they're pushing you. Or see if you can make $5 a month payments. The kid is crying out for help here. How is it going to help him if you guys have more bills?

The poor kid told a supervisor and another employee, obviously concerned about her mistake, and they okayed the serving of the meat anyway.
Hope some hot shot lawyer comes to her aid. This is beyond ridiculous.
Gee, maybe we should all have food servers arrested the next time they put onions on our burgers if we ask for NO ONIONS!
Where is that guy who follows the NY cops around filming them when they break the law in the course of duty?! Hope he picks up on this one.
