Ok, I give up. What can you use to make the leaves shiny, mayonnaise or baby oil or just what? Thanks

Dull leaves
I use milk. Dip a wet washcloth in milk and wipe each leaf. It is time consuming, but it makes them shine like crazy. It has never hurt one of my plants. Good luck!

Here's how it works at our household....sm
This is for our 6-year-old....
1. Verbal warning to stop the negative behavior.
2. If she continues then she receives a time out for 6 minutes. Time out is spent in a chair and she is allowed to do nothing while sitting there.
3. If she continues with the negative behavior or talks back about having the time out then she loses TV privileges for the day.
4. If the negative behavior still continues then the restrictions are increased to not being allowed to play with the neighbor next door if it's early in the day, or not being allowed into the art room if it's after dinnertime (her favorite room to go to is the art room).
5. If the negative behavior still continues then if it's early in the day she is put down for a nap as often times a nap will get the bad behavior to stop, and if it's around dinnertime or later she is put to bed early.
Kids respond to consistency so be sure that whatever route you take with your kids that they know ahead of time what correct behavior is expected as well as the consequences for negative behavior. Reward them when they're being good for a certain time period. Smaller kids respond well to stickers and a sticker chart that they can redeem "x" stickers for a small prize. We use a grab bag of things I got at the dollar store that she is allowed to grab something out of the bag (without seeing what is in there) every few days for good behavior. When she came to live with me at age 4 (she's our foster-to-adopt child) she had horrible behavior and I would remind her every day if she was good she could have it at the end of the day, then weaned it to every other day, every 3rd day and now it's used once a week. Initially I would get through all 5 layers of discipline constantly with her but now it's very rare that I have to go past the TV restrictions to get her to make the right choice and behave.
Neither my husband nor I believe in spankings and even after the adoption is finalized in a few months we will not spank her. It's more effective to take away privileges and that lasts longer than a swat on the butt does.
Dull hair after coloring, what to do?
My hair is soooo dull and limp. Any suggestions on what I can use to make it look like it has some life? Thanks.
Onto NY Eve - do we go out, host a party, or play it dull

Dull one here, daughter having a freind stay the night - sm
did the same thing last year. Though my one neighbor usually invites everyone on the street over for an informal party. So I usually pop in and have a beer, chat a while, eat, and then mosey on home well before midnight. DH will stay home with the kids while I socialize. He will definitely be asleep, I usually am up watching a movie then stop at 12 to watch the ball drop. He does not like to go out on nights when (more of) the drunks are on the roads, calls it Amateur night (New Years and St. Patrick's day). Remember the parties my parents used to have, they had a good time that is for sure, lots of good memories of their parties.
Can anyone that has an older vinyl floor that is dull tell me how to get it to shine a little but
not make it slippery with wax. Thanks much.
raking leaves and singing
Any daylight you can get will give you a boost. I just got finished with 19 bags of leaves and picking up sticks (tree limbs). I sang outloud the whole time any song that came into my head....Still have 3/4 of the property to do, but that's for another day. Now, time to make dinner.

this has nothing to do with whether or not it hurts or leaves a bruise(sm)
This is about the fact that you are choosing to let your daughter be humiliated in public. It may be done behind closed doors but there will be a witness there and everyone she knows (and probably doesn't know) will know it happened. Also, I tend to agree with the poster above who referred to this act as similar to a fetish and that whole aspect of this. This is not about punishment. It's about actually letting someone humiliate your child. I can only think of one other thing that would be worse - it has four letters, begins with an r and ends with an e. I'm absolutely appalled at this!

Borax worked for us too. So do eucalyptus leaves...
placed under couch cushion, in pet beds, etc. First we used Advantage, then did the Borax. Worked great on 4 cats. We were dog sitting and the little critter came along, but are gone now.

Plants
Put a plant on it! If it is big, a large fern ought to do it!
all of those plants are pretty well known -
but how many flower arrangements have lillies - and I had never heard about that. So - no cut flowers either. Nope, he had never had any wet food in his entire life. The vet is still perplexed - we have done renal ultrasounds and blood work. His BUN and creatinines were off the charts. I frankly don't know how he is still alive at this point.
Me, too. My plastic plants die. nm

They don't seem to bother my plants
at all. They do, however, ravage my birdfeeders this time of year and throughout the winter. I used to wage war against them but I've softened in my old age. Now I figure they need to eat and survive too so I just let them be.
Fertilize the plants with him. (NM)

How do you clean artificial plants? (sm)
Seriously - the green ones (not flowers) how do you get the dust off of them? LOL
IGood smelling plants/flowers?
I love nice smell! I have loads of green plants in my home but would like to have ideas of something I can have on a regular basis inside that gives off a nice fragance. I do not have a clue as to what to buy and I would really like to know of something that would not require too much care. I can do the plants but do not have much of a green thumb. Thanks!
For really big plants, I put cotton socks on my hands and just rub
s
I have heard you can apply hot pepper to plants

Anyone have any ideas on how to clean artificial plants, flowers?
I do have the real things in my home but in the bedroom I have several plants and/or flowers that really need a good dusting. I do not think I should put them under water. I would rather have the real plants all over the house but have to be careful of some because of my furkids. Thanks!
I can't keep plants alive, lucky my children are still living. nm
!
Can't give you any advice of keeping plants alive, I'm
lucky my children are still living. LOL!
Plants will attract gnats, as will ripe fruit.
If the gnats are congregated in one area, sticky bug cards will help catch them for you. Or you can kill them by spraying them directly with an ammonia-based cleaner like many glass-cleaning formulas.
You can grow tomato plants upside down from hanging pots, too.

Larege amount of horses at packing plants/feed lots
coincidentally happen to be TBs. They are a huge throw-away market. Once they are done racing, unless they are one of the incredibly lucky few to be adopted out to knowledgable homes for other careers or are of breeding quality, they usually don't wind up in too good of a place afterwards. I'm a nobody, and I've had 3 of these throw-aways land in my lap. Yes, there are some responsible owners/breeders who ensure these animals are taken care of for the rest of their days, racing career or not, then there are an awful lot of others who see them as the cash crops they are and nothing more.
Great shade plants are coleus, ferns, hostas, begonias

I use a nonalcohol screen cleaner for my LCD screen and it leaves a film all over it. Nasty and
it is made for LCD screens and a well known name. Any suggestions. I have to use clean water on a wipe to get the film off.
My plants died when husband still alive but after he died
surprisingly I grew lots of plants and still have them. My housekeeper says he was the devil and that is why the plants died. I was just as bad as you back then, killed artificial plants.
