Found this on an India website.

There is a sizeable presence of Americans of Indian origin in the US. If the Indian diaspora in the US could jam the phone lines that are open for voting, Sanjaya could make it to the final (top 12) this week and stay on as long as the votes keep pouring in.

Sanjaya may not be the most talented in the top 16. But using him, the diaspora can make their presence felt on the American political and social landscape.
