My MIL gave me the first three and said I would love them. I did but too much because I stayed up until 3 last night to finish the last one! I went out today and bought 4 through 13! I feel like a junkie but I absolutely love them!

The Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. They are mysteries of a sort...
but rather light in that regard. They are hilarious and very character driven.
Janet Evanovich's books about
Stephanie Plum are wonderful. They are fast reads, very funny, relaxing. "One for the Money" is the first one.
Stephanie Plum
I have red them all and love them. I am on the waiting list at my local library to read her newest one. I cannot wait to start it.
Definitely Janet Evanovich for you!
If you've already read one, get two or three and there's also several in-between books that are hilarious! There's also a book out that I'm recommending to all my friends - it's called Me and Mr. Darcy by Alexandra Potter. It's a hilarious take on Pride and Prejudice set in the here and now. As for your son, sorry I can't help - my son is 8 and reading Harry Potter. I've no clue what a 17-year-old would like.
if they had read their history books, they would not need to ask..nm

That's why I don't read anything else but self-help books. Guffaw. nm
Y me?
I've read the books (sm)
We actually got HBO solely for the reason of watching this series. So far it is...okay? I love the books but the series is not sticking strictly to them, and is changing some things that I don't think should be changed. However, by itself, I do like the series. Just hate it when they go from books and change majorly seriously big things!!

My daughter had the books and I read them
at 50. Absolutely love them and am going with my daughter and her friends to see it. I was disappointed after I read the last book that there were not more.
I am currently also watching TrueBlood on HBO and absolutely love it. It is based on a series of 9 books and I am on book #5. Certainly would not recommend the series or books for young teens (very graphic in all aspects), but very good series. The series is not following the books, which is a little disappointing however.
I only hope the Twilight movie in in line with the books.
I just read 2 books on menopause sm
Apparently once you miss your first period, it takes on average 4 years for the peri- and full-blown menopause to be completed. Some get through faster, some slower. I'm 50 and have only missed a single period so far, but the mood swings are horrendous already, as well as the increased bleeding. EEEK - this is not gonna be fun!
Google Dr Christiane Northrup; she's written extensively about the process.
Do you remember the names of any of the books you read?
Not OP but feeling the same way for a long, long time. Would like it to be better.
I believe we read the John Gray books because that was what was out then, but -
I think Dr. Phil's books are better and more practical. We got the relationship book when it came out to see if there was anything else we could work on. Go to counseling and REALLY work on it. It will work if you give it a chance (for the most part). I will tell you there were couples in our class who were FAR worse off than we were who said at the end they never felt closer. Not sure where they are at now, but I know for a fact my hubby and I have never been closer or happier. Remember, put as much effort into your anger, resentment, etc., as you do into cultivating a good relationship. Most of the time men are clueless the little things they do harden our hearts to them and are very open to doing what it takes to make us happy once they find out what we want and need. Good luck to you. :-)
You need to read some books on early Hebrew beliefs

Do young girls still read Nancy Drew books? - sm
I know I read them when I was around 10 or 11, but that was 30 years ago and I am not sure what girls read these days. I am trying to find someone who would really appreciate them because I believe my mom buying me my first one truly led to a love of reading that continues today (true crime no less!). I may just donate them to our local library. Any other ideas?
Plum lover
Yep, I just finished #12. I know #13 is out there, but probably will wait until it comes out in paperback. I got all mine 1-12 on E-Bay, so as not to pay too much. Also have read some of Evanovich's other books, but they don't hold a candle to the Plum books. She always makes me laugh. Too bad they can't be turned into movies, but then the stories usually are not as good. Happy reading to you!
Dear Janet
If you can get past the biting stage when they are teething - the rest is a breeze. If you don't like it - don't look - but it is not "odd".
Checking up on Janet sm
Did you get any answers from the thoracic doctor about your rib pain? I hope you were able to get a diagnosis of some kind and get some treatment planned.
Oh, I agree it's dumb, but I just want to see Stephanie GET IT!
Brooke confronted Stephanie about Ridge (sm)
Stephanie admitted to her what had happened. Brooke went to call police so they could explain what happened, and Stephanie grabbed her from behind and wrapped a phone cord around her neck!!
I've sold 125 books on half.com but most were my childrens college text books. I have sold some
t I picked up for a quarter at a thrift store. Old Dr. Seuss books do well. I price them a bit lower than the rest of the pack and put that they are from a nonsmoking home. Half.com does take a small commission but they deposit the check in your bank account monthly.
Books! That's it? Books! I was expecting
maybe some leather chaps or some strap ons by the sound of your post! lol
Anybody hooked on the PBS War series?
it's so horrifyingly fascinating and sad. It has a way of taking you back to that time. I had no idea how much the public was lied to by the media about what was going on. I hear it's doing great in the ratings.
Not hooked, but I saw it last night and it was very - sm
interesting. Never really knew that much about WWII. Not surprized the US government lied about stuff back then. Guess some things will never change.
Ah, that hooked totally just did not fly
with the question of the medicine. This medicine is for my grown daughter and she is having a difficult time and just wondering if anyone ran up against the same. Thanks.
I could easily get hooked too. That is why I
do not watch those shopping channels anymore.
Anyone else hooked on Project Runway?
Finale is tonight! Who do you think will win? I think it will be and want it to be Michael.
Yes! love it!! I got hooked last year!
I don't agree with the polygamy lifestyle either, but never seen it before. Maybe that is why it is so fascinating!!
I hooked up with my dear friend after 30 yrs
She was my first roommate - We lost contact because both our phone #s were and still are nonpublished for 40 years.......her son is my godson - we all rehooked up, I flew to see them in the mountains - it was TRULY LIKE 30 years HAD NOT PASSED! Yes, we all look older but it was like we just picked up where we had left off. It was a great feeling. And her son and I see each other 4-5 times a year, he and his children stay here regularly.
Hope you find the same!!! Old good friends are hard to replace.....
We are also hooked on guitar hero
and my "closet" game is Webkinz!!
Can't afford to be hooked to anything, except typing right now!!!
nm
I love them too...a friend of mine got me hooked..
I am now on 9...Stephanie Plum is a great character. I love the East Coast references because I grew up in Philly, so TastyKakes have a special place in my heart!
Does anyone bead? Just tried it and I'm hooked!! Any good web sites? Thanks. nm

I'm hooked on this show. Was surprised it didn't
Yeah and I can't wait! I got hooked on Jericho and
was sooo disappointed when they canceled it. It didn't just go on hiatus, they flat out canceled it. But, thanks to many, many fans and sending all those NUTS, it's going to be back on at least for another 7 episodes. I hope they get great ratings so they will write more episodes. I was bummed out that Gerald McRaney didn't want to stick around. Oh well, he'll just have to be fondly remembered.
I love the Thorne/Donna thing. Can't wait till Donna sticks it to Stephanie.
If I don't read before I go to sleep I can't fall asleep. I will read sm
until I begin to fall asleep. They say reading relaxes you fully and it works wonders for me.
I used to suffer from insomnia, but not since I've been doing this - about 5 years now.
Plus, I've grown so much and have gained wisdom by doing so. I enjoy Christian books and reading the Bible.
There are books
http://www.dog-training-talk.com/book-how-to-housebreak-your-dog-in-7-days-revised-pp2-215.html
Books
I loved Anne of Green Gables, and I also loved the Nancy Drew books.
Books
I couldn't get enough of Dr. Seuss. My father used to read Green Eggs and Ham to me allllllll the time. I gave him a copy when my son was born so he could carry on the tradition with his grandchildren. I then moved on to Sweet Valley High.
more books
Ok then my kids loved all the Dr. Seuss books and Mercer Mayer books!
Try these books - sm
The God Delusion and God is NOT Great. You are not alone.
books
are there any books that tell how to become an IC?
my son had always liked the J.R. Tolkin books sm
like Lord of the Rings, etc. just a suggestion.
Med transcription books
I was wondering if any one could recommend a good drug book. Also, does anyone have any recommendations for a good surgical book? Thanks!
to sell more books
She wants to create more hype about the books. I agree, I don't think it was at all appropriate to discuss that in relation to what is marketed as a children's book.
One more suggestion - buy the books
second-hand and/or get the paperbacks for those out in paperback. No need to go broke.
Which is better - books or movies?
I never really caught on to the whole Harry Potter thing - it even took me a while to like the movies. But everyone is so crazy about the books, my curiosity is killing me. I don't have a lot of extra money to invest to quash my curiosity, so which should I invest in - the movies or the books? I do know that usually books are better than movies, but I'd hate to spend all that money if the movies are just as good!
I loved them both, but get the books
and then nobody will have to talk you into seeing the rest of the movies, LOL.
Plus with the movies you don't get into Harry's head as much, and that's where you get to know Harry. I can only imagine that people who only see the movies don't know him nearly as well as the readers do.
Guest books are not new
I had one at my wedding 22 years ago. I was also guest book attendant for a friend from high school. Got there early, got to see everyone as they came in and say hi to people I hadn't seen in awhile. Not that big of a deal. Of course, she didn't tell me what I had to wear, either.
My favorite books
My absolute favorite book of all time is Paint the Wind by Cathy Cash Spellman. My next favorite which are hard to find (the author passed away) is by Day Taylor - The Black Swan & Moss Rose.
I used to like Danielle Steele until she started making her characters snooty, but her older books Thurston House, Palamino and The Ring are some of my favorites.
Another good one is Barbara Taylor Bradford's "A Woman of Subtance". Bout a woman from the 1800s/early 1900s who went from being a maid to being a successful business woman. My husband saw the movie and he loved it.
However, I wish I still had the book Paint the Wind. I could read that over and over and over.
Truly A Day for the History Books
DH replaced the empty toilet paper roll last night.
In the 32 years we have been together, this is the first time I can remember him replacing a roll. Please don't tell anyone else because they would probably kick him out of the He Man Club, which all men who don't replace rolls (and that would be 99% of them) secretly belong to.
This is one of those days where, years from now, I will think back about what I was doing when I discovered it. (Sort of like people do with other significant historical events.)
In my world, this is at least as big as discovering a cure for cancer, landing a man on the moon, or discovering life in outer space, so I just wanted to share the good news with you - because, ladies, it proves that there is hope for the rest of you!
