Not around here, and glad.....I don't *do* meat scraps! lol

My husband recycles (scraps). sm
My husband recycles/scraps and makes good money at it. If you have a scrap yard near by, your kids may want to check it out. You have to be 18 to get into the yards so you would have to go with them. This is more than picking up bottles along the road. He picks up things like TVs, vacuum cleaners, anything with a motor in it...ceiling fans, etc. You name it he has scrapped it. You have to break everything down into different components...copper with insulation, clean copper, cast iron, cast steel, aluminum etc. You have to take the freon out of A/C units and refrigerators. Scrap copper is $3 a pound here in Michigan.
I don't know where you live or what your kids have in mind, but it is a dirty job. I always tell my husband, where else can you get dirty and get paid for it. And my favorite part of his scrapping is watching the guy who runs the crane with the big magnet on it. I want that job when I grow up. LOL.
Good luck to your kids.
Or her lips re-injected?
What's your favorite chapped lips remedy? sm
Usually ChapStick works for me but I've got a bad case of chapped lips right now that nothing is helping. What do you use?
I agree, these do not come off, and sort of stain your lips, lol
But if you reapply the gloss often it looks nice.
Hubby said they throw lips and noses in there!
Don't know if he was kidding, but lost my appetite. Would love to see Spamalot, love Ben Gazzara, he was in it in NY.
"Bring out your Dead." "But I'm not dead yet!" "Shut up, stop being a baby!!" Something like that. Too funny. Crazy is good these days.
For me it is lack of sleep. I also can get them if my lips are chapped and peeling
and I bit at them, I will wake up the next day with a cold sore...I also get them on the rim of my nose and inside my nose(gross I know)and these come from me rubbing my nose too much from allergies!!!! Lysine helps some but I still tend to get them....STRESS, stress, stress!!!
2 eyebrows, 2 eyes, nose, lips, and a lot of wrinkles
Shelties or Australian Sheep Dogs are great family dogs. rm

These dogs appear to be puppy mill producing dogs.
The two females, which I thought were older, appear to be just worn out/depleted. Their teeth are those of a 3-5 year old dog. So, I do believe they have had litters each cycle and are suffering from malnourishment.
Funny thing, yesterday, they were covered with mud (it rained and they were digging) and this morning, I look out and see they have all been grooming as they are clean.
Called Love of Animals who has committed to spaying/neutering the animals, giving them their shots, flea repellant and showing them at Pets Mart on Sundays. In a few months, there will be a regional dog show at the local college where on average 150 dogs are adopted out and she asked that I keep them until then.
Which I will...And a girl saw the ad for the Lost Pets and is looking for a replacement for her Shi Tzu she lost a year ago and will come by tomorrow morning.
I have my dogs on it, and yes all my past dogs but 2 have died -sm
from cancer. But I had 2 schipperkes on Frontline for years and one died at 13 from cancer, the other at 16 just from old age/kidney failure. My last husky was 8 when she died from cancer, but I have had one die at 2 (unknown causes), and another at 9.5 from liver cancer (she actually made a nice recovery but succumbed about 6 months later), but huskies don't tend to live past 10 unfortunately. I have had purebreeds and mutts, and with or w/o Frontline/Advantage they have all died from cancer. I suppose it is possible that it causes it, but if you live long enough, cancer will most likely be your cause of death, anything and everything causes cancer anymore. I hate fleas and ticks and we have lots of them, so the dogs get the Frontline except in the cold winter months. They are 6 and 3 and both doing quite well.
And dogs don't bite right? Love my dogs but I

my dogs are basically indoor dogs sm
but have a doggie door to go in and out as they please. Sometimes our Jack Russell gets excited and barks inside the house. My DH grabs is belt and snaps it and the loud noise shuts her up right away. I am not trying to frighten our dog, but many times just saying knock it off doesn't work.
Ugh, which is why I don't eat meat or
questionable meat-by-products.
but how does it change the meat?
By the way--cattle are slaughtered past the age of two. When old cull cows are made into hamburger, they add back fat from younger cattle because the fat on the older cows is yellow and people would not eat it. I also know that cattle eat things other than grass. We still graze cattle on grass land and manage our pastures well. (Western states also have public grazing land and some even graze the desert.)It is only cost effective to the cow-calf producers who do not feed grain. Slapping a grass-fed tag on beef and calling it a niche market makes it more expensive for the consumer and is controversial to me. Feed lots do not keep cattle off of grass land. We must keep in mind that this country must manage beef somehow because of how much we consume and export. Beef is a valuable commodity and a big business. If it could be handled in a way that was more cost effective, it would be.
Thank goodness I don't eat meat! ugh...

What's the best cut of meat for homemade philly...
steak subs? Our family loves them and we usually buy the frozen philly cheese steak meat...but I just can't stomach the smell of it even cooking anymore because it is sooooo greasy. I want to try to make some homemade from a fresh cut of meat. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
Canned meat - the spinach of Dog

I caught the blues when trying to eat the red meat
because husband is a health food junkie and I think sometimes he expects the same of me. I love steak but hardly eat-are shrimp bad for someone who has high cholesterol? He eats fish- I don’t care for- fish is fish is fish to me- all taste alike except for the shrimp with the sauce and horse radish in it- yummy! My physician when I mentioned about my cholesterol told me to tell hubs to leave alone- mine was excellent and I could eat most anything. So there, man of the house!!
Too afraid of meat in restaurants now sm
Their meat may be old (sorry). If we do go, will only go to very busy place as even some bought at market are questionable. We have gift certificates which we appreciate as they are from busy places. Sometimes we have a "UFO" party. Unidentified freezer objects - if they're too old we throw them out. Buying light these days.Takes common sense, hopefully things will turn around in ཅ but for now I am being extremely careful and not loading up on meat either unless we intend to eat it soon. Perhaps I'm too cautious but things are rough right now for everyone, even the markets, restaurants, etc. I sure hope the turkeys are okay, even in good times we've gotten "bad ones" - have to open them up and be sure. Martha likes to brine hers in salt water - not a bad idea these days to check them out before it's too late the day of or the day before. Fresh is best - wish we had our own farm as some do.
How easy would it be for you to give up meat?
All forms of meat - beef, pork, chicken, venison....and anything else I'm missing.
It wouldn't be too hard for me.
me hungry... me eat meat....arghhh
One time I ate a beef rib and got an artery. That made me so sick. Yet, I did not stop eating meat. I have seen a deer gutted in my front yard and it did make me sick, but I ate him. I saw how they treat chickens and blah blah blah, but I still eat MEAT. I must be some kind of psycho! Nope, just human. We need protein. I just have to lay off the cow. Although I will say that I am picky and will not eat fat, arteries, skin, or anything else that just isnt pure meat.
Sort of - I generlly buy some hamberger meat, and whatever - sm
is on sale and bring it home for 2 or 3 days worth of meals. My DH does 95% of the cooking. We generally buy what is on sale, whole chickens, thighs/breasts, pork chops, have tacos, I do pot roasts now and then. My mom used to make out a weekly list every Wednesday or so, and do the weekly shopping Thursday after work. We would drop about $100, this was in the late 80s/through 90s. My DH is actually better at shopping than I am and comes home with a lot for $50. Scan the food ads and plan around them, best way (and cheapest) way to do it.
Again, the end times. I'm sorry, but what other explanation is there? Steroids in our meat? I don

looking for a spagetti sauce recipe without meat.
Does anyone have a tomato sauce recipe without meat? The only reciipe I have calls for ground up beef. I am serving chicken cutlets and spagetti on the side. My DD inlaws to be is coming to dinner so I want it to be perfect.
Sauce can be for crockpot or stove.
Thanks. I always enjoy the recipes on this board.
Cracklins have a little more meat attached, only difference.

This veg head never uses meat in stuffing, or chicken broth. nm

My SIL makes it this way and the meat basically falls off of the bone.
I know that once she gets the pork seasoned, she puts in a small roasting pan and then sets it in a "bano maria" at 250 degrees like for 10-12 hours depending on the size. I will see if I can get the recipe from her. As far as the seasoning, it all depends which way you want it, for Cuban style mojo seasoning, it can be bought already made in a bottle at the grocery's store in the international food section, probably Goya brand. Then, there is the other seasoning with the oregano, salt, vinegar, garlic, black pepper, and olive oil.
Could be gallbladder, maybe diabetes. Cut out the meat and fats for a few days and

Some folks just take for granted that they can walk into a market and shop for meat...We've done the same for similar reasons as you and nothing was wasted. At least you're self sufficient!!! And, I bet you've put up/canned/frozen all the vegetables from the summer/fall harvest.
Didn't mean to be flippant in my earlier post...whack it, hack it, pack it and stack it... Cat
Where dogs came from (sm)
A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to 'Where do pets come from?'
Adam and Eve said, 'Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us.'
And God said, I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves.'
And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve. And it was a good animal. And God was pleased.
And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail. And Adam said, 'Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal.'
And God said, ' I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG.'
And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them.
And they were comforted.
And God was pleased.
And Dog was content and wagged his tail.
After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, 'Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well.'
And God said, I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration.'
And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.
And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.
And Adam and Eve learned humility.
And they were greatly improved.
And God was pleased
And Dog was happy.
And Cat didn't give a hoot one way or the other.

I love that - this year, my niece's huge yellow Lab grabbed a pie off the dessert table. Needless to say, nephew put the dog outside. We all thought it was funny - niece did not!

What breed are your dogs? The darker one looks like she has Boxer markings, but I have never seen one like the blond. Reminds me of a G.S. Beautiful dogs, no matter what they are!!
Oh and he's not alone. He has 2 other dogs with him.

Outside dogs (sm)
Outside we have a Boykin Spaniel (you can get these sometimes from rescue centers, Google if interested) and we have a mixed breed - Basenji and probably lab. Both have plenty of fur but not too much and love to be outdoors.
hot dogs....
kosher and nonkosher to cover all your bases.
I only like ketchup but you know there are those that want everything, so ketchup, mustard, mayo(yuck), relish, onions, chili?
hot dogs and brats...cover all your bases.....same on toppings...EVERYTHING!
If you have the space, fries are great when it's cooler weather.
Can/bottled drinks probably the best best. Less space, more drink for the buck anyway.

Uggg. I feel for you. At least the dog isn't being abused but I understand your frustration.
BTW you get the little icon thingies when you click "post reply to this message". They should be right underneath the message box and just click on the ones you want. Don't click "quick reply" because then they don't pop up.

as a child, we had a rat terrior, irish setter and german shepherd - and daddy always had beagles.
as an adult, we have had a german shepherd, beagle, toy fox terrior, cocker spaniel, collie, border collie and right now we have a corgi and a chocolate lab.
Dogs
Since I was a little kid, Dad has always had dogs. I remember we had a black lab, a brittney spaniel, a toy poodle (wretched dog), a German short-hair, and 2 mutts. He and Mom now have another black lab. My sheltie, Casey, just died this summer. Now I have 4 cats. The last one (a calico kitten) got dropped off (we live on a farm and it happens all the time!) the week after my dog died and just suckered me in.
I have two dogs
They love me and are all over me every chance they get. Most dogs love me. The dog next door will look at my kitchen window and if she sees me, she will wag her tail and bark until I come out and pet her.
I am horribly afraid of German Shepherds. I got bit near my eye by one. My BIL has 2 of these dogs and they can tell I don't like them. But they just avoid me.
Now my friend who lives about a mile from me has a small dog and that dog hates me with a passion. It gets so upset and snarly when it even hears my van. I refuse to go in her house until that thing is caged. Am I bad person? I don't think so. Funny thing, I drive past her house to pick my girls up from school. They have a couch in front of a big window and every day when it is time for me to go by, that dog gets up on the couch and when I drive by it freaks.
I have 3 dogs
My newest addition is a dauchshound puppy. I got her back in March (or maybe April - can't remember). Anyway, she is now 9 months old and all puppy. She is relentless with my other 2 dogs, especially my little Maltese who is 7 years old. Just runs around her, nipping at her tail, and racing away. I know she's playing but it's NOT a game to my little white furball. And she doesn't quit! So, when you have had this situation, how do you stop it? How do I get this puppy to understand that she needs to stop this behavior? Other then this annoying habit of hers, she's a wonderful, funny, loving little girl!
Dogs!!
do you have a picture of yours? My dogs are the sweetest things, but they are DEFINITELY barkers if they hear anything outside and I agree with you, people can break in, but if they hear those dogs barkin, they are PROBABLY gonna turn right around and go somewhere else!!!
dogs
Boston terriors are great with kids and a great family dog.
Are the dogs okay if they don't see each other?
Years ago when I lived in Detroit and we had chain link fences, there was a nylon type of material that you could get to weave in and out of the chain links in the fence. Sort of like the stuff that the old style folding outdoor chairs were made of. It gave you privacy in terms of not being able to see on the other side, but you could still hear everything. Would the dogs still go nuts if they could hear and smell each other, but not see each other?
The nylon in the fence is old school and not necessarily pretty, but it might work.
I have 2 dogs........... sm
and my Chow, Butch, will not let "Old Yeller" eat. He chases him off. Butch is an older dog and rather grumpy to Old Yeller, so my son has started bringing Old Yeller inside the utility room so he can get a decent meal. I don't keep food out at all times because my dogs are outside dogs, but if you have a self-feeder or keep food out all the time, sounds like the distance between the bowls is a good idea.
