Do I have a right to be aggrevated? sm

I've been going to the same dentist faithfully for the past seven years or so.  I went in January for my cleaning.  While there, they found one of my fillings to be "defective" I guess and said they could fix it while I was there so I wouldn't have to come back.  Ok, fine.  So last week I get a bill from them for $254.  Good grief!  That's high.  So I called my insurance and come to find out they charged me twice for that one tooth.  I called the dentist office and asked them about it, "oh, yes we charged you twice, sorry about that".  Ok, fine, now my bill is down to $109. which I still think is high.  I call insurance one more time, and they say that dentist put in a white filling and the insurance company doesn't cover white fillings.  So, had the dentist office used the silver filling, I would've only had to be pay $34 compared to $109.  The dentist didn't inform me or even ask me if I wanted a white or silver filling.  So I call the dentist office this morning letting them know I wasn't really happy about this (I wasn't rude to them) and explained the situation.  She says "well she's not going to write this off, she's going to expect the full $109".  I could understand if I requested the white filling, but not even being informed that she was putting a white filling in my tooth, I don't think is right.  So my question is do I have a right to be aggravated?  I'm sending them the $34 I would've had to pay if it had been a silver filling and I'm not going back to them.  I told her that I've been a long time patient and probably won't be coming back. She says ok, I'll let her know.  I'm tired of being taken advantage of by these doctors.  There was one time I was there getting a cleaning and overheard the dentist and a technician talking and the technician said "she's not going to pay this, it's too high", (talking about another patient) and the dentist said, "we'll just have to eat that one".

Ok, I'm really sorry for being so lengthy.  I'm just fuming about this.  Thanks for listening.  If anyone thinks I'm wrong, I appreciate your input.
