Boy, if stress is the trigger, I'm surprised I'm not one big blister. Stress is my middle name
and MT-ing is my game..
you are so right, not just cops.
I noticed an ag teacher here has a truck provided for her and probably gas, too. She rips up and down the highway several times a day while I am sitting here making a list so I only go one time a week and try to hit my errands in a time and gas saving mode. aggravating. Of course, I haven't seen anybody taking the keys away from the teens yet, either, and we all know how they can run the roads. My youngest had my truck for awhile and the oldest said, "Mom, don't know what to tell you about your truck, it's just a blue blur up and down the highway"!
Always, always call the cops sm
My husband was nearly killed by a tractor trailer driver who changed his story a dozen times, the medics were called but unfortunately, the other driver went his merry way and was not cited until days later for following too close, reckless endangerment, speeding, mistake in log book, and a laundry list, first he said my husband going too slow. Reconstruction said no way, but while my husband was in hospital having his scalp sewn back on, this guy ran away. Had to hire a detective to find him, went on for years before we got our bills paid, he got off with heavy fines and warnings he would go to jail if it happened again. It had happened in another state previously but could not bring that up in court. My sorrow - I should have had him arrested right that moment but I was not there. He should have been tested for drugs, etc. He went from saying husband's fault to that he dropped his coffee and was picking it up off the floor and then changed it again to something else. He still drives and my husband is totally disabled. Please get the cops involved the minute something happens - don't wait. I had no choice, I had to travel to another state to the hospital. I wish my husband were conscious enough to have him arrested right there. You did the right thing calling the cops, everyone should do that. Believe me, she could have killed you or someone else later. I hope you scared the pants off her.
that's why I mentioned what cops said
about 99 out of 100 people answering the door in the middle of the night. I was absolutely horrified myself that I had opened the door and the cops said it happens all the time. Hopefully people reading all these posts will wise up.
Most of the time I'm with the cops when it comes to -
tazing those big, belligerent crack or meth heads that are going berserk or have already tried to assault the cop. But STILL: I took exception to this one. The lady is like half the guy's size, and attitude or not, he could've managed her easily just by hanging onto her shirt collar. Also, throwing a 72-year-old down could've resulted in a hip fracture (and lawsuit), or even cardiac arrest and/or death. How would he know she didn't have a pacemaker?
I think the dude was a little too eager to play with his taser-toy.
Call the cops - it can't make it any worse!

Are you harsh posters cops or parents?
A little late to post, but here's my idea as a mom of 5. Get her out of the house, some place public, Starbucks or the bookstore - a place where she won't storm off and you'll both be civil to each other at least for a few minutes. Tell her you love her, be understanding and really talk to her. Ask her what is going on in her life, is she stressed about something in particular? Don't alienate her. There is a lot of life ahead for you both and this is not a permanent condition for her. If ALL you do is punish you risk sending her off in a bad direction. At the end of the conversation it may seem you got nowhere, but she'll think about things and hopefully be a bit less impulsive. Please post back and let us know how things go.
She says if she calls the cops every time he shows up ...sm
he will just be gone by the time they get there. She did pick up the phone several months ago when he put the gun to his head. She said I am calling 911 to come take you to get help. He immediately stopped and sat down and said no please don't call the cops. I am not going to kill myself. I won't do that anymore. Now if he was serious, he would have not cared. He would have said hey I will be dead before they get here. He knew he wasn't going to do it and he didn't want to get hauled off for psychiatric evaluation. THen he started threatening this again on the phone one time and she said ok I am going to have you committed then cause you need help. He said oh no I am not going to kill myself. And for a long time he did not bring it up again. It is for attention.
Visit the station rather than call the cops...
Don't call the police. Rather, go to the police station and ask to speak to a detective. (You can call and make an appointment if you don't feel like spending an hour or so in the waiting room.)
You absolutely must get the law involved. You heard this kid threaten to kill his mother. Obviously, his mother is intimidated by him as well.
You can "file" reports without them showing up on the public blotter. By filing reports and keeping the detective involved, you just may be saving your neighbor's life. The cops will surveil the neighborhood on a regular basis and even keep an eye on him. (He's probably getting into no good elsewhere too.)
Also, you and your family could possibly be in mortal danger from this whacko kid as well.
From what he's said and done so far, you can expect this to escalate far beyond your wildest dreams/nightmares. He's not going to give up until you and your family are gone...one way or the other.
Think about it for a bit, but be sure to act quickly.
When I was younger, there was a similar episode with a neighborhood bully where the parents had no control. A bunch of the bully's neighbors ended up taking his parents to court on what I think was a 'show cause' complaint. The nonsense stopped after the court appearances.
However, times are more violent now, and within the past decade or so, these bully types have been blowing away people in alarming numbers. So, don't put your family at risk.
Good luck.
Call the cops every single time. Don't give into bullying.
You can bet he'll get tired of being visited by the cops every few days... And cops are required to follow up on complaints, so they'll go out there, and cops are adults with neighbors too, so they know what it's like. What is wrong with some of these parents now days?!
How much money rasied for Katrina, how much money for the diasters due to the tidal waves and what?
Every single one of them have had some smoke around it with the money not getting to where it was supposed to go. I did not contribute, I hardly watched, was not caught up again as I have seen things like this before. They should give a all you can give benefit for Darfur where people are being massacared each and every day. Genocide going on there each and every day. I have not seen any benefits to help them out yet.
My little dog and the Xmas tree...s/m
Hayseed you brought back the sweetest memory. Had a little lhasa apso named Blondie. One year the tree went up, got decorated, etc. Hours went by with no sign of Blondie. More time passed, no Blondie.. Started calling her name, looking from room to room, then looking outside for her. Nowhere in sight. About 1/2 hour later I just happened to go under the tree and there she was, laying on the green tree shirt and looking up at the lights. She spent about another hour like that and finally came out. It was the sweetest thing I ever saw........
Thank you so much. I am definitely doing this for the girls this Xmas now. nm

tears on Xmas Eve!!
I just feel so bad for you in this situation. I love my two dogs so much that I don't know what I will do without them one day... But I agree with you in the sense that I don't want them suffering or in pain. If something happens to them and they go blind or something like that, that is one thing... but when a pet cannot function anymore and you are only keeping them around cause you don't want to deal with the loss that is entirely different. I feel for both you, your mom, and the dog and I'm sorry you are going through this. I do not think there are right or wrong answers, but just remind her All Dogs go to heaven!!!

Anyone started their Xmas shopping yet?
I was at the mall last night and noticed how every store already has their Christmas decorations up. I hate the Christmas season and love it at the same time. I love the beauty of it and hate the commercialism and stressing about what to buy as gifts. Besides, my kids have everything they could possibly need anyway !
Need some Xmas goodies recipes..
Looking for recipes to make some fairly easy yet yummy Christmas goodies for gift giving. No heavy baking or long recipes please. Stuff along the lines of snack mixes, that powdered sugar "puppy chow" (I think that's what it's called lol), etc. Stuff that can be made in large batches ahead of time and not needing refrigeration. There are so many great cooks out here..so this is the first place I thought of to get some great ideas. Thanks ahead to all who respond!! :)
jan 2nd? what happened to 12 days of Xmas?....
funny observation in this country....the earlier peeps put up their Christmas stuff, the quicker after Christmas many of them take it all down (not me though). There are 12 days of Christmas which equates to like the 5th or 6th of January, the EPIPHANY!.....so I don't get it when they take it all down the day after New Years..........
Everyone I know who puts it all up before Thanksgiving, takes it down either the day after Christmas or the day after New Years....
I keep my stuff up until nearly the 2nd week of January (my birthday *lol*)....
Happy Holidays To All!
Getting mom, a 3rd shift LPN, on xmas mornin...
My dad would go out and start up the car to get it all heated, and we'd head out early to get coffee and doughnuts and pick mom up at work on Christmas morning. She always worked Christmas Eve so she could be off on Christmas Day to be with all of us.
There was always lots of snow during Christmastime then and the long drive to the ol' "Hunt Hospital" was always just so beautiful....no traffic, just beautiful back roads with pine boughs heavy with snow hanging over the power lines....
If I buy book for SIN for XMAS, but read it

putting up Xmas lights
Sorry if this may seem really dumb but I've never done this before - how do you attach the lights to siding on a house around windows and doors? It's not wood siding, it's an older home with aluminum siding.
need a suggestion for Xmas gift.
Since we are so unbelievably broke this year, my 2 children (32 and 17, yes I know 32 years old and still living at home but she is going to school on a full scholarship to be a chemical engineer) are going to get ONE book for Xmas. I know which book to get my daughter but which for the 17-yo boy? And what's a good one for me? Thanks for any suggestions.
Who wants to share where you can get hot deals on Xmas gifts?
We like Fat Wallet (fatwallet.com). Anyone else have any sites they use and recommend for bargain basement deals and/or tips? Thanks!

MTstars, I think it's really nice of you to do Xmas in July.
Stress when is enough enough?
Wanted to gab to get some feedback. Right now, it seems like everywhere this MT turns there's stress. DH going through final hearing for child support his ex won't pay for years, she threatening to take the kids away so he has to pay child support, etc. I just switched jobs within the last year, and although I am doing well the one I chose, it has been really stressful trying different MTSOs out to find the right one, or the fairest one. Top it off, my 2nd computer in 6 months just died today and my lovebird cage just fell down from the ceiling wrecking the living room, the cage, and scaring me and the birds half to death. Last week, when my son went for visitation, he wanted to stay home and not go with his dad, he screamed so loud the police chased his dad down in the car, and they came here to make sure he was not a kidnapper. I am not kidding! Look, I am not looking for pity. It just seems that as I sit here and write this to you (who I don't even know), that since I work at home transcribing 6 days a week, am fully involved with my son at home and step kids all the time (no life outside the house to speak of anymore) I am absolutely at a ridiculous point of stress. Any happy coping suggestions in response to this sad situation other than, go to the "mental health board," or "get a life..." etc. Thanks in advance for your kind comments. Just a sister MT trying to cope with job and home and trying to find advice from anyone who has "been there." Thanks.
STRESS
I am so sorry to hear about your friend (coworker). I cry with you. I hope and pray that you can find someone at your facility that will see what is happening and help you make changes!!!
Why can't anyone realize that the stress we face is great?
God Bless You and your other coworkers!!
Nope, haven't. Maybe I'll get it for the hubs for Xmas as it's

Anyone with kids that have Fuzz Luvz on their Xmas wish list?
My daughter wants one and I am having a heck of a time finding one. Amazon has them but I think they want $50 for one. Anyone with any knowledge on this? TIA!
But her money is her money to spend as she pleases -
I don't understand how you can think it is wrong for her to spend whatever she wants to on whatever she buys. It is their personal money they spend. It is not like they are saying give me those shoes and add it to the taxpayer's bill.
And in all actuality, they are saying spend, spend, spend to get the economy going.
I am sorry, I am jealous that some people still have plenty of money to spend and I don't, but I don't expect those people to quit spending just because I had to.
christmas stress . . .
Due to the high stress nature of my husband's and my parents, we no longer tell them about the children's school events ( I know, sounds horrible, doesn't it?). My husband's father, whom we see three times a year, and has absolutely NO relationship with our children, called the school and found out when their concert was. He and his wife showed up last night, sat in front of us, he said two words to my husband (his son) all night long. When we got home last night and wanted to decorate the tree, my husband blew a gasket. He cannot handle it. It bothered him SO much that his dad showed up that he screamed and yelled at us until my daughter and I were in tears and my sons wanted him to leave. My daughter, lying in bed crying while I tucked her in said "we do this every year, mom". In order to get a grip on the kind of relationship my husband and his father have I would have to go on and on. basically, he adopted my husband when he married my husband's mother years ago. They split up the year we got married. My husband tried very, very unsuccessfully to maintain a relationship with him over the years and finally came to a point where he gave up. We have awkward moments and conversation when we are together. We have nothing in common, they don't really care about the kids, because they are not there to actually spend time with them and get to know them. We prayed for my husband last night, and my daughter asked me if something happened in his childhood. How do I get my husband to deal with this so we don't have to go through this every year?????
My solution to your stress
just BEAT HIM. LOL. J/K of course.
I would be upset too. Look for another company to go through. Unreal.
you are in posttraumatic stress right now--sm
go to the ER. Have someone drive you, if you feel you may leave the car running again. They will be sympathetic and guide you as to what is appropriate care for you. I feel your pain! My children's father took his own life on Father's Day two years ago and a cousin of mine took his own life less than a month later. I know the feeling, believe me. You will get better though, trust me. good luck to you and keep us all informed. you need compassionate friends right now, too. {{hugs}}
stress causes it too, my child has it....
and is also on metformin which causes more problems....has been to the GI doc who is really not much help....in this case, stress causes it...child doesn't drink....26 y/o.....
hope you feel better.....google IBS - you'll learn how to cope/deal....

What do you do for stress relief?
I am having a tough time blowing off steam lately and looking for some stress relief ideas...some for in the moment and some for just routine daily/weekly life stress.
I am pregnant so moods are crazy and I am just having difficulty letting go of even the smallest of things. Looking for some pointers, ideas, suggestions.
My garden tub used to do the trick but now that I work until late at night and have a child home from school for the summer, it is difficult to find the time for that or mani/pedis which I also used to enjoy.
stress reduction
My ex-hub wrote some papers while he was doing his PhD in psychology on stress reduction. I typed his papers both before and after we were divorced. It made sense to me. One of the things he said that you work all week to make a paycheck to pay your bills. He said you have to consider yourself "a bill out of your paycheck that needs to be paid" just like any other bill that you owe. You need to pay a bill owed to yourself for hard work in the form of whatever you can afford out of each paycheck no matter what the amount that you may deem to afford meaning a new outfit, pedicure, meal out, movie, whatever makes you relaxed and feel happy. Set an amount aside even if it is just $20-$25. It gives you something to looks forward to. We have been divorced for 15 years, but I still remember this and still do this. It makes me feel good because I know I have to pay this bill to myself and it makes me feel good.
I wouldn't stress.
I had my baby natural childbirth. It really wasn't so bad. By the time it gets to where you can't stand it anymore, it's time to push. When you push through a contraction, you don't feel pain anymore just pressure. During labor I just kept thinking, this time tomorrow I will be holding my baby.
While I was pregnant, friends and family delighted in telling me their horror stories about childbirth. Don't listen to them. Everyone's experience is different. I figured if it was that bad everyone would only do it once, right?
I did take my sister's advice though. She's an RN on L&D and she said the nurses are there to help you, don't get mean and nasty with them or they will go away and only come back when they have to.
My friend had an epidural and suffered from severe headaches for months afterwards. I've heard of women having back problems, leg problems with them. I don't think I would ever advise anyone to get an epidural.

Yes, definitely a stress point in a marriage....sm
As for taking charge, I think we have to as they simply wont. I mean someone does need to be "in charge" so to speak...it is their place to be "head" of the house, but most dont take that place, they dont want that place, the responsibility that it brings.
I often think of the fact that if I died while my children are young they would have to live with my sister....seriously. He would not be able to take care of them, and not talking just financial, he literally would not be able to take care of them. It is sad to feel like that about it. Just how it is.
You're not weird. Maybe you can stress that you'd like it to be just old
s
They are big-time stress reliever!
I play what my brother calls 'girly' games - Final Fantasy, tetris, etc. I also have a couple murder mystery-type games, but I have to watch playing them when I'm home alone because I'll scare myself! I know it's pathetic but some of those games have things that jump out at you! I guess that's why I stick to the 'girly' games! LOL
Anybody have stress bother them and then get sick?
Ever since I have been stressed over a certain situation in transcription, and my family's budget I have become extremely tired and it is really hard to get my line count. Every day as the pressure builds regarding this my line count gets lower, no matter how hard I try. Anybody in this situation or ever been, I'd appreciate advice. I am trying stress busters, exercising, reading books, taking time to go outside, but nothing is working.
Every time I sit down to type, I just get more and more worried and I can't produce! It is like my heart is going on strike against the position I have because there are problems with the situation and it makes my money situation even worse. My husband is very understanding but this has got to stop. I want to feel good about my job again and my production. If you say get another job, I understand about that, but what about until the other job starts, what do I do? Arrrggggg. I know life is no picnic but it could at least provide piece of mind so I can do my job! Thanks in advance for any and every suggestion or advice. It will be well appreciated
If she's such a good kid, why stress her more by making her pay
for car/gas/insurance? I think that making good grades and having extracurricular school activities are enough. If she has to work also then something might slip, probably her grades. My girls, now 30 and 33, did theater, choir, drill team and we took care of the car. They did not turn out to be slackers. Maybe taking her siblings to school and running errands is enough of a payment.
Believe it or not, my favorite stress reliever is
SEX. Seriously.
Anyone on Lexapro for stress and anxiety?
Do you like it? Is it working for you?
100% against. Against alcohol, anyway. lol
nm
alcohol
Alcohol......
I personally don't drink with every meal but I do have wine now and then. A girlfriend of mine and her husband have a glass or two of wine just about every night with dinner and have for years, but I wouldn't say they have a problem.
I suppose you need to ask yourself if you didn't have it, would it stay on your mind until you had it.??
alcohol
I think 1-2 drinks a day is absolutely fine. It is relaxing, and I usually do the same. My mom has done it for years, has a glass of wine at lunch and 1 or 2 in the evening and she is well into her 80s and in perfect health! Enjoy yourself and ignore your roommate.
Stress - thanks all for yesterday - got the Bach and the multi-Bs (sm)
Still stressing but feeling much better today. Didn't get out until 8 pm last night to make my purchases and still had a rough night, but this morning I am much calmer. Thanks to everyone who had any comments or suggestrions - I really needed you guys yesterday and appreciate you being there!
