Cost of fence??

Hi. My husband and I are getting ready to buy our first house and would like to know the approximate cost of getting a 6 ft privacy fence. We have absolutely no idea how much something like this costs :) Our new backyard is 85 x 110. I know the cost can vary, but can you please just give us an estimate if we had someone build it and also if we just bought the supplies and did it ourselves? Thanks for any info!

cost of fence
My hubby is a carpenter as is son. They buy their supplies for fencing through Home Depot or Lowe's or any building supply. I would go on line and Google fences, how to build and that should bring up some sites for building a fence, as to what supplies wood versus vinyl. The cost depends on where you live, as some areas are more expensive than others. I know you can buy directions on web sites on line, as I just ordered a design for a pergola my son is going to build for my daughter. You have to measure where your fence will be, then go to a store or on line. There should be someone at Home Depot or Lowe's or lumbar supply place who can help you. Also, having a company install a fence is much more expensive than doing it yourself. I know this well as my husband and son have put up a few fences. Hope this helps.
Cost about $750 my cost, with insurance.

I would check out Home Depot or Lowes. You can look online and find the prices.

Long time but (excuse typing, motherboard problems) - having it installed will cost you big bucks. Measure how many 8 foot sections you will need to complete the job, buy a post hole digger, be sure it's okay with your neighbor(s). The "nice" side has to be on their side and you will also need a level to be sure it is even. It's a job for more than 1 person, of course. We could not pay to have it done. Perhaps you could have a "fence party" - depending where you live, you may need to coat the posts for bugs before you bury them, or use steel postss. Hard to tell - depends on area where you live, type of material, wood vs. vinyl, style, etc., cedar or other. Best of luck to you, good fences make good neighbors, etc., also gates are expensive, but you may need to figure one in depending on set-up - installation too expensive, get some friends to help!

how do you keep your cat in the fenced in yard?
Thank you!! And to top it off, they dug holes to get under the fence onto OUR sm
property. There were at least 8 of them. I get sick every time I think about the irresponsible dog owners. The police came out twice and animal control never did show up for the incident. I should sue the city, to be honest. All of our goats were killed. We have 3 small children. Next, and I hate to say it, it could be them. I don't want to sell this place either. We love it out here. I hate being a prisoner on our own property.
The fence did not cause the dog to die. The owner did by not making sure
the batteries were changed on a regular basis.   The fence and the dog are blameless.  The only one who had any control over the situation dropped the ball....poor dog.
Pricing out privacy fence...

When I landed at our place in 2002, I quickly learned I HAD to put up a privacy fence for the safety of my animals as well as the safety of the little kids who visit their grandparents next door, because I found them once too often in the pasture trying to pet the animals, and a hoof to their forheads would have been a very bad thing.

I went to Home Depot and quickly got discouraged at not only the cost of doing it yourself, but the labor and tools required.  I live in New England and the ground is 90% ROCK...try digging a post hole through THAT and have fence posts spaced out appropriately...ain't gonna happen.

So, I called a fence place that was in the phone book.  They came over FOR FREE, measured out what I wanted, sat down with me and a book and showed me what was available, gave me costs, and said "call us when your're ready."

You bet your bippie I went with the fencing company.  They had 274 feet of 6' cedar privacy fence completely installed in ONE DAY for under $4000 (back in 2003).  They had the guys, the knowhow, and the proper equipment.  I had to go with metal pipes instead of wood poles because our ground is so wet and rocky, and I thought it would be ugly, but it has worked out absolutely wonderfully.  I haven't painted or stained it either, just let it turn that pretty gray that cedar does.

You can see some pictures of it on my website here:

Best investment ever...not only for the safety factor, but also for the privacy, as you can see from the photos, even though we have lots-o-land, the neighbors were just too darned close.  Grab your phone book, look up fence installation companies, and at least get those free estimates.

Put up an electric fence and fry her dogs. Then say OMG, I'm so sorry.

This house has no fence around it at all, to be exact. nm
,
My child has been on both sides of that fence (sm)

He has been bullied before but he has gotten really good at standing up for himself.  I literally have given him comebacks that he can use if he is being verbally bullied, and have told him that while he is never allowed to start a fight he is always allowed to defend himself and even though he may get in trouble at school, he will not be in trouble at home.

One time last year (fifth grade) he was verbally bullying a boy in his class.  He said some pretty mean things.  I got the phone number to the boy's house through a mutual friend, called, and then too my son to the boy's house to apologize in person, in front of the boy's parents.  We talked for a long time beforehand about how the boy must feel to have to go to school and have someone say things like that to him, role-playing such as "how would you feel if that was you" sort of thing. He also lost computer priveleges for a week.  He has never bullied anyone else.

However, he did kick a boy in the shin earlier this year when the boy hit him and said he was going to beat him up.  My son is strong but doesn't like to fight.  I think all kids should be able defend themselves if needed though.

Secondary fence for dogs???

Can anyone please point me in the right direction as to how to go about installing a secondary fence/barrier in my yard, what material is best to use, etc.

My husband and I are trying to avoid spending money we don't have on getting a privacy fence just because our neighbors are idiots and don't feel the need to adhere to the rule of not letting the dogs out at the same time.  We have been in our home for 3yrs now and our dogs have never gotten along. Granted they were here first (as my husband says), but I could care less because our dogs have just aabout that They are rather large dogs, we have two and they have three.  Trying to break the fighting up when it happens is fraught with failure because when they get going its like trying to stop a moving train!

Unfortunately, neither side has the time nor energy to re-train the dogs, so I figure a secondary fence is in order due to the fact that there is already an existing 6ft chain link fence up.  The fence does not belong to us and the neighbors have not taken the initiative to tweak the fence with slats, so it is now left up to us to figure out.  I read that a secondary fence to that portion of the yard is the cheapest, non-permanant thing we could do to solve this problem.

Speaking from the other side of the fence....
I have a DH with an ex-wife. She went down every 6 months to get his child support raised. Whether she needed it or not.

All she did was call the caseworker at Friend of the Court (That's what we call it in Michigan). There is a copy of the divorce decree etc on file at the court house.

So I would think that if you called your version of Friend of the Court where you live, they would be able to help you get things rolling. And at no cost either. In fact, they have forms down at our courthouse.

Good luck.

You know it does not cost too much
to have your hearing checked. That probably would be a good idea for you.
And cost wise?
Read all the above and thanks so much. Now in the midst of trying to get my yard in shape after the grubs set in and do not want to spend an arm and a leg on flooring. Thanks again.
Cost wise?
Heard sodding expensive.
yeah, but she did not like the $400 cost with those..nm
nm
$20,000 is less than most cars cost

You should have no problem getting a home loan for that amount ANYWHERE. They will probably try to jack up the interest rate because of your bad credit score, but don't let them. Bargain with them and if they won't deal, tell them you'll go to the bank next door. Get them down to 6.5% or less if you can.

Good luck!

$9K??? love to know what they did that cost - sm
that much, holy cow! As for handing the bill to you, that is really odd, I have never heard of that. The bills always go to the insurance company, unless they do not have insurance then I can see it being handed to you as you could give a bogus address, etc, but you can still just not pay the bill. Still $1800 an hour for treatment, crazy. I think the births of my kids were less than that and I was in for 4 days with one and 1.5 with the other. No wonder insurance is so high!
hair cost sm
I was told years ago that the markup is ridiculous by someone who took a beautician course.. I found a good girl, shopped around, could not believe what WALMART (just stopped by to qestion in person) is charging for simple highlights and cut, even the local Regis Salons which also includes Supercuts, etc., are getting a hundred bucks or more. So what I did was establish an agreement with a girl who rents space nearby and she is excellent. She has been charging me $65 for color, cut and blow dry and style. So today I gave her a very generous Christmas tip and she tried to give it back to me. I told her I so appreciated what she does for me all year and she started to cry and gave me a hug. I told her I was aware of what others charged and I knew she gave me a break all year. Everyone won, nobody lost. Shop around, the markup is ridiculous. Corporate wins, not the stylist (much like our profession). Just find someone you can trust and develop a relationship with and give them a little extra once in awhile. I am very glad I did this,I had a great day and I feel wonderful and so does my stylist. It can be done, be an educated consumer. Don't fall for the high prices, what costs them a few bucks turns into literally hundreds when it comes to highlight or color and cut! Shop around.
cost of hair
In defense of the cosmetology profession, I have to add that one never knows how much money and time the big stylists put into their business. My oldest son spends $10,000.00 a month in overhead, salaries, rent, seminars, etc. He stays current on everything, is a certified colorist, etc. They earn every penny they get - I had no idea until he filled me in. By the way, he lives too far away to make it worth my while to go get a haircut every 5 weeks, so I still go to local girl. $12.00 - she is way too cheap. Please don't bash them if you do not know the inside of the business. Anyway, Merry Christmas! Everyone tip your stylist - if it is a man, bake him something - he'll love you forever!!
The cost of Nutrisystem
is fairly reasonable in my eyes.  However, I am financially able to stay on it, where I know there are others who cannot.  It costs approximately $270.00 a month, and then you still have to buy your veggies, dairy products, and fruits.  It is based on the glycemic index, where you eat good carbs.  Most of the time I do not have a problem with being really hungry; however, there are times when I am.  I am going to be 50 years old and have undergone a partial hysterectomy but I wonder if I still do not have some PMS symptoms and this is when I am the most hungry.  I read up on Curvelle and it sounds pretty safe and it appears to work.  I read some of the testimonies, etc.  I might try it and see how it works.
The cost of groceries - WOW!!
I nearly had a stroke at the register today.  Eggs here in AL are, get this, $3.49 where I am, but you can get 50 cents off by being a store member, which I am.  That is still 2.99 a dozen - good grief!  Sweet potatoes were $2.51 a pound, outrageous!  Normally I do not look a whole lot at prices and just buy what I like, but these prices are even making me look!  Gas just went up to $3.35 a gallon here.  They are saying $4.00 by summer.
During her interview, it was said it cost...sm
100k total for all the in vitro procedures.  I have not heard an answer as to how she paid for all this.  Does any one know?
I wish my house had cost that, or
I consider that I got a deal on my house, but it was not that kind of a deal, and I did not buy it at an auction. Although the value of my home has decreased due to the current housing market in my region, it is still valued at more than I paid for it. It was a good investment for me.

I simply worked (a lot) and sacrificed in other areas so I could pay off my house. That was my goal, and I am glad I was able to achieve it.

I do not flip houses. I have friends who do, and I have worked for them and/or with them on some projects. Working with experienced renovators is a great way to learn how to do home repairs and a painless way to figure out what you will be able to do yourself and what to let the experts handle. Of course, it does not hurt to know the experts in question if you ever get in a bind.

the cost to see thru the eyes of love....
God bless him is all i can say.
Cost is approximately $300.00 for series.

How much does it cost you for TV, Internet and Phone
I'm around $190.00 ;-(

No cell phones please...

Oh and who do we have.

Phone: Verizon
Internet: CableVision
TV: CableVision
You're more concerned about how much it cost

$75 would be a bargain here - mine cost $250! - sm
But it was done in the pet hospital, which sits on some pricey real-estate right in the middle of town. STILL... considering the total bill came to over $5,000 --- you would think they could at least cough up the euthanasia for free.

Anyway, that was a year ago and I'm STILL paying it off.
Were you unaware of cost before she applied?

Except that with what things will cost, on an MT's wages, - sm
we won't be able to afford to buy ANYTHING at the market, even if we could get there.

Meanwhile, the US is working on sending men to Mars while our whole infrastructure is crumbling. Sure hope the economy is better up there.
So correct....*Free* always comes with a cost....

If everyone who wants this fabulous free healthcare would just do a little research they would find out it is not such a great thing. We have several friends in Canada who hate the healthcare system. Canada faces a shortage of docs because they come to the US for better training and the potential for more money and practice here instead. People, do your research, don't believe everything you hear from someone who just wants your vote.

dogs still cost money...
First im sorry about your dog! I adopted both my pups... like someone mentioned below, found them on petfinder.com actually! Now I have been away from them for a few months (they are staying home with family while i moved for a few months) and i am SOOOO lonely. i seriously have crying spells i miss them so much (that sounds so dumb to some people, but they truly are like my kids)...

My headline is just simply put because you said you didnt have a lot of money to get another dog... as you know dogs still cost money, not just the fee to adopt them or buy them (please adopt!).... you obviously know this as you've had one, just wanted to make sure!

Good luck in your search it sounds like you will be a great mommy!

Cost of tooth extraction
How much does a tooth extraction cost?  I have no dental insurance so will be paying out of pocket.  I am pregnant and since being pregnant this toothache has gotten worse and worse.  I am to the point now that I can't take the pain anymore.  Also does anyone know if you call a dentist and tell them you are in pain if they will work you in asap?  Thanks.....I just never knew that a toothache would be so painful.
wire transfers cost $$

I'd hold off on the wire transfer - they typically charge $25 per transfer for that.

Depending on your bank, they may have an option to add an account that is from an outside institution so you can transfer back and forth.  I had an account with Bank of American before they finally horked me off for good, and I was able to add my account with the credit union.  It was a $3.00 fee to transfer in between banks, and it took about 3 days, but it's cheaper than a wire transfer (unless your bank offers an option to do those for free.)  I was able to set everything up using the online banking system.  It took a couple of days for the set up because they have to verify the new account, but it was worth it.  Before I dumped them, anyway.

I agree that a gift should come from the heart and cost
shouldn't matter. However, to me, a gift is not what YOU want to buy, it should be what the other person would want to receive (within your budget, of course). Somebody else might not like what I want to buy.
I think that is doable, but like the others i doubt you will find someone willing with the cost of g
The gas alone will cost her probably that much and when you deduct that from the $15 a trip it would hardly be worth her time unless she was desperate. Maybe any teenagers around that wouldn't mind doing that before/after school? I used to clean and I would not waste my time for $15 a day minus gas prices.
Have to agree. Most people know cost of that school and it is

it will work at what cost? Your child learns to

Personally, I would let it ride. Cost a man his job and reputation for a lifetime over this?
And unless you like to see your husband upset, I'd not say anything to him if I were you.

I learned at about the age of 20 how to give a look that made people shudder when they offended me. That is enough for me in situations like this which I consider a 2 on a scale of 1-10 in the sexual harrassment department.

Do you realize the resulting damage you will do if you take a 2 second event into discussion with white shirts?
Not talking insurance, just basic care and the cost for that.

one week out of the year? I'm not young. What if I only have 10 years left? Or less?
Filled up the Bounder for our first trip last week. It cost $897.52.
We will probably camping longer and routing very cautiously this year. No more spur-of-moment long-distance trips.
It's awful! I used to live in NY. Avoid it at all cost on Black Friday!

Does anyone know where to get clothes for American girl dolls that doesnt cost a lot? nm

Credit Card Reform Can Cost Good Card Users

Part of article:

Credit cards have long been a very good deal for people who pay their bills on time and in full. Even as card companies imposed punitive fees and penalties on those late with their payments, the best customers racked up cash-back rewards, frequent-flier miles and other perks in recent years.

Now Congress is moving to limit the penalties on riskier borrowers, who have become a prime source of billions of dollars in fee revenue for the industry. And to make up for lost income, the card companies are going after those people with sterling credit.

We pay off our balance every month. If they do this (punish those who have sterling credit) Ridiculous!! I'll stop using my CC and pay by cash or check.

So much for reform.
