What do you take to control the hot flashes? The flashes are getting worse and coming on more often. With the hot weather now I'm going into heat overdrive. Any suggestions? No, I haven't talked to my PMD about hormone replacement therapy but am just about ready to.

If he is that controlling ...
then I would go back to your original question and answer yes - that IS definitely grounds for divorce. It doesn't sound to me as though the moving/not moving is the bigger issue. If you have tried counseling and working on these issues then yes, move on to the next step. Is this controlling behavior just related to the house issues? Do not let yourself be mentally/emotionally abused by a controlling husband. It is so hard to get a complete picture from quick posts on a chat board, but I have watched someone I love spend 30 years of her life falling down that hole and wish someone would have told her to stand up to the controlling behavior before it grew into more. If that is your situation, I hope you are able to make a move for yourself and your kids and get out from under that pressure/strain before it gets worse.
Controlling husband
He's definitely got some issues. My husband *thought* he'd be able to pull that act with me when we were first married; he found out in a hurry that I can out shout/out crazy him any day of the week. Now he mostly just grumbles quietly to himself.
How do I sound controlling?
Because I don't approve of her boyfriend? Yes, I hate the fact that he smokes...she's likely to start smoking. I have talked til I am blue in the face about safe sex...my point is she's too young for this very adult thing in her life. If (God forbid) she got pregnant, who'd be the one to raise the baby??? Me and her father...that's who, cause we won't let her throw her life and plans for college away to raise an unplanned child. And yes, I have a right to be a bit controlling...she's my child, living in my house..and she's only 17!!!
Her BF is controlling? Yours calls and you hop in

Sounds very controlling to me...
My hubby knows I chat with my buds - male and female. He trusts me and has no problem with it. There has been 1 or 2 he thought were trying to get a little more than friendly, but he just brought it to my attention to keep me from being shocked so I was ready to deal with it if there were ever any proposition (which there was once). If he ever tried to isolate me from friends/family, I'd show him the door. It's generally the first step toward abuse. Been there, done that, not gonna happen again.
Can you still have hot flashes after a TVH/BSO? nm

hot flashes...sm
I can feel my hot flashes coming...it usually starts in my face, then my head gets very hot, my head starts perspiring and then the flash works it's way down the rest of my body. I have not found relief in anything except taking a very cold bottle of water and holding it on my neck for awhile. I have had my flashes for approximately seven years. I wish you the best and a speedy journey through these hot flashes!
hot flashes
I am going through menopause too (just turned 50) and the hot flashes were driving me nuts - about every half hour or so and wasn't sleeping. I did some research on the 'Net because I can't take HRT and found a lot of good things being said about Estroven. About 2 months ago I started taking Estroven Maximum Strength and now I only get about 1 hot flash a day!! Yippee! They also came out with Estroven PM which I tried and I slept like a baby. It's all natural. Plus you can get a $3 coupon online if you Google the website. Hope you feel better soon.
I'm 45 and get COLD flashes!
While I'm glad I'm not suffering from hot flashes, I'm amazed at this cold business. It was 85 the other day, and I actually had a sweater on! My doc is sending me for thyroid studies, but she said that she's seen this happen occasionally, too. My mom and maternal grandmother also never suffered from hot flashes, but often complained of cold flashes. Go figure.
floaters and flashes
I have both in my left eye from having severe uvitis iritis years ago. My ophthalmologist told me I will probably have retnal detachment in the future and said it looks like someone closing a curtain over your eye. Scared me!
I take clonidine at night for hot flashes - (sm)
I was prescribed clonidine by my doc last year for hot flashes. I take one-half of a 0.1 mg at night only, and it has controlled the night-time hot flashes.
One can only use clonidine for hot flashes if blood pressure allows. My blood pressure is usually low in the a.m. (100/60).
I am not on HRT at this time.
To control hot flashes during the day, I try to remain as "calm" as possible no matter what situation I face, to drink cool water, and to wear the least clothing as possible.
I suffer from severe hot flashes that have been going on now for s/m
several years. I know hormone replacement therapy is very dangerous. I am about crazy with them as they have come back stronger than ever, every several minutes. This is life altering and I am not sleeping because of constant waking up all night long. I tried black cohosh some years ago at the suggestion of my gynecologist which in the beginning worked like a charm. Then I noticed it actually made them worse and more frequent, timing them to every 15 minues. Can someone please help with some suggestions that would actually help get back to somewhat of a normal life and sleeping pattern. Thanks in advance!
How long are my hot flashes going to last? Driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!
