Compound?

I thought the scientologists all live in their own homes; not some compound?? This is very disturbing. I am amazed at how gullible people can be. We know that some people are more easily brainwashed than others. Maybe Katie is one of the more enlightened ones. How many of our friends and family hang on to every word of their doctor, having lost the ability to think for themselves? In my mind, that's a form of brainwashing as well.

Texas polygamist compound
what's with the ladies and the hairdos - you know those pompadours. Anybody know? I know there are more important things in this case, but it just strikes me.
About polygamist compound - the polygamy doesn't
I couldn't care less if consenting adults choose to live in polygamous marriages. I see these mothers in the interviews crying for their children....if it was just that they are polygamists, I would really feel sorry for them. But the issue for me is that they are sending their teenage daughters off ot marry these older men - with the first issue being that they are teenagers and the second issue being that it is not even their choice. Personally I would never want to be in a polygamist situation, but if adults choose that, I don't care...as long as they don't all get insured and bring up my rates!! lol...but I don't think all polygamist groups marry off their teenagers like that either...and that is my problem with it. What do you all think? Do you care if people live polygamist lives?
polygamy doesn't bother me but the compound does
I understand that people of like minds may want to live in a close community, but when it becomes isolative I think it's dangerous. I don't have a problem with free choice. Of course the under age marriages are deplorable. I feel sorry for the women being separated from their children and even more so for the children being taken away from their parents into a different world.
The women on Larry King bothered me though, they all talked in a very monotone way, they looked gaunt, kind of robotic. Maybe it's the immediate situation they are facing and being on TV. I guess I would have liked to see a bit of anger there, some emotion, too submissive, probably the way they are with their husbands. You get the feeling they are pretty bottled up.
I didn't know you compound wives knew how to use computers!!!

She was at the compound right after the play for detoxification, according to a nontabloid article.
I scanned the web and came across of articles including MSN that said she needed to go to detoxify from being a mother and working a play and all the stress that goes with it. So, right after the play, when Tom was at the GG, she was detoxifying with the scientologists. This includes some kind of ritual in which there are some kind of vitamins, saunas, etc. There are some gossip sites that say she is able to hold her hand over fire because of the scientologists, but that is based on some kind of ad campaign for fashion design she appears in right now. It could all be publicity to draw attention to this fashion ad campaign, to make us pay attention. I often think their whole marriage was a publicity stunt to help Tom in his ratings when War of the Worlds came out, and they like many people used Oprah to boost the affair. Anyway, cults are not to be fooled around with and like the poster above, I think the death of Travolta's boy had something to do with lack of parenting skills and responsibilities because of the cult beliefs. Dangerous slope when so called role models adopt lifestyles which can easily rub off on so many people. Ruse, publicity, or whatever reason, it is a shame because human lives are eventually involved. The Karma, well, that is what they have to face, if they do not act responsibility. I would not want that kind of Karma at all, personally.
