middle aged woman is to make a little joke at her expense. I have noticed this in my mother and mother-in-law. (Although I am sure that some are still good natured.) It's like when women hit 50, they lose the ability to laugh. God help me when I get that old. I hope I don't lose my sense of humor, too!
