saw Milk this weekend and everyone was bawling.
everyone in the theater was crying.
Just got home from the theatre
I gotta say, I was a little disappointed.  Most of it was sorta what you would expect.  It did start to feel like a low-budget film.  At 1 point during the scene where Big's trying to write his vows, you can actually see the overhead microphones.  At first I thought it was supposed to be in there, but then realized it wasn't.  I can't believe they didn't catch that on the previews, but I guess someone in editing wasn't paying attention.
We enjoy going to live theatre or out to eat...sm
depending on what we find to do.
Food, Inc. coming to a theatre soon
There's an important movie coming out in June - it's not just the meat packed with antibiotics and hormones that are now unhealthy and down right dangerous, it's the whole food industry. Eat local. My grocery store is now packed with produce from Argentina and I live in the the central valley, CA. Surely we have enough produce to stock the grocery stores. Did you ever check the labels on canned fruit - most of it is from China, even though they have American labels on them. Check out youtube - the movie Food, Inc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqQVll-MP3I
Leave some open boxes of baking soda inside and maybe search for carbon filters to leave in there,
s
Not only is he treating you badly,
what kind of a man tells his wife and children to leave the home? My parents divorced when I was 11 and as I got older I realized it really was for the best. You need to show your children that it is not okay to disrespect anyone. You should go ahead and at least consult a lawyer and see what your options are.
I feel so badly for you - sm
It is not supposed to be that way!  Your hubby sounds pretty selfish.  If I told my husband I needed him to stand on his head and turn cartwheels for me to orgasm he would at least attempt it, especially after a year of marriage.  Is everything fantastic with him other than the sex issue??
But it may end badly for the dogs

They may not be taken care of when he's off doing other things.  I would tell him though that he needs to buy or pay for the dog food and put a time limit on how long you'll take care of them.  You're a good person to make sure they're taken care of.

I'd say she has been hurt badly and deeply
besides having a questionable upbringing.  It has been shown you can even be raised weird and still have great qualities - something happened to push those natural feelings towards other human beings way down inside her.  If it were me - I would just kind of detach myself from her as she will most likely not change and you will grow to become bitter and you cannot change her.  You are not going to get what you need as a friend from her.  Sorry also about your son.  Hugs!!
Help for badly damaged hair
Got a perm a couple months ago (bad mistake -especially once DH said - is that the way you wanted it?) Anyway...since then have gotten it trimmed a couple times to get rid of the dead. But it is like a rats nest, looks dry and very frizzy. I have tried...curling creams, leave in conditioners, mousse, putty, creams, and a wide range of hair products. The other night I tried mayo & egg. My hair still feels dried out. Actually just feeling it now, the part that has grown out is not dry, but the part where the perm is is dry.

Anyone have any suggestions. How I miss my beautiful locks of my youth (I'm 51). I used to have beautiful curls and the hairdressers always commented they never seen such beautiful natural curls before. Now it's just old, frizzy, no curls and no body, and a thinning spot toward the top of my forehead. Talk about feeling old. I did just color it because sometimes coloring brings back shine and makes it manageable, but didn't do anything but get rid of the gray. I'm ready to just go Sinead. Any suggestions much appreicated.
Not everyone reacts badly to chemo - sm
My daughter was not throwing up every half hour. In the 18 treatments/doses she received in her five month regimen she puked 3 times I think. She was nauseous, yes, but Zofran took care of that. She lost about five pounds in all but most/all of that was tumor. She did not lose her hair until the 4th month, but as I said then if that is the worst thing to happen we will live with it. Hair does grow back. Her hair grew back red again, not as firey red, but still a beautiful color, thicker now too, and grows so much faster now too, already below her waist now in the 3.5 years it has been growing back. Her hair was very, very slow growing prior to her chemo (about mid-back maybe short when she got sick at 5, with absolutely no haircuts except for bangs). Physically now she is in fantastic shape. She never developed footdrop or any side effects other than nausea and exhaustion, she had little stamina for 6 months to a year after chemo ended. Now however she is great, looks great, is in great shape and is a very active 9-y/o. She has been thru a lot and is very mature for her age, more so than my soon to be 11-y/o. She has a lot on her mind and still worries sometimes she will get cancer again. I feel bad that she thinks that way but it is something she will have to live with for the rest of her life, but at least she will have a life. Without the chemo she would not have had one and she knows that, she is a smart cookie. She also knows I am her mom and I love her to pieces and will always make sure she is kept safe and hopefully healthy. If she never needs it I will give her one of my kidneys presuming I can. ---but chemo is proven to work more than it fails, nothing is 100%, but at 13 the boy is too young to understand the ramifications. He will die, period, no doubt in my mind, if he does not do chemo. Yes, he may still die with it but his chances are much less and if they go with a "natural" treatment his chances are definitely a lot less. Very short-sighted of both of them I think. Before anyone attacks me, I like you am entitled to my opinion but before you attack make sure you have walked in my shoes. A child sick with cancer is a very scary thing.

First off -- Angels have wings and could

have flown themselves there.  Secondly, if they could affrod a motel, they can afford a taxi.  Thirdly, why didn't they ask directions at the motel?  Why take the chance of not finding someone who could help them when the concierge desk would have the information readily available, would probably have called the taxi for them, and possibly may have had a shuttle service available to take them.

You definitely did the right thing.  I'd be more worried about seeing someone else on the news who did give them a ride and ended up dead, rather than feeling guilty.

Does he treat you badly in front of your children or is it
usually "behind closed doors?"
Angels passed by our home
only 2 months ago and my dad took his heavenly flight.

Only a God-called grandmother could love you as she did. The only way your grandmother could have ever share such love for you was first being loved by God. Paradise is her home!

My dad had COPD and was diagnosed with cancer in November of 2006 and sent home with hospice with 6 months to live. He passed away in less than 2 months.

He asked hospice to please not let him "smother to death." His last 2 weeks were exactly as you described. I had difficulty watching as he was administered morphine and Ativan because I knew the morphine would suppress his respiratory system even more. He was on oxygen but struggled with every breath. He began to conserve all his energy just to breathe. He was alert but spoke very little. He was given only water via sponge and all medications were stopped the week of his passing. My family and I were by his bedside the entire time, and every day he became more weaker. He asked that we pray that the Lord would come soon, and all this time I'm trying to convince my family that we needed to take a more aggressive approach (IV fluids and blood transfusion). Early morning on the day of his death he became unconscious. There was the most precious, sweet comfort and peace felt by everyone in the room at the exact moment my dad drew his last struggling breath and took his heavenly flight.

As 2 months have now passed, I realize the care he received was appropriate, and hospice was loving and caring. I just wasn't ready to "let my dad go."

May you feel God's presence in the sweet memory of your grandmother. Grandmothers are earthly angels from God.
Aw...poor little angels! And you tried so hard...nm
s
I don't believe they were angels. Sounds strange to me.
xx
Well I had a friend at work who wanted a baby badly
had hydrocephalus.  She prayed and prayed.  She finally decided through a lot of counseling that it would be better to abort this baby.  So in what stage of abortion are we talking made to look at the ultrasound.  Is this a whole different thing?  Should she have been made to have that baby even knowing the baby would not survive?  I think there are abortions for different reasons.  JMO.
Snow angels!...Sledding, skiboarding! Enjoy! nm

Hayseed how do you crop your pics? I'd like to add to the collection of animal angels here.
Or can I send you mine and you'll do it for me, pretty please?
Not weird..old Czech glass perfume bottles, some angels, old

Hark the Herald Angels Sing on Charlie Brown's Christmas sm
I have the whole CD from Charlie Brown's Christmas and enjoyed it so much last year! Will start listening to it again this year after Thanksgiving :-)
I am bawling like a baby right now! Sasha is just smiling, smiling, smiling. I don't think sm
I've ever seen a dog smile that much!

With love.
best city
Believe it or not, Cleveland, Ohio. I've lived all over the Midwest and East Coast and loved Chicago and Minneapolis, but the people in Cleveland were definitely the friendliest. Easy to make friends and cost of living was pretty decent. Also lots of fun night life and great museums.
Sex and the City is definitely up there at the top. nm
x
what city are you in? nm
nm
Know the city well, you can get 1 of the
weekly hotels and live from there. I would not like this situation at all- if he has worked there for awhile, just making until May should not make that much difference. Had home right in Atlanta and sold year before last, moved further towards Rex.
So he's never even been TO the city before? sm
Just from what you've posted, it sounds like he is sorely underprepared to take this job. No sales experience and never been to NYC, but taking a job doing cold-call sales in the toughest city? YIKES.
NYC is great city, full of life and energy, but man you have to be prepared.

LOTS of info can be found online, of course; just start Googling. Everything from maps of the subway system, to where to park, etc. Travel guides at the bookstore can help.
Seriously, what kind of a company gives the new guy the Manhattan territory? And then gives no informational support? The whole story gives me a bad feeling. Hopefully I'm just missing details.
sex and the City
I know some of us are working tonight, like me, but have any of you seen the movie sex and the City tonight and how was it?  I hope to see it this weekend between shifts.
Sex & the City, plus
1. Anything with Ben Stiller
2. Anything with Sarah Jessica Parker
3. Anything with Angelina Jolie
4. Anything with Madonna
5. Anything with Brad Pitt
New York City

Does anyone know if New York City is extremely crowded on Black Friday? I'm going on a bus trip that day to do some shopping. Just curious if it was as crowded that day as it was the week before Christmas.

I pay $85 in a big city, but she does spend 45 sm

minutes or so washing, cutting and styling may between chin and shoulder length hair.  Five minutes is ridiculous.  I don't see how they can even do a good job in that amount of time.

Yes, I know $85 is high (plus tip).  I have just had so many hack jobs at less money that I got scared and went to a trendier place in the city.

Is that the one where the girl goes to the inner city...
to live with her dad after her mom dies and she gets involved with the black student and she auditions for Julliard?
OMG - I love sex and the city
Just heard online today it is confirmed, they are making a movie. Can't wait
But is that not rural and not city
taxes? I had some property in the country, 200 something compared to my city home of over 2,000.
Not in city limits
We're about 2 miles out of town. Of course the town is 8500 people. A well known town, but small, nonetheless. :-)
City in illinois
Its Oswego. Lived around here forever
City in Illinois
I was going to put this on the state board for Illinois, but I noticed that no one's posted there in months.  The doctor is stating the patient worked at GE in s/l Owings, Illinois.  I googled cities in Illinois for the correct spelling and I can't find anything even close.  Any ideas?
I hate it too, even in my own city (sm)

I find that as I get older, it's not even a question of not seeing as well.  It's almost more like disorientation,if it's an area I'm kind of familiar with, but not really.  Like I will be not quite sure how much farther I have to go to the light and then when I get to the light, I'm not sure what cross street I'm at.  Sound funky.  Kind of hard to explain.

everything that is now gone, Sopranos, Sex and the City...
Love The Riches on FX. NetworkTV is too dumbed down, bad sitcoms (except 30 Rock and The Office, sometimes ok), bad dramas and overrated reality shows. And the soaps, fugetaboutit, UGH!
150 inhabitants? Is this really a city?...s/m
Are you the same person who posted this nasty reply to 'abc' on 11/16/08?

Now I can undertand that living in a VILLAGE (or BOX) with 150 people gives you a backward insight on a lot of issues.
Thanks so much! I just couldn't seem...
to find it.  I used to look at it quite often, but I hadn't in a while.  Thanks, again!
Couldn't help it....
I haven't figured out if he is a moron or if he really can't believe what is happening. I would like to hear some background information on him. I really think he could have his own show!! Too funny...
Tried but couldn't -- sm
I discussed this at length with a bankruptcy attorney. If I filed for banruptcy (have a lot of old debt from personal issues before we were married), now while married this could affect his credit which is perfect. Instead, what the attorney told me was to fly under the radar as most things don't stay on a credit report more than 7 years depending upon your state. He told me that once a debt is tranferred around from agency to agency it gets very difficult to validate the debt (and the collection agency's computer printout does not count). He told me never to talk to them by phone. First written response is always to ask for validation and if you get a computer printout, ask for specifics like dates, times original amounts etc. Then if they can actually prove it, they may offer a settlement. I have settled a lot of old debt for way less than the collection amount by negotiating and insisting they take it off my credit. If you want more info, feel free to e-mail. :)
Wow, couldn't have said it better myself...
You go girl!
Couldn't believe this...
My husband said he heard that any employee working for Lowe's would be fired if they said, "Merry Christmas" to a shopper, for fear of offending anyone within earshot.  Do you notice now everyone will only say, "Happy Holidays"?  You never hear the word "Christmas" anymore.  I'm not offended when I hear someone mention Kwanza or Hannakuh.  Why does the word "Christmas" send so many people reeling??
I just couldn't ask for more!
pp
nobody said you couldn't eat it
make you think twice. Nobody said anything about regulations or telling you to exercise. Speaking of coffee, maybe you should switch to decaf. Geez
Couldn't be better! = sm
Upstate NY here. My crocuses are in full bloom, daffodils poking up. And warm, soft winds carressing my shoulders when I go out without a coat or sweater!!!! Too bad we're supposed to start getting rain, but it's nice to know this is the trend now, not like January thaw!
I couldn't have said it better - well put
Well put.
Wow! I couldn't have said this better myself!
You're right on!
