Posters are correct, child support diff from visitation
Just because a parent is behind on child support does NOT mean you lost your visitation rights, even if you went to court and tried making restitution. What the courts might do is GARNISH your salary (if employed) with some going towards back child support. I am not sure if all states are the same, but I would think they are on this subject, but again, I'm not sure. Florida works this way though, this I can assure you.
child support
Mine owes over $76,000.
child support
I'm in southern Idaho and I was shocked one day to read in the paper that only 10% of people here who are supposed to pay child support are current on their payments. I knew it was a problem, but I didn't realize it was that bad. I generally think my ex is a selfish jerk, but I do give him credit that he has always paid his child support and it's no small amount ($1000 a month). Sometimes I think I'd rather have him out of our lives and give up the support payments, but then I realize that it's best for the kids to have a relationship with him (unless he was abusive, which he's not, just self-absorbed).
She was getting a lot of child support before and --
her exhusband just got out of the military and now refuses to give her any money. He is in another state and is not working anymore and says he does not have to.
Yes. There is a reason. I am a little behind on child support. sm
So, I am scared that it will be used against me. I get my son anything he needs and he is very well taken care of by the both of us. Very well. I fell on some hard times last year and I am now behind.
So, if I take this to court that will be held against me and I may lose him forever.
I did NOT want to go into any detail with my post. I just wanted to say that i was having a very hard day and was sad about the entire situation. That's all. Thanks for your caring.
Child support questions
I hope I'm on the right board here. :D I have 2 kids and have been divorced 4-1/2 years. I have had a child support order in effect since around 3 years ago, which included back pay for the whole 4-1/2 years. This was for (don't laugh) $125 a month. I FINALLY just started getting this support about a month ago. First, it was $25-something a week and the past couple weeks, it has dropped down to $9.65. I believe this is automatically coming out of his paycheck (this is the first job he's had in forever). He tells me he has a very good job in trucking and so, what my question is, if I go back to court to modify that order, to get more, since he now has a job, will I need an attorney, or can I do that on my own? I'm really thinking it won't even be worth the time and money with a lawyer, but I would like to have it modified, since he has an income. To add to that, I am paying $250 for the kids' insurance, and I wasn't when the original order was made. He also tells me he just bought a house (which is likely baloney, anyway), but if he can afford a house, surely he can afford more than $36 a month in child support.
PS: Per the handy-dandy canculator on the state website, figuring both our incomes in (what he claims to be getting, anyway), he should be owing between $1500 and $1800.
Thanks, y'all!
I got it! Tell him 1 more kid will equal a lot more child support after the divorce : )

rant! who's owed the most child support?
mine is currently in arrears in the amount of $23,775 --- he inherited MILLIONS when his father died -- he refuses to work, he's never paid me a dime.... my case worker is attempting to put a lien on his $1/2-million home in Vegas.. Blessed with this child, but sure would like some support, maybe not have to work two jobs...
I'm so glad you're all here for ranting.... thanks, friends.
Of course he should help and he paid child support because they are his kids (nm)

I did not receive any child support, so we agreed to
split all bills evenly as we have joint custody. That is what our papers say, that we split all major expenses, i.e., clothes, school supplies, education fees, etc.
Good point! Maybe he should have to pay child support!

Update traffic court/child support
Well, I managed to make it to family court yesterday and back home while flying low :) My son-in-law walked out 5 months in arrears and next payment due 3/1, already in debt for about 2 grand, plus he has to pay for the DNA test (99.999% - ha, didn't need Maury after all!) My daughter is $1500 in arrears with another payment due 3/1, and her order has been moved over into the category to take any Federal Income Tax refunds she gets in the future to be applied to the order. So now, finally, I should have no further court appearances unless the two want to TPR (terminpate parental rights) and let me adopt. The next step for my daughter is jail if she doesn't pay in March, so she is already making noises she might let me adopt. The dud has wanted to me to adopt her all along to avoid CS.
I went to municipal court and had the arrest warrant removed and was given another 2 months to pay the s-t-u-p-i-d ticket. I asked whether the judge would accept that I corrected the tag problem the next day and was told no. If it was expired at the time the ticket was written, then they do not make exceptions. I checked our local newspaper and the city hired 11 new officers in 2006 for the specific purpose of enforcing vehicle/driving codes in the city. They have increased the number of traffic-related tickets issued to almost 18,000 in 2006, up from less than 8,000 in 2004. Now I just have to remember to pay it, but did buy a new day planner today and have written 3 reminders to myself to pay it on time
On another note, as I have no health insurance and need certain maintenance medications (almost $1000) a month, I found needymeds.com. I have already received a 3-month supply of one drug and will be receiving another each month shipped to my doctor's office. The manufacturers help people who fall between the cracks by providing free medications.
I feel a lot better about things.
Don't you watch Judge Judy? Being behind in child support sm
does not disqualify you from seeing your children. It's true! LOL
Child support works by you supplying info to them
You need to contact the state - to supply where the other parent works....they don't track 'em down - you have to supply the info and everytime the other parent changes jobs, you have to call CS and supply them with the new info. Believe me, I did this from the time my child was 9 until 18......
You supply the info and you keep on CS behinds..........don't know what state you live in but in the 21st Century here in the USA - they are gunning for deadbeat parents
AND I live in a huge metropolitan area where said CS was gotten from...20 million people in my state......
If father thought child support was not being spent

If you wanted DS visitation bad enough, you WOULD get
df
If you already have visitation rights. sm
Sounds like her rights to see her son are totally controlled by the dad.
I heard she has made his visitation (sm)
very difficult to say the least. I'm not condoning what he said, but sometimes you just reach a level of frustration, and out it comes. They need family counseling even though they're not together.
Something similar with father visitation
for my child. I explained to my child his father may or may not be here. Be upfront with a child, no use in covering up, no use in confronting in-laws. Just tell the child to be pleased if they get a gift and if not just know sometimes the other person just forgets. Mine handled it really well and no questions.
That's why there are separate bedrooms - sm
quite a lifesaver in my book, even with that though I can hear him through the wall sometimes. I don't think he has sleep apnea, always associate that with being overweight (he is not at 5 feet 11 inches, 163 pounds); so I presume deviated septum. Of course he won't get it checked out. Unless it was a condition of work he just will not go to a doctor, hopefully I will not become a widow because of his stubborness and fear.
I don't see why you would have to open a separate--sm
account just to deposit that check. Once the bank cashes the check, you get the money. If there are not sufficient funds, that will go against HIM, not YOU. He will have to pay the extra fees, etc. to have the check clear. You get your money, either way. They cannot take it away from you if there is not enough money in HIS account.
Yes, you need 2 separate gifts - sm
I have not been to one of these in so long I do not remember. I generally went with something more personal with a bridal shower gift but we are talking about best friends, and then something for the 2 of them with a wedding gift. You can always give money for both though. Surprised though they are doing a shower, they should have everything they both need by this time in their life. Maybe some nice kitchen towels or knives or something of that nature if you do not want to go personal; for the wedding gift maybe a gift certificate to a local restuarant (something useful you know they will use). If you do not attend though, you do not have to send a gift though a card would be the nice thing to do.
They are 2 separate boards.
You'll find the Christianity board listed right about in the middle of the list of boards to the left. See Gab Board, then Conservatives, then Liberals, then Christianity.
I separate mine from his - see why
My husband is completely financially irresponsible and has no idea how to budget.
After spending two years trying to sort out his last horrible mess, his is his and mine is mine now and will be forever more.
Could be a reason why they separate theirs too.
Same here. We have separate accounts and
he has his bills and I have mine. I do know what he makes though and our accounts are linked to the same access so I can at least see what he spends and vice versa.
Should say the child found in Florida proved to be the Caylee child, homicide.
NM
Yes, and we have separate bank accounts ;)

take dog home with you; put cat in separate room for now.

Going on 10 years, separate monies and
we have absolutely no problem with things. We half up big money items such as house taxes, vehicle insurance, the big bills but then he pays for the home, his truck, my BMW he bought me. I pay the smaller bills such as utilies because I have the smaller amount made. Works great for us. No problems ever.
can you separate the flavor from salt?
no, no more than you can separate the Christianity from the Christian. why should he have to HIDE his Bible in a drawer -- because the mere sight of it offends you non-believers? now THAT is silly. and calling the word of God propaganda is very offensive. Ah, but no so much to me as to HIM. and you will one day be before that 'big guy in the sky' and wishing you hadn't been so foolish.
I filed separate from my spouse at the time--sm
against an old (over 10 years) student loan that I had. That was the only thing I filed against and it was way before my spouse and I had even married. Even though I filed in my name only, it affected his credit too, just because we were married. It continued to affect his credit even after we divorced 10 years later. Better think twice. It is not always a good idea to file bankruptcy as a way out of debt. Cut up those cards and start paying cash for things you want/need. The interest on most of those cards will keep you in debt forever. Been there! but not any more! good luck to you!
Has anyone filed bankruptcy separate from their spouse?
My husband and I have all bills and checking accounts separate except for the cars and we split the household bills. I have a ton of credit card debt and with MT pay being less all the time, was thinking this may be the only way out. I know the spouse doesn't have to file if their name isn't on the account, but is this very hard to do? Thanks for any info.
Some married people have separate accts just like
my husband and I. I don’t know what he has, what he makes each week- the only time we know really is when we do our taxes. He and I have our own banking accts but we are signed on just in case the need arises. It might work for her- does for me.
Separate bathrooms would definitely be great, or 1 huge one. Nix to the double

I'd be totally ticked! Time for a compromise or separate

Feed in separate rooms, leave in with food for 1/2hr.

Keeping that part of my life separate sounds best -
I have been asked on dates but just have not been interested. I feel stuck just wishing we could all be a normal family again (the 4 of us). I even think ahead to when I'm a grandma down the road and still can't picture me with a new man! I don't know, maybe I'm just destined to remain alone unless I met the guy who was a perfect fit with my kids.
I see lots of posts from marrieds with separate accounts.
Are my husband and I the last of the money-poolers? We have no separate accounts, and we don't keep track of who paid in more or less to anything. He makes more than I do, but it all goes into the family pot. I do have it easy at tax time, though. Hubby is a CPA. I haven't prepared a tax return since 1983. Haven't balanced the checkbook, either. I just peak over his shoulder. He's self-employed, which is no cake-walk. We pay estimated taxes quarterly and we NEVER get a refund. Even when DH was an employee, we never got refunds. It's a CPA thing. He has a long speech about not wanting to give money to the government interest-free. I don't care. He handles it, and that makes me happy.
Thank you! From a Mom who had 2 daughters, serving 3 separate tours in Iraq - twice over Christmas.

why do you make your lasagne one day, separate it into meal size portions, freeze it, and eat it for

I don't see what one issue has to do with the other.
I don't like the fact that he won, but he's a free to gamble, as are we all.
Probably because it's really a non-issue.
(She was great on SNL a couple weeks, ago, too! Her 'double-takes' etc. were cracking me up.)
My dog and my issue sm
I must have a lot of this chemical or something.
If I am unwittingly *glutened* I get the toots and they are...highly unpleasant, shall we say. Now, I understand that dogs generally enjoy this, but my poor dog does not. She hears the noise, whines and RUNS as fast as she can to other room. Not too long ago, she was being a terrible pest and I needed to get up to work. I made the sound with my mouth. She tucked her ears and tail, and made B-line for the bedroom away from where she thought was coming!
This chemical might be good for my blood pressure, but not so good for my dog.
I had that issue too for a while - sm
I "adopted" my dad's husky and he was used to being totally spoiled. I give both him and my lab dry. He was finicky for about 3 days but after seeing the lab finish up his food for 3 days he started eating no problem. He has started to get a bit picky again so we make up beef boullion for him and add some to the food and he is back to eating w/o a problem. Think he just got bored and wanted some more flavor. Boullion is cheap and easy to make.
I have had this issue for a while myself- sm
My DH will not do a vasectomy though I explained it is easier for him than I, etc. I would have possible heavier and painful periods, which I don't want. Right now they are heavy but I forget most of the time I even have it, which is bad as I have "accidents" then. But I have never really been affected from my period, no cramps or bloating, I do get headaches but that is about it. I have been leaning towards that IUD now, Mirena I think it is called. Figure I will hit menopause in 10 years so can wait it out in the meantime. He knows I am using nothing so if I get pregnant at 43 it will be a whoops, and we are having another child late in life. He would not like it but tough noogies.
Thanks but here is the issue
Living in a smaller town, although right next to a huge complex, not many here that I can locate anyway does acupuncture. The nearest one I found before was probably about 30 or 40 miles away. I can self refer as I have PPO insurance so a referral not needed for me. I just want to know how to word an I only want to use #1 as a pain clinic physician.
Well, sometimes there is a medical issue
as there is here, not just eating and eating for no reason at all. Was always trim and slim until this but thanks anyway for the curt note.
Wiretapping is a whole different issue
You have an expectation of privacy when you have a phone conversation (although cell phones have pretty much burst that bubble). The government shouldn't be able to listen in unless there is cause for them to be suspicious that you are involved in criminal activity.
The other information - SS#, birth certificate, marriage certificate - is already on file with the government. You aren't telling them anything they don't already know.
There is also the behavior issue of (sm)
submissive piddling.
You can buy something called a Belly Band for him to wear in the house. If he dribbles with it on, he gets himself wet, so this can teach him not to let that happen. I've just heard that not all pet stores call it a Belly Band or know what that is, but you can Google something like house training, canine belly band, and you can read about it and maybe order on line.
Corgis are so cute. You can post pictures here on the gab board.
I think it is more of an issue of not supporting
things/people that I find morally wrong.
Granted, the God hating was not translated from the book to the movie, but that is not the point.
The point is, that this author had the audacity to write in his books about wanting children to kill God and that is wrong to ME.
I have every right to boycott this movie for that very reason because I am not giving this man a dime of my money and support.
It's not just about whether the movie is going to wrongly influence my children, it's about standing up for what you believe from the beginning.
