Yes they are strict on divorce. You can divorce, but only for adultery or something equally serious. You are just not expected to marry again. They take Paul's views really seriously. I saw most of her interview and she just does not seem "right" to me and I can't put my finger on exactly what is wrong. Her affect is so strange, even though part of it is cultural. It was really disturbing to me to see her there and knowing that the world was judging her by wordly standards and not by the standards that she (supposedly) lived by. By killing him she has sealed her fate in that community for the most part and it is going to be hard for her to live a "normal life." If she does not get custody she is alienated forever from her children. It also bothers me that OJ has custody (Shiver) and Robert Blake has custody (Same shiver), but everyone seems to feel that she should not get custody. Maybe people who kill their spouses unless in self-defense or the defense of children should never ever get custody. Before I could totally decide about Mary I would have had to have been a juror, there is just too much that we don't know. She certainly got manslaughter and a very short sentence, so I wonder what they jury knows? It is just all so disturbing. I can't believe anyone would ever shoot their spouse unless their lives were threatened, especially when there are children in the home at the time. It is not congruent.
