My wonderful male Siberian who was such a comfort to find soon after losing my Misha at Christmas, took a turn for the worse. He developed pyothorax, which when combined with pneumothorax in a dog, is very difficult to treat. Surgical options were explained. There were many unknowns since it was not known how the air had gotten in to cause the pneumo in the first place. It could have involved removing a lobe of lung, which would have significantly reduced my precious boy's quality of life. After talking to the breeders and vets, there was no good option, and we chose to have him put to sleep.

We are in mourning here. I know God has a purpose, but naturally I feel rather cheated to have had so few months with this wonderful dog.
