Make sure you have the best physician, that you like him and relate well. Trusting him will mean a lot.
Then, follow orders.
Don't put off the corrective procedures. Time is not on our side in this instance.
After diagnosis, I made a point every day to put my dog in the car and drive to a nearby lake and just take in the beauty and thanked God for making it possible for such beauty to exist. And I asked him to help me be strong.
I ate well, slept 8 hours, kept stress out of my life and surrounded myself with people who made me laugh and feel happy.
I also tried to focus on my routine. (A healthy routine has gotten many through the worst of times).
You will discover a new side of yourself and it will be a wonderful thing.
