You could ask them for your reports and
upon reading them make a decision as to whether you think it is "more" on a benign side. I ask for copies of all lab work, path reports, MRIs, whatever and I keep up with them to know for myself about diagnosis, are my labs in range, etc. Maybe seeing the report and reading it will help you make a better decision.
Sad reports sm
I have worked on many cases which were extremely sad. I was always a very caring person and when I started transcribing some of these sad cases, I wanted to quit. My supervisor said, "You can't get involved." I thought she was a horrible person. After many years and many sad stories, I found I got hardened but not without telling myself that I was actually helping the patient by giving them an accurate, caring record to accompany them on whatever journey they took.After becoming an independent contractor, I also worked on oncology for years when pick up and delivery were part of the scenario. I saw beautiful people disintegrate before my eyes and die. One was a beautiful young woman who got married during her treatment and died. When my own younger sister was diagnosed with lung cancer, I was able to answer some of her questions to the best of my ability, talk about her funeral, etc., as she only had 18 months. Years ago, I would probably have had a breakdown just at the news. Did I become, "hard hearted?" No! But I matured in some strange way. My hubby in later years took over some of my deliveries to the oncologist and could not tolerate seeing patients in the waiting room. It was only then that I realized how I had grown and matured. I am sure some of my family wondered why I did not turn into a crying machine at family funerals, etc. What I did do was have the ability to go to the funeral home, arrange for burials, funerals, etc., in a professional manner. I do not understand it myself, as I was always a crier. I just have to tell myself that I have graduated, matured and have gotten to the point where I can help others without falling apart. Who knew?? I think I have been given a gift and my responsibility is to carry on with grace and dignity. I call it "grace in the bank." Never thought I would see the day when I could handle my own bad news, i.e., "You have cancer, you have breast cancer and that breast has to come off!" (My answer: "When?" Doc: "Last week.") My action - 2nd and 3rd opinions. Outcome - I kept my breast, was told by 2nd and 3rd opinions that after tumor board consults, there was only a question of cancer, DCIS changed to atypical cells. Seven years later, I am still here, no sign of cancer, no mastectomy,no drugs or radiation -- just atypia. Since then, watchful waiting and 6 month visits. How did all this come about? Maturity, just mature decisions and a clear head. So hang in there. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger (and wiser). True story. DO NOT ignore your breasts or any other part of your body, but be a consumer in health care. You would not buy the first car you see on the lot. The maturity and wisdom you will gain will help you and your family in the future. You will be stronger, wiser and a help to everyone if you can overcome the emotion. One of my saddest cases - a psychiatrist had to testify in writing her decision to recommend taking away custody of a child from two retarded people who had married and conceived a child. They were not taking proper care of her through no fault of their own. She was crying while she dictated and so was I. Life is not easy. Just remember you are in the "helping profession" and if you don't pat yourself on the back for doing a great job, I will! Don't take it personally, just do your best job ever and the patient will benefit from your perfect medical record. Manage that stress now; it will pay you back in the future. Hang in there.

I had only been with this account for two weeks or so, and I wish now I had known how to save it for myself. The doc was describing, I think, a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Somehow, he says, the CO2 line got hooked up to helium and after insufflating the patient's abdomen, the patient began to rise up off of the operating table, and they eventually had to have step stools brought in to be able to reach the patient to complete the operation (I was wondering why they didn't just tie the patient down!). Anyway, the operation finished, the abdomen was deflated, the patient sank back down to the table and the surgeon closed and the patient went to the recovery room in stable condition. Something seemed a little hinky about the whole thing and I notified the transcription supervisor. The date on the report? April 1, 2003.

I'm not a bagless fan because I don't want to go outside every time I dump my vacuum cleaner. I don't see how to control loose dry material when you remove it from the cannister. I don't want to reach in there, and it seems like just dumping it into a trash can would cause clouds of dust to rise. Just my thoughts on it, but it was Consumer Reports who didn't think Dyson or any other bagless was the best for pet hair.

It's all in the name of TV ratings and money, that's it. I did notice in the beginning of the show (disclaimer: I quit watching after Sabrina went home) that Jenny was very uncomfortable with her partner pawing at her and somewhat reluctant to get into the dances and be all sexy. I think she made the comment about doing that kind of stuff with her partner and his being so much younger than her, and the fact that she's a mom.
And I agree with the poster that said it's a hard job raising moral kids in an immoral world, I'm struggling with that very thing too. All we can do is pray, pray, pray!

Wouldn't this be along the same lines
of forcing a student to take a urine drug test? Isn't that illegal? Whether she's pregnant or not is none of the school's business, unless it is a private school and it is specifically written in the contract that they can test for pregnancy without parental permission (which I highly doubt!). That counselor should lose his job and the school should have to make monetary restitution for the child's suffering.
How can any school official be that stupid to think they're not going to be sued over it?

You are saying no one's business but actually it can be a court's business. There are laws that protect older citizens, seniors, from younger people coming in and swindling them out of money. So, it can be other's business. I have been there as the daughter of a man who, before it could get to court, was taken for over $150,000 that we could count. That does not count the money a nurse's aide got out of him (she used to care for the man's wife, younger) and took him for some money also. That is the court's business.
Thinking along the same lines
I can't sell my house at the moment (too much competition from foreclosures), so I thought I'd buy the land now & build when I sell. When I started checking into financing I found that financing land is harder, lots of times they want to see a building plan and will only finance for 5 years, by which time you are supposed to be ready to convert to a construction loan & start building. I can't really guarantee I'd be ready by then, plus the interest rates are a lot higher for land than for homes, so that kind of killed that idea. My next thought was to refi my house, get enough cash out to pay cash for the land, which is still something I might do. Interest rate would be lower & no deadlines. In terms of what to build, I've also thought about some sort of kit home or modular. The idea of buying something with an existing modular on it is a good one because the utilities would already be in place. Another thought I had is moving my house! I think it would be easier to sell my empty lot than to sell it with the house. Or buying land with a beat-up fixer on it -- at least the utilities would be in place. I could scrape the house & start over but wouldn't have to worry about water, etc. Yet another possibility: I'm seeing lots of unfinished homes; people who ran out of money before the home was finished. Some good bargains there, unless the permits have all expired.
I'm not worried about electric since I plan on having off-grid solar, but internet access is an issue. Start googling "broadband by zipcode" & that sort of thing to find websites that will give you all the ISPs for a certain area.
These days it might actually be cheaper to find something already built, even if it's a scraper, than to build your own, & a lot less hassle. I'm still looking at all the options.
Not what the reports are saying. They're

Been watching reports on TV all day on this.
Sounds really scary. The worst and most alarming report as the worry about spread through the folks traveling to work on the subway systems and public transportation. The last report by Dr. OZ was that they would know more by Friday and be updating things then. Have a local hospital here in town reporting one case and waiting for test results.
One report said if things get really severe, they will close businesses and doggone it all - we work from home, will still be working, and bet the ERs and hospitals will have more reports than ever.
I used to type ER reports.
They were quite, um, interesting. Lots of strange occurrences that increased around the time of the full moon each month. I had one doctor trying to dictate a drunk/drugged patient with foreign object removal, but he couldn't stop giggling through the entire report. He even apologized for giggling.
You should read what some of the VR/ASR reports
come up with. On the other board someone mentioned that ASR came up with a diagnosis that the patient had HIV, which was never even dictated, and she did not know where it came from. Can you imagine if she had not caught that and deleted it.

My old cat was trying to pee in the plants, in the laundry basket, where ever the urge hit. I had no clue what was going on but took him to the vet. The vet literally put in a Foley and a little bag. I was in shock when I saw it. Who would have thought leg bags for felines.
Anyway, he gave me some antibiotics and another pill, a week's supple of Hills Science Diet, and within a week he was back to normal.
I now keep them all on Iams. It is more expensive but they don't eat as much and I have not had any urinary tract problems in over 5 years.

but you cant. adn the important thing now is, that he has his own children that watch and learn from his actions and that if he would like to break the chain...he needs to start acting differently towards them. he isnt going to be able to take back or change things for himself, but he can change things for his children which they will carry with them onto their children... he needs to show them the better way to have a merry christmas by "acting it".---my opinion. (comes from experience,..children dont always need to know the truth about every detail...they learn more from actions)

I have done this work for about 11 years. At first I loved it. I still do love it in a way...I mean I would not mind doing it every once in a while LOL! But I just can't stay focused on it anymore. And I have been having anxiety and panic too and trouble sleeping. I think it is because we don't use our bodies or brains in a normal way and things start malfunctioning. LOL! I don't know! I just know it's making me nuts to keep sitting here all day every day! I got a chance to go with a friend today to walk, have lunch and go shopping. The pure ecstatic feeling I got just at the thought of taking a walk in the daylight and eating lunch out was amazing. That's kind of a problem....it's not that exciting!
From a man's point of view on same sex lines
He told me just this morning most guys do not want to be on chat lines with other guys, do not want to even see things like that nor talk about it even. He says most guys he knows shy away from anything even resembling gay issues, no magazines, no chat lines, nothing. He works at a trucking firm and he says never hears other discussing subjects like this. He thinks there is more than just the chatting going on. This is from my man's point of view.

that people don't want to believe you? I transcribe 2800-3000 lines a day in an 8 hour shift, 65 character line. I've been in the business 27 years, type 150 wpm and pretty much keep up with the dictators speed. Some folks try to accuse me of sneaking in lines outside of my shift to make myself look good... but these are people that typically type 60-80 wpm, stop every few minutes to take care of kids, neighbors deliveries, etc. and wonder why they can't meet minimum production standards.

I personally have great disdain for tax evaders, which is what you are if you don't report your income.
I pay my taxes and report all of my income fairly and accurately. Those who don't are commiting a criminal act against me as a taxpayer and against the government.
Sending your 1099 in a black envelope would be a protective measure, prevening others from easily viewing information through the envelope. Not quite as underhanded as you seem to want to believe. :)

Sure are a bunch of them being born with congenital abnormalities that require a lot of surgery and long stays in intensive care! But of course, let's drive up our own health care costs by pulling out all stops to keep them healthy from birth! Glad to know MY smoking and eating is causing the crisis (although I pay MY taxes and health care premiums), not free health care to thousands of new illegal aliens every day!

I type pediatric reports all the time, and from what
I've been reading, it can easily happen as early as 8, or as late as 14-15. (I was 13, myself). 10 is a tad young, but certainly not abnormal. If I had a daughter going starting her menses, I'd get her something like "Always", the pads that have sticky wings on them that attach them to underpants. No annoying, visible, uncomfortable belts! She may be a tad young for tampons, but maybe when she's a little older that could be an option too. I just wish they had those stick-on pads when I was a teenager!

reports accurate nobody is thinking of pajamas or sweats. The home environment just allows us to be a little more relaxed and take showers, etc. on our own schedule. What in the world does that do to undermine what we know and do? As far as what others think of our job in a home environment walk a mile in our shoes, or slippers, whatever the case may be.

That's probably a big part of your problem is that you are working so many hours. But I have a great chair that I bought about 8 years ago when I was having shoulder pain from transcribing. I searched until I found one where the arms would raise up high enough so that I could rest my elbows on the chair arms while I work and that supported my shoulders.
I need about 10 hours!!!

Really though, I don't feel all there if I don't get 7-8 hours of sleep, but maybe that is because I am accustomed to it, but also that "8 hours" is interrupted by being awoken by the man in my bed that breathes too loud! (i now sleep with ear plugs), plus I have to get up and pee like twice a night...
You raise an interesting point if you can gradually get used to sleeping less... think of all the things I could get done! But it never fails, I have been going to bed around 11, waking up around 6 (interrupted during the night) and without fail I get sooooo sleepy at about 1-2 p.m. Could that be because I have to sit and stare and type all day??

Does he realize how much it means to you that he and you spend Thanksgiving together? I would pull out all the stops here. Tell him it is just for a few hours, can he not put up with them for a few hours out of an entire year? He might also like some reassurance you are not going to let your sister cuss him out again and get away with it (if that is what happened last time). I really would emphasize how much you want him to go to be with you if nothing else. Then if all else fails, yes I am saying this, use the crying card. I am pulling for you!!!

I was walking down the hallway here at the hospital where I work. It is linoleum flooring and I have pumps on. I was heading down to the radiology department to talk to the doc about something and probably going a little too fast. I was turning the corner in the hallway and my heel just slipped right out from underneath my feet! I was mortified. But, you know what makes the story even better?...today is laundry day and all I had to wear to work today was a DRESS!!!!!!. So, I'm sitting on my rump in the middle of a busy hospital hallway trying to cover up my tush before the ENTIRE hospital saw it.
So, in conclusion I guess you could say that:
1. I will not be wearing a skirt or dress again to work any time soon.
and
2. I probably need to slow down on the corners!!!

Just got back from HOURS in the ER.
I don't understand why ER visits take so long. There were only two of us in there and we came in together. I was there for 3 1/2 hours.
Anyhoo, after my doctor stopped laughing, I was diagnosed with a flu-like viral illness, second degree ankle sprain, an award winning black eye and dehydration. I do normally have lower blood pressure around 100-110/49-70 and it was about 98/49 when he first saw me. He thinks I was just super talented and passed out from the stomach pain/nausea and sitting on the pot. I have an Aircast to wear for the next few weeks and told to just take it easy. He was more concerned about the chronic nausea I've had since my gallbladder surgery last year, but I think my body just misses all that lovely bile it produced.
So for now I'm pushing fluids and taking it easy.
Or maybe they could wait a few hours
before coming to the board where they very well know the east coasters want to be talking about it.

and 35 years ago when I lived in Vegas - Pahrump was a very, very small town - probably just a dot on the map - maybe not even a stop light - think I heard recently on some travel show that it had grown - but then again most all Nevada towns lately have.

and I start the prep...Rite Aid Oral Saline AKA Fleets PhosphO-Soda AT 6 p.m. Ugghh. My DH's time is near as well. Just as well, I am throwing up everything I try to eat as my GERD symptoms and esophageal stricture is acting up. Think I will just get in my jammies and jump in bed.
