They'll get to jumpin' up and yellin' at the TV/game after feeding and all of a sudden somebody will rip a ripe one! Ya may as well consider making that classic Knorr Swiss spinach dip with lots of shallots/onions as well.... Cat

Still keeping the windows open, even at night
Here in So. Indiana, we are finally past the heat wave and really having some enjoyable weather.. but are still desperate for some rain. Won't even thinking about burning any wood in the stove until December.
45 here; heat on or windows open today? (nm)
Try scrub ing/mopping with baking soda and vinegar and keeping windows open as much as possible - nm

Check out a coupla posts down...sm
about young men and women in the service and what would be a nice to send over to them....I'm certain your daughter and her friends can come up with great ideas to put in packages...This will lighten the spirits of all who are guarding our freedom.
Many, many years ago, a bunch of us (at the time we were 15-17yo) got wish lists of children at a county home for the severly disabled....We went out and asked for any donations from the local merchants (transistor radios with batteries, pocketbooks, hot wheels cars, harmonicas, crayons, coloring books, dolls or action figures, watches, new winter hats and mittens, small things that they could keep for themselves) stuffed stockings with candy....We were able to assemble a carload of goodies which were wrapped in the colored funny papers.
We got to borrow a Santa suit and satchel to tote all the stuff. Brought my guitar and began to sing Christmas tunes...There was one young lady who had Down syndrome and she wanted to sing a pop tune....Whoa, that girl could wail!!! What an inspiration! From that point on it was all requests....I'm sure Nurse Ratchet was peeved bkz we went over-time.
However, we kept coming by there for a coupla years until we we dispersed for the armed forces/college/careers/marriage and kids. Cat
You might have to copy and paste to open this, as I tried a few times and it does not open. SM
It is worth looking at and warms your heart.
You can use them in turkey chili for one
thing. DH is the cook, but he does that. After adding chili powder it will still taste like chili, which he puts basil in anyway.
Ground turkey (brown first)
tomato sauce
canned tomatoes
onion
canned red beans
canned black beans
frozen lima beans
Picsweet frozen corn added near end of cooking time.
Add browned ground turkey and all ingredients in a crock pot and cook together, except hold the corn out until near the end for sweetest, freshest zing in your chili. The frozen limas and corn are colorful and fresh-tasting additions, we find.
Green and red chili!!!
In my opinion there's not much that can't be made better by the addition of green or red chili. I cook pinto beans with lots of green chili and bacon bits with a bunch of spices and they are sooooo good. And the combination of potatoes and red chili to me is just one of the best things ever.
how about some hot chocolate or big bowl of chili
I am going to make chicken with stuffing for dinner tonight and tomorrow meatloaf cause it is only going to be in the 40s for high temps.
LOL, sounds like my house. DH is making his chili, YUM
He got off work early because of the icy rain.
check out this recipe/link for chili
It's pretty good, although I prefer the package kind and with less meat. My son likes this one, though. It calls for FIVE POUNDS LOLOL!! I just use 3...I can't even see how 5 pounds would work. Three is pretty much ;-)
Tortilla chips and chili cheese dip. I make
the dip with velveeta mexican mild cheese and 1 can of chili without beans. Recipe is on velveeta box. I also get lots of fruits - strawberries, bananas, kiwi, apples, marshmallows and a whole bunch of other things and cut it up myself. I also have a very small crockpot that I put 2 bags of chocolate chips in to melt - goes great with the fruit and keeps most of the kids (and adults) happy. I buy a bag of shish kabob sticks so they can dip everything instead of having fingers going in. Buy some sandwich meat and cheese, spread it nicely on a platter, get different kinds of bread and let them make their own sandwiches. Macaroni and potato salad.
The guys in my family have a chili/soup cookoff
so the women don't have to do much except enjoy. I like the below poster mainly enjoy the commercials. This year is a little more special becuase one of the Giants graduated just a few years ago from the high school my children now attend. I can still remember constantly hearing his name at all the high school football games.
Add green chili and some cheese, and I'd have died and gone to heaven! nm

Chili peppers and little tiny plastic pinball toys.

Can't you pack hot stuff in a thermos? Chili, soup, stew,
s
Also good with frozen meatballs, jelly and chili sauce
yummy, just put in a crockpot.
Frito pie made with homemade chili and cole slaw.

Frito corn chips in the bottom of a bowl, chili
on that with your choice of toppings - we usually put shredded cheese and onions on top. The local BBQ joint makes it with corn chips, shredded pulled pork, bbq sauce and bbq beans - SOOOO good!!

lock windows
I made my fiance nail shut all the windows in the house when I moved in with him until we bought new windows because lo and behold none of his windows locked. While this was probably not smart in case of a fire I would rather be alive to throw something out the window to get out rather than have someone come through the window at night (or day) and do who knows what.
Another warning about windows being down
I had a friend whose husband had the passenger's side window down and the dog was in the front seat. He was on a leash, but he tried to get some fresh air (small dog as well), he slipped and fell out of the window and was hung by the leash when the husband (while driving) tried to "yank" him back in. He has never gotten over it. Another word to the wise - I wonder if this could be just as much of a distraction as talking on a cell phone while driving. If I had a dog, I think he/she would be in the back seat, and I would literally treat him/her more like a child and belt the animal in to be safe. Sorry to hear of the loss in your life. It must have been devastating.
yea - I need windows, gutters, among
other things but I decided 79.00 wasn't going to get anywhere close to what I needed for that! I might as well die if I can't have something I want every now and then.
I always lock the doors/windows too, but
then today I saw this.

Scarier stuff every day.
Opinions on bedroom windows...
I am bringing this up from a thread below since I would like to get some opinions. I have room darkening shades that I have stapled right onto the trim but it does not work quite as well as I would have hoped. I have not found a way to block it so that no light comes in at all. I have blankets over the curtain rod and blankets laying across the top because of the light that comes in at the top.
Also he runs a fan to block daytime noise and so it causes the blankets to move and flutter.
Here is an idea I had but would have to figure out how to build it. Window cornice(?) that would cover the entire window. Four 2x4s long enough to box in the window completely and piece of plywood over it, cover with fabric of some kind (curtainy)and install it on the window. I would also like to figure out a way to make it removable so during the days he's not in there I would have natural light. I was even thinking I could insulate the inside of the box.
I am looking for any and all opinions. Even the littlest light in there bothers him.
I think you have a conflict between windows and iTunes...
probably, Windows Media Player is set as the default. I use iTunes, and when I installed it, I set it as my default player, and I only use iTunes for all of my music "work" on the computer. Try putting a regular music CD into your computer. You might get a message with a list of programs to play the CD. Select iTunes, and there should also be a little checkbox that says something like "set as default" or "only use this program for this type of file" Something like that.
Once you get it going, you should simply be able to drag the music you want right over to your iPod on the left side of the screen in iTunes and just drop it in.
When I first got my iPod, I also had problems. It's very frustrating! My husband gave it to me for a birthday gift, and I was so frustrated that I threatened to just throw the thing out (iPod, not husband). Now, however, I think that the iPod is the best thing to happen since man walked on the moon! Just wait until you start subscribing to podcasts!
We had new windows put in our house over the summer so
we now need to stain all of them. Ugh. We did not want vinyl inside, because our moulding and doors are all wood. This should be fun. Have to try to match the exisiting woodwork. At least I will be busy this winter.
Replace the windows in your house.
If you have an old house, you probably have a ton of air escaping through your old windows. The initial cost will be a good chunk of cash, but it will be worth it from years of energy savings to come.
Did anyone load the new Int. Explorer 7 in your windows update yet.
nm
Yes, I guess you have a "genuine" version of Windows
and not an illegal copy. Can't say that for many of us using company equipment, lol.
With those big leaded-glass windows the builders put
in, it's kind of hard to hide when the lights are on inside and you are in the LR. If I'm in my office and DH isn't in the LR either, I just peak out to see who it is. I may have to replace that dumb front door, but the window in the door is the only window in the living room. Stoopid builders.
Did anyone do the last Windows update and get a message about a DLL address cant be read or
something when you start the computer up.
Change the locks on your doors, nail the windows shut
and fill out a restraining order against him.
I felt it here in NE Indiana for about 10-15 seconds, rattled the windows and shook the couch. nm

nothing is open
I would take her to gynecologist...seriously.
Open minded
Others might see it as straddling the fence. If you are an adult and don't know where you stand on the question of god/spirituality/religion, then you should not respond to postings and criticize others' beliefs. If you truly were open minded, you would read, learn, think, decide, and respect others' rights to do the same.
yo, please open up your brain.....
I don't see why you would have to open a separate--sm
account just to deposit that check. Once the bank cashes the check, you get the money. If there are not sufficient funds, that will go against HIM, not YOU. He will have to pay the extra fees, etc. to have the check clear. You get your money, either way. They cannot take it away from you if there is not enough money in HIS account.
Thanks for the suggestions! Am definitely open to others. nm

I was reluctant to open this...
for fear of the unimaginable...Thanks for posting this adorable guy! AWWWW
I had open RNY in May...Best thing I ever did.
Happy, sexy, healthy! Merry Christmas to me~!!
Actually he can open the refrigerator-
so what is the answer now? He is a smart one, gets out what he likes, the ham, the chicken and just has a feast. Next answer.....
OMG! Get a dictionary and open it up
as
i would open the dialogue
ask lots of questions and listen. Personally i have seen such things. I have had dreams that gave me information in a supernatural way. but what he is saying could be as he says it is, or it could arise out of fear or some other emotion. so again, let him talk and listen. I would not make it into more than it is, or minimize it either.
Never had enough to open a store...sm
But have bought and sold on ebay for over 10 years. Love it.
If the store is still open....
If you have a big platter or can get a throw-away one, make a nice cheese and cracker platter and put a bowl of grapes in the middle, that way you'll still have something to munch on while playing cards, or before dinner as it sounds like dinner is going to be sparse. Throw a couple of boxes of cornbread muffin mix (quick) into a large baking dish and bring corn bread. Everyone loves corn bread. Monkey bread is easy to make with a couple of rolls of those prepaid biscuits and recipes are all over the net for it, simple. Or a fruit platter with a dip in the middle. My brain is tired and the stores are closing. Unless you want to bring a ham but you'd be taking a chance on ruining her menu, after all,you are the DIL! Good luck with it, drink some Slim Fast first! Happy Day! While you're playing cards, something simple is "Scoops" with salsa. Just happen to have them in your trunk. Hurry up, it's getting late, maybe the drug store is open or a 711.
I'd pop it open and get a fork. nm

I'm an OWL - I always sleep with one eye open
ROFL!
go in with open mind
that is what i did with my first....I couldn't decide if i wanted one or not....after about two hrs of contractions i knew i wanted one but since it was a small hospital had to wait until 8 hours later but still got one. I have had more children since then and i defintely had the epidural....so my suggestion is go in open minded and decided then...no need to make a full decision now
