I'm thinking of starting my 3-1/2 year old in dance also. My 13 year old took dance class at that age and she loved it. The recitals were so cute, but of course at that age half the kids were doing their own thing. LOL. I think it was worth it. They get all excited wearing their beautiful costumes. She quit after a few years, no coordination, just like her mother. LOL. I'm sure your daughter would have a great time.

Ballet...
She loves it! She has class today, actually. It's really more coloring and playing right now. Later will come the practice for their recital in June. We'll see how it goes after that, if we'll keep her in since she'll be going to preschool at that time. We probably will.
Thanks for asking!
Ballet for little girls?
Has anyone had or have their 3-year-old daughter enrolled in ballet class? I'm thinking of doing this, as my daughter constantly asks for it. Do they get anything out of it? I already have dreams of my prima ballerina daughter going onto bigger things, and she's only 3! I'm taking her to check out a class for free this week and will see how it goes. It's only for once a week and then a show they put on in June. Just wondering if anyone has any experiences to share. Thanks so much!
In ballet and tap as a child
I went forever and loved it, like the post saying the pretty costumes, still have pictures of me then. Oh, was I a hotsi-totsi! I think I may have been a little older but still magical. Sorta like being a little princess.
Ballet class :) sm
My daughter (now 8) has been in ballet since she was 3 years old. Of course, the first couple of years they do spend learning how to stay in line, twirling around, etc BUT they begin learning the basics which is great! You will see her progress over the years if she stays in it. My daughter participate in The Nutcracker this year and she is now really in love with ballet. She only had 2 small parts but she thougth it was the best thing in the world she has done so far. She is also on a competition cheer team and ballet beat it out. :)
Ballet - we went yesterday and...sm
she loves it, of course! They close the door and you don't get to watch, but you can hear them singing. I guess they'll start learning steps for their recital in June now. Dh is having a fit over what the costume "might cost." I just read the letter when I got home about paying the rest of the costume (gave deposit of $55). The cost for the class is $54 every six weeks. Does that seem good? Does anyone know what the costume could cost? I'll probably just call the teacher and ask, but why not state it in the letter? Is it something they don't even know yet? I'm very new to this ballet stuff so not sure.
MT with daughter in ballet. How is it going?

Mine were 3 and 5 when they started taking ballet - sm
They are now 6 and 8, my 6-y/o loves ballet, my 8-y/o takes ballet and jazz now. I started doing this because they really liked watching it, had been to a matinee through school to see the Nutcracker, and for an activity outside of school. It helps them with working with others, socializing, good physical activity, they learn some coordination, etc. I think it is very beneficial for the kids. My 6-y/o enjoys it a lot though and has good balance for it. I hope they both stick with it, I am pretty sure my 6-y/o will as I know she loves it, my other daughter tends to be lazy, so not sure, but we are in our 4th year and they still like it. Next my older one can try for company as she will be old enough, if she expresses a desire to try for that, then I will really know she wants to keep doing it. They did a Christmas show this year that they both really enjoyed doing, made it a bit hectic around here for a couple months but the kids had a blast. Then in the Spring we have a recital that is pretty impressive and I think it takes a lot of courage to get up on that stage in front of 500 people and dance. Give it a try and see how she likes it, if she is not ready now then maybe next year.
Isotoner Ballet-type slippers
Terry cloth with suede bottoms. I hate wearing shoes but it's so cold and drafty in my office I needed something and got these. They are perfect. They keep my feet warm, don't wear out like socks alone, and I can still feel my foot pedal.
