All I can say is stay on her butt as long
as you have to. I started smoking when I was 15 and I wish someone would have stopped me cause quitting was the hardest thing to do in my life! Honestly, smoking takes over a person's life and I read once that they compare cigarette addiction to being as strong as heroin addiction. I believe it.
By the way, she was probably just ripping off the filter to make the cigarette stronger. I remember trying that a couple of times.
This thread probably won't stay up very long, but
Our country is going to he!! in a handbasket in a hurry just because of scenarios you described with the gay marriage school trip. (I sure hope that no school really did do such a stupid thing.) As Christians, we have every right to be outraged if our child is exposed to such a thing as it goes against our beliefs. What would the atheist community say if we rounded up all the children, atheists or not, and took them to church on a Sunday morning? You can bet the outcry would be such as never heard before.
What has caused all of this? English philosopher Edmund Burke said "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." How right he was! 2 Cronicles 7:14 says 'If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.'
I hope someone gets to praying......and SOON!
I am hopeful she won't stay long either
She seems to be begging for attention and she is okay but personally I am going out on a limb and saying I believe the Indian looking guy is going to take it all. I don't know who Rose is. Have not gotten down the names yet. They also could let that hot mess guy with all that drama go, the one throwing the girly fit with the other contestants and swishing and swaying. I thought surely he would be out the door. I think the talent is tremendous this year.
Thanks everyone! I am swamped with work due to inability to stay still for long. sm
To the one who stated you sit on the exercise ball, do you not have any trouble balancing with the footpedal? I think that would probably help me, but am curious with the footpedal.
To the one who said it gets worse when you sit with your leg under you.....OMG, I sit with my leg under me ALL the time as I thought that was helping to take pressure off my low back/buttocks. I will try that. Thanks so much. My mom even teases me because when I drive, I prop my left leg up beside me.
I have been having this on/off severe pain for 6 months now. Been to ER x3 and doc x2 to no avail other than a Medrol Dosepak seemed to help a few weeks and then back again. I have taken Flexeril and Parafon Forte, which I think helps some. But I am to the point I am taking pain meds q. 2-3 hours as it gets so bad I have to and I am not one to take meds either, never have been. That is driving me insane to be "popping" pills all the time.
My pain is to the left of my spine. I used to have tailbone pain, but have not in some time. This pain now and for past 6 months is in like the dimple of my buttocks area and I have said from day one that it "felt like" it was in my bone there. Like I said, I have iced/heated, etc. to not much avail. I did find some SI exercises on the net, which I did a few the day before and the day after that I was in excrutiating pain so I think it made me worse, but I also read if not fixed or healed it can make them worse. So how do I know without going to a doc? I have no insurance and finances are very tight right now. Has anyone ever used a chiropractor with help? Does it sound SI related to those of you that do experience it? I mean some days I am bawling and doubling over in pain and I have an extremely high tolerance for pain, natural childbirth x4.
To the one who said you have problems when the SI is out of place....How do you know it is out of place? I feel mine is definitely out of place since it does not get any better and fluctuates daily in severity. Would a chiropractor be able to get it back in place?
Thanks everyone and so sorry for the long post, I am just desperately needing help with very little funds here and getting way behind on work.
ask how long she plans to stay as you need help cleaning out the attic or some
yuck job...
maybe?
ROFLMAO!! But hey, with that humor, she probably doesn't stay mad long! Good for her keeping you.
dodging the bullets! Keeps it interesting! And keeps you honest!
sleepover...
My husband is friends with the little boy's father so actually my husband initiated it. He asked my son if he would like Mark to come spend the night, and my son said yes. So I really had no part in inviting him or anything. All my husband's idea. I had only met his mother that evening when we went to pick the boy up. I left it up to my husband to handle the arrangements, which from now on I think I might handle myself. I honestly believe that if we had not brought him home after 3 nights they wouldn't have said a word and wouldn't have called. Last night I had gotten irritated with my husband when we had to bring him back home with us because I kept asking him what is the deal? Are they coming later tonight to pick him up or in the morning or do they want us to bring him. He said they said they would be here either tonight or in the morning to get him. I said "What?!" They don't KNOW when they are coming? I said OMG, I am not believing these people. Then the next day after lunch and they still haven't called or come I have to take him home. I could not believe it. I was irritated with my husband. I said look you need to get an answer from his dad or mom or from now on I will call them. I just totally was blown away. When my son goes home with someone I call the next day and say I will be to pick him up at such and such time. I do not leave it to the parents to bring him home, and I do not just leave him at someone's house for days on end. I am amazed there are parents like this!
How sad. I can offer no help but
I feel so bad for you and your son. I had no idea such a conditon existed. To think of a 5-year-old child existing on pizza rolls and Ramen noodles, makes me so sad.
God bless you both (and the therapists too!!).
Thanks, thanks, I appreciate the offer
but unlike this poor excuse for a person, I am not using our website to ask for donations, financially making it alright for the present. We are going to high kill so called "shelters" and pulling from there to try and give our best little friends an extra hand. I am finding so much joy in what I am doing. In my state you have to be licensed (have that applied for), incorporation (applied for) before you can charge a rehoming fee. When all in order and if others in my rescue group want to charge fees, I will let them have that to go back into the pot to, well save others. This is my heart and what I have wanted to do for a very long time. Probably the most rewarding thing I have done in my life. Here in the south we have an overabundance of animals and I hear there is a need for animals further north. All 3 of my furbabies are rescues, they also are my heart.
Offer these suggestions -
Title loans if they own their cars, sell anything they can, pawn what they can. Some of this will only be a very short-term solution.
Look inside for how much they offer LOL!

Hayseed, thanks for the offer but
today on my way back from ceramic class, I stopped and got my babies some of the organic catnip and ground it up between the fingers and they rolled and sniffed and had such a good time. I wish I could have taken all the covers including blankets, sheets, whatever that I have put over my new furniture from 3 days ago but had no time before had to get to work. Am off tomorrow so will try and orientate the babies towards their new delight. They did love it and am hoping this will be a good thing for them instead of the new leather.
Perhaps it would be better to offer your help locally - SM
What you are doing is wonderful and I can easily understand that you must be selective in helping those who are in real need.
At the same time, you must understand that people are not accustomed to running into true Good Samaritans who have no personal "agenda", so they would understandably be reluctant to provide intimate details of their financial situation to a total stranger, however well intentioned. If "What's the catch?" is their first reaction, it's only natural. Sadly, there have been a lot of scams that have been circulating in the form of "assistance".
By working locally (perhaps through a church or social agency), you can be thoroughly satisfied that you aren't being scammed by someone with a slick story, or someone who would misuse the money, and the recipient of your kindness can be confident of your good intentions.
You're truly a rare bird in this jungle of life. Don't take it amiss if a lot of bird-watchers don't recognize you because they've never seen anything like you before.
Depends if it is long with pregnant pause um no. If it is long and juicy like an op YEP! Short ones
x
The only comfort I can offer is to wish you well and say a prayer for you. sm
I'm sure all will turn out fine, too. My mom went through early stages of cervical cancer in her mid 40s and she is doing well. Best of luck to you and keep us posted and updated.
Thank you so much - some of us are quick to judge and offer
I really appreciate those who have give good advice and hope to help my DD. To those who suggested it was too late, 22 is just the beginning of life IMO, especially if you have been in college and the like. For reasons I do not care to go into, my DD could not work while going to school and so now that she has her own money, well you can figure it out!
I think that's a great idea to offer to
help chaperone! Personally I'd take some kitchen cleaner and some paper towels and clean the counters to "keep busy" when nobody was paying attention, but I'm pretty bold, LOL.
Not that my house is as clean as it should be, but if I had kids I'd be a lot more motivated to clean!
what does a company normally offer for PTO yearly
Starting fulltime and just curious?
Most leagues offer seminars
You may want to look into that for your opposing team and yourself. If these kids sense the parents' hostility, it will ruin it for them. This is written by another little league mother that has already been there and done that. It's not worth the negative energy. Cheaters are not winners! End of story.
Why should she offer to feed the twit? - sm
he was violating a restraining order, I certainly would not make him feel at home. She did the right thing calling the cops. He mouthed off because he was mad at her and wanted to cause trouble.
As for CPS, clean the house, why you still have his lousy magazines there is beyond me if kicked him out. Get rid of all the clutter for sure. Obviously be straightforward with the inspector. I highly doubt from your story that you are in imminent danger of losing your kids. Just be truthful and explain the whole situation, CPS has seen it all and can quickly figure out who the good and bad parents are.
You don't offer to feed someone you have a restraining

I offer snazzy colored pencils.
You'd be surprised how eyes light up when they see they can choose a special looking pencil. I think it's because it's unexpected. I have candy too, but they are more excited about the pencils.
Thank you for the offer. I don't have a cell phone contract, i do the pay as you go. sm
i have ATT go phone stuff. Thank you though.
It is rude to ask someone if they are married. If they offer fine, if not, butt out. SM
Being married does not justify a person's worth, neither does having or not having kids. If you are happy, that is all that matters.
Don't feel bad, I had a 30 year miserable marriage and only stayed married for the sake of my daughter.
I'm in a ten year long relationship with a special man, but I will say, if anything happens to this relationship, there will not be another. Too much weird stuff out there.
I've never had a bride offer to pay for the attendant's dresses. nm

Mary, I offer my prayers for the safety of your sons. SM

Krispy Kreme to offer free doughnuts on Inauguration Day
Krispy Kreme is offering free donuts (or doughnuts, as they call them) Inauguration Day.
In a press release the company announced that it will be "honoring American's sense of pride and freedom of choice on Inauguration Day, by offering a free doughnut of choice to every customer on this historic day, Jan. 20. By doing so, participating Krispy Kreme stores nationwide are making an oath to tasty goodies -- just another reminder of how oh-so-sweet "free" can be."
Whatever. It's surprising that Krisky Kreme even has the money to offer this promotion. The company has been bleeding cash for years and its stock currently trades at $1.50 per share. In 2003, it was trading at more than 30 times that price.
Want a free donut? Just show up at a Krispy Kreme and enjoy your day.
Leave a big sign on her nightstand, tough situation! Some are thiefs, offer a reward!

How long is too long to wait for Pap results?
This is a follow up Pap for an abnormal one a few months back. I have waited for the results for over a month and have called the office once. Any advised about being a patient patient - LOL. Its hard when your in this business, I think anyway, not to be more aggressive about stuff like this.
Boy's 7th B-day party
I am trying to think of a birthday party idea for 7-year-old boys at home. We usually do bowling or Chuck E Cheese-type party, but this year we are trying to not spend as much on the party because we are going on a big vacation 2 weeks after that. I am thinking scavenger hunt in the back yard, but any ideas would be great. Thanks!
B-day party
I think it was my daughter's 13th birthday that we rented a karaoke machine. There were kids ranging from 3-18 at that party and they had the time of their lives!

how about manicures and pedicures

Kerstin...What a lovely name! Do you have a pool nearby (recreation center)?...We used to....and it was free if you lived in the township....That'll be good recreation and exercise for kids and adults. Just make sure all the kids can swim...and don't rely on a lifeguard (I jumped in once after a kid before the teen lifeguard who was chatting up a young lady could be bothered to even look up).
Light snacks after swim....Knorr Swiss spinach dip with bread and taco chips, have a mild salsa available too, barbequed pork shoulder/pulled pork, barbequed chicken of just plain old hot dogs on the grill, buns, fresh sliced tomatoes and fresh fruit salad with seedless watermelon, canteloupe, strawberries, green grapes, pineapple chunks (Cool whip adds a nice touch) for desert. All these things you can do the night before (except the hot dogs) so you can relax and enjoy the moment. Just microwave the meat. Juicy Juice Berry always works....you could add a little ginger ale to make it more effervescent.
Considering there may be so many adults, you could ask them what their tastes are and if they'd be willing to bring a covered dish or help with prep.
All that matters is that Kerstin has a wonderful time. Peace and Joy to you Kerstin and all ya'll have a happy life together.

Scrapbook party
I did a scrapbook party for 4th grade. The girls had to bring two pictures of themselves. They would decorate two 5x7 pages, one they got to keep and the other with a special happy birthday message for my daughter to keep in a scrapbook. She still loves having that and she is in 10th grade.
Party idea
My daughter turned 10 this spring. We had a birthday breakfast kidnap. The girls received a bogus invitation (their parents and I had chatted ahead of time). Instead of the party time on the invite, we showed up at houses between 7 and 7:30am on a Sunday morning, woke them up, and took them to a diner for breakfast in their pjs! It was the quietest birthday meal ever! They loved it! At each house ALL the girls would go wake up their friend. Poor kids!
After breakfast we came home and made lip gloss, decorated flip flops, and wrapped tshirts in tie dye shirts (I dyed them later and ironed on a transfer with the party date on it...).
The goody bags were from the Dollar Store and were vinyl shower totes with a toothbrush, really cool looking hairbrush, and a picture frame which I filled w/a picture from the restaurant.
I had made a tshirt shaped cake which DD decorated with gel to look tie dyed.
HTH
Looks like you are ready to party.
I'll be right over. LOL Have a nice weekend. Plan on having a couple of cocktails myself. It has been a long week.
Yes, let daughter go to the party.

adoption party
Congratulations! It'll be a grand celebration! Not many folks out there like you. Give me some particulars...
What is her name...her favorite color...favorite snack...is she allergic to chocolate...is she a princess or a tomboy?...Does she like art, music or dance....maybe baseball, or basketball, hockey?...So many factors to consider. School's already in by you...How many kids and adults will be in attendance?

adoption party
I have a 7-year-old daughter and she is into Hannah Montana and tea parties. We had a tea party this year on her actual birthday (we had a "big" party at the movie theater, thus the lack of funds! I made chocolate edible tea cups (Google it, it's easier than it sounds) day before. Have thinly-sliced ham and cheese croissants (or just cut the crust off of white bread) top them with a toothpick and grape. Slice strawberries and fan them around carefully placed mandaring oranges and pineapples(out of the can). Serve the tea cups about 10 minutes after they leave the table. Invite some girls that you know she will be going to school with, this will help her become familiar with them. Have dress up items or barbies out. Board games have been popular for us, or swing sets and outdoor play. Ask the other mothers for guidance here. You can find lots of other simple ideas at birthdaypartyideas.com. Love the site and use it all the time. Good luck. It sounds like you are already on the right track.
Adoption Party
If it is hot still where you live, why not have an ice cream sundae party. We have done this for the kids a couple of ways. Once we got parfait cups from the DQ- they were happy to donate some, and bought ice cream and different toppings and sprinkles along with some fruit. Another time, with a group of boys after school we used a piece of gutter (new) about 6 feet long and let the boys make a huge banana split with all the fixings and Reddi Whip in the can. They loved making the huge dessert and it was a lot of fun for all. Just an idea.
party food
Ever had Apple/Cinnamon pizza? 1 can refrigerated cinnamon rolls, 1 can 21 oz apple pie filling, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tblsp. melted butter. Spread c. roll dough on either baking stone, pizza pan, etc. make sure it is really together with no holes in it. bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. In the meantime, melt butter and mix butter, brown sugar with apple filling. take dough from oven, spread with filling, bake another 8 minutes. Let cool. Put icing from can of rolls in microwave for a few seconds to thin out a little. When pizza is cool, drizzle icing over top. This can be made with peaches, too. I always get rave reviews with it. Have fun!
first grade party
Last year when my little girl was in first grade, they had a Teddy Bear tea party for the holidays. Each child could make an ornament or buy one to exchange as a gift. They could wear pj's and bring a teddy bear. Parents were invited. A sign up list for goodies was included. The teacher read stories, and they played music with musical chairs and pin the tail on the elf, I think. They had a lot of fun. The theme was nice too for the little ones, does not matter boy or girl they all like tea parties at that age. For my little boy in first grade, I just sent in cupcakes. I went to the dollar store and got them each a gift which the teacher wrapped and they took turns taking from a bag. Santa (her husband)made a surprise appearance, and once again she read stories to them while they had punch and cupcakes. The other teacher who shared the classroom gave out polar express tickets for the kids to hold at the party and later to take home. It was very cute and fun. Whatever you do have a great time. Happy Holidays
Party tonight...
Other than being well hydrated and snacking, any other suggestions to stave off a hangover in the morning....just in case I might have 1 too many Fuzzy Navels?
It's my first NYE party in ages...I'm so excited!!!
Over the Hill Party sm
You can have a big bash with old friends from school, stating no gifts, and just have refreshments and put on a favorite football game. You could have a team theme. There are plenty of "over the hill" items around. A few friends or just the family, you can buy napkins, plates, etc., at a party store. Depends on his personality, Spencer Gifts is great for small stuff, but be careful, some of it is adults only. If money is tight, you could do a "Dollar Store Only" gift party which would apply to him. My husband has a terrific sense of humor, so it was easy. He likes to cook, so I bought him a paper chef's hat at a party store and a big frying pan and some oven mitts. I asked others just to bring funny over-the-hill cards only, no gifts. There are tons of possibilities, it depends on his personality. I happen to have one that loves funny gifts and feels embarrased if anyone gives him money or gifts. If he isn't that type, then something more sedate would be in order. The main thing - have fun! If your transcription money is just rolling in - a big TV to watch the game or his favorite show. (That's a joke.)
slumber party!!!
Peers are usually pretty good in helping in the make-up category. That way, they all look bad togheter and they're still cool!! LOL
I'm not sure how to say this, but this is not a really huge issue. It's just one superficial way preteens/teens start their quest toward independence and getting to know themselves.
While makeup can be an outward reflection of who she is, her personality and moral character are better indicators. The make-up thing will even out in the long run.
My daugher went through the glitter, the goth, and about every other phase I can think of and she's in college now, well-adjusted, making awesome grades and puts on foundation if she remembers LOL.
So, back to my subject line... have a slumber party or a make-up party and see what happens! :-)
swim party...sm
Make sure you're dressed to dive in and rescue...(The lifeguard was busy chatting up a young lady and I got in before he did)....One of the kids told a fib and said he could swim, jumped in the deep end of the pool. This happened way back/years ago at my son's pool party in February.
It would also be good if at least a couple of the parents stay there to help you...not just stop, drop and roll and leave you all alone with 30+ kids. Safety first around water!
Credentials? I'm a seahag, grew up swimming in the ocean and my sons could swim like dolphins by the age of 2. Cat
