Whirlpool top load
Bought one brand new when we bought our home 5 years ago. It did not work right from day 1. It would go to fill with water but never shut off. They repaired it for free, but then we had other problems with it. It is hanging on by a thread. Next time I am going for a Maytag. Just need to save up for it.
I'm now on my 4th load, and that little washer is - sm
chugging happily away. Meanwhile, I found a way to have the drain tube (empties out in the kitchen sink) do double-duty. You know how you end up with plates that need pre-soaking (or even pre-washing, BEFORE you wash them? Like forks with sticky cheese on them, knives with cat or dog food, plates with God-knows-what on them, and cereal bowls with that petrified combination of sugar and cereal that could easily be used a mortar when constructing brick walls? Well, I just put the offending dishes in the sink, and when the washer empties a tubful of hot, semi-soapy 'gray' water, I've got the drain hose aimed right at those dishes. By the time the laundry is done, and I'm ready to tackle the dishes, it'll take half the time, dish-detergent, and elbow-grease to get them clean, because the job will already be half-done!
:D
Have an 18 y/o Whirlpool, top load, large capacity - sm
not one lick of trouble (knock on wood)--got it with the house (it was 10 then). Have all Whirlpool appliances except for the stove; all are 18-y/o and working great. Very reliable.
Towels and sheets are the one load
I never use softner sheets on because it seems like there is a waxy coating on them that I don't like. They don't seem as absorbent or clean-feeling. I take my own towels with me when I travel because at people's houses they feel coated with wax, and at hotels they have that fishy odor sometimes, like school gym towels - ugh. I think that smell comes from using bleach but then not drying them thoroughly before stacking. Yuck.
Me too, takes a few seconds to load...nm
a
Annoying, but the time to load is now
taking longer than 15-20 seconds, about 30. Hope it gets better soon.
Drinkwell/Work Load, 11:30, CST
I have one. The 3 cats go between that and the Easter/Halloween "bucket." Thanks for the idea, tho.
She's rallied, then hides. I'm watching her big-time. If necessary, I'll take her to my $$$$ vet--but he's worth EVERY penny. Of course, she has a fit when I try to give her the Clavamox/Amoxicillin pills. Although they're out-dated, they're in the sealed, air-tight thingies. Of course, that's making her nauseated as well.
I really appreciate all these kind suggestions!
Incidentally, is anyone getting any (more) work? I'm in tne South Region, and things look pitiful!

Did anyone load the new Int. Explorer 7 in your windows update yet.

that's the viral load - takes 2 weeks I think....sm
That's the one i was talking about - the hep C HCV-RNA....that's the viral load and as I recall, I think that's a 2-week test, but I could be wrong...(I am the one from the prior threat who has it and was posting with you last week and have this test yearly) - anyway - try to relax and perhaps the nurses/assistants don't even know this test takes 2 weeks IF THEY SENT IT FROZEN...I remember they couldn't do the test because it was not frozen.....at one point. Now, when I go, I make sure to ask *does that go frozen or not?*
Our GE top load purchased thru Sears has been nothing but trouble. Could be because of hard

I guess he is smart, he is making a load of money I am sure!
x
Well, I can make a load of money too if I wanted to get into porn. and
having relations with other people, including women. It's a multi-billion dollar a year industry. It doesn't make it right. I can go and rob a bank tomorrow and make a ton of money, but it doesn't make it right.
I like what the Bible says about it - a decent man will make his money with an honest living.
whirlpool
is my first choice. I've had 2 whirlpool washers in 33 years. Not bad....
Whirlpool
I should add . . . we also bought a Whirlpool dishwasher at the same time. The heat button got turned on for heated dry (I do not normally use this) well the darn thing melted. The entire front plate with the controls melted and burned out. It is just lucky the darn thing didn't start our home on fire! I will never purchase another Whirlpool. Never.
tub washer
Yes, I too have found the best way to get them back to looking new (because I always wait until they get yucky), is to put them in a tub of water with some Fantastik or Dawn mixed in to cut the grease and just let them soak. Then I spread them out on the picnic table to dry on a sunny day. The only nuisance is taking down/putting back up.
HE washer
I also would love to try this, but I have an HE washer. How much soap would you use?
No washer/dryer at my apt. building, and laundromat
it's far away & I'd have to burn valuable gasoline to drive there. Thank goodness I work at home and can wear clothing for several days before washing. I wash them in the bathtub and hang them on the fence to dry.
Anyone out there own a HAIER portable washer? - see questions
I just bought a Haier portable clothes washer (8.8 pound, top-load model), and a portable dryer too, with my economic stimulus check. Since I've always used laundrymat machines, I'm a little confused about a couple of things not mentioned in the owner's manual.
1 - Dumb question #1: Are you supposed to turn on the water supply at the sink first, and then the power "on" button to start the machine, or do you first start the power, and then start the machine?
2 - Okay, here's a REALLY dumb one: Where do you put the liquid laundry detergent? There's a little thing on the side of the inner tub that says "detergent", but I'm not sure if you're supposed to pour it in there or not. Also, there is a little thing above that that says "detergent dispenser" on it. This is confusing, 'cause if you pull it open, it's not attached to anything, and certainly not to the other place that says "detergent" on it, so I don't see how it could dispense anything at all. (And although not a domestic goddess, I am quite mechanically-minded and had no trouble assembling the parts and hooking it up.)
I also don't know if you first start the machine, let water get in it and then add the detergent, like at the laundromat, or if you first add the detergent, then power it up.
I REALLY don't want to flood my apartment, or ruin the engine or something by pouring detergent into the wrong hole, so as much as I can't wait to fire this baby up and get started on doing some laundry, I want to be sure I don't "kill" the poor thing its first day on the job!
Fibromyalgia versus the above MS
I know mine not as bad and really feel for the MS sufferer. I do not eat much sugar on a day to day basis, half teaspoon with first cup of coffee to get me started but not a real big protein eater either. I do not want to take a lot of ibuprofen if I can help although I did take 3 tablets upon waking this morning because of the sore all over feeling. Ibuprofen is really hard on your kidneys. I had pasta today that hubby fixed but will try on cutting back on the "whites." Is this something you heard or just something you tried? I am open to all suggestions what others have done to help their fibro. Again, thanks!
spanking versus ISS
Here is a quick question for all of you that think that the spanking from the school is okay and before any of you make any snap judgements, I was spanked as a child and when my children were smaller, they too were spanked(BY THEIR PARENTS)....Do you all realize that this school that uses these "swats" as punishment, would be on the phone immediately if they saw you or found out that you "swatted" that same child as punishment for deeds done wrong at home? Since nowadays they want to tell you what you can and cannot do as a parent to acutally parent your child( and then of course complain about said kids nowadays), that by alloing them to do something to your child that they would gladly report you for is quite ridiculous.
How long is this ISS. For five tardies..it sure as heck shouldn't be a whole day or even a half day..it should be something realistic. Yes, I do know what it is like to have to deal with school principals who are jerks, just remember that this is your child and not theirs and that it is your job to look out for them.
If you really feel that just to get this over with right now, you want to let them swat her, that is your choice but since she is so obviously not interested in ISS, I would definitely make sure that she and the school knows that this is a one time pass and yes, I too would either make her do some work around the house or take something away if only for the hassle.
Btw, five tardies in 4 or 5 months is really not that terrible IMO. That is about one a month. My goodness, we all assumed it was cause she talks anyone think that maybe the girl had to use the bathroom during her time of the month. I would also find out when she was tardy and how tardy. My son was given a tardy cause the bus was late getting him to school and I called and let them know that that is not acceptable in my book. They had given several kids on his bus tardies and after several phone calls and a check with the bus company, the tardies were removed. Yes, if my son had been chatting or something, I would not have bothered to call, I would have just remind him that tardiness of his own making is not acceptable.
Best of luck.
LG versus Motorola
If you had a choice between a Motorola cell phone or LG cell phone, which brand would you choose? I had an LG and a Motorola several years ago and I really liked them both. Everyone seems to prefer Motorola, although I hear a lot of complaints about battery life, etc. I only renew my contract every couple of years so I need to make sure I get one I really like. The one I have now is Samsung and I can't wait to trade it out. The Motorola Razr V9m seems nice, but expensive, even with rebates and discounts. If I know I'll like it, I wouldn't mind so much. Everyone used to rave about the Razr phones and I know one of them has been discontinued now so I have to wonder how great they really were.
Thanks!!!
Vista versus XP
Hi,
I am an MT looking to purchase a new computer, and it seems like unless you special order all the computers have Vista on them. How is Vista compared to XP? The companies I work for do support Vista, but I have heard more negative comments about Vista as opposed to good from people I know who use Vista who are not MTs. I am hoping that this will be a smooth transition for me as I am not that computer savvy.
Thanks!
a verb (versus a noun).............nm
pleasure versus happiness
Pleasure pertains to the senses. For instance, it is pleasurable to eat something you like. Happiness is a state of being which may or may not involve the senses, as in desires fulfilled. For example, it was a pleasure to eat the chocolate cake. I'd be happy if I could have the pleasure of doing it every day.

condos versus hotel
Hi, the only tip I really have is check out the rates of the condos on the beach for weekly rentals.
I know they are probably high for summer time, but they offer full kitchens and more amenities than hotels usually... and you can save a lot of money by making your own meals instead of eating out all the time. The end of the summer we got a really good rate at Emerald Isle in North Carolina... I know that's far from you, I'm not sure if FL is as cheap... but you could look at Myrtle Beach too. Just think you're going to be paying probably at least 100.00 a night in a hotel... depending on how many nights you are staying you may just want to look into the condo idea, and if you need any help once you figure out where you want to go I'd be happy to i LOVE doing that kinda stuff :) have fun and good idea to start saving early
Cable tv versus dish
Can anybody give me their experiences with cable televison or dish, specifically Dish Network or DirectTV?
I am considering getting one of these but don't know which one to go with. Thank you!
Guns versus doctors
Doctors
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health Human Services
Now think about this:
Guns
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million)
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner .000188.
Statistics courtesy of FBI
So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!
Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!
Clothesline versus dryer -- sm
Do you really save that much on the electric bill by hanging out your clothes?
DH doesn't think so, but I'm inclined to disagree with him. If you do save on your electric bill, how much?
Hmm, hard water versus soft
Well might have thought about that but this was noticed as soon as the tile installed and has never been mopped so nothing like that. Heavens only knows where these little spots came from but definitely not water route.
Skinny versus Plump - who is happier?
Well I reckon this will start some fires...Hope I don't get burned.
In your experience, ladies and gentlemen, who is happier? Skinny people who are afraid of a calorie/carb/fat gram? Or plump, curvy individuals?
Having been skinny once upon a time and now having more curves than a country mountain road, I have to say I like myself so much better now that I weigh more. It has been an experience, I tell you that much.
So what do you all think?

tubes tied versus Essure?
Anyone have either of these procedures done? My husband was supposed to have a vasectomy before my IUD "expired", that was 4 3/4 years ago and I have two more months until I have to have my IUD out. I want something permanent and was going to get my tubes tied/cut but then I found out about the Essure procedure. I'm still leaning towards the tubal but just wondering if anyone out there has any opinions. Thanks so much!
He may be....but $300 pool versus a $30,000 truck, and a boat, etc., etc.? nm

Billy Mays versus the Shamwow guy.
Is it just me or how many others out their would like to throttle Billy Mays. I am soooooo sick of him. He's loud, obnoxious, and I'm getting tired of him thrusting his arms out in front every other second. And please someone tell him to stop using the grecian formula. It looks very unnatural. I will never ever buy a product he advertises.
The shamwow guy though. Now he's very enjoyable to watch and I will probably buy anything he advertises. Just a nice switch from watching that obnoxious a$$ BM (gee his initials match what I want to have every time I see him).
Just wondered if anyone out there is as irked as me at Mr. Billy Mays.

Your comments are appreciated.
I second those comments!
It is like parents with the loudest, rudest kids think the entire world should put up with them. The parents seem tuned out. How nice for them! The rest of us have to be subjected to their screaming, whining, running around tables, kicking the back of the booth, and even pulling of our hair. If you dare say anything the parents look at you as if you are the devil himself. Bring on the animals any day of the week!
Thanks everyone for your comments (sm)
I am taking your suggestions to heart...he has a way of making me feel like everything is always my fault..I am going to call an abuse hotline as well as AA and just talk to them and see what they think. Thanks again so much.
In appropriate comments from
Taking a poll here...how many say something to their MIL if inappropriate comments are made and how many just let it role off their back no matter how hurtful the comments are? and I don't mean the first time a comment is made, I'm talking about repeated, obvious, and sometimes in front of other people putting you on the spot. and I'm talking about a MIL that lives close and cannot be avoided.
Thank you everyone for your comments sm
It helps a lot to be reminded that I am doing the right thing. I think my tendency is to just want to fix everything but this time I can't.
My husband and I were deciding on a tubal versus a vasectomy....
after reading these responses about a tubal I told him he has to get a vasectomy....thanks for making my decision easier--I honestly never knew about menstrual issues afterwards...
Looking for inappropriate comments? I don't think so! (sm)
Okay......and thanks for your input. I am the OP and I just want for you to know that I think that your comment was a little on the ignorant side. "I am not soooo appalled." I was a little shocked that he cared so much to go out of his way to make sure I found the right size bra. (He walked away from his job to come over to the checkout counter that I was at and felt the need to ask that, even though I was being checked out by a female clerk that was fully capable of making sure that I found what I needed?) Even the female clerk looked at him and said "What are you talking about?" I told her about the bra I returned to his service desk an hour earlier and she said "He is weird. That is none of his business!"
For the record, I receive male attention frequently and I am not easily offended or overly prudish when comments are made to me. This on the other hand was a bit strange.
My intentions were to ask others if they would consider this question to be inappropriate or not if they had been asked the same question under the same circumstances. I am not playing 'poor victim' here as I consider this a minor incident (yet still inappropriate).
In my opinion, it sounds to me like you don't get many comments offered to you and perhaps you would welcome them if you did? (That's what I get from your comment anyways!)
Exactly, Hayseed. Just look at the comments
on here. I feel sorry for her. People go through things like this all the time in life and do some of the things she has done, but they don't have to read about it in the paper the next morning. I think she needs some help and her family really needs to step in. I read an article that the guy she was seeing last said she would curl into a ball after they had s** and would say, why can't they just leave me alone. It's really sad. I don't think she is a bad person, but that she needs help. She's obviously crying out for help and is going through a lot right now. Everyone on here that has been divorced, just imagine everything about your divorce being front page...it's already painful enough without all that. People are cut throat.
You got me!! Even with the comments below, I didnt get it.
x
Thanks all for the nice comments. Yes
Hayseed, he is a boxer. His name is Dempsey. He is the only thing keeping me sane lately LOL.
smart comments
Me, too. Makes me want to jump in and blast them back! No reason for it.
HA HA HA - loved your comments
Perfect...lmao here....I'm going to cut you off, I hope you believe that. HA HA HA....too funny. I can tell you've got a great sense of humor and also a wonderful outlook on life.
Think I was too harsh in my comments to you sm
I apologize, I am very raw right now from undeserved treatment by DIL so when I saw your posting title, it bothered me. I love my grandkids so much that I would welcome a list of "rules" if one were presented to me. It's too bad she uses the Bible, I have had this done to me more than once by those who misunderstand the good book and use it as a weapon. I certainly would have a heart-to-heart with her, don't lose your temper, and let it be known that interpretation of the Bible is a very private affair and she should never mention demons, bring a Bible to your home, etc., etc. Give her the option of playing by your rules and an option of her only playing children's games, watching a movie, etc., and keeping her opinions to herself. Give her supervised visiting priviliges and then you're off the hook if she doesn't accept. If she persists, then she truly is in need of psychological help which is not up to you to provide. Give her the choice and if she chooses to keep it up, then you'll have no recourse, little kids don't need this. At least you tried, it's her choice to not adhere to your rules, unfortunately, she's missing out on a lot, I wish she could see how lucky she is to be "talked to" and given options. Good luck with it. Hate the sin and not the sinner. I once had to lay down the law with my sister and the Bible. I have made it clear that I won't tolerate Bible talk, she can come any time but the conversation has to be light, not inappropriate, not religious and no politics. It has worked pretty well, once in awhile she has a slip and has to be reminded but we are talking - no religion, no end-of-the world,no Jesus talk, it takes reinforcing every once in awhile. Good luck with it all, it's stressful.
Not sure how to take your comments at this point but (sm)
I don't think I am amazing in any way. I think I had no other choice than to leave and I will probably live the rest of my life on a wing and a prayer.
I didn't see your comments before sm
but it is a subject that has been driving me nuts for several years. I am trying to figure out what happened to decency!
Community living versus single-family dwelling
I was raised in a large single-family home, although it was on a cul-de-sac and there were no other girls my age in the neighborhhood. That was okay for me at the time because I was a tomboy (and because that was decades ago!). I didn't attend school with the kids on my street. I went to a private school where my mom was a teacher.
Now, I am raising my granddaughter in an apartment community (I was already in an apartment when she came to live with me). Because of my financial situation and the area in which I live and the schools I want her to attend, there is no possible way for me to purchase a home for the two of us. My own kids lived in a single-family neighborhood before my divorce, then lived in a mobile home (double-wide trailer...common in these parts of the woods).
I have so many conflicts about how children feel about the type of living arrangements they have, i.e., a _real house_ versus an apartment complex versus a mobile home community. Personally, I would rather rent an apartment and not be responsible for reparis, but that means a constant turnover of other kids for my GD to relate to, which is also the situation in an apartment complex. I don't want to buy a mobile home - which is what I qualify for grants, subsidies and low-interest loans in this area - so she can go to a better school. Would this cause her to be more shame in her personal relationships with other kids at school than a mobile home community??
I would rather live in a townhome or condo, but that won't happen for some years to come. Since I would be a first-time buyer, there are grants I would qualify for, just no financing because of the high cost of single-family homes and for TH/condos in the area where I want her to attend school.
Can anyone offer advice or experiences about growing up in a multi-family community such as an apartment complex...mobile homes (I know how my own kids felt about it now in hindsight)..versus a condo/townhome or single-family home? I have some time to try to put things together before she starts school, so I am trying to decide what the best course of action for her sake. If I decide to move, it will be to plant roots for the two of us for a long time, so I want to try to make the best decision possible.
Thanks for any input!
