wars
I used to think that. And your right. Unfortunately, there are people who take it to far. But God does not tell us to kill for our religion. He tells us to love EVERYONE. Gay people, Muslims, black, white, purple, and everyone in between. You are to love them, and since you love them, you are to witness to them. It is then up to them what they do with it. If I tell you about Jesus, and you don't accept it, it is your choice. Unfortunately, you will have to face the consequences. But if I force it on you, it does no good, because then you are not truly faithful to Christ, and if you don't believe in him and trust him with your heart, you can say it as much as you want and it won't mean a thing. Look, I would love nothing more than to see the entire world united under Christ, but it will never happen. Not until he returns. God gives everyone free will to make the choice of whether or not they accept the fact that Jesus died for them. It is not my place, nor anyone elses, to tell you you MUST accept this. The holy spirit will deal with your heart. The sad thing is, he may have already knocked, and you didn't answer.
You may not believe in God, Jesus, Heaven, H.ell, or anything at all, but just because you don't believe in it doesn't mean it isn't real.
Some of you will come on here and mock and ridicule Christians, and that's fine. While we sit here comfortably debating over the internet, others lose their lives for just saying they believe in Jesus. Do you mock them? Probably.
There will always be wars, there will always be people who take it to far, who twist and tangle the Word of God in such a way that those who are not solid in their faith will believe what that person says instead of what He says. It's a sad fact that many people call themselves Christians on Sunday only. Don't let it fool you though. There are still good, loving, people who believe in Christ, and wish nothing but to see your soul saved. It makes me sick to know that people I care about, people I love, I may never see again after I die, because they did not accept the gift of Jesus. It's that simple. Just accept him as Lord and Savior, and you are saved. No rituals, no rites of passage. The rest will come on its own. Those who honestly accept him will seek him, and in doing so will come to lead a life of trying to be Christ-like. It doesn't mean puppies and rainbows, it means struggling and fighting with yourself to make yourself better, rather than to give into this world and it's possessions.
I'm sorry this is really long. I once had a million excuses as to why I didn't believe, and everyone of them got shot down. I finally realized, the reason I didn't want to admit I believed wasn't because I didn't believe in Jesus, but because I didn't want to have to take a look at myself and admit how immoral I was. But believe me, once you do, there is such a comfort and solace in it. Do I miss the old days? Sometimes. Would I ever deny him again? Not for my life.
during non-combat sure - but the last 3 wars
Please suggest she think 50 times on this subject before making this decision.....
I, for one, am tired of wars for oil and all this other nonsense!!! Last real wars for the US in my mind were WWII and Korea, and very sad that 58,000 died in the B.S. Vietnam War.....I just saw/heard an American solider (one WITH rank) say in Iraq the other day - *this one is turning out to be our vietnam* -
how sad was that to hear?! And I mean no disrespect to those who did fight in Vietnam - my disrespect comes from D.C. and the fiascos and the lies to the people of the USA perpetuated for GENERATIONS!!
exactly!!! long wars are more $$ for warmongers..
it's really a mess!!! These past 6 years have been halacious in this country and really ALL over the world...........very sad, indeed....
Too many wars are started in the name of religon
Enough said. I've read posts people say that kids are plotting because of not enough religion, terrible things are happening because there is no religion in the schools, etc. Let me just say this... In Ireland catholics and protestants are fighting. In the middle east wars are started over religions. In America people fight because of religon (just look at all these deeply emotional emails from people defending their faith). Too many wars are fought over religion. Need I say anymore.
Intervention, Parking Wars, and Cheaters are our "must sees"
We TiVo them so we can watch them together when I'm not working. I'm a sucker for reality shows that depict people in precarious situations (or trying to argue their way out of a parking ticket, lol!!!).
When you wish upon a star
For some time I have been wanting to do animal rescuing but had no idea how to start. I personally rescued a little doggie and after knowing I had no place to keep her, adopted her out to a person who does rescuing and got my dreams answered. The lady is supposed to get her license soon to rescue in the state- right now she works as an extension of a humane society. When she gets her license to rescue will cost nothing to pull out animals that are sometimes put down. I am going to get 3 doggies tomorrow, a mother and 2 puppies. Some of the puppies already adopted out and when the other 2 gone, the mother is put down. This is something I have had in my heart for quite some time and finally able to do something now. I can finance 3, 4 or 5 per month and then in return they will find them good homes. My wishes are coming true.
Morning star
Wow! Seeing a morning star was worth all of that. I think that is awesome! Yeh, I was tempted to go to Kohls with all those commercials yesterday, but my MT nature kicked in, I was home all day, but rested and got lots of laundry done, even cleaned the garage. Now, I don't feel guilty about neglecting a chore here or there. I'll think of something fun to do tomorrow. I hope it's as good as seeing a morning star. :)
Nashville Star
Anybody watching Nashville Star? Who's your favorite? Mine is Gabe.
Do you watch Nashville Star? (sm)
One of the guys (my personal favorite) on there is from Louisiana and the other night after he sang during his interview, he said that cheer. I thought it was really cute!

Next Food Network Star sm
I am watching right now to see who the winner will be. They said this is the 3rd Next Food Network star. I know Guy won last year and does Guy's Big Bite and Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. Does anyone know who the first Food Network Star was? I don't even remember that competition. Thanks.
Vote for Kim on Design Star!
Todd may have energy to spare but Kim has TASTE and a great sense of style. Link below to vote.
Octo-mom to be a porn star!!!
Wednesday, February 25, 2009 – updated: 9:06 am EST February 25, 2009
The very public saga of octuplet mom Nadya Suleman has taken a lurid turn.
According to TMZ.com, Suleman has been offered $1 million by major porn distributor Vivid Entertainment to star in a porn movie.
Suleman became the subject of heavy scrutiny after the birth of the octuplets last month, after it was revealed that she already had six children. All 14 were conceived through in-vitro fertilization.
Vivid told TMZ that the company will give her family full medical and dental insurance if she becomes a "contract girl." According to the celebrity gossip Web site, that would mean Suleman would have to do "multiple videos."
TMZ said there was no word on whether Suleman was considering the offer.
Meanwhile, Suleman appears to have bigger worries than taking care of her 14 children.
Talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw said that she may have to prove she can handle the load, or else have hospital officials withhold her newborn octuplets.
McGraw said the 33-year-old unemployed mother called him Tuesday. She was distraught that Kaiser Permanente officials told her they were concerned about the babies living at her home near Los Angeles.
Property records show Suleman's mother is more than $23,000 behind on mortgage payments and the home is under threat of foreclosure.
Kaiser officials won't comment on Suleman's case.
Suleman has taped two episodes of McGraw's "Dr. Phil" show.
energy star light bulbs
Just remember if you drop and break one of the new energy efficent light bulbs they have mercury in them. you can't just suck up the mess with your Dirt Devil(: On the back package there is a list of how to clean up mercury spills or you can call the EPA in your area. Leave it to our govt to create a light bulb where you need a govt run agency to help you clean it up!
Is anybody here watching Design Star on HGTV?
What do you think about the latest round of eliminations? Who do you think will win?
I think it will be Todd because he is so energetic and good-looking and he also is a very creative designer.
Other opinions?

That's kind of intrusive. The subject is Design Star

Design Star - warning West Coasters: spoiler
Did anybody ever doubt it would be Kim? Woohoo!!!
She is a 68-year-old ROCK STAR, still bringing down the house. 'Nuff said. nm

Everybody is making it out like she's the first rock star to have a drug problem and win an award
Beatles, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, Eagles, INXS, Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton, The Doors, and on and on and on. If we only listened to, or gave awards to, the clean and sober musicians, our musical legends would be a completely different list.

Movies
How do you like Netflix? I have considered joining. We don't generally rent a lot of movies though.
Thought you might want to add one to your list . . . I got the recommendation from Helen Reddy's web site, and I really enjoyed it -- it's called "What the Bleep Do We Know". It's sort of a docudrama/comedy starring Marlee Matlin. Kind of how things are and how they might be. Check it out:

movies
How about Steel Magnolias.
I think you have two different movies . . .
Cary Grant was in both of them. "Why don't you come up and see me sometime" was She done him wrong. "when I'm bad" is from "I'm No Angel".
At least according to:

movies
On a lighter note, what good movies have you seen lately? Last night, we went to see, "You dont mess with the Zohan" with Sandler. It was funny to me, not the best movie, but a good comic relief. I also saw Iron Man, which was good to me just because of Robert Downey Jr. who is HOT!
Sad movies
Have you ever watched a sad movie that you were still crying even when it's over. I just watched The Notebook last night. What a great movie but an absolute tear-jerker. I will still crying after the credits were rolling and it was going on to the next movie. Thank God DH did not come into the room. I would have felt like such a dork. What movies have you cried at? Another one I saw that was a tear-jerker but had a happy ending was Steel Magnolias.
Yes, it is great, and more than movies
I started renting shows, like Will and Grace and Desperate Housewives, things I didn't watch much in the past, starting from the very beginning, one season at a time. It's really great! Oh, and if you haven't done the sex and the City thing, start renting them. You will be hooked from the 1st season. Many women I know says that is their all-time favorite "woman" show.
Which is better - books or movies?
I never really caught on to the whole Harry Potter thing - it even took me a while to like the movies. But everyone is so crazy about the books, my curiosity is killing me. I don't have a lot of extra money to invest to quash my curiosity, so which should I invest in - the movies or the books? I do know that usually books are better than movies, but I'd hate to spend all that money if the movies are just as good!
Have u seen the movies What the Bleep Do We
Both movies can be life changing! What The Bleep Do We Know is about quantum physics, but it is explained in a way that is easily understandable! It is really amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone who has been feeling negative or hopeless or powerless lately or just wants to expand their brain and learn something totally alien.
The Secret has similarities to the above movie, but with more simplified explanations. I pretty much forced my mom to watch The Secret because she has had such a negative view lately and gone through some tough times, and even though she can be a bit skeptical, she loved it! It really inspired her, and the next day she had a terrific career idea and is at least focusing on the positive a bit more.
I think a simple thing like a movie or a book or even a new idea from a stranger can cause a slight shift in one's consciousness and can help create a more positive outlook on life, and watching these movies really did make me want to enjoy the beauty of life a little bit more each day and look forward to the adventures life brings and just really feel alive!
I just wanted to recommend the movies to you and also know your thoughts if you have actually seen either movie and if/how they affected your lives. (~kam)
Loved all these fun movies sm
You had Joe Pesci correct. I am not a person who swears a lot but he swears so much, it gets hilarious. Of course, I watch him with no kids around. He swore so much in Casino that I was laughing all by myself. Husband and I are getting older, so we joke about Python's skit - Bring out your Dead! But I'm not dead yet! So hilarious! Thanks for the laughs. No offense meant by the swearing, I just love Joe Pesci, loved him when he was ordered by the court to live in his own slum houses. I am sure he's a much nicer guy in person. Thanks for the memories.
we watched movies
Chuck and Larry was one of them. We had shrimp cocktail and stuffed clams and those little hot dog pastries and mini quiches, and then at midnight champagne and Italian pastries. It was a nice night. Happy 2008 all.
Try Out Red Box for renting movies.
pppp
I just watched 2 great movies.
We rented Spitfire Grill and I caught Guarding Tess on cable. I've seen both before, but what great movies.
THE HOLIDAY!!!!! I saw it 4 times at the movies with all sm
different sets of friends. SOOO romantic - ultimate chick flick. I never saw a movie with Jude Law before that one. MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME! Jude Law is amazingly gorgeous. I promise, you will love this movie. Ultimate in romance and humor!!Even my husband liked it and he doesn't like chick flicks.

What are your favorite funny movies?
Mine are (in no particular order)
Wagons East
Super Troopers
Anchorman
Baby's Day Out
Almost Heroes
Elf
Yes, those Batman movies sure are scary.
xxx
I love TCM. Great movies.
xx
I gotta go with the American Pie movies
Especially American Wedding when Stiffler eats dog doo! These movies make me pee my pants -- speaking of which, my fav romantic movie is Pretty Woman - that's her line in the opera scene when she tells those old biddies "it was so good, I almost peed my pants."
My best friend loves Grease, too. She knows every single line (which can get quite annoying).
Work, watch movies, etc
Staying home is not hard for us at all. We have no kids to entertain, no family or friends here, and our cat is lonely when we're not here. We have so many projects to work on at home that I love turning on an old movie on AMC and work on my quilts. DH is into computer games. Also we have sorting, straightening, cleaning, paying bills, and all the stuff I can't do when I work from 7 am to 10pm
What are your favorite holiday movies
Now that the holidays are just around the corner we'll be seeing more and more holiday movies. I'm not into the holidays, but I do like holiday movies. What are some of your favorites. I like:
1. Home for the Holidays (starring Holly Hunter) - very funny.
2. Bed of Roses (with Christian Slater) - very Romantic.
3. All the cartoon/animation kids shows like Dr. Seusse's Grinch that Stole Christmas and Rudolph the Rednose Rheindeer (DH loves to imitate the abdominal snow man - and we walk around singing we are Santa's elves while we make movements with our arms like the the animated characters - it's a hoot and we always end up laughing). :-)
4. Homecoming - Christmas story with the Waltons.
My favorite holiday movies...sm
I love The Grinch with Jim Carey. I also have always loved The Christmas Story since I was a kid.
Watching movies online

Whenever I watch one of the Jurassic Park movies,
velociraptors. But mostly T-rexes. The weird part is, I and the people I'm with in the dream aren't really AFRAID of it, but it's presence is an almost-daily ANNOYANCE that we have to take cover from as the dinosaur passes by. In one dream, right in the middle of some sort of fun activity, "Dang! The Rex is coming!" and we all ended up hiding in a bunker of some kind 'til it went away.
