As much as I commend you on being able to do it all, not everyone can. I work at home, horrors, during the day while my kids are home for the summer. They are 7 and 8. I am not the breadwinner but we need the money to pay off bills, etc. I do not watch them every second of the day. I get them doing something whether it is reading in their rooms, drawing or playing in the play room, swimming out back (where I can see them from my desk and they can stand in) or playing on the swingset, or riding their bikes. I get up from time to time and check on them. I have trained them from day one not to wander, not to ride off on their bikes and to stay in the yard. If you remember when you were growing up I am sure your mother did not watch you 100% of the time, granted things were different then but there were still wackos about and bad things and accidents did happen and will continue to happen, it is all part of life unfortunately. I (and I am sure the OP too) never put my children in a dangerous situation, if I am uneasy about something either I am there with them or they don't do it, period. But not watching the kids 100% of the time does not make me (or her) a bad parent. I try to do most of my work at night, but I usually have to work the morning until 12, but I am juggling 3 PT jobs, so that makes it a bit more complex. If I only had the 1 job then I'd only be doing nights, but right now none of them bring in a huge amount as each is about $30 a job/day. So those of us who are not perfect will just muddle along I guess and do the best we can and hope we don't have anyone call Social Services on us! LOL.

2) The threat of nuclear war.
3) Polio. (Yup, it's still out there....)
4) Cars that guzzle gas, (and they keep on building 'em!)
5) Gas.
6) Racial discrimination and homophobia.
7) Still no cure for the common cold. 
8) The dinosaur also known as - the Post Office.
9) Liquid Paper. (But I'm sure glad it's still here!)
10) Telephone poles (and the land lines that go with them).
11) Spam. (The so-called 'edible' kind).
12) Use-once-and-throw-away rocket boosters for Space Shuttle launches. (Why can't those things just take off from a runway and fly up to space by themselves?)
13) California condors in the wild. Also wolves, bears and mountain lions. I'm glad they're still here, too.
14) Dog-fighting, cock-fighting, bullfights, etc. Barbaric.
15) Terrorism. That's all getting pretty old.
16) Bank tellers.
17) The corporate "glass ceiling" for women, and gender-based pay discrepancy. Yup, still there.
18) Destruction of the Earth's natural environment, pollution, etc.
19) Runaway, uncontrolled human population growth. I wonder when someone's finally going to figure out that #18 will never be solved unless we do something about #19.
20) Plastic bags, styrofoam food packaging and coffee-cups, throw-away diapers, etc. Why are they still here?

Gays have been trying to get rights
since the 1950's. Gays only want to be treated and have the same rights as heterosexuals. You have such hatred for gays that I feel sorry for you but then again, it is fear and ignorance that people such as yourself feel this way. There is a high suicide rate of gay children because of the bullying. We are no different than you and I can assure you we do not shove any type of agenda down your throats. I am sure you are the type that if your son or daughter came out to you, you would disown them. Now you tell me what kind of a parent is that? We pay our bills, taxes, own houses, etc., so what is so different from you and from me in daily living? So sad there are still homophobes this day and age.

health care should a drastic decision be made. It is usually a family member...even though we are the ones who take care of our partners when they are sick or dying. We fight for the right not to be thrown out of a shared house by the partner's parents. We want to honor our partner's wishes when they die as we are the ones who have spent years with them - not the family. These are just a few examples.
As far as your comment that we influence young people - that is absurd. All we want is to live our life and as pxmt said, be able to walk down the street without abusive comments, being assaulted, ridiculed, etc.
The school system is not segregating gay children - they are making it "gay friendly and teaching tolerance". Suicide is very high in gay children because of the parents who teach their children that it is evil and it is okay to bash a gay child. These schools are just trying to save the lives of young children.
As far as your comment that Christian's homes and churches are burned, sorry but I cannot recall one incident that I have read or saw on the news. Temples yes. As far as being assaulted for your beliefs, could it be because you stand in front of abortion clinics and gun down the doctors and nurses that come out or go into the clinic? Could it be that you bully the 15 and 16-year-olds who have been raped and want an abortion?
Sorry to say this, at least we (gays) are not violent and just want to be left alone.

I think Judy Blume books are great.....then that is an opinion. Or, My mom thinks I look good in blus shirts, again that is her opinion (she thinks, I think, etc.). All in the phrasing and point of view of the statement. But I enjoy would be a fact, because you are stating what you like to do (a fact), and your mom liking something is a fact as well, as it is a definite statement.

Don't know the facts about this family but....
Common sense dictates that foods with added hormones and antibiotics CANNOT be good for human consumption. It is completely unncessary. I only buy eggs without hormones and additives to the chickens, free range, and the same with the milk. If a human mother were taking in hormones and antibiotics, wouldn't there be a warning to her if she were breastfeeding not to nurse her child, that this could potentially be dangerous.

I enjoy reading books by Judy Blume. That's a factual statement. I'm not saying anything about the quality of the writing or the stories. Just that I like reading the books. If it were phrased Judy Blume's books are really, really good then that would be opinion. You may think so, but the person next to you may think they're trite.
Same goes with the shirt. My mom loves for me to wear blue shirts is a factual statement because your mom does indeed feel that way. If it were turned around so that it read My mom thinks blue shirts make me look good or My mom loves for me to wear blue shirts because they bring out my eyes then those statements are Mom's opinions. And we all know Mom is always right. .........

just as you did. I have found in my life that everyone has to listen to me and take me seriously if I use no profanity what so ever (and don't yell). Of course you should be upset, your child was assaulted by a bully. I'd be all over that like white on rice!!! Call her up, make her feel lousy for raising such a brute of a daughter. Praise your child for being so wonderful. Unfortunately, all we can tell our little ones is that the world is full of mean, angry others and we are so blessed to not have to behave that way. Count your blessings for your sweet son, just love him and hug him all that much more.

I will miss her as I had given up the View due to Star Jones' fiascos....and now, once again, after June, I will never watch it again. Rosie brought the ratings up because after 9 years of Star Jones, people were tired of the show.
