This is definitely my time of year. (SM)
I love the warm days with bright sunshine, the comfortable nights for sleeping and the beautiful display of color on the trees. I love Halloween and when I had my house I would put orange lights out on the porch and bushes and the last 3 years had a big Halloween party. I am my dad's daughter totally in that respect. It was Dad's favorite time of year. I also live in the northeastern part of the country in Pennsylvania.
Anemia
Yes it is definitely related. I had severe anemia a few years ago and my hair was coming out like crazy! After I got "fixed", my hair got amazingly better. I took IV iron therapy for 6 weeks and noticed immediate improvement in the way I felt after the first treatment. Once your anemia is corrected, go get a good haircut and you'll be amazed at how much better your hair is when it begins to grow again. Good luck!
i buy time once a year/tracfone
and it averages out to $8/month. I wanted a phone for emergency mainly too. Initial phone cost was about $20. The big plus to me besides cost is that they feed off ALL cell phone towers, not just their own as other companies do. works good enough for me, and being pretty rural, its really my only option of value.
It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!
It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year With the kids jingle-belling And everyone telling you "Be of good cheer" It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
It's the hap - happiest season of all With those holiday greetings and gay happy meetings When friends come to call It's the hap - happiest season of all
There'll be parties for hosting Marshmallows for toasting And caroling out in the snow There'll be scary ghost stories And tales of the glories of Christmases long, long ago
It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year There'll be much mistltoeing And hearts will be glowing When love ones are near
It's The Most Wonderful Time It's The Most Wonderful Time It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
This time of year can be great but
Dealing with in-laws is awful sometimes. I just need to vent so whoever does not want to hear it you mine as well stop reading now. My father-in-law is crazy and I mean he is bipolar. He thinks he is so innocent and people are out to get him when he stirs up trouble constantly. This is the first time we have seen him at Christmas in 3 years. He has caused trouble with my BIL and SIL and they have wrote him off yet again. My hubbie says he does not want to do that because of the fact of what if something happens to him, he would regret it. He wants to be forgiving which I understand it is his dad, but oh my gosh he stood in our living room last night and told us a bunch of lies which I am know for a fact are lies and then starts preaching to us about people and unforgiveness. I was getting so mad I wanted to cry right there and I could not go to sleep last night I was so frustrated. AAAHHHAAHHH!!
Anyways just wanted to vent. I do love this time of the year with the decorations and Christmas music just could do with a little less of the drama. I wish people did not have to be dumb sometimes. Okay I am done, Thanks for letting me vent!!
It's unbelievably hot here for this time of year
The temperatures are well above average here in Upstate NY. It's in the 80s today and it's supposed to stay that way for the rest of the week and then go into the high 60s-low 70s over the weekend. I love fall too.
By far, our favorite this time of year...
Christmas Vacation - we watch it every year.
Elf is also a great holiday movie
Bruce Almighty
Liar Liar
Austin Powers
Shrek
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
American Pie - not the sequels
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Porky's

Every year same old, same old at tax time Venting-
My husband and I never fight ----- until April. Then it's constant for about 2 weeks.
My hubby is self-employed. We've had a couple of rough years and for the past 2 years were unable to pay quarterly taxes. When tax time rolls around, bang! We're fighting like cats and dogs! He complains about how much he has to pay in every year I really don't blame him, as it seems like in his line of work, a lot of deductions are not allowed and it sucks.
In reality, we gotta get on top of the quarterlies again. Then it wouldn't hurt so much. He said he didn't make any money last year, but we still have to pay in over $8000 to the IRS. I really don't know how this could be either. Then he threatens to sell his equipment. Now for the next 3 months, all I'll hear is the complaining (putting it nicely).
It upsets me when we fight, but I'm tired of hearing it all the time. I wasn't even going to tell him how much we owed but I didn't know where to get the money to quietly pay off the IRS.
Anybody want a wonderful husband for the next month or so? Just until he gets over it, then I want him back. (only kidding---he's a real keeper).
Thanks for listening. Any suggestions on how to get around this crappy tax thing, please let me know.
12-year-old son says I yell at him all the time (sm)
The thing is, I don't. I am recently separated for about 2 months now and my children are happy about moving, as their dad was not pleasant for any of us to live with. But my almost 12 year old son unfortunately seems to have thought it was going to be an opportunity to get away with whatever he wants. He begs me to let him miss school for no reason, and even when I explain to him the reasons why he can't, he wants to debate and argue until I have to firmly tell him no. Then Friday I had given the kids a little money to get something for Easter and I only had an hour, had agreed to take them to one store and if they didn't find anything to take them to another store this week. My son kept begging me to take him to two other stores...even though I explained to him repeatedly that I did not have time. He also started begging me to let him by rated M X-Box games and I told him no, that just because we moved doesn't mean he is old enough for those games. So he started crying on Friday. My 9 year old daughter is acting more mature than he is.
He was about to get out of the car to go into school this morning and he said, "you have been yelling at me all the time, you used to not do that!" My daughter said, "but that was just one time, what are you talking about? It's not all the time." and he again teared up and said that I do yell at him all the time. I think he is upset every time I tell him no. He tries to debate with me and argue his point but if it is no, I just say, "I'm sorry but I can't do that" or I have told him at times that he is not being reasonable. What is going on?
Recheck for anemia
I would suggest being rechecked for anemia since a CBC is fairly simple and inexpensive to do, especially if a local pharmacy or supermarket offers health screenings. You could have redeveloped anemia. A slow, persistent GI blood loss, especially from the small bowel, might not be readily visible and could be difficult to find without a capsule endoscopy. Anemia might also be a symptom of something more sinister. It's worth inquiring since it is obvously bothering you enough to post the question here. Best of luck.
Not sure about the bruising and anemia,
but I also have always bruised easy. No petechia though. If I run my hands through my hair, same thing. I just started the iron yesterday, so I am hoping it will help with the hair soon! I don't know what to do about constipation though. I remember what an issue that was with prenatal pills!
Poll time... if your 15-year-old daughter....sm
has a paper due at school that was assigned a week ago, she procrastinated and didn't start writing it until the afternoon before the due date and didn't type it up until 11 p.m. at night, then knocked on your door to wake you up because she realized there was no printer printer would you:
A. Get dressed and go to the 24-hour Wal-Mart to get paper.
B. Tell her that it's too bad- she should have done her paper sooner than this and alerted you before 11 p.m. that there was no printer paper - especially when she has gone through a whole ream within a month printing out things like rock band and television star photos and other nonessential things.
(For the record - my husband & I did option B to help her learn a "life lesson" last night - she'll get a reduced grade for turning in the paper late but hopefully she'll learn to stop procrastinating on her school work - which is a chronic problem with her - even with her getting A's and B's.)
And sad to say, a lot of people this time of year are mean and cranky...
I am basically done with my Christmas shopping as well...I have found in the past that if I had something in mind and waiting until after Thanksgiving, it would be out of stock and I would have to pay more for it in the long run...
Anyone with anemia and hair loss?
The reason I ask is because I have been having hair loss and the doctor just told me I am slightly anemic. I now have to take iron and I am trying to get more info from anyone who has this? I also have a hiatal hernia, that probably needs to be fixed, and googling this stuff, it could be all related...
Any info from anyone that has experience with this is appreciated!
ever see Neil Simons' "Same time Next Year?" (NM)

I still get a couple loaf pans of it every year at butchering time
DH doesn't touch it but I love it. I grew up on it too.
I also grew up on Spam. Mom had a stove that had a pull out griddle above the oven and she would put spam and egss on there for a Tuesday night supper.
I have 2 cans of Spam in my pantry now. The ingredients state: Pork with ham, mechanically separated chicken, water , salt, modified potato starch, sugar, hickory smoke flavoring (I have the hickory smoke flavor), and sodiu nitrite. Opps. There's that bad word-sodium nitrite.
Red Cross told me excessive tea drinking could cause anemia.

Poll time - should a 12-17-year-old have adult language CDs and R-rated movies...sm
bought for them? My husband & I disagree on this. Our 15-year-old daughter wants a DVD from a rock group that has the adult language warnings on them and I don't want them to have any of them, but he doesn't see a problem with it. He says she can hear language like that at school but I don't think a kid should own it to listen to the foul mouthed stuff at their own leisure. What do you think?
Can you be more specific about
your vision? "Not too bad uncorrected" isn't your typical LASIK candidate. If you don't go to one of the best LASIK surgeons, you might not get optimal results. I went to one of the two best-trained and most experienced LASIK surgeons in my city, and my results were great. But it cost over $4000. There was a lot of testing to qualify. Your lens has to be thick enough that there is room to slice some off, and they will check more things about your eyes than you've ever heard of, things that are very specific to LASIK candidates. Since I have astimagmatism, I opted for a more refined procedure - Wavefront or something. My vision is 20/20 and I'm glad I did it, but it was a very freaky procedure that was so unsettling I was up all night, despite the so-called Valium they gave me. My vision was worse than 20/400. I think another way to say it was 3.75? Or was it 2.75? I can't remember. But I couldn't make out the top E on the eye chart.
That wasn't very specific.
You didn't say if it was noise, trash in yard, wild kids, or what.
If he uses it for only job-specific activity,

Wow. I hate to tell you this but I know of 2 specific cases sm
just like yours where the girls ended up dead. Not enough love in the world could have saved them. Yes, their moms are devastated. It is a tragic, tragic thing. Here's what you need to know. Once you've done all that you could possibly do for this young woman, you need to take a step back and let the "eaglet fall out of its nest." She's homeless? Oh well - she can get a job. She totatled her car (which, by the way, is the way one of the girls died I told you about - was on meth and then crashed). You can't get her another weapon (in this case, another car).
These are just some of the things you can't do for her. What you can do for her is to pray, to get others to pray, to show her unconditional love but that unconditional love is not getting, buying, being manipulated. Do not, let me say this again, do not blame yourself for her mistakes. There are many, many responsible 19 year olds who didn't even have parents growing up. You can survive this. Do you attend a good, spirit-filled church? If not, you need one. You need to focus on something bigger than youself (God). You need to find a passion and a purpose for your life, both of which comes from a relationship with God.
In my own life I've suffered the loss of a son, a marriage, deaths of family members, betrayal of the worst kind, financial distaster, hatred, you name it, I've been through it. For most of this I didn't know God. Then later in life I found God. Thankfully. He's given me a peace in my situation about certain family members that can only come from Him. When I surround myself with other living Christians I find there is a reason to live - not to mention my other 2 kids and new husband.
You absolutely cannot live your life worried, stressed, blaming yourself for her problems. You just can't. Because if you do then that's 2 people suffering. Be strong. Walk away. Just walk away. One step at a time. Walk away.
This is not a specific section of the country
Born in the south, raised and living in the south and always told and taught how to send thank you notes, tried to teach my children, 1 does and 1 does not but they are grown now. I went to wedding in California, no thank you note per se but tacky printed generic note which I wish now I had not taken the time to shop for a gift I thought very nice. Happens everywhere....
You have to have 150 hours with specific courses
I know. My sister just sat for it.
If he wants IPOD, it is brand specific. sm
find out which one he wants and get him that one. They are the best, and especially if he wants an IPOD.
I can use bill pay to pay to a specific account #
at any bank. Its free, too.
I know you said that earlier; you however did not give specific instructions on how to use it. sm
I was just trying to be helpful -- not take the wind out of your sails!
I think its a great idea and should not be gender specific
I think more and more kids should have one. Usually when they start out they have nothing. I don't have kids, but if I did I would start one at an earlier age and just add each year with practical things. I'd also use a chest that can act as a coffee table or piece of furniture for them. I'd include the basic necessities they will need, pots, pans, silverware, coffee cups, etc. Maybe a quilt/blankets, and one gift my DHs grandmother gave me was some recipes of my DH's favorite meals he likes. If you stick it in the hopechest when he gets married or goes to live with someone they wouldn't be offended as though you are telling them they don't know how to cook or something silly like that. I'd keep all the good toys they liked when they were growing up and maybe some photos. Just kind of mix it up a bit. I wish I had one when I was growing up. DH and I started from scratch and it was hard.
The categories are as specific as terms like "violence" allow - sm
Admittedly, there could be some disagreement about "marginal" situations. Is a raised fist "violence"? Some would say yes, some no. Away from these margins, though, there wouldn't likely be much disagreement as to which category a movie belongs in.
And since all movies are fantasy (fiction), whether they contain this sort of thing or not, the question being addressed here is what sort of fantasy is doing better at the box office?
allergies
One of my cats does this and it is just plain ol' allergies. Just to be sure, though, I would ask the vet.
Good luck and congrats on ur first kitty!
yes - what do you mean? allergies? (nm)

Dog allergies/dog book
Don't know what kind of a dog but my sister had a Red Setter that had thyroid problems and also an allergy to wheat and so they had to buy special food without wheat which was only "Friskies" and that did help to cure the itching. Oprah had a repeat on about the Dog Whisper and showed how he cured several dogs of being aggressive around other dogs. His book is wonderful. My neighbor got it and it worked for them. Have been luck with my dog, she is now 16 which is very old for her mix -- chow/lab and she has never been aggressive. Did not have any puppy problems with chewing or barking. Of course she got her walks every day of over 2 miles at a time and I think that exercise is the biggest help. Never crated her either and if and when I get another one will not do that to a dog. Mine is now deaf and partially blind but still walks up to the park three times a day, slow but does it. Never an accident in the house. No medications except aspirin. She will probably outlive me.
Bleh! We have allergies, so the less, the better!
I like Sam's club in the big bucket, though; it smells like I remember detergent smelling when I was a kid. It must be an old fragrance.
We use the Oxyclean ball and love it. Not much scent left, though, but in our house that's a good thing.
Dogs will do this when they have allergies...sm
which they can develop at any age. Take the dog to the vet for an evaluation and if the dog has allergies there are lots of medications for this available - even over-the-counter!
previous cat allergies
My husband almost didn't date me because I had cats, and he was allergic to cats. Fast-forward, and once desensitized, he'd give you a limb before he'd hand over one of the cats.
Incidentally, my allergy shots have literally everything possible packed into them including cats. They don't bother me at all. Something to think about it.
What about peanut allergies?
They could KILL a student with a peanut allergy doing something like this. Do you mean to tell me in this day and age a school can not give a child a meal if they have no money on their card? Where is the compassion? How can a child learn on an empty stomach? I understand they may have to do that with parents who are complete deadbeats, but why embarrass and starve the kids? How humiliating and inhumane. Not to mention potentiall dangerous!
Big problem for people with allergies!! sm
Wondering if those who take their pets think of those people. They didn't go to a store where they thought they'd be exposed and now have to suffer because others think they are above common courtesy and rules? Shame.
Pit bulls are very prone to allergies.
From a little research I did, have you tried a high quality lamb kibble yet? That's what most of the sites are recommending for pit bulls. This is one site, but it is down at the bottom of the page.

There are other antihistamines that are used for dogs besides Benadryl (never use one with a decongestant, of course). Tavist is one I've used. You may find a 12-hour or 24-hour one more beneficial, but do check with your vet for dosing. We actually got an air cleaner for Misha at one point, though her problems didn't turn out to be allergies.
Allergies/headaches from wine?
This California wine is sulfite free. It's grown organically too.

Allergies possible? I lived at the dermatologist - sm
for a couple years, would get this horrible rash on my neck, hurt, oozed, itched, totally sucked. Dr. suggested I do my own allergy testing at home. I put a spot of shampoo, my ferret's hair, body soap, clothes detergent, etc. under seperate band-aids on inside of my forearm and left them on untouched and dry for 48 hours then removed. I had a horrible red rash/reaction to my shampoo. (was also allergic to 1 of my ferrets, the one that still had its musk glands. So I stopped using that brand of shampoo and it cleared right up. Happened again a few years later and switched shampoos again with complete resolution of the rash. Luckily it has not happened since. So it could be as simple as exposure to something he uses every day or on frequent basis, you just need to figure out what. My DH became allergic to Tide about 10 years ago after they changed their Bleach Alternative formula, got a rash all over his body from it, obviously we don't use that brand anymore. Good luck.
be careful if you have environmental allergies
my son has severe environmental allergies and we were told to never hang out his laundry as pollen can attach itself to the clothing and make his symptoms worse. We are also to run an air conditoner, not use fans and never open the windows to help cut down on allergens. So much for frugality in our home!!! :(
Have you ever been tested for food allergies?
What is the one thing that you have at each meal consistently? A drink? Some type of bread?
Start keeping a diary and after a couple of weeks, show it to your doctor to see what he/she thinks.
We've been reading up on dog allergies
and it seems that there are 3 distinct types of dog allergy: to dander, saliva, and urine.
We both think that he is allergic to the saliva since he has intense itching when a dog licks him and he remembers itching intensely when he was a teen when their poodle would lick his neck. He has had a scratch test and he is allergic to dogs, cats, rabbits, and horses, among other things, but he is most allergic to dogs.
It seems that no dog is truly nonallergenic, and dogs like the Bichon Frise that are labeled as hypoallergenic are labeled so because they are groomed more frequently, thus ridding the dog of excess dander. Some dogs are high dander dogs, and one of those is the pug and of course what I want most, a dachschund.
I guess the next step will be to find out if the scratch test was for dog dander or saliva. He's probably allergic to both. Gosh I want a dog but it's not looking good for me.
This annoying little cough I have from allergies or cold
Can't tell which it is. But it has hung on for a long time, and today really driving me nuts. Glad no one is home, they'd think this is the "house of tuberculosis!" My own cough is today's pet peeve!
Is it allergies from all the pollen? Do you live in the South? nm

Heck no! Finally had to get a fake one due to hub's allergies, but it is a beauty once it's up
s
Hi; Oh DEFINITELY familial/genetic components to allergies/asthma....sm
Allergies run very strongly on my mom's side of the family; there are four of us, my brother had severe hay fever/sinus problems all his life, my sisters have the same, my sister Bev has had asthma which she outgrew, lucky thing, and I started out with just generic allergies that turned into allergic diathesis, which makes me allergic to SO MANY foods, animals, plants, trees, environment substances, chemicals, meds, molds, dust mites, etc., severe asthma, and now my docs want me to consider sinus surgery for polyps and a deviated septum. Also, allergies stem from the immune system, and I also have Sjogren's, RA, and SLE, all of which are autoimmune. If you go on some of the national information sites for allergy and asthma, they have some very indepth articles on the familial/genetic link to allergies. But please do not despair regarding children, etc. Sometimes one sibling will be mildly allergic, but another will miss it entirely, it is not a dominant disorder. I have three kids, and they are hardly affected at all, just a bit of pollen sensitivity in the Spring. Hope you are doing well!
