I would like 40 - has not been as bad as I anticipated - is supposed to be 32 by tomorrow and way warmer than some places in the lower 48. Alaska is big for summer tourism - mainly fishing, sightseeing or glacier cruises, so they work hard all summer and come winter can go south - kind of like the snow birds in the southern US. Not everything closes down though - that could be bad!!! I am anticipating the summer months with the long days!!

Does anyone live in Alaska or have lived in Alaska and can you tell me what it is like. Btw - I do realize how cold it is....you should see some of the web cams. Brrrrr. Anyway - just curious.
Alaska
We just moved up here in August from MN. I don't think the weather this winter is much different that there, about 20-some degrees today. We are on the Kenai Peninsula and prices not that much different either except for the grocery store - a little more, but bigger stores with good selection. It is starting to stay light longer now, but I didn't much realize how short the daylight was because too busy working. Yes - Alaska has DSL!!!! Amen.
Thanks, and here are the grizzly bears in Alaska.

I have never lived or been to Alaska but I hope to one day. . sm
It looks so beautiful. I have an aunt who goes to the rural areas and teaches bible camp every year. She takes the most beautiful pictures. A couple of years ago, there was a Bigfoot sighting in the area she was visiting. LOL. One of my favorite books is "Alaska" by James Michener. It is a fictional book but it goes into many different aspects of Alaska from the prehistoric age to present. It is very entertaining. Some day I hope to get there! Good luck to you!
I went on cruise to Alaska and loved it. SM
Saw many private planes. People there said most people leave there during the winter and then come back in spring, since everything sort of closes down in the winter. Is that true?
I'm in Florida, so prospect of living there isn't an option, lol! It was beautiful when we visited, in the 40's and clear. Just like it is here for three days out of the year.
