Green and red chili!!!
In my opinion there's not much that can't be made better by the addition of green or red chili. I cook pinto beans with lots of green chili and bacon bits with a bunch of spices and they are sooooo good. And the combination of potatoes and red chili to me is just one of the best things ever.
Tortilla chips and chili cheese dip. I make
the dip with velveeta mexican mild cheese and 1 can of chili without beans. Recipe is on velveeta box. I also get lots of fruits - strawberries, bananas, kiwi, apples, marshmallows and a whole bunch of other things and cut it up myself. I also have a very small crockpot that I put 2 bags of chocolate chips in to melt - goes great with the fruit and keeps most of the kids (and adults) happy. I buy a bag of shish kabob sticks so they can dip everything instead of having fingers going in. Buy some sandwich meat and cheese, spread it nicely on a platter, get different kinds of bread and let them make their own sandwiches. Macaroni and potato salad.
My plants died when husband still alive but after he died
surprisingly I grew lots of plants and still have them. My housekeeper says he was the devil and that is why the plants died. I was just as bad as you back then, killed artificial plants.

You can use them in turkey chili for one
thing. DH is the cook, but he does that. After adding chili powder it will still taste like chili, which he puts basil in anyway.
Ground turkey (brown first)
tomato sauce
canned tomatoes
onion
canned red beans
canned black beans
frozen lima beans
Picsweet frozen corn added near end of cooking time.
Add browned ground turkey and all ingredients in a crock pot and cook together, except hold the corn out until near the end for sweetest, freshest zing in your chili. The frozen limas and corn are colorful and fresh-tasting additions, we find.
how about some hot chocolate or big bowl of chili
I am going to make chicken with stuffing for dinner tonight and tomorrow meatloaf cause it is only going to be in the 40s for high temps.

It's pretty good, although I prefer the package kind and with less meat. My son likes this one, though. It calls for FIVE POUNDS LOLOL!! I just use 3...I can't even see how 5 pounds would work. Three is pretty much ;-)
The guys in my family have a chili/soup cookoff
so the women don't have to do much except enjoy. I like the below poster mainly enjoy the commercials. This year is a little more special becuase one of the Giants graduated just a few years ago from the high school my children now attend. I can still remember constantly hearing his name at all the high school football games.

on that with your choice of toppings - we usually put shredded cheese and onions on top. The local BBQ joint makes it with corn chips, shredded pulled pork, bbq sauce and bbq beans - SOOOO good!!

I had a "near death" experience and got a glimpse of the other side. The colors were different, more vibrant, more shades and variations than here and the music was indiscribable. This happened in childbirth over 40 years ago and I can still remember every exquisit detail. I also totally believe in reincarnation and that someday we will see heaven spread over the earth and wake up to it's splendor for what it (we) really are.
I don't believe in heaven either...
but that's because I am what I am--a godless atheist. ;-)
I always have to take the difficult path in my life choices it seems, don't know why, must be my whole "gotta have a challenge" mentality. I envy the people who believe in god, heaven, and all the good things that come with the comfort of firmly believing in what happens when we die. I just can never be convinced otherwise; my mom tried right up to her own death and said she was sad for me.
Well I'm not sad and I don't feel purposeless either. I just believe in science and need something tangible. I don't think I'll just become a wormfeast though when I die (course I will be cremated unless there's nothing left to cremate for some reason), but there's some sort of biological electricity in all living things, so I'd like to think that electricity gets transferred some how. In what way, I have no idea.
Cue the Star Trek music now! 
Heaven to me would be seeing my
Dad and relatives and some dear friends completely restored and happy, and being reunited with my pets; Greta, Maggie, Angus and Molly.

There is nothing hateful in my post. At ALL. I gave 2 conditions; either she likes the way she looks or she doesn't. Either way, SHE is the one responsible. Not the MRI company, not airlines, not McDonalds, no one else. If you think this is hateful, it's because you don't think she should take responsibility for her own behavior, & I'm willing to bet you would like the rest of us to take responsibility for yours as well. Good grief! You even want me to take responsibility for your feelings when all I've done is state a couple of facts & conditions. Why am I not surprised.

If there's a surgical indication, like inability to urinate, of course I would have it done! WITH anesthesia.
What I'm against is unnecessary circumcision, which the vast majority are. I seriously question the ability of practitioners to discern developmental phimosis, which will correct itself naturally over time, with phimosis that will cause a serious health condition later in life.

Grandparents are Heaven on Earth
I have no kids so can only give you a viewpoint of how my grandparents shaped my life. I grew up very close (personally) to my grandparents (grandma was my second mom). My grandparents (moms side) lived up the road from us (about a 5 min walk with an open field between us). In the mornings we would walk outside and if she was out we would yell "hello up there" and grandma would yell back "hello down there". She took care of my sister and I during the day while mom worked. We went everywhere with her every day (hairdresser, butcher, stores, errands, church activities, her friends house, etc). She taught us how to whistle with a blade of grass, play "here is the church & here is the steeple, open the doors and see all the people" with our hands. We ate every Sunday supper with them and then she and grandpa moved the living room furniture and taught us how to polka to Lawrence Welk. We also ate there often during the week. Once a week we would spend the night at their house. Grandpa had a lawnmower repair and sales business but anytime I was having trouble in school, he would come in and after supper sit down and help me (mostly with math), but he didn't even think twice about not helping. He was the most unselfish person in the whole world. When I was feeling down about my grade on a report card or test (I was a C & D student, occasionally a B and very rare an A) he would ask me if I did the best that I could and I said I tried really hard but I just didn't understand. He told me as long as I tried the hardest I could he was proud of me. We grew up in the country and g'ma taught us about wild flowers, quilting, and other country type stuff. During the winter we would have sled parties at her house for my girl scout troop and she would bring out hot cocoa with mini marshmallows. Just a couple years ago my best childhood friend was telling me she had just been thinking about that sled party and my grandma bringing us the hot cocoa, and I just have so many wonderful life memories the list would go on and on. She died when I was 16 (30 years ago), grandpa died a few years ago. I miss them so much it still hurts. My dad's grandparents lived 15 minutes from us and we spent every Sunday afternoon with them and when I was old enough to drive I would go up on my own during the weekdays and sit at the table and talk and talk with grandma for hours. I miss them both so much too. I think grandparents are the most wonderful gift a child could have. I was blessed to have mine live so close to us. They spoiled us rotten and we loved it!
Oh how I dream of being young again and having my grandparents to talk to. I'm now 48 and live alone with husband. All my grandparents and mom are gone, dad lives across the country and I see him once every 3 years. I sure do miss them all. I hope all kids have a chance to be close to their grandparents the way I was.
My mom (when she was alive) and dad all have fond memories of their parents (they both told me they had the best parents anywhere).
So the only way I can sum it up is that "Grandparents are Heaven on Earth".

Everyone should be like her... but of course, I come across women every day with all kinds of problems because they are not perfect and their lives are not perfect ... ahh... poor them... I try to provide them with exercises and the like to help them improve their damaged and imperfect psyches, but there are no guarantees when one has a hisory of making mortal mistakes...
I liked the green guy the way he used to be
I don't like him now. I can barely understand him. I really hated that commercial recently as I was shopping for car insurance. I walked into an agency and asked if they could save me money on car insurance (green man popped into my head although it wasn't a Geico agency). They did. I was paying $1500 per 6 months with my old one (again, not Geico) and with the new one I am paying like $700. Boy, I was a happy camper. I called my MIL and said I have got good news, we are going to save over 50% in car insurance. Again, that green man popped into my head.

Green eyed monster
I posted a while back about a woman who was divorced sat down at a football game with dh. I was at home working. Anyway, dh told me about it and he said he did not ask her she just sat there and they enjoyed the game together. I said okay. Anyway, 6 months later dh asked her if she was willing to lease out that 10 acres of land that she has so he can plant hay. She said he could. He did ask me if I was okay with it. I said I was. Well dh went to pay her first months rent and boy did she ever give him the old sob story about how her ex was. She also tells him that several men, married men, have been out there coming to call. She turned them all down because all she wants to do is raise her kids and ride horses.
The only man I ever really chased was dh and I was pretty cut and dry with that. Most the time I admired men at a distance. I have ran around with some pretty wild girls and they would give their potentials a sob story about how awful life is just to play on sympathy then they would brag about how every man in the world “wanted” them. Is this what this girl is doing? Trying to play on DH sympathy and then telling him she is a catch of the town.
I do know my dh. He is more likely to run off with a tractor then he is with another woman. I can almost 100% guarantee it. There is always a slight possibility I could be wrong but who knows.
Another thing that worries me, is if this gal really is flirting and dh doesn’t want to “join her circus of men coming to call” is she going to run him off the property after he put all that work and money into it.
I don’t know why I worry so much. She probably is just one that likes to talk, it could be innocent.
Green-eyed monster
My husband was an attorney who would come home at night and tell me about how his secretary would flirt and carryon with him. He had little derogatory names for her. She had sad stories for him as well, about raising three young daughters on her own, etc. When I was in the hospital for emergency major surgery she even offered to take care of our home and make him dinner, etc. I wasn't jealous at all, but I did warn my husband to be careful of her and the situation. Long story short ... they had an affair, our marriage was over, and I lost everything. (He's since married and divorced from the secretary.)
Just because your husband shares with you about his time spent with this woman does not mean he is or is not having/or will have a relationship with her. The man I am with now would never dream of spending any amount of time for any reason with a single woman without me along with him ... not because I have asked, but because he believes this is the right way to show respect and love for me.
Jealousy isn't that great, but being smart is. Some men with really good hearts can be kind of naive. Just something to think about. Your DH sounds like a good person.
Went semi-green with car purchase
We traded in my minivan (which was getting about 16 mpg) for a slightly used Yaris. They get 40 mpg and my car payment will drop significantly. They rate very well with Consumer Reports for reliability, etc. My sister has one and only has to fill the tank once every 2 months.
Back when we got the van we had plenty of money and the economy was fine. These days, with work changes and gas prices, it should be a big help to be out from under that expense. Plus I have a nearly new car (5,000 miles). It is silver mica color, the sedan model. The little 2-door hatchbacks are adorable, but you can't find them anywhere for some reason.
My rule if not green and fuzzy it is okay. EXCEPT

I forgot, but when my kid tried to pinch me (oh brother), we realized I had a green coffee cup and some green lines in my shirt. HA. So, do you care about this green stuff? Frankly I care about the green in my wallet, so I am typing more than thinking about green beer today. LOL. Happy St. Patty's Day! (green face icon)

That's often a great way to get your green thumb on. sm
I did it for a couple of years in Minneapolis (and I lived in the middle of "Concreteville" downtown). A grassroots (no pun intended) organization got a local company to donate (temporarily) their vacant lot next door, just outside of the downtown area, and the organization collected some ridiculously small fee from each gardener (like $15 or something) for the season, and then we each had a small (8' x 10' ?) plot to do with as we wished. It was fenced in, and locked (we had the combination) just to keep our produce from being stolen, and the plot was just a short bike ride away for me.
It's a great way to meet others in the community, as well. I'd be surprised if your city doesn't already have one in place, if not a number of them. I'd suggest calling one of the food co-ops (as I don't know how one would find the plots otherwise unless one stumbled across a notice about them), and they likely will know of such efforts near you.
