Keep all Christianity discussions and debates on the Christianity board.  I cannot move them there so they are deleted from other boards if they appear.

Could someone tell me if there is a Christianity board as well as a prayer board (sm)
or are they one in the same? I have some faith related questions, but don't want to post on the prayer board again if it is specifically for prayer requests. I do not see a Christianity board listed. Thanks so much.
Thanks for that! It is also on Christianity Board (sm)
It's so poignant that it's good to have it on both!!
Please take this discussion to the Christianity board.

Does this post not belong on the political board?

Started out shoes, now it is politically based, not on right board.

Are you as 'funny' ? as this joke? BTW they belong on the Comedy Board...nm

Difficult based on taste, easy based on ethics.
I was a vegetarian for 10 years, then a vegan for about 5 before meeting my husband, i.e. Mr. Barbecue. He thinks he will die of starvation if he doesn't have some form of animal flesh on his plate at least twice daily. I do eat meat minimally now but not without guilt about the way the animal was raised and slaughtered. I don't believe meat is healthy either, esp. because of the hormones, antibiotics and unnatural feed commercial livestock receives. I have free-range chickens and use their eggs, and I buy raw milk from a local small farmer whose cows graze freely on organic grass. I am working my way back to a meat-free diet in spite of my DH. Can't wait to shed the 20 pounds of animal-fat blubber I've accumulated and get my cholesterol level back down to where it used to be! You just have to give peas a chance.
All prayer requests/topics belong on Prayer board only. NM

I have followed your threads since they
first started a few days ago. I kept thinking about my brother and SIL. Their marriage was very much like yours. She would cringe when she heard his car pull in the driveway not knowing what kind of mood he would be in. Never physicaly abusive but definitely verbally abusive. My SIL was and is still my best friend so she told me lots and I grew up with my brother and know what kind of person he is. They finally divorced (after separating several times) after 14 years of marriage. It was the best thing for both as well as the children. It is not always easy to make the decision, my SIL talked about it for over 10 years before she finally did it, but am so glad she finally did.
Then how many more threads

the beauty of Christianity
We ALL have skeletons in our closets!!!!!  We all are sinners!!!!!  The beauty of the gift of Christ is that we can be forgiven through his sacrifice if we make him our Savior.  That is what draws the line between a true Christian and an unsaved person, not the sin, as we all have it in our lives.
and Christianity is an easy life? sm
And no, I would never disown a child of mine, any more than my Father in heaven would never disown me.
I feel your pain! (See my posts to other threads above) nm

power walking......see link here:

http://www.thewalkingsite.com/howtowalk.html

TIPS FOR WALKING FASTER

1. Use good posture. Walk tall, look forward, (not at the ground) gazing about 20 feet ahead. Your chin should be level and your head up.

2. Keep your chest raised, and shoulders relaxed (shoulders down, back and relaxed).

3. Bend your arms in slightly less than a 90 degree angle. Cup your hands gently. Swing arms front to back (not side to side - arms should not cross your body.) Do not swing elbows higher than your sternum (breast bone). Swing your arms faster and your feet will follow.

4. Tighten your abs and buttocks.. Flatten your back and tilt your pelvis slightly forward.

5. Pretend you are walking along a straight line. Resist the urge to elongate your steps. To go faster -- take smaller, faster steps.

6. Push off with your toes. Concentrate on landing on your heel, rolling through the step and pushing off with your toes. Use the natural spring of your calf muscles to propel you forward.

7. Breathe naturally. As you walk, take deep, rhythmic breaths, to get the maximum amount of oxygen through your system. Walk fast enough that your breathing is increased yet you are not out of breath.

WALKING DON'TS
Common mistakes made by walkers...

1. Do not over stride

2. Do not use too vigorous arm movements

3. Do not look at the ground

4. Do not hunch your shoulders

5. Do not carry hand weights or place weights on your ankles

What is the difference in power walking, fitness walking, and racewalking?

Fitness walking is called by many different names - power walking, fitness walking, health walking. Power walking is commonly used to represent an exaggerated walking style. This style of overstriding and exaggerated arm movements is often linked with injuries. Because of this I don't generally use the term power walking. A better term for a healthful energetic walking pace is "fitness walking".

Fitness walking is much more than a stroll or nature walk. When fitness walking you incorporate the muscles of the upper body making it a GREAT aerobic activity. It burns approximately the same calories as running, yet it is much easier on the body. Because more muscles are used it burns calories much quicker than less aggressive walking. It also tones muscles in the buttocks, thighs, hips, shoulders, upper back and abs. Most fitness walkers average about 12 to 15 minutes per mile.

Unlike racewalking; there is no official definition. There are no rules. If you walk at a purposeful fitness walking pace using good technique you are a fitness walker. Use tips above to insure good walking form and to increase your pace.

Review Summary

Originally produced by the BBC, Threads is a shattering speculative tale the onset of World War III, and the horrors of the post-apocalyptic society that struggles for survival. The film takes place in the ruins of Sheffield, a British working class town. Despite the fact that the world seems to be falling apart all around them, a young couple (Karen Meagher, Reece Meagher) intend to go ahead with their upcoming wedding. As the date draws near, however, simmering international tensions soon erupt into global thermonuclear war. In the devestation that follows, the apocalyptic erosion of society sends mankind hurtling back hundreds of years into an age where famine, strife, pestilence, and death wash over the land like an unrelenting flood of venomous bile. The central theme of the film seems to be that the adage "Life Goes On" just isn't good enough in a world doomed to a slow death by radiation. Without resorting to shock or sensationalism, this one makes The Day After and Testament look like kids' stuff. Though not picked up by any of the major American networks, Threads was widely distributed in the US through the auspices of cable mogul Ted Turner. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

But not believing in Christianity doesn't automatically
.
I'm afraid we are giving the wrong view of Christianity sm
Christians believe that every person on Earth is a sinner, and for our sins to be forgiven, we believe that Jesus was and is God's son and that we can pray to God and tell him that we believe Jesus died for our sins. There is plenty of evidence to be found to show that Jesus was not just some nice guy or prophet who died on a cross. Believe me, I looked into it when I had doubts. As for adherence to religious dogma, if you study the teachings of Jesus himself, you will see that he was against those who clung too tightly to their religious beliefs, the Pharisees, who thought they were better than others. Jesus did not hang around ultra-religious pious people, but instead hung around those who were hated in their community, and caused quite a bit of gossip because of it. He stopped the stoning of a woman who was caught having unmarried sex with someone else's husband and said let he who is without sin cast the first stone. No one threw a stone. That is how it is supposed to be.
You don't have to belong to
organized religion to have a relationship with God. But I do believe he gave us the Bible to learn about Him. It says he wants our undivided devotion. That is a point that is very, very clear, but extremely out of style. In fact, it has always been out of style!

I think our human nature wants to know God, but unfortunately also wants a god we can control and whose story we can write. I am guilty of those longings to have the power to control all things at times, but I do believe there is only one God and he is holy and righteous and all-knowing, and we are just the creations who don't have the right to decide what the Creator should be like from our tiny little perspectives. So I repent from that pride, and we humans come with a nature that doesn't want to do that. And that's why it's so hard to be a human, I believe.
well with 50% vote fan-based,
lots can happen. But its still a great show with all the interest angles. I never did think she was the best talent myself. but what stunned me was the 'warmth' between her and her partner. It was really surprising to see such an open demonstration of affection in that setting...
Based on that dreadful hula alone
I thought Sanjaya would get the boot. That was just weird. Too bad we can't vote for the one we want off. Let's get organized here people - is everybody voting? Next week let's dial 'til we drop. Don't give up, don't be disheartened. We can do this.
house cats do NOT belong outside...

they got hit by a car or disappeared.....or brought a bird (dead) to my pillow...*lol* -

nothing really good happens when you let house cats become outdoor cats......

I blame the OP as much as the SIL....take responsibility and don't let your (future) cats out of doors EVER.....especially since you KNOW the situation with the dogs of hers.

Should we destroy a whole breed based ...sm
on what a few do wrong? Look at the Dalmation attacks, Alaskan Malamutes, Pomeranians, etc. Should we destroy these breeds too?

Um, kids don't belong on a 3-hour TS tour
in the first place. I'm sure everyone else there was cringing when they saw your brood in tow. One in diapers, no less. Unreal. I think these tours are meant more for wealthy people who can afford these things, not for people looking for freebies for the whole family. And I'm suprised the guy was bothering you at all, and just didn't say, "NEXT!"...lol
Good mother and enabler do not belong in same

Another good faith based one is Thin Within
you can Google Thin Within on the web also. It focuses on how you feel about yourself. After going through it for the first time I was able to separate ME and how I felt about ME from how I felt about the extra pounds I carry.

I have avoided Weigh Down because I have some issues with some beliefs and practices of the founders, but I have heard it is a well designed and good program.

Convict, judge. I don't do that. I don't agree with the lifestyle based on
homosexuality to be a sin.  If you read my posts completely, you would have seen in my example of running into each other in the mall, that I would be respectful to you, but that did not mean that I agreed with your lifestyle.  In the end, God with judge us all.  That's not my job.

Main board, gab board, company, etc, just like here,

naw - that was the old board that did that, aka the 'other' board!
why was it here and not on the Politics board anyway?
Is that board still available?
Thought I had it in favorites, but takes me to the main board . . . I do not have board options to the left though. Anyway, the Gab board is to gab about anything not MT, so I'm sure she's fine here, but I had been trying to check out the WAHM board yesterday and couldn't get there, so just thought it funny you brought it up today.
a new board??
Oh, I love it.  We can yak about anything here?  I'' be back!
RE: Gab board

Sorry about that. . .I'm new to this site. I'll take my questions out to the Company Board. I might get some additional advice there.

I don't think many on this board ... sm

I posted on scrapbooking one time and didn't get any response.  I love to scrapbook and I am about to finish up one that is a thank you gift for the family that we stayed with last year on vacation in Colorado.

I am limited in what I can spend on it so I have to depend on a paper cutter, scissors and I love corner punches.  I think I have seen the machine that you are asking about but I really don't know anything about it.

The question I posted back quite a while ago is concerning scrapbook programs on the computer.  Do you know anything about them?  I think I would like to use one of those programs but I have not found anyone as of yet who is knowledgeable about them. I was trying to research that one day through Google and found this website. You might find the answer to your question on here: twopeasinabucket.com   This is a scrapbooking website and I found it quite interesting although I didn't have a lot of time to spend looking for the answer to my question.  Good luck!

About using this board -
Does anybody know why, especially in the replies, when I click on the subject sometimes I just get one letter or a mark, or there just isn't anything there?  Am I doing something wrong?
I think there is only one Jan on the board,
so you can always skip her posts if you don't want to read them.

When somebody is hurting, it is only natural for a caring person to offer whatever they have that could help. Every Christian on earth was once a nonchristian, and somebody led them to Christ, perhaps by offering them help or hope in a time of need.

Nonchristians of all kinds are also free to offer whatever help or hope they have to offer.
I saw this on another board I was on
and it was said that Walter Reed will not pass out cards made out to "A Recovering American Soldier." So you might want to check before you do it.
Thanks, JMR, we need more like you on this board!
Thanks so much, will copy your info down. MERRY Christmas, and thanks for your positive and kind input!!!
what other old board?
.
What other board?
nt
You don't pay for the other board....
the best thing about it is nobody is nasty towards each other, no name calling if you have a different opinion about something, not much whining and complaining about how horrible someone's job is, etc. A nice breath of fresh air over there. Been on the political board here lately? If you want to see nastiness, pettiness and childish behaviour, hop on over there for a bit.
