When I was a teenager, and I am female so I am sure it is much more so for males, I was very headstrong and the only way my parents would have been able to keep me away from the people I was hanging out with would have been to move. That's a fact. They could talk to me until they were blue and ground me and whatever, but I would climb out the window at night to see my friends! We lived in a bad neighborhood. The main thing he needs is to not feel that everyone is against him or that everyone thinks he is bad. I did not have those issues happen to me, but my brother did. He spent years in juvenile detention and eventually jail for DUIs and for getting into fights in public. He is now 35 years old and has a good job - but no driver's license, not even to go to work and back - and his wife has to drive him to work. Whatever you have to do, including moving, would be worth it. He may hate you for it in the short-term, but it's better than the alternative.

It is recommended that the girls receive this immunization at this age for FUTURE sexual contact. That does not mean you are condoning sex at that age, nor are you encouraging it, but you may be saving your daughter from cancer LATER in her lif. How would you feel if at age 30 she came to you with the diagnosis and knwoing you could have possibly prevented it? No one says to go have sex at age 10, 13, or even before marriage, but let's face, the child is eventually going to have sex...whether it be before or after marriage. You also can teach your child all of your VALUES and instill in them the morals you desire for them to hold on to, but you CANNOT expect that. You also have no clue whether her future mate (sexual or marital) has been privvy to any STD and therefore cannot predict any outcomes of what she may or may not end up with. Since this particular STD does not show up in clasic formation, such as herpes, etc., it would be better to be proactive in her healthcare. This is not a "go ahead and have sex" immunization, but one of possible preventable disease.

When working for individual docs offices, once the wife came on the scene, she would book every last second of his time, the docs themselves only wanted to "doctor" and the wives controlled the $$$ to the point of ridiculous scheduling 10 min. or much less apart. They were also the ones who would "search around" for lower transcription prices, never asking background, only what you charge. They're usually all about the money. Gyn's do have "nurses" and I stand corrected. Most GP's I know hire for on-the-job training, I always ask every time.

My son received the "Einstein Award" in his science class on his last day of school for having the highest percentage in the class all year (over 100%). Obviously skipping has not hurt him a bit. Also, I only found out in a casual conversation about end of the school year goings on as he did not even think it was important!

The oral pain/anti-inflammatory my cat was prescribed (which thank God I didn't give her without researching it!), is "Metacam" (meloxicam) oral suspension. The article below is from the rescue where I got my cat. Thank goodness I checked their website just now!
I was wrong about her vomiting BEFORE we went to the vet. It was last night, which was about 8-10 hours AFTER being given one dose of Metacam p.o. (This was an off-label treatment, as the oral suspension is for DOGS.) Since it was given in the vet's office directly into her mouth, and she weighs less than 10 lbs., she most likely had an OVERDOSE, which is why she vomited up her dinner in every room of the house lase night. The drug had been prescribed to help bring down the inflammation in the area of her lesion and fluid aspiration. But among other things, this drug can cause kidney failure in cats. "No, thanks!" I lost a cat to renal failure a few years back, and it took me 3 years to pay off the over $5,000 in vet bills I'd put on my MasterCard! And the cat still had to be put down, anyway.
So, here I've been spending the morning researching veterinary literature, checking my pet-insurance coverage limits, and biting my nails about the possible damage I might have done to my cat simply by trying to keep her up-to-date on her shots. I'm just about to change my pet-care-policy to "no more shots and no more meds"!

What is Metacam?
Metacam ® is the veterinary brand name for meloxicam,,a
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)used to reduce
pain and inflammation.This article deals with two versions:
Metacam Solution for Injection (for cats)and Metacam Oral
Suspension (for dogs).
Metacam ’s FDA Approval Status
Metacam Solution for Injection was approved for one-time
use only in cats on 28 Nov 2004 (NADA 141-219).Metacam
Oral Suspension was approved for dogs only on 15 Apr 2003
(NADA 141-213).As of July 2006,the approval status of both
medications has not changed.
There is a misconception that using medications in a non-
FDA-approved fashion is illegal.This is simply not so;the FDA
regulates drug manufacturers,not the practice of veterinary
medicine.Veterinarians may prescribe any drugs they have
reason to believe are safe and effective,even if the particular
use is not FDA approved (this practice is known as "off-label "
or "extralabel " use)).However,you and your cat do not have
any FDA assurance that the drug is safe and effective.
Common uses of Metacam in Cats
Metacam is commonly used in cats for two cases:
(a)Metacam Solution for Injection (or simply "Metacam
Injection ")is used to provide post-operative relief of pain and
inflammation for up to 24 hours following procedures such as
dentistry,spaying and neutering.Vets often prescribe a few
daily follow-up doses of Metacam Oral for continued pain
relief,although this is not an FDA approved use.
(b)Metacam Oral Suspension (or simply "Metacam Oral ")is
often prescribed to relieve arthritis pain in cats.Although this
is also not an FDA approved use,it is known to be effective,
albeit with some risk.
Low Safety Margin =Higher Risks
According to the manufacturer ’s product sheet 1 ,Metacam has
a narrow margin of safety (also known as therapeutic index )
in cats,meaning that there is very little difference between a
safe,effective dose and a toxic dose.Repeated doses of
Metacam Oral in cats have been known to result in death,as
documented in the clinical tests 3 submitted to the FDA.
The narrow safety margin in cats is reflected in the FDA ’s
Adverse Drug Experience (ADE)reports 4 for Metacam Oral,
which summarize drug side effects reported by veterinarians.
Of 842 reports for dogs,19 cases of kidney failure and no
deaths were reported.However in 320 cats,105 cases of
kidney failure,48 deaths and 35 cases resulting in euthanasia
have been reported.This clearly indicates that Metacam poses
a much greater risk in cats than in dogs.
The use of Metacam poses not only a significant health risk to
the cat,but also exposes the cat owner to significant financial
risk.The treatment of kidney failure requires days of hospitalization,
and the outcome may be death.Whether the cat survives or
not,the hospital bill can easily exceed $1,000.
Because of Metacam ’s narrow safety margin,veterinarians
will order blood tests to check your cat ’s kidney and liver
functions and general state of health.Don ’t try to save money
by refusing these tests;it ’s essential to know if your cat is at
greater risk.Should side effects occur,your vet is likely to
order another round of tests to check the drug ’s impact on
your cat.Be prepared for these costs.
Problems with Smaller Cats
The post-surgical use of Metacam Oral in smaller cats (under
10 lbs.)poses a unique problem.The product sheet for Metacam
Oral 2 warns against administering the drug directly into the
mouth for dogs weighing less than 10 lbs,as this may cause
an accidental overdose.Instead,it must be mixed with food to
ensure slower absorption.The Metacam Injection used during
surgery may cause loss of appetite,and the cat won ’t eat his
oral dose.So you ’re likely to try to administer the dose directly
into the mouth,but if your cat weighs less than 10 lbs.(and
many do),this only increases the risk of overdose.
Questions for your Vet
Given the clearly documented risks of Metacam Oral in cats,it
is wise to ask your veterinarian the following questions if he or
she recommends its use:
Are my cat ’s blood tests (especially liver &kidney functions)OK?
What side effects should I look out for?
Under what conditions should I discontinue the medication?
Who do I call on evenings or weekends if my cat has a reaction?
Is there a 24-hour emergency animal hospital in the area?
May I have copies of the Metacam product sheets?
Persians are a more delicate breed,are you sure this is safe?
My cat weighs less than 10 pounds,are you sure this is safe?
What other pain medications are FDA-approved in cats?
What pain medications were you using prior to Metacam Oral ’s
release in 2003?
Are these medications safer and/or cheaper than Metacam?
Conclusion
There are clearly documented risks associated with the off-
label use of Metacam Oral in cats which may lead to kidney
failure and death.These risks should be carefully discussed
with your veterinarian before proceeding with any Metacam
treatment.For post-operative pain relief,explore other alternatives
with your veterinarian before agreeing to the use of Metacam.

I agree, as I am sure you do, that your son is the #1 priority here. You need to stick to your guns and let him know that you will have him arrested as a runaway the next time he goes out of the house without your permission. Unfortunately, he really needs to be scared right now of what the consequences will be if he breaks rules. I would also suggest weekly drug tests for a while, just to let him know you are on top of it. I would also let your BIL know that if he ever touches your kid again he will be arrested for assult and that if you hear or see of him abusing his kids again you will call CPS on him... I know this sounds harsh, but he should not be allowed to get away with bullying anyone like he obviously is used to doing. As far as your sister is concerned, I agree with the other poster who said she may be scared of her husband. Wow this is really an ugly situation, and I am so sorry you are dealing with it. If you will accept, I would love to pray for the situation and all involved...

You and your husband need to sit down and work out a plan and present a united front. At the age of 19, he is legally an adult. This is your home and you have the right to be treated respectfully. It seems you both need to confront him with how you perceive his behavior and present some alternatives, whatever you decide is best. If he does not have a car in his name, take away the keys, even if you have to sleep with them in your pillowcase at night. You can't let this behaviour affect your younger child. You can withdraw the invitation that he stay at your home when not at school if he cannot treat you nicely. You don't have to DO these things, but present some alternatives if he doesn't change his ways and then follow through if he continues. They say people treat you badly only if you allow it. It sounds like it's time to stand up and be firm about how you are treated. Best of luck in a tough situation. I hope you get your husband's support as that will be critical. Don't let this man ruin your marriage.

even want to post on this board. My son chose this. He started acting up when he was 18 years old and will be 35 in June. He just decided he wanted nothing to do with his family. We have been around and around with this junk. Last time he called was 2 years ago. He calls and starts a ruckus and then you don't hear from him for 3-4 years. I haven't laid eyes on him in 9 years. He has to figure out his own problems.
I have another son who is 32 and is a firefighter here where we live. He is a joy. He is married and I agree with you about a sons a son til he takes a wife. Everyone I know who has sons and DIL go through this. I love my daughter-in-law dearly and have never had a cross word with her but its not like my son and I don't get treated as well either. I just suck it up and go on. No reason to cause a ruckus.

I think I have this straight-
you took a job without the new job knowing you had a vacation set up and taking right? Bad time to have started UNLESS upfront you discuss the fact you have had set up for this and that length of time. The job I am with now was started right when I had planned in advance for some time a vacation. Before hired, I told them of my plans and asked any problem? No and I have been at same place now since 2006. I never would start a job and then spring on them the next week oh vacation time. As far as advice, just find another job. If you put in your notice at first job, I probably would ask for that back until you get something else.
That's a straight lie
Last Christmas our church bought toys for the kids in the neighborhood for their parents to give them KNOWING that the chances of them ever actually participating in the church were slim to none. We didn't screen, we just made sure those parents got to give their kids a decent Christmas.
That's just one example, I can give you many more.
How about Brother Charlies, a "thrift" store in Georgia who usually just gives away clothes to anyone who can't afford to pay a couple dollars a shirt. Or the Brother Charlies shelter, who takes in any and all men (because most shelters are for women and children)
We have a conference once a month at our church and a budget list is passed out. About 70% of our funds go to organizations and food pantries. We have needed bathrooms and a new A/C unit in our church for about five years now but we are waiting until we can afford it WITHOUT taking money from the charities and pantries we support. Til then we will just put up with leaky toilets and hot summers and cold winters. God never said we'd get to be comfortable!
I'm so tired of everyone always ragging on the churches. Why don't you stop spitting the same ol' rhetoric that you hear and go do some checking out for yourself.
And before you come back and say you already did and they turned you down, then you need to check out different churches. Those that are OF GOD and FOR GOD will turn away NO ONE.

The reason for having to file CS orders against both is that my GD gets a small welfare check each month, Medicaid coverage and WIC (for now and free school lunches later). All CS attempts/costs are handled by the state agency, not a private attorney. They now have an interstate agreement that is supposed to be more efficient, but hey, that is their ball of wax. Any money they collect goes to the state first to repay the aid my GD gets, along with all the associated collection fees...so I really am not holding my breath (might pass out! lol) on EVER seeing any money. Neither of them can ever have custody of the child again due to the laws in my state, so what I have is the next best thing to adoption, plus GD gets the aid. So, I'll let the state do their thing - they are rated very high on the list of collecting CS as compared to other states - and now that I'm done with court appearances, I will just raise my little one and let those that need to worry do it for me :)

I think doctors today are just different. I remember doctors that would actually stop and rewind to the spot that needed to be corrected instead of dictating it after the fact. I also recall the time when doctors did not say "umm, or keep you hanging waiting for the next word. I overheard two doctors discussing his mother's surgery and recovery. The attendings that are "supposed" to be training these up and coming doctors should include dictation techniques.

Hi to all you smart legal types,
My dear sweet grandfather passed away on February 6, 2009, at the age of 87.
My brother and I have been named in the will in place of my father who has alcohol dementia and is in a nursing home receiving state assistance. My aunts and uncles (my father's sisters and brothers) are also in the will. My grandfather's intent was to keep the estate in the family, so,therefore the will was changed to me and my brother. On the day of the funeral my aunt (who is the executor) informs me that there may be some CDs and/or life insurance policies that were not changed to me and my brother and are still in my father's name. My grandfather's intent when changing the will of course was to keep the estate in the family and not have it to go to the State of Wisconsin since my father is receiving Medicare and Medicaid. This does not make sense to me why everything was not originally changed!
I am unsure how this all goes, but these things I have learned from a friend who went through a similar situation and want someone to clarify me if I am wrong.
Here goes: First off, why would the original lawyer (they have since hired someone else to handle the estate since my father passed now) not have made sure everything was changed and had my father's name taken off everything? Shouldn't this have been part of his job since the original intent was to keep it in the family? And if this is part of his job, someone suggested I contact his malpractice company as this may be our recourse to this dilemna since he didn't do his job properly.
Secondly, since my aunt is the executor, I was also told that what an executor does is acts in the behalf of the deceased (my grandfather) and she has the authority to have this changed even now. She is telling my brother who is the power of attorney for my father that he needs to hire a lawyer and have this changed. I am also told from my friend that if he does have to hire a lawyer he can sue the estate to recoup the costs of doing so, which I am sure will go over like a lead balloon! Is my aunt not aware of what her role is or am I wrong? My brother of course has a passive/aggressive personality and I am the go-getter, and he basically said he doesn't care and wants to let it go because he does not want to deal with it. I feel if my aunt is so concerned about it and keeps bugging him about it and has the authority, then she needs to do it. But, I also told him that grandpa's intent was to keep it in the family and if something can be done to change it then we should, but of course it may not be worth it monetary wise either as the lawyers will get a good chunk of change. And on that note, am I allowed to ask the lawyer exactly the dollar amounts we are talking such as life insurance, CDs, or the estate itself since I am listed on the will? My aunt told my brother, but not me and he says he doesn't remember.
I am not very trusting of my family and I can see greed written all over this! If this is not being handled properly by the family, especially my aunt, I am trying to figure out what is in it for her. I have a call into the new lawyer, which by the way, I was not told that we had switched laywers by my aunt. I only found out through my brother who I spoke with the other day. Since we are all listed in the will, we should all be kept informed. I don't believe the family really wanted me and my brother in the will, but agreed to make the best a of bad situation as best as they could, versus the State getting the money or the only grandchildren listed in the will!
Sorry so long and windy, but have so much on my mind right now regarding this situation and until I get some real answers this will bother me all day. Please if anyone out there understands anything about how wills and/or estates work and has any insight, please respond.

Get a chicken...nay, a ROOSTER. My old cat thought he saw an all-you-can-eat buffet when he first met "Steve," my Rhode Island Red. He was stalking Steve from behind a bush (my chickens are free rangin'), started that low belly-creep towards his prey, and Steve saw him coming from the eyes that are in the back of his head. That bird actually turned on my old cat and chased HIM away. He's been reformed ever since and hardly goes outside anymore, even though Steve and his girls are long gone. He's totally shell shocked, even though Steve never got near him. Even the cute little chickadees in the window feeder make his hair stand on end now.

Who among us has not colored their hair, seen a plastic surgeon because we weren't satisfied with our bodies, took a pill to alter our mood or help a physical condition that made us uncomfortable? Who has not dieted, worn colored contact lenses, got a perm, had liposuction? Who didn't get their ears pierced, or love someone who has a body piercing or a tattoo? Even if you never did any of these things, did it make you "sick" whenever someone else did?
Why is it MY business what someone else does with their body? Oh, that's right, it isn't. If I don't like your decision to become a blonde, should it make me "sick"? Should I sneer at you and throw rocks because I personally don't like it that you got breast implants? Well, that's what people do to people that change their sex. What gives them the right?
I am still cleaning up my mess from about 2 months -sm
ago. We have paid off all but $3K on my husbands cards, have them paid off in full by March, don't want to get stretched to thin over Christmas, car insurance on 2 cars and propane for heat. I am on hardship plans with 2 of my credit cards, one is no interest for a year, the other is 10% for a year. Cut the payment in half on one, the other only by about a 1/3). Have 2 of my others current again--small balances on those, and working on getting the last one current--need another $600 on that one to get caught up after not paying for about 3 months. But in 2009 plan to use a debt settlement company and for at least the 2 that are on the hard ship plan (don't think it will work on anything you have current) and that should save me I hope at least $15K before interest, which is about 40% of the total due on those two. But waiting until 2009 because of the tax liability, will have a year to save up the taxes owed on any settled accounts, have $1400 set aside so far, figured on saving at least $3K to be safe. --but yes you can do a lot yourself in terms of negotiating a lower payment and interest as long as you show good faith. I am making my payments on time (they directly debit it from checking). Learned a lot here asking questions. Sorry to hear you got ripped for the $400 but as someone hear pointed out, you ask to be put on the hardship plan and they transfer you over to another department who handles repayment plans, etc.

I said the place where we get the animals from do not "allow" adoption of this breed but having said that, I read and hear about their "sweetness" all the time on the news and papers and I tend to believe what I hear- you can go for it but I would rather stick with other breeds, thank you. Lots of pits not available through the shelters. Watch animal channel sometimes and you will see when they get pit bulls (I know in Detroit this is the case) they put them down, not able to rehome.
At first I just bought animals straight out
and had them vetted including neuturing or spaying and then we gave the animals to good homes. Without licensing, here you cannot sell animals. As rescuers we can just get any animals from shelters, no cost to us. Here in the south you have an overabundance of animals and so many just put down. I hear up north exact opposite. I had wanted to do something like this, like you, for quite some time and rescued a dog for myself, no where to keep, met the lady I work with now off Craigslist, stated she took in all doggies and kitties and would find them home. I gave a doggie another try at good home and I found a good home for myself! I can hardly wait for our rescuing to expand more.
