winner, winner, chicken dinner !!
I am so beaming with pride over my dear 8yo son. He entered a story for the PBS sponsored Reading Rainbow contest and won second place out of over 250 entries. We'll take that strong second. The story is absolutely adorable, based on true events. One day at school, after a set of pretty bad circumstances, he had to tell a lie to his teacher. He was so tore up about it that he couldn't tell me. He had never told a lie before in his entire life. The story he wrote is called "Owl's First Lie." It is really, really cute, sweet and heartwarming.
So, if anyone wants to view his amazing work, go to www.wgvu.com Then click on clubhouse, then reading rainbow, then winners.... Third Grade, second place. Just beaming with pride here, wanted to share with my friends!!

Not so much for those unemployed, but
maybe for people receiving government assistance in the form of Welfare, Medicaid, etc.
Unemployed Spouse
Is it possible he might be doing something behind your back and acusing you to justify something he has done.
Most of us on here aren't unemployed
But most of us are taxpayers and can see the cost of such a program. I won't even get into the infringements on personal rights. Unemployment is EARNED; the government has no right to try to find loopholes around preventing companies (think the Q here) from paying it out.
Unemployed husband driving me crazy sm
If my chair so much as squeaks, he has to open the bedroom door and see if I am really working. If the phone rings, he picks up the phone in the bedroom to listen in. This is getting way out of hand.
I asked him to stop doing this but he got really mad and said I should have nothing to hide. I don't have anything to hide but he is really really working my last nerve!
I am about ready to flip out.
Checking for drug usage in unemployed
Just seeing where a senator from Florida wanting to have mandatory drug tests for people who want to apply for unemployment money. I think this is a great idea, what about you?
Actually I am happily married
I have experienced this though with my in-laws. Grandmother divorcing grandfather as a matter of fact. She said she did not want my husband, nor I, nor my children talking to him simply because she was tired of him. She now calls him herself. But with such loss in our family grandparent-wise, I just did not think it was fair to the children to cut off yet another superb figure in their life. So, whatever their problem was belonged to them, not Pop-Pop and my children. It is just so often that children suffer in this manner. Family members just yanked from their lives because the parents have a hang-up. It just sounds like more of a jealousy issue on the mother's part in this case. Maybe she has a hard time accepting the fact that her ex has these girlfriends and her only pawn are the children. It happens over and over again. I am not a product of divorce, but my husband is and believe me it is no lie that children suffer even into adulthood for that matter. I just think that we as women need to be above this type of nonsense. Unless there are founded facts that the girlfriend is abusive in some manner, then why shouldn't she be allowed to call? Oh well, mute subject, I guess. I just feel bad for the children. Have a nice day!
Oh, thanks but happily married - but usually I
do not see a guy who makes my head turn such as the case when I was there. I don’t touch but darn, sure did look!!!
Happily married
We've been married just short of 17 year and have two daughters. We were engaged after 3 months. He's a great husband and father and he helps with all the housework including laundry and always has a project in the works. He doesn't like to sit still for a second. Granted there are a few things I might change (LOL), but not many.
Does anyone have a fav winner?
I hated Richard Hatch (this has nothing to do with his sexuality) and was shocked when he won. Couldn't stand Rob and Amber and was so glad when they lost on the Amazing Race. I have only watched on and off this year, but from last years shows I really liked James. I was very suprised about what Eric did last night. Very gullible!
That's a $10,000 winner if ever I saw one! - nm

Happily married for over 20 years.

My mom is 8 hours away - but they happily stay with her (sm)
When I go visit my family, my kids stay with my mother while I go and visit other friends, etc. The difference might be that they have cousins there to play with and my mother jokes and plays with them and is affectionate. In-laws are not that way. No kids around my in-laws. I really don't know exactly why they think it is so horrible. I have asked them. They just say that they are bored, grandma is strict, she won't make any adaptations to things she cooks and makes them eat whatever she makes, she takes them to all-adult functions and makes them sit through things. They also have a farm and sometimes make the kids work very hard digging potatoes or whatever they are doing at the time.
Happily married. Will stay together. I tell DH I cant

Happily divorced 11 years..and still single!
Use your head first. You don't have to settle for the least worst of the two...there are other fish in the sea. :-) I found my standards were WAY too low when I married my ex-hubby. Now they are high and I'm not going to settle for less than I deserve.
For those of you happily married, where did you meet your spouse? sm
Just a curious question. I am single and I am thinking if I stay in church, that might be the best place to meet a good man these days when one finally comes around. It really gets me that some people meet their spouses in a bar and then wonder how they married an alcoholic, lol!
LOTTERY WIN
I know a guy who won the TX lottery several weeks ago, along with some othe co-workers - it was 12 million but after it is split up - they should each get about $200,000 - give or take (since he hasn't filed income tax in over 5 years - he may not get that much - as he filed this year - so it is a red flag) - but the whole thing is being held up because one of the men will not give his social security number to the lottery commission - i don't know what his reason is - but this is keeping all the others from their winnings. I guess it pays to know who you are doing business with - even if it is combining funds to buy lottery tickets.
Yep, David A has to be the winner. He was last night.
I like David C also, but he just sounded like he was struggling. Just did not seem like he wants to win.
Who do you want to win? Winner announced tonight!! SM
There is no way I could make that decision. This season has just been amazing. I must say that Joshua is outstanding and jumps higher than I can believe. They are all so wonderful.
That's a Pulitzer Prize winner if I ever saw one.... sm
Prayers for all the folks in California who have lost homes or had to evacuate and didn't know if they had a home to come back to.
Winner and runner up for DWTS nm

Sure, let them play the lottery..
Then, I think they should have to compensate their victims for the rest of their lives for all the heck they went through and will go through. If they don't want to do that then they shouldnt be allowed to play the lottery. They are criminals.
So if I say I'll never win the lottery
does that mean I'll win!!!??!!!
I'll NEVER win the lottery!
Nope, thank God! Happily married for 24+ and haven't had to bail kids out...yet..:) nm

Two $1 lottery tickets! :) And an agreement

DH played the lottery, Pick 4, hit it
straight. What got me was he only played 50 cents, but he still won 2500. I would've played at least a dollar!! What was funny was that he had a job number and a work number that were the same number. He said that never happened in 30 years of working. Told him he had to play those four numbers for a week. Three days later, my "cheap" husband hit! I still tease him about it! and still kicking myself that I didn't play it too!! You just never know :)
Final place, unless we win the lottery! (nm)

On the occasions when I but a lottery ticket I say a
prayer that God will allow me to some day have the money to do the work I want to do with animals. They are the dearest things to my heart, each one of them. God Bless all who contribute and do what they can!!! Keep dreaming . . maybe one day.
Here is another unlikey winner. A mobile phone salesman. sm

Couple wins 270 million lottery. sm
South Georgia couple wins big. He only bought 2 tickets, spend $2.00 and won 270 million. They interviewed him on TV - they were living in a mobile home. So happy for them. Nice to see someone that humble and down to earth win.
Winning lottery, he took wrong move
First of all you should have things in place before letting everyone in town you have won that much money. You need legal advice, places to invest and really good help rather than letting people know. He has children and grandchildren, need to think security also not only for his family but he and his wife as well. If I won that much money I would definitely have lots of good plans in place before claiming.
Quit Smoking and Don't Play The Lottery!!!

After I got engarged, I played my wedding date on a lottery
and won over $400.00 and then bought a few scratch offs with the winnings and won another $50.00! I also won $500+ at a slot machine with my last 20.00 cash as I was leaving a casino after staying the weekend :) However, this was all over ten years ago and I haven't won anything since :( I AM DUE!

We play bingo and give out mystery gifts to the winner. Very simple..
Every person who attends the party, bring 1 gift..they are all put under a little table tree and when someone wins a round of bingo, they select gift from under the tree. It can be a lot of fun if you get fun qwirky gifts. We all have a laugh at some of the gifts.
