350 degrees - 25 minutes per pound SM

Put a rack in the bottom of the pan so the meat is not touching the liquid. Put about a cup or so of water in the bottom of the pain with some cut up onions and a little salt and pepper. Place the roast on the rack, fat side up. No need to cover the roast if you want a good crusty layer of fat on the meat. This also keeps the meat moist.

Years ago, when I had a dog, I got her from the pound - sm
at 2-1/2 years of age, and she never even needed ANY training... she was so smart, I swear she already knew English. I could take her absolutely anywhere, too - hiking, driving, horseback-riding in the hills, to art shows downtown, in high-rise building elevators, to the beach, etc.
I can see why some people want papered animals, if they're looking for specific characteristics in a breed. But then, if you're going to bother to spend money for a pedigree, it might as well be a good one from a reputable breeder, where you're less likely to end up with a sick animal, genetic defects, etc. What I really DON'T get is the atrocious prices some people are charging for 'labradoodles', 'puggles', 'chi-weenies', etc. ??? That is SO strange.
I also don't get people who give up a pet just because they're 'moving' or 'having a baby'. What lame excuses to dump an animal they've grown tired of.
My cats are both rescues, too. As much as I dearly love kittens, since I spend so much time working, and it's impossible to properly kitten-proof my cluttered apartment, and especially since adult cats have a harder time getting adopted, that's the best choice for me. I even recently had success adopting a second, older adult cat after I'd had my younger one for almost a year. After a day or two of hissing, they now like each other, and even play a bit. Most importantly, they have company in each other when I'm not home.
Another thing I find apalling is the way dogs & cats are treated in Asia, but that's a whole 'nother story! With their horrible treatment of animals, over-fishing of the ocean, finning of sharks, whaling, killing endangered species for their 'medicines', exporting poisonous pet food, and rampant overpopulation, there doesn't seem to be much good to say about that part of the world these days....
Bet it had a pound of butter too;-)
I actually love the lady. What a hoot. Have to take my break from the ole computer during her show.
And, I do not believe that 200 pound story
She is 5ƌ" and I think she has gained and weighs more than 200 she says she weighs.
All 3 of our cats and our 120-pound dog sleep with us in the bed
I couldn't imagine having it any other way. Our 3 cats and dog our like our kids. In fact, one of my cats is sleeping in my lap right now.
I buy the Walmart roast, I think it's 2.98 a pound. sm
I believe it said round roast on the sticker-the hunks I buy are around 10.00 apiece with absolutely no fat. My husband loves them. I put it in the oven frozen and cooked it all afternoon on low. Threw two small cans of V8 juice, a whole onion, some garlic and pepper. I thickened the juice with flour a little Gravy Master to darken the juice so it wouldn't be red and put in my potatoes, turned the oven up to 350 and everything was done and piping hot for hubby at 4:30. I had 1 slice, he ate the rest. Now, is that fair? LOL.
The "rag man" paid by the pound sm
My mom used to threaten to "sell us" to the rag man and when she was really mad, she would tell us she was "putting us in a 'home'." Yes, there were a lot of "homes" for unwanted kids then and there was also a "poor house." Oh gosh, I feel so old! And kids today think they have it bad when they can't play video games for the day!
Last week, bananas were on sale for 39 cents per pound.

But 275-pound footbal players are taller than 5 feet, therefore not so wide. nm
x
Just checked my receipt from Sunday...0.69/pound. I didn't even notice.
I honestly don't know what is normal for bananas here (FL). I keep track of other items, but not bananas. You've got me curious now, though.
AA degrees
AA, BA are worthless today unless they are in a specialized field. Technical certificates are the way to go now. Companies are looking for skills not paper that says you took 2 or 4 years of college. I make more money than any of my friends who have AA or BA degrees..
It's 23 degrees here
and we're having our first major blizzard. Just got home driving in it. No fun. Did I mention I hate snow?! Inside it's a nice toasty 68. Just watching The Ghost Whisperer and ready for a very early night.
It is 11 degrees here in

Hasn't rained in the past 3 days, frogs were singing some' fierce last night, so I know storms will be here at some point today!
It was over 90 degrees at 9:30 am in South Florida.

I have a balmy 17 degrees at noon in PA
It's snowing...again. The kids missed another day of school. One of the only drawbacks of working at home. Can't call the boss and say I'm snowed in! But, yes, definitely looking forward to spring. I was ready for spring the day after Christmas!
7 degrees this morning on my way to school!
Our kids were dismissed early last Thursday because of afternoon snow showers (better to be safe than sorry). They also decided before sending them home on Thursday to close on Friday due to expected cold temperatures. Temps were the same as today, yet we go to school today. I don't get it. We were off Monday for an in-service day, but they always schedule that on King day. So why be off Friday but not today? I'm guessing some higher-ups wanted a 4-1/2-day weekend.
Back in my day (I'm 34), we went to school unless it snowed 2 feet or we got an ice storm. We never got off because it was "too cold". I asked the school secretary about this, who's close to my age, and she agreed about "our day" and said she thinks it has to do with so many parents letting their kids stand at the bus stops for 1/2 hour or more because they don't want to get dressed and drive them to the bus stop and not dressing the kids properly. She said you wouldn't believe the number of kids she sees at school dressed in shorts, etc, in the middle of winter. We live in the Northeast, so it's not like we expect it to be warm this time of year.
I just will never understand some parents. I drive my kids to school every day even though they're on the bus route. The busses are just too cold in the morning and they'd have to get up 1/2 hour earlier and we already get up at 7:15 to be at school by 8. I let them ride the bus home in the afternoon because the buses are warmed up 1/2 hour from picking up the high schoolers first and my kids are only on the bus for 15 minutes. I also make sure my kids have hat, gloves and scarves when it's cold. They don't always wear 'em, but they're in their backpacks if they need them. Why don't some parents care?
Sorry -- off my soapbox. This was just s'posed to be about the weather. It's cold here -- BRRRRR
I only have 1 question - if you hold these degrees
what are you doing on this forum? Why are you not putting your masterful degrees to a better position that would be more than the lowly MT
Tea party, ratcheted up a few degrees. :)

On 60 minutes I think it was
they did a story on diamonds once and had some identifying mark or word etched on a diamond they were using. You could only see it with a microscope I think, or maybe a jeweler's loop, but interestingly the jewelers who were switching the diamonds out were not aware of the mark until it was shown to them.
3 minutes? LOL!! (nm)

I saw that a few minutes ago...
isn't that just awful.
80 minutes
With medical transcription, I have found that 1 minute is approximately 10-12 lines on a 65 cpl basis.
Just typed this a few minutes ago...

Man upset with his supervisor and shooted him. LOL--poor grammer for the whole world to see right on national TV. What is this world coming to?

I use a TracFone. I pay only for the minutes I use. sm
I have a landline and DSL that costs me $70 a month. I need the landline for my computer. I am not too trusting of the Skype, Vonage, etc. You lose your power, you lose your phone.
That said, I use TracFone. It is probably one of the first ones made as I can't take pics, or 2-way, or do any of the fancy stuff. However, I have never had it let me down by not having any coverage and the calls are always clear as a bell. I would get another cell plan with more bells and whistles, but I just can't see being tied to a 2 year contract with hefty penalties for early termination.
TracFone also has some awesome deals on minutes, phones with lots of features, etc. The nice thing about a TracFone is that if you run out of minutes, you don't lose your phone number. And they also have coupon codes you can use to get extra minutes, or an extra phone, etc.

I caught about the last 15 or 20 minutes. Can't hardly
wait until next week. Maybe House and Cuddy will finally get together.
I have an elliptical machine, 30+ minutes a day...
on that and I have a Pilates machine, try at least 3 times a week on that for 45 minutes.
The last 15 minutes of Grey's Anatomy??
I missed the last 15 minutes of Grey's Anatomy last night and thought they would rerun it tonight like they usually do, but it wasn't on. So, will someone please let me know what happened? I turned to it to see Christina freaking out and Meredith cutting her wedding dress off of her, but I have no idea why this was happening! What happened to the wedding?? Thanks in advance!
Lysine--works within minutes (nm)
I just saw a few minutes of her. It was such a struggle just to talk.

I live 45 minutes from Pittsburgh!
too bad we were not closer for a bike ride! I was just thinking I need to get acquainted with people that love biking and would love to stop for lunch and a cappuccino at a coffee shop on a chilly day! I live across from a great bike trail at a metropark and rode today for 1 hour. I plan on longer rides this weekend. it sure does beat sitting at a computer all day.
That is so sad...it actually happened about 15 minutes from my house...
so sad....
Literally within 5 minutes of my post
the vet called. He knows this dog very very well. He feels that she is truely missing her mom and said that since she won't eat dog food and I am just going to have to give her people food. He said basically just set another place at the table. He gave me some suggestions on what to feed her and didn't want her just trying to exist on "snacks". We talked at lenght about her blood sugar and gave me his home number. He really is a wonderful vet, we take our animals to him so he is very familar with our family. I feel better now that I have talked to him. Thanks for the replies.
About 10 minutes away for me....I was a block away last night.
