How about an ipod nano or a digital camera? I have a few kids who turned 16 already - my son wanted hockey equipment - jewelry for the first girl who turned 16 and the third wanted an ipod.

How about putting together a scrapbook all about her life? I know you don't have much time but they have some wonderful scrapbook materials out now to make it easy and beautiful. If she's like my daughter, they love having pictures of their friends/activities/life/families, etc. in a book that is all about them that she can look back on in years to come.
I will NEVER forget what I got for my 16th...
My mother wrapped a box, and inside was a telephone. I was a little confused, as this was WELL before the days of cell phones. It was my own phone line for my room. Now in the day and age of kids having cell phones, that isn't probably a wonderful idea, but it's certainly cheaper than a cell phone, you have more control over it, she can't lose it... And if your DD doesn't have a cell phone of her own, it's still a pretty durn cool present.
But what do I know? I haven't been cool since about 1989...
My daughter's 16th. She said she was sick of things, and wanted sm
"experiences". I took her and 4 friends out to lunch. Bought them concert tix for one of their favorite groups. She was interested in film, and I gave her a gift certificate I printed up on the computer for a film festival coming up in the largest big city nearby, plus a ton of upscale film production mags. Then I took three of them down to buy tix for the films they wanted to see. We spent 2 nights in a great hotel and saw some great films. An experience to remember. That was in 1998. She graduated from NYC film school in 2005.

really hasn't given me any ideas. She does not want a class ring now (she is a sophomore this year). She does not like her birthstone but does like pearls and emeralds but has not really given me a straight answer as to whether she would prefer a ring, earrings or a necklace. She plays a lot of sports so I am not sure she will be able to keep track of nice jewelry either and I really don't want to spend good $$ if she might lose it. I only have a week left and wanted to get her something special because it is her 16th but just can't come up with anything nor can I get her to give me a good idea. Thanks.
