You both are wasting your time (sm)
To first poster, there is no way he will go unless he gets good and scared, or hate to say it, but passes out or something. The poster about the dentist, if it were my DH and I made the appt, he wouldn't care, he still wouldn't go, nor would he cancel the appt. I made an appt once for him to have a "growth" removed from his face, cause we had argued about it for months, and he told me he wasn't going, and he wasn't. So I canceled it, cause I didn't want to put the doctor out. I have no idea why they are so pig-headed. I used to get so upset - but it was a waste of time. The only way he finally ended up at the dentist was because his last 2 front teeth broke off and it was obvious, so then he went. I know how you feel.
I'm not really wasting time during the hours
that I am awake - it's just that right now I am having to work so many hours, almost all fun is squeezed out of my life. If I could sleep 4 hours a night, I could:
- always have the laundry caught up.
- always have my house clean.
- cook supper each and every night.
- keep my flowers weeded and watered.
- read at least a half an hour a day.
- spend time in devotions and meditation and prayer.
- exercise.
If I could accomplish these things throughout the week, then I could have each and every weekend FREE! I feel like I could gain my life back if I could somehow figure out this sleep thing.
Thanks everybody for your input.
I get it but you are wasting your breath on them...
xx
I have a Tracfone and don't like wasting my minutes....
I have one of the original TracFones and my fingers are too fat to text. The keys are too close together, so I don't bother with texting. LOL.
That would be why I would need a full keyboard if I were to ever get a lap top. LOL.
yeah well it's only wasting money when you lose
a deal when you could win millions. I can give up a few cups of coffee or something else rather than my lottery tickets!!
yep, regret marriage. been in it way too long to be unhappy and wasting life. nm

Statement
First of all, it appears that she has had this situation occur in the past. I am not generally a negative person, but in this case, I may make an exception. Perhaps letting her know that we expect our children to learn from their mistakes and accept accountability for their actions would be a start. If this does not work, perhaps stating that she must be a very blissful person, because ignorance is bliss, would make her take a long, hard look.
the statement
The statement that healthy people are dying seems absolutely counterintuitive. People insinuating that sick people with weakened immune systems survive over people with strong immune systems that overreact to the virus flies in the face of logic. The weak survive over the strong? Maybe better advice like if you are getting worse after 3 days, go to the doctor to make sure you don't have a secondary pneumonia infection is better.
In my extended family alone, in my family tree, there are all kinds of people who died from pneumonia at all ages, seemingly random acts of God. It is the pneumonia, which is treatable with antibiotics, that kills people with influenza, and that is actually logical and time proven.
WHAT? Ridiculous statement.....sm
I so don't agree with you - Had one, got rid of him, don't want another - I want men in my life, not in my house full-time! No regrets here, happy, independent, do for myself and my kids and my friends and family without a *DH* to drain on me any longer! Happy Happy!
yet again ANOTHER RIDICULOUS STATEMENT
It is not a ridiculous statement....
Statistics say roughly 5% of rapes result in pregnancy...that is about 1 in 20. So, the statement that very few rapes result in pregnancy is true. Look it up.
What a ridiculous statement that is.
Very helpful.
I gave my statement sm
just 20 minutes ago and they are going after the owners. An autopsy and toxicology were both requested. The police and the rescue people said there was no reason this should have happened and they will make sure that family never owns another dog. Thank goodness. I feel better now. They are getting much tougher in our area regarding animal abuse, fining and sending people to jail. That poor dog's internal body temperature was 107. Definite heat stroke. Makes me sick.
FOR. I don't see them as a religious statement - sm
but rather, a statement of love for the person who died there, an expression of sadness that they were lost, and a little reminder to everyone else driving past it to back off on the throttle a little bit.
I so agree with your last statement!
NM
Is this statement true?
I was flipping radio channels last night and heard a woman say she absolutely positively had to send her children to private school; she had no other recourse because the school system in which she lived was totally horrid. She was talking about how high priced everything is and she was afraid her husband would lose his job, but even if that happened, she'd still need to send the kiddos to private school.
I know there are some bad public school systems around, but couldn't you transfer to a better public school system without physically moving?
Just wondering about this statement.
"It is the one sin the Bible says cannot be forgiven completely. There is a reason for that. "
I thought blaspheming the Holy Spirit was the unforgivable sin.
I do not like 1 statement which annuls
a lot, namely
e) Raise your children without both parents being
in the home
???
This is rather hypocritical, selfish, unthankful, insensitive, God will not bless you for that. I can only wonder.
oh I agree with your statement about family...LOL...
No, I don't want *ANY* family just *dropping by* unannounced.......*LOL* -
Friends yeah, neighbors yeah
family....no thank you *rofl*
oh and I do love my family.........it's just that *family* can be and usually are so judgmental...........we don't get to *choose* our families.....but we do our friends *S*
but then I rolled off the family tree of nuts.......*l*
IMO, he has served his purpose according to your own statement .
.."I believe my brother brought him into my life for a reason. Since he has been in my life, it has been the best year ever and I have evolved into a better person.".....
You say you are a better purpose and maybe that was what he was supposed to do and that is all?
I say back off and if someday he is single and wants to start something up, then (if you are available) go for it! I think Dr.Phil would also tell you this, and any preacher or religious, or educated counselor/psych, etc.
Powerful statement, WWTx...
Mom, you don't want your daughter looking back in 15-20 years and wondering why her mom didn't protect her. Deep down she is looking for boundaries. Hang in there through this rough patch.
What a sad statement, pushing the consequences
nm
and I totally concur with your statement!
You gave him life and the means to make it as far in this world to be 36 years old. You nor your husband owe him squat. You can believe one thing, and I have told both of my children (ages 36 and 34) - that the they would not and could not make the sacrifices that I made for them being a single mom and raising them (without the benefit of assistance). I love my kids but I don't take any crap from them, grown or otherwise. I love them, listen to them, give them any advice they ask for but WHATEVER decisions they make are ones that they must deal with. Period.
Amen to that statement sister!!
I have never heard of anyone killing people on the highways just from being stoned!!
Now, don't be a bogart!!
I totally understand the statement
of she was a stay at home mom. This profession never started out to be a stay at home job, in fact after all my years which are almost 40 now, I have only worked from home now for the past 7 and not sent home because I wanted to, but because the hospital decided they could use the room where the MT people were. Many, many postings I have seen have to deal with the fact of taking the job in order to stay home with the kids, common theme here and if that is what women hoped for, then that is the way they are looked at. I know just taking the time to feed my cats with them meowing underneath, I would hate to think of having to feed and tend to small children, babies or the like. Something will suffer, the kids or the job? I really do not believe anyone who says they can work around babies, kids to do this job, not and make a decent living.
John Assaraf's nauseating statement about that
He was on Larry King promoting the theory that you wish everything into your life.
Larry King asked this man if Jessica Lunsford wished her torture and murder into her life, if this is his theory.
The man paused a moment and then said, "Yes."
Made me sick.
I understand dwelling on the positive aspects of your life and they become more apparent to you. However, to think you simply "wish" something into existence is the biggest pile of manure for people to fall for.
Especially to say that every baby, child, teenager, woman, man ever abused, tortured, murdered WISHED THIS ON THEMSELVES.
Ludicrous.
I am surprised at the statement, "every facet"
of her life. Have 2 kids, both grown, glad they are out on their own, not interested in "every facet" because they are grown. I enjoy my time now. I am glad my children know how to live on their own and I surely do not live through them. Sounds like you need more interests in your life if you are going to fall apart when she leaves for college.
The family has released a statement saying she died.
So sad.
Two statement I find wrong and disagree with you on
1. With chemo he has a 90% to 95% chance of living a long and productive life. That's just outright not true. Who said that, the chemo company providing the drug? The doctor working for the chemo company to ensure they get their money? The government? Holistic medicine will give him a better chance of living than any chemicals that will destroy his immune system among other things.
Second, your statement of his mother murdering her son is wrong. Have you not been following the story. She is trying to get an alternative health cure so he can live a long and productive live. Not sentence him to death under killer chemo. Sorry if you don't like to hear that but it's a fact - chemo kills.
It's not just a major stress and strain on the body - it kills off the good cells with the bad. It weakens the immune system. It's toxic and poisons your body. I found this article to be interesting.
http://www.naturalnews.com/012727.html
Saying "it's a major stress on the body" is like saying just a couple of your hairs will fall out during the treatment.
This lady wants her son to live. He's only 13 years old. She wants to watch him grow up, go to college, marry, have kids, and lead a productive life. She loves her son unconditionally and is doing whatever is in her will to find him a better treatment rather than one that will kill him. Why would anyone want to allow government to kill her son when there could be an alternative treatment that would save his life and he could lead a healthy and productive life.
Mainly though why would anyone want the government telling them what they can and cannot do as far as how they treat their own family health and well being.
Fair enough...
I was just wondering. Have a great day.
Seems fair to me.
I'll perform it if no MD will.
maybe not fair
I think the problem comes from Christians being so sure we are right, we want to try to save the non believers. . . maybe we should just let everyone worry about themselves. . . it is a difficult subject. . I'm sure non believers are just as sure they are right. .
And I thank you for being fair.
x
Fair is fair, I mean.
Be fair sm
I learned in journalism class that a reporter must be fair. So would you say the same for Pepsi?
Just kidding - will have to look further into this. Water is very good for you. Don't get enough of it myself, although I do like a lot of tea, so I guess that makes up for the water consumption per day. Now if I could only drink the tea without sugar - that would be healthy. Try honey but kind of messy, usually give up on it, always in a hurry.
Fair enough...
There are reduced rates for low income families and other programs to feed the needy kids. If parents want their kids to eat, they should pay for it.
Is this fair or right?
On another board I frequent there is a discussion going on and I'd love to hear your take on it. It's about a possible law to have welfare recipients take urine tests (for drugs use) in order to receive payments.
You like? You hate? Why?
I am so sorry. It's just not fair! nm

Love the NYS Fair
I live about 15 minutes away and we go every year. This year we're going to the AI concert. It's an annual tradition for us since a few days after the fair ends school starts.
Going to the fair and also going fishing.
p
It's not really a fair comparison - that may be what she said to you (sm)
but although it may not be true about you it doesn't mean it isn't true about her. I am sorry she said that to you and I would never say any of that to my MIL or about her other than on here on an anonymous board. But thanks for your opinion.
OK, to be fair. I know if you adopt one SM
you must keep it in the house. That's one of the rules for adoption.
When thinking about it (I'm talking about racing dogs now), they are trained to run after a rabbit(?), so, yes, they probably MIGHT run after creatures, should get out.
It's just the thought of those poor dogs put to death because they are of no use to their owners, is horrifying to me.
No, I'm not a member of PETA. LOL!
That is not a fair resonse. I do all the ....sm
things a responsible owner should do. I keep my dog either in my house or in a fenced in yard. I have him vaccinated as I should. He is fed, bathed, and treated as he should be. I do everything I am supposed to. How can I not be a responsible owner? Just because of his breed. I don't think so. My dog has never been used to fight and will never be used to fight. If you don't own one and raise them properly you will never know the potential they have to be a loving dog. Personally a lot of people don't even know mine is a pit bull. He is either mistaken for a boxer lots of times or an american bulldog. Sometimes I am tempted to not correct them.
fair warning!!!! :)
The Wii is a blast! We bought one last year. Last week I bought Dance Dance Revolution 2 for it. It is extremely hard even on beginner! It will literally wear you out and if you are as out of shape as I am, plan on being very sore! LOL I really do like the Wii and plan on getting the fit later this summer. For us, it's something the entire family loves, except the b/f refuses to do the Dance Dance Revolution. LOL
Congrats on your quitting smoking! We are starting that as well. My b/f just started the Nicoderm patch. If he doesn't have too many side effects from it and it seems to work okay, I'm going to start it in a few weeks. I'm currently just cutting back right now. Cigarettes are getting so darn expensive. Marlboro are over $5 a pack and the fed tax increase of $0.62 starts April 1st. Illinois is trying to pass $1 tax on top of that. Pretty soon it's gonna be $7 for a pack of cigarettes. We've had enough.
Sorry to ramble! :)
Good luck to everyone quitting!
Doesn't seem fair.
I have 2 with balances on them. However, I have not used them in a while and have been paying at least minimum and more when I can on time. I don't know what we are going to do. Our mortgage or car payments are all paid up so we dont' have to worry about that but if this happens we may have to put a lein on our house and vehicles. Which brings me to another OMG. I don't know if our vehicles are going to be worth anything since now they are really pushing Hybrids. I don't know if they are going to make it a law or not, but if they do, it is another scary thing. How are we going to afford car payments. How is my mom, my MIL and my dad going to afford car payments like that when they only bring in $800 to$900 a month on their SS if even that.
I do have a bicycle, which i do plan on ridding more often but dang it hurts my legs and my tail to ride it.
ITs not fair, but it does negatively sm
affect your credit rating. Idon't get it. But if you listen to Suze Orman that is one of her big things she is always saying, don't close your accounts!
Fair enough! You mind your own uterus...
but if you don't mind it well and find yourself pregnant, you should have to pay for yoru abortion yourself. The government (and my tax dollars) should NOT fund abortion. I disagree with the procedure on moral grounds, so why should I fund it if you (or someone else) can't, as you put it, take care of their uterus?? Tell you what! You stay OUT of MY pocket and I will stay OUT of YOUR uterus!! Howzat??
That is an extremely fair pay and I would expect
them to do a great job for that. I have had the same problem with them starting out good and then having to go behind them like you said. I would first start out clearly stating what you want done and that you expect a good job consistently, even 6 months down the line. That is what I've been telling everyone I've talked to is that I need a consistent job each time.
Thanks for the info! Sounds fair to me. (nm)
New York State Fair
My husband and I went once twenty one years ago, before we were married, and then just last year finally took our nearly-grown kids after getting tickets to see James Taylor there. We had a ball and plan to do it again this year - every year at Labor Day. It's about a 2-1/2 hour drive for us, and well worth the effort, though I think we're going to get a hotel room instead of making it all in one day this time.
Let me guess, the 15 yo says, "It's not fair!"
I can hear it now, because I have three teenagers and I've been working with teens for years. I wish I had a nickel for every time I've heard a drawn out exclamation, "It's not faaaiiiirrr."
My opinion: The 15 yo doesn't need more clothes, the 8 yo does need the long sleeved shirts. Therefore, it IS fair to spend money on one and not the other. It wouldn't be fair if the older child received something he/she does not need simply because needed items are being bought for the younger child.
Kids are very poor judges of fairness when it comes to getting "stuff" that they want. They have a hard time discerning between what they want and what they need, and a good many of them have no real appreciation for how much effort parents put into earning money and providing for their children. The kids just want, want, and want.
You are the parent, you are the judge and jury when it comes to decided what they need and what your budget can handle. Here's an opportunity to really teach fairness.
And if the kid continues to whine about it, turn your back and walk away. It takes two to argue. Give your reasons for your decision ONCE and walk away. Don't be manipulated, or your child will learn to be a manipulator.
Now, if the 15 year old wants to go and earn money OUTSIDE of the house, or do some out-of-the-ordinary chore that you are willing to pay for, say clean the garage. That's another good lesson. Work, earn, achieve. But I don't pay out cash for regular everyday stuff that has to be done simply because we all live together. When you do that, then it's hard to get them to do regular chores if a child doesn't need money.
Hey, invite me to give an opinion, and that's just what I do!
