I'd work in Oregon with a real snowdog team.

I hear you can get to snow 10 months out of the year, and they have an outfit that takes tourists out with sled teams. And they let people bring their own dogs and hitch them up and do a little pulling with an experienced team. How fun would that be.

LEA, S-team, M-team can be virtually translated to different states...
the LEA is your local education area (school district) and a universal term. The M-team is "multidisciplinary team" consisting of various teachers, parent, and minimum of the school psychologist. That's what we had (gifted being considered special ed, too, but not funded in all states). S-team is a "specialist focused team" consisting of the M-team and at least 1 specialist in the disability. This should be what you have. The rules surrounding an IEP are federal. Individual states can only add to who qualifies for one, and the LEA just has to follow the rules.
You can request a new IEP meeting at any time. Do it in writing, setting forth (including documentation if you have any) specifics of the issues that have been apparent since the last plan was put in place. Request that the new IEP meeting include an autism (should also include Asperger's, though I'm not well-versed on the condition) specialist furnished by the LEA if your team does not already include one. They are required to convene the meeting within 30 days of your written request. Once the plan is signed, it is considered an agreement and cannot be challenged, so you can't challenge the one he's on now. That's why you want a new IEP meeting to formulate a new plan. If you get no relief from the new plan, DON'T SIGN IT. In the signature line, write "DO NOT AGREE". Find a specialist or psychologist in your area (this will be your expense) to support your position, and file the appropriate paperwork. If they refuse to convene the IEP meeting, contact your special ed liason at the state board of education. They should help you navigate the paperwork further from there because the paper trail will flow differently from state to state.
a team
My husband and I are a team. Could we live without eachother, yes. Would we want to, no. Some find it, some don't. I happened to feel very blessed to have the family that I do.
DISCLAIMER! this is about ME, my life, my opinion, and how I feel! Everytime I say something on this board, ofcourse someone is offended and feels the need to insult me. Please don't. :) Thank you.
Are we a team or are we competitors
Two days ago our supervisor came into our office because Dr. Neuro had dictated a report. It was obviously an EEG. She did not know what template it went on. Well, co-worker (super MT) just jumps up and said “I don’t know, you have to call home MT 1 and home MT 2 because they do cardio” Well mind you, super MT has only been there a year. I have been their 8 years and I have done ever single report that hospital offers including cardio, especially cardio because that is the first thing that pops into my Q. (Doc dictate EGGs under cardio, it is up to us to put it in the template). I found that insulting. Then yesterday one of our male MTs needed help deciphering what a doc said. Well super MT jumps tall cubicles to help so I just kept on typing. She could not understand it either so she gets someone else who is not even an MT to listen. It is petty but I find it insulting. I don’t do her that a way.
I am more of an introvert. Super MT has a lot of friends that come in our office just basically gossip about the other people who work next door. I try to tune them out because I only have 8 hours to get my lines in because I have to be out by 4:30 to pick up my two children. I cannot stay late like they do. I used to go to lunch with super MT and her buds but stopped lately because I joined a gym and I go work out with another girl who happens to be on the top of their gossip list. They don’t approve of her lifestyle, which it is questionable but it is her business. She is a pleasant person to work out with we just happen to have a common interest in exercising. All they wanted to talk about at lunch is talk about some TV show I have no clue what it is because I don’t have time to watch TV. I have 2 small children and when I get home I have to hit the ground running with supper, dishes, grocery store. I also have also turned down their outside parties, 1 because I could not find a babysitter (alcohol is involved at their parties) and the last one was because I was running on fumes until payday and a $20 meal just for me was way out of budget.
I have explained most of the above to her about babysitting, interest in loosing weight, tight budgets and needing to get my line count up which is why I don’t talk as much and go to my introverted ways (they called me an introvert and super MT is an extrovert), not that I don’t watch TV and could care less what the people next door are doing and really could care less what my workout buddy is doing in her spare time. Then again I may have told them that. Should I be bending over backwards to be in their crowd? I didn't know being their best friend was part of my job description. I don’t think they are all as great as they think they are but I don’t see why we cannot at least respect each other as professionals.

Drinks for the team
I brought drinks and snacks for the team and my son got his drink and snack, as well. It is not my fault that you MTs do not understand what is natural and insist on the status quo. My kids are better off for the choices that I made
I would contact everyone on the IEP team (sm)
and let them know you are not being informed as you should be. Also, if they cannot handle it at your school, then he could be transferred to another school (at his current school's expense; they would also have to provide transporation). You do have a lot of rights here, and this is federally mandated, not state. Good luck.

I worked for a hospital where the major baseball team
here in town used. I had access to all patient information including the telephone numbers and addresses. My daughter, at that time teenager, begged me for the address of a certain big time player who went on to marry Hallie B but no, no- was not gonna put my job on the line. I knew DD could easily turn into your stalker girl!
$2.65/gal here in Oregon...sm
DH and I drive cross country every year to Philly and for the past 3 years Oregon has been the highest place each time. Wyoming and Kansas have always been the best prices. We are not allowed to pump our own gas here, which believe it or not I miss doing! I can do it a lot faster than some of the people who work at some of our stations!
Gas here in Oregon is...
$3.25 to $3.35 and has been for several weeks; we have been well over $3 for some time now. I am driving cross country to Philly next week and will look forward to paying (hopefully) a bit less. I live in the country, 25 miles from town, my husband drives to work every day 66 miles round trip. Not buying gas for one day may sound like something to do, but just think how much more people will buy on the 16th of the month. The fact is, if you have the $$$ and want to drive you will. I have an SUV, will take it cross country, and will pay what I have to. We have taken this trip every year for 4 years (twice in one year in 2005) and we have never seen a decrease in RVs, trucks, or traffic ever. We are a country obsessed with cars and driving. City dwellers with good public transporation are lucky, but those of us who live rurally make the trade off of paying more each time we go to town.
Yup, that was right here in Oregon
in fact it was the sister hospital of the hospital I worked in for 3 years. They had to call 911 because there was no doctor in the hospital. I don't think the surgeon was even there- they paged him and he told them to call 911.
The hospital was not leqally required to have a doctor on site 24/7 (can't remember the reason why) but they should not have done her surgery there because of that fact due to her age and the risks. They just didn't want to lose the money. They are history now, thank God.
FOG IN OREGON
Here in Portland, I can leave here and no fog and two miles away be fogged in so be care of what you say. And it can be a light in one place and heavy in another causing a delay -- give her a break. The counselor was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. I do not believe in pampering the children but they are children and must be handled as such. These type of people should not be in these positions, they like the power over the kids and act like a warden in a prison.
Here in Oregon $3.48 and above...
and it has been high for quite a long time. My Explorer takes about $65 to fill, which is not too bad, and my husband's commuter Subaru fills up at about $35, also pretty reasonable. I was in line behind a Suburban the other day and it topped out at over $90. We are driving cross country in 3 weeks; good thing we have cash saved up for the gas bill we will get in June!
Oregon here
Man is it frustrating. I also have caller ID so I don't pick up, but what they do is this. They call and use an 887 number. I don't pick up and within 2 or 3 minutes later they call back with the "private name, private number", I don't pick up and maybe 5 minutes later they call back with a 800 number. Like I say, I don't pick up but it is very frustrating. Especially when you do pick up and nobody is there. I've picked up once or twice so I can tell them off but nobody is on the other line.
I live in Oregon
This happens so often out here in Oregon. People go unprepared, onto roads that they do not know, no extra food, water, etc. There were signs posted all over the road that they took -- "road closed by snow" Bad road, etc. But they ignored the signs and kept going. They even moved rocks off of the road and kept on going. With kids in the car, they should have turned around. I really feel bad for them and my heart goes out to the mother but they had warnings all along the road and just ignored them. That is what is going to live with her forever. And to start out at 8 o'clock to go over mountain passes on roads you don't know -- just does not make sense to me. That is one of the worst roads in Oregon and really is not a road just a logging road mainly. My prayers are with them. Again, I don't even head out from Portland in the winter without water, flares, shovel, blankets, food, etc. if I am even going on the Interstate down south to visit friends about 3 hours away because you never know what will happen.
Oregon man says he's pregnant
Thomas Beatie, who used to be a woman, appeared in the most recent issue of The Advocate, a magazine for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender readers, Portland, Ore., television station KPTV reported.
Beatie wrote the article, which includes a picture of him while he was 22 weeks pregnant. According to the story, he went through a sex change, but decided only to have chest reconstruction and testosterone therapy.
Beatie was able to keep the reproductive organs he was born with. The article said he stopped getting the injections and was able to get pregnant.
Beatie, who lives in Bend, wrote he was once pregnant with triplets, but the pregnancy was life-threatening and he lost the fetuses. Now, Beatie said he and his wife, Nancy, are expecting a little girl in July.
In the article, Beatie described some of the challenges he and his wife have faced -- they said doctors won't treat them. The couple met 10 years ago and Nancy is not able to have children.
He wrote in The Advocate that their situation "sparks legal, political and social unknowns."
The couple were out of town Monday and unable to speak with the station.

I coach softball and my favorite gift was a sweatshift with photo of the team and all the kids signe
They signed it in some kind of indelible ink which is great because I actually wear it all the time. I also got a plaque that looks just like the shirt, which is nice to have because I'm sure I'll wear out the sweatshirt. I love them and feel proud when I wear the shirt. We were champs of the league and the district and for a couple months after the season we were all kind of local celebrities! I played at a high level myself traveling all over Italy and Japan, but coaching this group was the best experience of my athletic career.
Portland Oregon? I think about retiring there
I dream of relocating to Oregon - because it's the only state that allows physician-assisted suicide so that people who have terminal diagnoses can end the life the way they want to. (no flames please, to each his/her own).

P.S. please, really, let's not get into it folks...no flames
It's 31 degs in southern oregon
and even colder inside my house (or so it feels like). Lucky DH is still under the electric blanket.
Oregon mileage tax in place of gas tax
Hubby mentioned this to me yesterday...I said there's no way it would pass since it seems to be an intrusion of privacy...but apparently Oregon thinks it's a good idea. If it passes in Oregon, all the other states will follow in their footsteps and Big Brother will be truly be in the passenger seat. I'm all for going green and reducing oil consumption but I think this crosses the line.

I don't suppose many of you are old enough to remember cloth diapers and diaper pins, plastic pants that went over them to contain leakage, Dreft detergent or 20 Mule Team Borax and heaven forbid knowing how to clean them! Ask your grandmothers how it was done. And you think you have it rough with disposable diapers! Cat

Live in Oregon, just DH and me, spend about 400 a month...
give or take including cat supplies. Costco every 4 to 5 weeks. Love really good bread, yogurt, real half and half for my coffee and fresh fruit and veggies no matter what the cost. Eat out on an average of 4 times a week, lunch or dinner on our days off, not fast food (Ugh). Cook everything from scratch, no boxes or cans here, except for pasta. I don't eat red meat on a regular basis, chicken every now and then, but DH gets his steak, chops, whatever, ( I get the big pkg at Costco) at least twice a week. I have only seen a spike in dairy and bread products, but I won't buy cheap, to me it's not worth it; if I'm eating it, I want it to taste good and not be loaded with preservatives, etc. I'd rather spend 2.98 a pound for really good apples instead of 98 cents a pound for mealy ones. I'm Italian, so food is a religion for me and it better be good!
I'm in Eugene/Springfield area of Oregon
We just had a light dusting of snow in the night that melted off this afternoon, but we're supposed to get several inches on the valley floor with the next storm, Wednesday I think.

Oregon estimating 1.27 million Oregonians sick.
Estimates
Oregon's plans for responding to a moderate pandemic assume one would sicken 1.27 million Oregonians, sending an estimated 12,000 to the hospital and killing 2,500. Health officials don't track every case of the flu but estimate that about 10 percent of Oregonians -- or 379,000 -- fall sick from regular, seasonal influenza on average each year. And across the country, influenza and its complications kill about 36,000 people and send 226,000 to hospitals.
Swine flu has not been identified in any of the samples tested from Oregon patients, but labs continue to process them. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have developed a confirmatory test for swine flu and are distributing it to states. Oregon should have those supplies by Monday, Kohn said.

Yes - does not work! Hoax if you ask me. MetaboLife doesn't work either.
The only thing that works for me is exercise and eating correctly! No quick fix, unfortunately.

She is 7, so it is fun to race her in the different strokes. Sadly, the only one I can really beat her regularly is backstroke. Our whole family loves the water.
I wear contacts and cannot see a thing without them, so I either keep them in and wear goggles or take them out and wear prescription goggles. Good thing I don't really care if I look goofy!!

I TRIED to work, WANTED to work, but
So now I have to scramble for the rest of the week, trying to catch up on what I didn't do today. And of course, working today was in hopes of catching up on whatI didn't do last week. This job is a never-ending hamster-wheel of lunacy.
If all this is for real...
I can't imagine that you haven't ripped her superior little head off! What a nerve this woman has. Stand up for you and your child. She is NO better than you are just because you chose to raise your children differently than she did! I am more like you, in raising my children that is, they do not have a lot of structured activities...my 7 YO just wants to be a kid and play! I don't force him to play with anyone he doesn't want to...and you shouldn't feel like you have to force your child to play with anyone he doesn't want to.
Take a stand against this woman...tell her what you think and let it go...what's she gonna do, ground you?
Definitely real.

Up and real
We've had ours up since the day after Thanksgiving along with all the inside and outside of the house decorated at the same time.
let's see, what is more REAL,
googling something
or experiencing with knowledge 1st hand???
Real Dad
My husband met his real Dad after 20 years of searching. We live on the East coast. His Dad lives on the West coast. My MIL did not want him him meeting his Dad for the same reason.
I can tell you this, his Dad was very receptive of him. He answered some questions that neither my MIL nor anyone else could answer. It was a nice reunion.
Please disregard your mother's opinion at this point because she is probably scorn and feels you should feel the same way. It just doesn't work that way with the child that wants to know their Dad. My husband didn't care what his Dad was like, but he wanted to see him and talk to him.
He now only talks to him occasionally, but I can say that my hubby sleeps much better at night and has learned acceptable, which has really helped emotionally with this struggle he has had all of these years wanting to know his Dad.
Even if you just write a letter explaining that you just wanted to know who he was and to make sure he is safe! Holding grudges and putting a lot of emotional junk out there at first is sort of a turn-off in my opinion, but in time, you'll find your answers.
Good luck to you, and so glad you at least know he's safe and has a family that loves him, albeit he left out on you. Hold those kinds of feelings in your heart instead of holding grief or demeaning feelings because the "good stuff" lasts longer and doesn't cause as much heartache!
Take care and God Bless!
Is this for real?
This could be anybody...and probably is NOT a young expecting couple, I'd bet...wow, how unbelievable.. BTW, how did you find this? Just curious. Guess I'm just not very Internet savvy, cause I can't find anything worth looking at out there...
Get real
It is unrealistic to expect parents to pick up a high schooler - chances are both parents work.
You are missing the point here - the schools are not doing job!!!! Kids don't feel safe at school because they are not safe - and that's the fault of we adults. We have to demand better accountability from the school officials, including the school board. Even if it means some of the Dads - or Moms if they feel qualified - patrol the school themselves as a voluntary security force. It's pathetic that our kids have to even think about protecting themselves from other kids, but that is the world we have handed over to them.
HomeMT, I applaud you for protesting your child's suspenson. I think she should be allowed to carry the pepper spray. I would get her into a self-defense class, too, just so she can learn some other methods of protecting herself. This doesn't have to martial arts, but there are 1 and 2 hour classes where they can teach you methods to protect yourself from an attacke from behind, etc. All female children should have this trainng.
I am about as real as it gets
I am putting the truth out there and if some don’t like, nothing I can do about it. No one, including this girl, is allowed to have any sort of pepper spray, knives, guns, paper cutters and if you think children are not being suspended for just having drawings, then you are not listening to the world around you. A 15 year old knows right from wrong about school issues. I do not see this parent getting anything reversed. Her child was wrong in having it and if the parent bought for her to take to school, they are wrong as well. You should read my post because I said either she or someone else pick up the child if safety is such an issue. I think in high school most children hate riding the yellow bus and would rather walk, drive or be driven to school and usually is the case now. I hold the parents resonsible for the sad state of affairs with the schools- too much pampering with Johnny and Janie. The kids have no respect for their teachers nor for their own selves.
I am not real sure about this, but---sm
I have seen advertisements for the newer digital type hearing aides that run around $1500 for each ear. good luck.
Get real
This guy doesn't need a kidney - he has taken a new job and has to learn a new route. The mom should leave him alone - if he isn't smart or resourceful enough to contact the vast number of resources that NYC has to offer tourists and new city dwellers on how to get around in Manhattan, then he isn't smart enough to have that job.
For crying out loud, some of you women just won't let go of your little boys.
I think you are for real. .
I believe what you see is for real. . I don't see these things to this extent. just a little. I think it must be a gift. though we can't undernstand it fully. . .
Are they for real?
I can't imaging a service posting a pay of 5 to 7 cents per line - I wonder how many people can (or would) work for that??
Yep - this would be for real and actually
I did take today off to drink it up with jose and lay in the pool all day not giving a flip anymore!

rent here in Miami for a studio is 2K a month - I drive my car to the store twice a month stock up and live on about $300 a month for groceries -- BTW furnished room too for $575 (small kitchenette, full bath and living/bedroom area) so quit griping and realize how lucky SOME of you do have it -- BTW - Im single, and even s/o who does not live with me has had problems with money lately -- we are both "stressing" but surviving
so you babies need to grow up and quit griping and working a weekend, 2 or 3 wouldn't hurt either.
