Spend $400 toward holiday food, snacks, decor, and a massage (yes, I deserve it, lol).

Spend $1000 on my family and the other $1000 on a needy family.

It's only $1000 spent on my family. I spend $300 on each of my 2 sons; $50 on each of my parents, my 2 sisters, brother-in-law, 2 nephews; have about $50 left for stocking stuffer gifts and any little miscellaneous items I didn't think about. It's really not that much on everyone.

I just can't think of spending that amount of money on my family knowing that other families have nothing. Especially since I can afford it by simply saving $100 every payperiod and share the same Christmas with someone who wouldn't even have one.

Honestly, my boys are grown and my family is so well provided for through our own blessed lives, I've thought about just purchasing token gifts for us and giving it all to 2 needy families at Christmas. It just bothers me to sit down at anytime of year and know I have and others don't.
