monitoring
O'gee .. been gone for awhile now but it was on the desktop and I found it when I took out all the ExText stuff after I left. Others complained of the same thing and I will write them and see if anyone has a file name. I was livid and called them on it. You know she said absolutely not .. pure horse pucky.
Webmedx - Monitoring of your PC
When logging on, I get a message about giving permission to monitor my PC by connecting.  What exactly does this mean?  Are they able to monitor my PC all the time or only when logged in using their software or what?
monitoring software?
Oh hell... what was that? I used to work for them and didn't notice that. Maybe it's still on my computer. Can you tell me what it is?
TTS - Monitoring your computer
I just read somewhere on this board that TTS puts monitoring software on your computer.  Is that true?  Can they do that?  How can we tell what it is and uninstall it?
They and MDI are obviously monitoring the board
They're preparing for the fallout, I'm sure.

too many Indians and not enough chiefs monitoring work.
LOL
Course of Action

1. File a complaint with the labor board.

2.File a civil action against the company.

Class action
You might have enough people to bring a class action, or just go together to hire an attorney...

Good luck!
D&L class action?
I think a bigger problem is many people complain, put up with it, or leave and complain but do not follow through - Otherwise how did it get so bad? I think everyone needs to fight back to this company and every company that does this THE FIRST time - if you bounce a check or do not pay what happens - you get it on your credit - send notes to the credit agency - you are a business - IC - and tell them - send them your unpaid invoices and they will place it on their credit report.
That's when we do a class-action and
Doesn't that sound like a plan?
that sounds like action to me

You may be one, but I am sure you will inspire others to join you.

what action can I take for nonpayment?

I am having the same issue with 2 different companies. IF you are an employee, you can call the labor board and they can assist you. IF NOT...if you are an independent contractor it is a lot more difficult. The labor board will not assist an IC. Then your only option is to hire a lawyer in NJ and file suit against the company there. If the company owes less than the limit for small claims court, you can file in small claims court but you have to physically go there to appear in court...if you win, all you get is a judgment, i.e. a piece of paper. The court will not make the company pay the judgment, it is up to you to collect that. If it is over the limit for small claims, you have to have a lawyer file suit in district court. Of course...even if you win, the lawyer has to be paid so make sure you are owed enough for it to make it worthwhile to go that route. Now, if the company gives you a check that bounces, that's a whole other issue. Then you have to send a certified letter giving them (usually...varies by state) 10 days to pay the check and any bank fees you have accumulated becuase the check bounced. If they do not, then your only course of action is to send the check and a complaint to the district attorney where the company is and ask them to collect. The district attorney will send the compnay a letter and if they don't pay the check, then they will file suit against the company and will in fact arrest the owner. All of this takes ages of course and that is probably not going to help the immediate issue which is you need the money you earned! yeah...I understand completely. Good luck.

Good for you for taking action to
change careers. Enjoy the kids.
Plan of action comment

While you really cannot do anything about the parting of the ways unless there is a provision in your contract to cover this, you can do something about getting your money.  If I were you, I would not hesitate one second.  A certified letter to them with return receipt back to you would indicate that they have 7 days to get your money to you.  Eight days after they have received your letter, if you do not have the full payment in hand, file a suit at your local small claims court.  It does not hurt to call/visit the small claims court and get all the information and paperwork (whatever you can) ahead of time.  Also, file a report with the BBB (it is debatable whether or not this will help, but it can't hurt).

This is not the time to be nice.  Don't accept any excuses from them and do not grant them any time extensions.

Of course, this is my opinion only.

Good luck,

Lillybelle.

Taking action is vital.
I totally agree that if you are unhappy, it is so much better to take action that to wallow in it. What I don't totally understand is why so many MTs stay at companies that treat them poorly. There are good companies out there that DON'T reaquire you to spend time e-mailing, IM'ing, and doing nonproductive unpaid work. And many of those companies that say they offer a maximum of 8 cpl have decent production bonuses that can bring that to 10 cpl. Some even give raises, believe it or not. And there ARE companies that will offer more than 8 cpl to start, and have steady work to boot. Changing jobs is painful, and it can take a few moves before you find the right one. But why not try? I just don't feel that an attempt at unionizing is going to solve the problem. But hey, if you think it will, all power to you and best of luck in your efforts.
What action can I take for nonpayment on a company in NJ - sm
As of this Friday the first invoice will be 6 weeks past due, the 2nd 4 weeks.  She has been saying for weeks she has mailed these two checks.  Today she said she sent them priority (told me yesterday she would mail them priority).  I know she is just biding time because there is no money to cover them which is my next problem.  If and when I get these who knows how long it will be before I can cash them.  I would like to tell her that if I don't have checks in the mail by Friday (that I can take to the bank and get cash for) that I am going to take action against her.  I am just tired of her crap and lies.  Obviously I no longer work for her either so she has no real incentive to pay me.  She stopped sending me work because she knows I won't type if I don't get paid.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.
I think everyone should file a class-action suit

I've witnessed front-end VR in action...sm
First hand.  It was extremely impressive.  Talked to the docs that use it.  There are lots of companies and software packages out there so perhaps it varies a lot.
I am filing a small claims action this week.

Have one doctor that I had problems with and only typed for him foer three months.  He was unethical but then he felt that I should not charge for anything that was not actually typed, i.e. if he did a normal exam, etc.  So we had a falling out and he owes me $200 and he has threatened fraud against me, etc.  But I told him he could not bully me and that we would leg small claims court settle the matter.  Am giving him a three day notices sent in a signed reeturn receipt and if he does not pay I will go to court.   So if you are an IC that is your course of action.  I work directly for the doctor, if you are with a service and you know the docs that you are typing for, can tell your MTSO you are informing them that they do not pay their IC's and you will not longer be able to work or provide services, but that depends if you signed a contract and stated you would not have any contact with the accounts.  My first suggestion, write a last demand letter and outline that you will file small claims court proceedings and send a copy of that to their accounts.

Good luck.

We need to CALL THE FACILITIES and let them know what is going on! OR Class Action Lawsuit
...we need to all go out on strike! If we ALL stopped working tomorrow, called the facilities and let them know why, where would WebmedX be?
It's wearing thin, and I'll sign onto class action!
Right now I'm working full-time for one of the Axis of Evil...where, as we know, the recent denied-until-it-happened pay cuts and global equilibration of account levels screwed me, so I'm trying to get out of that hell hole, where the only thing left after VR gets done are the crappiest of the crap. I saw light at the end of the tunnel, and it turns out it was a train coming through to smack me head-on.

So I guess I'll hang onto the 2 jobs I have now, while I continue to look for 1 or maybe 2 that will be more amenable. I don't mind working hard and I don't really even mind the account job #2 has me on (although it has been NWA all week...must have hired some more bodies), but I hate the perceived sneakiness of it while they've got my back against the wall. GRRRR
Prez - probably prez is monitoring all proofing for costs, not individual
questions, so all email probably goes to Prez email.
Try going through supervisor. They should get
z
Why don't you say this to your supervisor?
Any acute care account may seem difficult for you. Express your concerns to your sup. and see if you can be placed on a different account.
My supervisor
nm
Supervisor?
Not sure who you had for a supervisor, but none of our supervisors have quit in the three years I've been here. Please be sure you have your facts straight there.
According to my supervisor....sm
you can work OT on any account listed if you are off hold for that account. If you see an account that you might like to help on, read the account specifics to see if you might like it and then ask your SMT to add it to your affinities. You will be on an initial hold, more than likely, but once you are off hold you can work all the OT you can stand.
Is KW still the supervisor?
If not, then things are probably much better.  Sounds like they worked out the bugs, though.
Supervisor
Is your new supe 'D'?
Have you tried asking supervisor
for help?  I don't know if anything can be done about the clunky program, but perhaps you've encountered a lazy tech who is unwilling to work with you and your macros.  Maybe your supervisor or his/her supervisor can help.  It's worth a try.
Let the supervisor know......

Well, I would think that if you can prove it you have a case. I know, this would make me crazy. I have felt the pinch of cherry pickers myself.

I wonder though, how is it that the supervisor doesn't know these people are taking an hour or two off or if their internet is down? Why are they emailing just you? If they are not notifying the supervisor, maybe next time you get an email like this you could email back and say something like thanks for letting me know, I'll be sure to let -insert supervisor's name- know right away that you are not able to work at this time, let us know when things are -insert excuse for not working- back up again/you are feeling better/etc.

I would most definitely let the supervisor know every single time someone was taking time off for the reasons you gave. Then, the supervisor knows and can handle it accordingly.

Since she is not the supervisor, she
should never have been contacted to begin with. After the first one, however, I think I would have questioned the MT as to why she was not notifying her supervisor.
I liked Beyond Txt, I liked my supervisor
I liked my hours, I liked just about everything, except I was always just short of full-time lines. It was a high ESL, which is no problem for me, but I am very picky about QA. They also have a QA percentage requirement along with a line requirement, so every day I'd see those numbers and send less and less to QA b/c I'd take a lot of time to make sure I did it right. My fault. I ended up not able to support my child and I had to get a second job. Then I was exhausted and decided to just leave. I would have been very happy had I been able to make a higher line count with the QA I wanted and they required, and benefits. Like I said, one of those situations where I wished it would have worked out, but bills to pay, family to feed, all the rest! Good luck to you.
Must have the same supervisor or there all bad
99% of the emails I send my supervisor go unanswered the first time, and when I have to email her again because I really need an answer, I always tell her this is my 2nd or 3rd email so she knows how incompetent she is. I keep thinking maybe she will up her game, but so far it hasn't worked. Whenever I see a link asking for suggestions from any of the newsletters or emails we get from the company, I always send a suggestion that they do a survey of the MTs on 2 subjects. 1. How satisfied they are with their job. 2. How would they rate their supervisor's performance.

Apparently they don't like my suggestions as they never make an attempt at either.
My supervisor is also from NY, but
she is as sweet as an angel.  Maybe she wasn't born there.
Call your supervisor.
I would call her and tell her you are at a point in time where you have decided it is important to take care of some personal issues. Be very upbeat, positive, and looking forward to the change. Tell her you have enjoyed so much working with her, and you will be glad to give a 2 weeks' notice, and would like to know if you would be eligible for re-hire if future pursuits do not work out.

Save the email.

If she wants more details, just tell her it's personal. You don't have to go into detail, and no, you won't sound dumb. :)
I called my supervisor...
I really struggled with the decision to quit. I liked the company (a national) and accounts, but I could no longer handle the 20-hour minimum for PT as I already work a FT job and it just became too much. She was very nice about it and understood. She is a good supervisor and I felt I owed her that much. I did give a 2 week notice.
Account to ASR - per supervisor -- been asking

supe about this for a year or so -- just told within the last week (after my many questions to her about where the work has gone on this account) that the account had gone to ASR -- I heard a "jillion" excuses from the supe for the "no work" situation, EXCEPT THE TRUTH -- that it was going to ASR. Now only get the jobs that ASR cannot interpret. MQ supes are definitely not for the MT -- but MGMT puppets !! Don't you tell the MT's that their accounts are going to AST UNTIL AFTER equipment is working well, and we can handle it without the MT  !!!!!!!!!!

OSI's quality supervisor probably can't
I also suspect that she's been posting all kinds of crap on this board because that's the kind of lunatic she is.
So is that why the new US MT supervisor is Indian?
?!?!?!?!
It depends on your supervisor. They are all very different.
x
How so? Supervisor answers, no one else
z
Have you spoken to your supervisor
Just curious. You've spent time in training...have you tried to see if the issue can be resolved?
The supervisor's name was Denise. nm
xx
My supervisor just told me that they were having
problems with people not sticking to their schedules and work being out of TAT.  You might want to ask the recruiter about scheduling before you make your decision, as it might be an issue.
Supervisor? He isn't on our side! No wonder he kept
calling this weekend to see if I could work extra! He and everyone in that office knew it was coming..how they sleep tonight, I will never know.
apparently you do not have the same supervisor I did!
Exact opposite. Pay was always on time, though.
Re: MT supervisor discussion below...sm
I was an MTSO many years ago and have been an IC with my own accounts ever since.  I'm curious exactly what an MT supervisor does?
Supervisor position
Anybody know if the supervisor/manager position has been filled for Superior Global.  I read some bad comments about this company, just was wondering.
Supervisor's pets
Has anyone else had a supervisor that had pets while riding all the other MT's? Anyone else out there who has had that problem?  If so, I'm sure your stories are just as entertaining as mine have been.
Please notify the supervisor or QA (sm)
Many of us were QA'd for weeks because they had the luxury of taking the time with us then.  This is a good thing.  They will eventually take care of all this, but if it is a priority, which I think this is, it will be taken care of pronto.  Just do it.
