In Reply to: Spaces, paid or not paid. Do you know? sm - burnt again
Since I use Shorthand, it would be an easy thing to convert my file back to text, find all the spaces and replace them with nothing, then convert the file back to Shorthand. If the original agreement was (and I hope in writing) that you would be paid for spaces, my personal feeling is that you have been underpaid by about 30% (that has been my experience when comparing being paid for spaces versus not being paid for them). If you are an IC, perhaps sending a corrected invoice for the entire period in question with a 30% increase would get their attention. If they buck at paying that, then ask for a renegotiation of your rate as they have not paid you for what they said they would. I'd rather someone tell me up front they don't pay than to be sneaky and blame pay decreases on supposed glitches. It is not an honest business practice.
