my pay has taken a HUGE cut, so I hate to jump from the frying pain into the fire. I transcribe and edit, and I am definitely feeling the pinch and have to decide this weekend. Thanks for the info...much appreciated

If you are a high producer (400+ lph) do you have to
even after you make your line count at Spheris?
Well, I was a high producer when given accounts that -sm
were easy to build lots of large templates for. Although I must say that was rather boring. Now I have more challenging work that I really like, keeps my mind stimulated, but alot of it is state-of-the-art oncology for a couple different clients, and their work just doesn't lend itself to templates, or even very many macros. Also more time is spent finding info. on drugs & equipment that is often too new to be in the Stedman's books.
Although I'm sticking to my production commitment, on this type of work I need more lines/day to live on. So although I'm supposed to work an 8-hour day, 5 days a week, lately it's turned into a 10-12 hour day, 6 days a week.
I AM interested in learning new things, the more specialties I'm doing, the happier and more well-rounded an MT I am. But I think if that variety results in slowing me down, if my work is still coming in accurately transcribed, it should pay better.
I think that as a supervisor, you would find more people interested in taking on more challenges if they were REWARDED for doing so, instead of PENALIZED by a reduction in take-home pay.
JMHO
Need detailed info on DSG. It is stable work for a high producer? nm

I'm high level 4, all acute care, high ESL, many years exp. and highest QA grades...
In case you are wondering...All acute care, all specialties. I request new accounts, and yet they all run out of work...not just during usual slow periods...
I'm original poster and a high level 4 as well with high ESL accts, which I've always had...sm
My accts (10+) for the previous 12 years were all in the LA area. I consider ESL at Webmedx easy, even though my WebmedX accts are supposed to be high ESL. ALL of my STMs accounts are low on work--quite low. I've added more accounts. Not helpful if all are low in work. My supervisor at MQ was more helpful than my Webmedx STM.
They are not MT, but general transcription. Pay not very high. at least not as high as MT work.x

Their pay is the pits unless you're a heavy producer. nm

I am a slower but accurate producer, around 1000 sm
lines in 8 hours. Are there any companies out there that would value me as an employee? Seems like everyone wants 1200 lines or better or you are out the door.
That "better producer" phrase sounds like -
Moo.
That is way low! I also transcribe for a producer, verbatim, non-medical,
any typist could do it (unlike MTing) and I get $100 per 1 hour of dictation. That's ridiculous.
What is considered a "high producer" at Transcend? Everyone has talked so much about it, what

Yikes!
Run for the hills! Don't get suckered into joining them cuz they may offer 10 cpl as it is not worth it; also not worth sacrificing every weekend for chump change. They say they offer competetive wages in their ads but yet they don't offer incentive or shift differential. No wonder everyone leaves as there are greener pastures.
Yikes!

Yikes.
I can't see any MTSO getting involved in this. I know plenty of MTSOs or their loyal workers read here. I warn people when I can and give credit to a good company when I run across them. If a company worries you, don't work for them. There are hundreds of companies to choose from. :-)
Yikes.
That is just terrible!
YIKES!
Just sounds like a bunch of people got up on the wrong side of the bed today. Everyone seems to be crabbing here. I know this is a company board, but why the personal attacks? I think possibly the attendings were not in lately maybe because of the holidays and a lot of docs who work for the Hospital Admitting dictated. It does not happen in droves all the time but it happens. And about people liking certain work types, that is good for the company, everyone just should be prepared to do everything if the company knows they have the talent. In my 20 years of experience things usually even out. Especially at a place as good a TT with the kind of leadership it has. Not to be goody goody, but if someone was worried about too much ESL or some other problem, why not just reduce stress instead of crabbing on this board. IMO. Of course now you can crab at me, but that's okay, I'll just have an egg nog and forget about it (see gab board). LOL
Yikes.
If you like coding, go back to school for that. No way should anyone be doing QA fresh out of school. Good luck to you!
Yikes!
That was the reason why I was thinking about applying was because my company has been very low on work almost all month, and I wanted something more stable. I guess I'll have to think twice about them then. Thanks for the heads up!
Yikes!
I would never give ANYONE copies of my pay stubs no matter who they were or what they said they needed them for!
YIKES!
I saw an add posted on another forum and the address was Ohio. Totally strange. Indian-owned - - I will not apply. Thank You!
Yikes
Sounds like something Spheris would do.
Yikes!
We should all throw our shoes at whoever is in charge of that place!
See I did it again - yikes.
*hilarious
I think I should just call it quits right now :)
Yikes!

WOW! This is absolutely ridiculous! There are some really unhappy and mean people on this board. It really isn't anyone's place to point out grammar/spelling mistakes. I get emails all the time from my supervisors I work for with typos and incorrect grammar and puncuation in them - WHO CARES? I do it as well - I am more relaxed in my correspondence, but when it comes to my job, I am extremely conscientious about it. That's how I make my money. And the companies know this. They aren't going to fire you or dock your work because you left off a comma or used an elipses in the wrong form. I also have a side business where I deal with the Mayor, City Council, and various others in government and they all write like me too!
You posters who scream and belittle people for things like this really have issues. Major control issues. Get some help and leave the rest of these people alone. Take a yoga class, do some meditation, go for a hike, have a couple cocktails - do something to relieve the stress and unhappiness in your lives. You can't control the world, honestly. To the posters who are like me and just relax when we write because we aren't getting paid to do otherwise, keep it up! I definitely keeps the stress level down. Don't let these OCD'ers and control freaks get to you - and most of all, don't get sucked into their pettiness.

YIKES!!
Better stay away from them too!! Thanks :)
Yikes! Thanks for the info

Yikes, someone is definitely misleading others. I
that Transcend is still offering 3 cpl incentive to work holidays.
Undercutting ... yikes!
That's not a great practice. That can hurt MTs in the long run because it lowers our pay. If the national can make that line rate, you should be worth it -- or at least darn near -- too! You really just shortchange yourself. Being competitive is one thing but undercutting is another. Make sure you know the difference!!! Competitive means you are within a cent or two of the competition. Undercutting means you accept way less, thus making it look like MTs in general just overcharge and don't deserve the higher pay. Keep it competitive but don't undercut! We deserve just as much as the nationals and maybe even more so don't hang yourself. If you give the impression that you're willing to do the same work for much less, you may have a really hard time raising rates later. Not to mention, other MTSOs will blacklist you for it and if you ever need a job, you may have difficulty finding one. MTSOs exchange info about undercutters all the time.
I speak from experience so just a word to the wise.
Yikes move on....
If this is how they hire people, imagine when it's payday!
Yikes! Got my answer.
Sorry you do not have enough work. Now I know not to bother.
No spellcheck? Yikes!
xx
Yikes. That's going to hurt your ck
Yikes! Thanks for the info.

Yikes .. right, not write. nm
Ok, ok, I meant "company". Yikes! :) nm
nm
Yikes..I don't think I've used that for like 10 years. Why do you ask?
I'd also be curious to see if any companies actually are still using that. I can't imagine anyone still having it but you never know. Do you really like working on this now that we're on like WP 12??
Yikes - with the pay cuts and all? You can have 'em.
nm
Yikes---that should be question not questino:-)
Yikes! They were so nice during the test...
Oh no....not again....
Yikes..is your experience there current?
I'm leaving a job like that now so chances are that I do not want to go into another situation like that. Life's too short!!!
Yikes! Send resumes out right away. Try some of
I suggest Transtech. They are hiring, and are safe! E mail them and follow up with a call. You need a job! Please consider this a good thing because if the job that just did this would fire you like that on a whim, they are not worth working for, but I assume you have bills to pay!! Please try sending your resume quickly to a couple of reputable companies like Transtech. I can't think of any other. I used to work for MDI-MD but can't recommend them anymore. So many I can say don't send to... but I can recommend TT. Please try the best you can to get on board somewhere ASAP! We are out here pulling for you... and once you are settled let us know you are okay!
Yikes, I'm on a roller coaster!!
I don't know what to think. Guess I'll find out what its like for myself real soon.
Yikes! A good one to stay away from then. Thanks!! nm

Yikes, does the company contribute toward your premium? sm
Wow, seems very high. I've heard of $300 - $400 for a family plan monthly but never double. I know that a lot of places feel that you as the MT are saving travel, clothing, lunch money and getting a lot of perks working from home, but so are they by you doing it! I do know plenty of people do work just for benefits though. If you're working for needed income just as much as benefits though....I'd check around. Wow again! Company I just got an offer from (didn't take it, they're bad) offered full family bennies for just over $300/month and it was a decent plan - good co-pay, deductible, etc. But it is one of the bigger MTSOs. If it is a smaller one, they may not be contributing, just offering it to you. It is possible to find one that contributes monthly toward your premium.
Yikes! Webmedx recently told me they don't have
...the capability for VR. Is this something new?
Yikes!!! Excuse me. All I did was ask who the company might be. Did it occur to you that there are
some companies we might choose NOT to apply with, or have applied already with and turned down an offer, or just not interested in a particular company. Who said you were covering anything up??? I prefer to apply with companies that I WANT to apply with, not with a mystery employer. I'm giving out personal information and have a right to know who it is going to. Someone is very defensive. What did I ever do to you!!!!
Yikes? I know it might be hard to believe, but there are people who are happy with MQ.
I just happen to be one of many. No weekends, time 1/2 for holidays if I work, 10c per line, fast platform, and every day I learn something new. Have gotten offers from Transtech, MDI-MD, Hypertype and Webmedx, but I'm still with MQ. I'm not stupid, far from it, I just KNOW that they are all the same. MQ happens to be the biggest and some people just can't handle that. They will bounch back, just wait....
Yikes. I didn't get that far but I agree. Stuff
Even though I always hit TAT, I wouldn't want that hanging over my head. I'd surely hope they'd make exception if you got violently ill or something, but ya never know these days.Glad I dodged that one.
