The days of doing 1 worktype SM
are gone and have been gone for a few years. If you got a few extra years of demanding to do only ops and maybe 1 other kind of work, you were lucky. Any company you go to now will expect that whatever comes your way you will type professionally and without an attitude.
You don't like ESL? Please. That's all there is out there now.
My primary had zeros for every worktype
about 1/2 hour ago. VERY low, espec last few days. :(
Unless something has changed, health insurance rates vary state by state, so we may not have the
info you need. I'm an IC so I don't have benefits.
You are correct. The state that rules is the state the employee lives in.
My state laws has is spelled out in their Code. If another state does not withhold, they are fined heavily and if they don't withhold for years, their fines are pretty bad. I worked for a Florida co that did not withhold income tax for my state even after I brought it to their attention in the state code. They kept saying that they would eventually and never did. After two plus years and when I left, I made it known to my state all the conversations, the state refunded me all late fees they charged me and then said they were going after the company in Florida because they had many employees in our state. They deserved it. They knew better.
No, it's y'all. It's YOU ALL contracted.
Good God, y'all!
We're all in the same boat and we all have our opinions. I'm much more wary about this than M.E.D., but M.E.D. has as much a right to express an opinion as anyone else. We don't know what's going to happen but cutting each other down or calling on censoring each other is bullcrap.
How come y'all can and I can't? I'm no slouch, either. Maybe in about 16
Please tell me the secret. I was a very high producer at ALL my previous jobs and now can't get diddly.
Guess they had to do something for y'all
congrats to the ones who stuck with them.
TransTech--thanks y'all
Hey, thank you--this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, all of you.
y'all are remarkable
First I'm guilty, then I'm defensive.
I'm neither.
I was supporting my TRUTH which is that CBAY employs US MTs. PERIOD.
I have no emotional incentive to add anything to the convos here other than simple truth.
Y'all rant and rave and stomp your feet and I have to wonder how many of you are truly, really GOOD MTs. I've done this job for 30+ years and have never lacked for work.
Y'all are pitiful..
Why are you MTs???? This is not what MT stands for. Sorry. This is exactly why speech has come to be..yep..it is. There are no more EXCELLENT or even good transcriptionists and so they had to find a program that would cut down in their QA time, etc., for semi-quality reports with a handful of quality and I mean QUALITY transcriptionists. They are to be had no more....say what you want, I don't care. The TV, web sites, etc. advertising you can make 40 grand a year, etc. The schools are packed, nobody coming out with any knowledge. Well, here we are. Blast me all you want. Won't bother me a bit unless you give me your years of experience...
The state you live in or the state where the MTSO is located? nm
nm
Are y'all sure you aren't talking about OSI?

Y'all want some cheese with that whine?

sorry, post should be under 'all MDI people and no...)

I wanted to share this with y'all
I had an appointment with my doctor this morning and he was ranting about the EMR they use in his group. He said that he didn't get home last night until 10:30 because he was catching up on the EMR computer thing. He says this is an ongoing problem and he felt worn out. If it makes anyone feel any better, he is one who said that he wished they would go back to the little hand held dictating equipment which took only a couple of minutes instead of having to read questions like does your knee hurt? and typing in yes. Do you have limited range of motion? and typing in yes.
I really wonder if when the dust all settles if physicians are going to stand for these EMRs that take up so much of their valuable (and expensive) time???
Y'all talking about the Dixie Dingbat??
Hayell yeayah!
more arrogance. geez. can't y'all leave somebody alone--sm
and sit on the pity pot for a while. you've been there too, so don't lie about it. Everybody has a right to their own feelings without having someone tell them to stop feeling what they are feeling. get off your high horses and leave people alone. bullies.
If company is in state that has no state taxes
they are not required to take out state taxes. It's enough to keep up with your own state tax law code, could you imagine having to stay abreast of 49 other state tax codes? The cost would be huge and ultimately passed on to us by lower line rates. Regardless of who owes the tax, someone has to pay it. Just a matter of convenience I guess.
Not state by state, federal labor law - sm
and you don't have to be asked. If you work it, asked or not, they have to pay time and a half OT rate for hours worked over 40 in a week.
Taken right from U.S. Dept of Labor -
An employer who requires or PERMITS an employee to work overtime is generally required to pay the employee premium pay for such overtime work. Employees covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)MUST receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek of at least one and one-half times their regular rates of pay. The FLSA does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest.
Extra pay for working weekends or nights is a matter of agreement between the employer and the employee (or the employee's representative). The FLSA does not require extra pay for weekend or night work or double time pay.
Different state to state. You would be surprised to find
IC can be defined differently state to state. Even the IRS cannot come up with a definitive set of rules. You would be surprised how many ICs actually get unemployment in some states. If the unemployment claim form asks specifically if you are an independent contractor, do not lie, but if it does not, do not volunteer it. Let the company prove you are a true IC according to the rules of your state. All you lose is a few minutes filling out the claim form. I would only do it as a last resort. If you can find work fast, by all means go for it, but the way things are now with all the VR and off-shoring, it is a backup if you cannot find work. No one should go hungry because they are afraid to file for Unemployment as an IC.
Hey, weren't y'all talking about forming a union? What happened to that notion? nm
.
They should take out state taxes for the state
nm
It varies from state to state
nm
Varies from state to state
My own state recognizes partial unemployment, too, when your work gets cut down to half of your regular workload/income.
They must deduct FEDERAL taxes.. NOT STATE taxes.. if they took out state taxes.. it would be FLORID
which would only have to be refunded to you for you to pay YOUR state what you owe them which is nothing but a pain... be glad they weren't handling your state tax.. and I think in this case.. if someone at the IRS told you they have to deduct YOUR states taxes.. it is that person who is uneducated... they only have to deduce federal income tax
Agree. I have said this before --- y'all whine about no work but when there's a ton of work
do you? Just wondering. I find this perceived hostility completely out of character for TT.
Thanks both of you for your replies!
Thanks for your replies....
Thanks guys, I've always kept at it and then kept at it some more. I maintain my 98% to 100% accuracy, and I do increase my line count weekly, its only by a 100 to 200 lines a week tho and still not doing the line count they want. But, I'll keep at it some more and take your suggestions to heart. I do love being an MT, I don't care what anyone says. When you live in a small town and have to drive an hour to get decent pay, until you subtract gas, clothing and lunches, I'd much rather be here in my office, working at it on a day to day basis and not have to deal with office politics. I'll figure it out somehow.
Thanks for your replies. nm

Thanks for your replies -
I am leaning toward Webmedx. They offer fantastic benefits. It's true, the starting pay for ERs is not great, but with the incentive plan and evening/weekend differential - yeah, not bad. They offer a 12-hour window for getting work done (on some accounts).
Now, the question is, are the ESLs okay, bad, simply terrible, or just flat out unbelievable?!!!!

Thank you for your replies.
I am going to have a phone interview later today with the recruiter, so I'll see what she has to say.
If I decide to go with Spheris, I am probably going to stay on at my current company at least for a little while to make sure Spheris is a good fit. At least that way, I'm not out of luck if it doesn't work out.
Thank you again. You have given me a lot to think about.
Thanks for the replies
I had already heard some good things but just wanted to check out some other sources as well. Thanks again!
Thank you for your replies everyone.
I'm trying not to beat myself up too much about the test/score. I guess what they meant by timed test is that you have 24 hours to reply to the email and/or take the test and send it back to the company. But even still, I took as much time as I needed and used all of my reference materials to make double sure my answers were right. There was only one question that I could not find an answer to and therefore I guessed at the answer but even still that shouldn't have given me the score of 88. But, needless to say, that is water under the bridge and I'm moving down the river to stop at the next sand bar.
As a matter of fact I have another email in my box from another company wanting to talk to me but need to do a little research on them first. Zylomed - any info?
I try not to rely solely on Radiology, however, it is my absolute favorite. I absolutely, postively cannot stand to do OP notes so I try to stay away from hospital accounts.
Again thank you all for your replies and support, it really helps when you are beating yourself up to have someone else to try to pat you on the back and give a boost of self esteem.
I'd look at it this way, if there are not a lot of replies
have changed their name, or no one really has anything bad to say. Why try to pick someone's brain who just posts a one-liner. Maybe the poster does not want to go into it on this board and write a book.
Thanks for all your replies.I appreciate it. (sm)
I'm not only new to TT, I'm new to working for a national. Don't know all the ins and outs of the system procedures, etc. I was an IC for longer than I care to comment on, and my eyes seem to give out (watering, itching, burning) after a certain amount of hours on the PC.
thanks for replies, but.....sm
I guess the key word here is training. They all want experienced eScription editors and I have never had the opportunity to learn it. Do you know if these companies specifically train on eScription? TIA
Thanks so much, everyone, for your replies ... n/m

Thanks for replies......
So stressed out over it. Hopefully it will pick up. I really wonder what's happening here.
Thanks Everyone for Your Replies
Thanks MslaMT and others who replied about the line count difference. I surely appreciate the feedback, and am glad to have this little eScription community on this board to have discussions with. Happy Holidays to all-!!
Thanks for your replies.
I had seen those in the archives. I decided to keep looking and not apply.
Thank you, everyone, for your replies.
Every time I get excited about maybe finding a good job, I come on here and see how terrible the company is. Thank goodness for this board to find those things out, but I'm really starting to get frustrated - are there no more good and honest places to work for any more?
Thanks for the replies (sm)
I do have insurance coverage now, but there are several issues at my employer and I am desperate to go somewhere else. My husband is currently laid off, so I cannot afford to pay COBRA for 3 months while I am waiting for benefits to kick in at another employer. My son has a chronic medical condition, so private insurance is not an option (automatically declined everywhere we've tried). I'm praying that an opportunity will open up that will allow me to switch employers and get good insurance coverage. I hate being trapped where I am because of the insurance issue.
Thanks so much for the replies! sm
To those of you kind enough to take time out to respond, I want to thank you for alleviating some of the anxiety I had. I've been in this field over 15 years, but change can be scary, even if it is for the better.
Thanks again. You all are awesome!
Thanks for the replies
I have heard this is not a great platform. I am used to working in ChartScript. I go in on a VPN and citrix to the hospital server. I type in my own word and cut and paste. Can you do that with Meditech? Thanks again for replying.
Thank you both for your replies! (nm)
Thanks for the replies
I too really like my Vista and I do hope they upgrade to Vista. I am just about to learn ExText so I don't know much about it. I have been working in ChartScript and love it. I am hoping this platform is as easy. I use my laptop to work when I am away from home and it is frustrating when these companies don't take the time to update platforms to Vista. You have to special order computers with XP on them now. Thanks again.
Thank you for the replies
I'm full time so I have enough hours to qualify and from all the documentation I have I thought I was right but HR still won't budge. Now I have to decide if it's worth jeopardizing my job to fight for this or just leave it be.
