Can lead a horse to water....D&L
I can understand you're still working for D&L because I too have never been one to jump on the bandwagon. It is my own mistake not to have abandoned ship on D&L back when all the signs were saying GET OUT NOW!!! I remained loyal to this company and worked my butt off for them.
In the end, what did it get me and everyone who stuck around doing what they could? Nothing except a string of financial crises, ignored calls & emails, empty promises as they dumped their financial dilemma on me and the rest of us.
D&L still owes me for work done from June-July. They haven't yet paid their original set of MTs that worked the hospital account. They lied to us for weeks and suddenly owned up to the situation with the Oh Well email filled with promises of making good on pay.
....We are told that the payment will be honored when represented our bank has delayed availability of those funds until Thursday 07/19/07. Once those funds are made available we will immediately issue checks to anyone effected by this situation. We apologize for this unfortunate event and will expedite payments once funds are made available......
Here it is September 9th already, still no check.
Sorry to say, but what makes you think they have any intention of making good on YOUR check(s)?
Seriously, it's in your own best interest to find other employment quickly and not waste another minute working for free or you too shall suffer a financial crisis that will take months to recover from.
Good luck in your job hunt.
To quote Donna directly......It is what it is
Rumors don't hold water with me.
GIVE FACTS or keep quiet. You keep trying to down TT everytime someone posts a question. I have asked you time and time again for the FACTS which you have not provided.
You heard....i.e., you DON'T know. You ASSUME. Why don't you go right to management and confront them and THEN AND ONLY THEN, come back to this board and post the TRUTH. Until then, stop trying to spread RUMORS!!!
I understand not wanting to get yourself in hot water,
but if you are working for a company like this and someone else reports them, there could be consequences for you for knowingly filing taxes as an IC when you should be classified as an employee, especially if you are taking deductions such as a home office. If you don't want trouble, don't work for these types of companies. I agree with you though, I am glad to be getting out of MT too.
Being able to do anything thrown at you
has hurt me with 2 MTSOs in the past. What ends up happening is that because I *can* do anything and have the attitude to be willing to do anything, when someone else *won't* do what is needed, I get pulled off my regular work to do what no one else will do. This can do several things. It can decrease my line count because I get no samples and have to slow down to nail every word to create a normal for several MDs on reports I can do but haven't done in a while. This decreases my productivity and my income. After I do this good samaritan act, I find out they only wanted me to do that because they needed templates to send out to all the MTs so anyone else can do them....all at the request of the hospital because the hospital asked for me to do this as they felt my work was so much better than what they got from anyone else. Now I feel ripped out because if I had known I was making normals for the entire account, I would have not made them available to the MTSO without negogiating a fair price for my product.
That underhandedness makes me feel disillusioned and eventually causes me to leave.
JMHO
Which will probably be thrown out
Nothing that GP said was slanderous in any way. Of course, there is still the expense of retaining a lawyer, etc., but I highly doubt this case will stand. It is a scare tactic and they need to be met head on.
Does WMX still have you "clock out" for every drink of water, snack, or pee break you take? No
s
Yes, I have thrown in the towel already - sm
Been an MT for nearly 11 years. Though I love the work and am good at it, I cannot stomach the fact that I make a little less every year due to no pay increases and threats of even reduced line rates for the same amount of work. What other career do you know where the pay actually goes down every year due to no cost of living increases? Time for some change for me.
You are the only one that has thrown that number out there, no one else
You my dear are lacking. I never said I did that much an hour. I said for a half hour it was 446 and then I got straight and stuck with that crap. I love VR, type fast but I don’t have to work now, unlike years past. This is just my chump change, as someone called it below.
When you start walking water feel free to critique,
but until then you're human just like the rest of it and we all make mistakes occasionally. Maybe you're the management that made the original posting.
Well, did you tell them you got thrown off and didn't even get to take the test?
x
I got thrown out, lost my connection
called my team leader, who was very nice, and never got back in. 3 hours ago, still have not heard from IT. I am going to stick it out, though, hoping things will work out.
I never got to finish. After it asked me how much I was making, I got thrown off. -nm
.
Puhahaha! I'd probably end up starving to death or gathering enough vegetables being thrown to op
my own produce stand. Thanks for the chuckle. XDDDD
Who did she fire?
Can you give the initials? Just curious. I keep seeing the e-mails coming through for quality department positions. I wondered what was up.
Did they actually tell you they would fire you?
I am ignoring the paperwork until pushed. How do they know I even got it? My attorney says that arbitration agreement would not stand up in a court of law anyhow.
They cannot fire you just because you
are pregnant. There would have to be a cause as you are an employee. It is discrimination if they get rid of you just because you are expecting.
If pipe burstin in middle of night, turn off water to pipe
x
They can't fire an ex-employee.
nm
where there's smoke there's fire!
Obviously more than one person has come forward and said they were told work is going to India. The person who told me was not a "mere" MT. Everyone knows they're sending work to India but no one on this site is going to stand by their promise of USA companies only! I'm sure Webmedx is not far from turning into another Medware and trying to turn all us MTs in to janitors to clean by the C**P that these Indians put out. This is just another example of the big companies turning our jobs over to India and then waving their flags trying to hide what they are about. I can't believe this site actually expects companies to "publish" they're stabbing us in the back while they're smiling to our faces asking us to come to work for them (until they decide they want editors and not MTs).
Wake up Administrator! No one is going to admit they're the "bad guys"! When are we Americans going to start standing up for own jobs!!
They don't like to fire people, so when they
would like someone to leave for whatever reason, they get the no work thing or the worst dictators. Until this week I could work 24/7. Never, ever (except during hurricanes) have I not got my lines, rarely have to call for work, NEVER told to take a day off.
let them fire you ... and collect
As long as you are not being fired for not keeping to your schedule/agreement, etc., I'm pretty sure you can collect when fired (even if you weren't making your line count, were ill, etc.) It's much harder to collect (and easier for them to dispute the claim) when you resign.
Spheris WILL NOT give you a good reference. They make a permanent note on your record so you can't re-apply either. So forget that!
IMO, you should just wait it out, if you can, and collect while you're looking for something worthwhile.
Good luck.
frying pan to fire.
stay away and see if MQ gets their act together.
and it is rapid-fire
questions, bam, bam, bam. so have a cup of coffee about 1/2 hour before. When I took it the recruiter actually apologized for their line rate.
Maybe so they can fire the slackers? nm
.
If I'm not mistaken, they can't fire you for doing so
.
Most MT services can fire you "at will" and it is in most
contracts that you sign.
However, I will tell you working in QA that generally if an MT has quality issues, they have had enough feedback to warrant it. I just do not think there is any place for someone that has a problem with quality.
However, the fair thing to do in my opinion is to limit reports until the quality issues have a chance to go up and then if they do not, then someone might be out the door.
You will find another job. Just try to work on your quality so this does not happen again.
So you would fire one for exercising RIGHT to free
x
After their email the other day about looking to fire people, I'd say …
x
I know people there who need to be fired and they won't fire them. That just simply sm
is not true. They are a very nice company. They have benefits which include PTO and sick time.
can you give initials? Trying not to jump into the fire.
nm
That's hilarious..and then when they call to fire you for not doing them..Tell them TOO LATE..
I quit...MONTHS AGO..LOL
RadMT was trying to help. The descision to fire did not rest
x
This is crazy. Every week another company goes under fire. sm
I want to change from MQ to save my sanity, but every week when I check out the postings, there is another company that is being lynched. This is a tough crowd, isn't it? I don't know how to weed through and figure out what is hype good and bad versus what is real. I think I would be better off spinning a wheeling or flipping a coin than trying to balance out what is true here.
Does anyone else feel this way? Where can we go for real answers?
I would fire someone for biting the hand that feeds them
it has nothing to do with free speech but it MIGHT have something to do with defammation of character or slander, whichever is appropriate.
The email was not about looking to fire people. Yes, they are hiring. sm
The email stated that everyone must maintain certain levels for production and for QA in order to stay a Keystrokes' employee.
They were reassuring us that even in this depression or recession, or whatever it is being called now, we will have work to do and that they are still growing.
There are 2 openings on my account, so I know that they are hiring, and there is a new account starting next week too.
No its true, they will FIRE YOU after 3 days of training
...IF you dont hit 98%. they are just unreasonable in this manner. Totally ridiculous, like the ones firing you are not human and never had to learn anything to get WHERE THEY ARE!
Too much info often makes fuel for fire for those looking to flame (sm)
If an individual is actually looking exactly what is wrong with E-mailing that individual? A person can post hateful comments anonymously on this board, but when you are E-mailing back and forth people tend to be more friendly and less critical. JMO
My hubs retired as a fire captain. Great benefits, thank God! nm
s
Most contracts said either party can quit or fire at any time. Would be unusual to get locked into
s
Thought TX was "at will" employment?? or fire/quit immediately w/o reason
x
Then when we MT's are **thrown on** an account because of lack of work on our account
What is so hard to understand about that?
Then we have that account info filed away in a folder in our Outlook Express by name of account and can look at past emails sent out regarding that account. Not fun to be tossed on an account that you have never seen NOR ever received an email on. Sounds like business to me.
Notice is a courtesy, not a rule and they don't give you notice when they fire you
Giving a 2-week notice is common courtesy, and in most all my jobs, I have given them that courtesy; however, a company never gives someone notice when they are firing them. In my opinion, if a company does not treat their employees right, they do not deserve to get any notice at all.
As a matter of fact, I just left a company without notice. I felt horrible about doing it to my team but not to the company. While they never messed up on my pay, I was under constant stress. They treated several other people horribly and also changed all the terms of my employment contract within months of hiring me, which was going to cost me $800 a paycheck. I am the major breadwinner for a family of five and couldn't hang around a second longer losing that kind of money.
The only reason you would not want to quit without notice is if you want to use them as a reference and/or want the chance to go back to them in the future. I was advised by a recruiter that you should never put anything on your resume that is less than a year, so you really don't want to use them as a reference anyway, and you certainly don't want to go back to them.
Messing with someone's money is a big NO-NO, especially when they are costing you $400 for a second time. Heck no, I wouldn't give these people notice. There are some great companies out there hiring right now.
Feel free to contact me by email if you would like some more detailed information about the companies I narrowed my search down to. I was very sceptical about trusting another company with the bad luck I've had (just as you have) in the last few years, but I think I finally found somewhere I can be happy at for a long, long time (of course only time will tell, but I'm feeling very optimistic).
:) Best of luck to you!
I also know Spheris would fire you if they knew you worked for MQ. That is a BIG NO with Spheris!
